what is the difference - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

what is the difference between the
Galaxy S III Android Development
to
Galaxy S III Original Android Development

Original is stock stuff I assume.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

Original is stock Google development, eg aokp and asop roms. Android development is mostly samsung roms
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

Original is the place where original development is taking place. Original being what someone has done themselves. Android development is the place where ports are put or other work you haven't done yourself.

AFAIK, Original Android Development is for those ROMs/apps/mods which are built from source up.
Android Development is for those ROMs/apps/mods which are based on a pre-existing ROM/app/mod.

Search XDA .

Galaxy S III Jelly Bean Rom

Okay so I believe most of us have been waiting on a custom Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean Rom. Now the question is when? And which would you prefer Stock Jelly Bean or Touchwiz Nature Ui with Jelly Bean features and fluidity? I for one enjoy all the features that come stock with my Galaxy S III but would just like to add features such as Google Now and Project Butter's fluidity (Not Saying that the Galaxy S III has Lag) but what do ya'll think and do you know of any team working on it such as cyanogenmod?

Key word: asking. You're asking a question so it belongs in q&a. No matter what your question pertains to it still belongs in q&a. Only actual development belongs in the development section.

you had my hopes up. You should 've posted it in the q&a section

Well, it could pertain to other carriers, so it could be in General. I believe the development forums are for ROMs in development, and discussion of future ROMs still go in General.
Got way excited when I saw the title of the thread... curse you

This is not the Sprint SG3 forum. This is the Sprint development section. The rest is combined. Development sections anywhere on this site are not for Q&A. That's why we have a Q&A section

And you're continuing to be wrong about this concept - simply because you have a Sprint version doesn't mean it goes in the Sprint dev forum, you had a question, that goes in the Question & Answer forum.... read the rules! I bet you wouldn't be as confused if you had read that FIRST before posting here incorrectly....

This is the wrong section, unless you have original development to post, it should not be here. Post in the Q&A or General Section.
so many posts telling him where to go etc, how many of you reported it so it can be moved tho?
reported
MOVED......
IF YOU DID NOT DEVELOP SOMETHING DO NOT CREATE A THREAD IN THE DEVELOPMENT SECTION
I dont think this concept is that hard to comprehend
So HOSTILE in here don't think I'll be posting here anymore............

papa smurf is the mod on the sprint gs3 wow that's crazy, haven seen him for a while anyways,
I want jelly bean with touchwiz ,it has good features, but it cool look better, for some reason it reminds me more gingerbread then ics, most likely cause of the green battery lol

On topic, since it's in the proper area now, I can already tell you I want an AOSP-based ROM like CyanogenMod or AOKP when Jelly Bean hits.
The International SGS3 started getting official CM9 nightlies not too long ago, so I'd imagine it won't be terribly long until the US variants see a similar treatment.

Difference Between Android Development and Original

Sorry new to android and rooting. Was wondering whats the difference between the two? :fingers-crossed:
Original development is development of roms/kernals that are not based on samsung and touchwiz. The other development forum is all based on samsung touchwiz.

Galaxy S III and Android Open Accessory Protocol

Has anyone here gotten the Galaxy S3 to work with a Android Open Accessory ???
I know we'll need Jellybean for Android Open Accessory 2.0 support...
Is this something you have developed?
No.
This belongs in general section or q&a.

New User Question

This Might Be one of the dumbest question to ask. but yeah I feel like im lost here in the s2 section of xda.. So i am seeking answer:
There is three section for developments:
Galaxy S II Original Android Development
Galaxy S II Android Development
Galaxy S II I9100G Android Development
My Phone Model Says GT I9100 so I guess third one is not for me.. but about the 1st two im confused. Which one should is for my phone?
Please help me out.
This has already been discussed on XDA.
Original dev is for things derived mostly from source, ie kernels and AOSP based roms etc.
Other section is for derivative roms, ie roms that are based on other built orms but had some modifications like apps/themes/fixes etc.
Bottom line, pick any ROM from the first two and you're golden. Steer clear of the i9100G forum.

thanks for your reply.. now it seems cleared to me..

[Q] Why are there two development forums?

what is the difference between "Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4 Android Development" and "Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4 Original Android Development"?

TW development is for modding your stock touch wiz ROM basically.
AOSP stands for Android Open Source Project and that sub is for things related to modding custom ROMs.

TW = Touch Wiz. It's the skin that samsung puts on its phones. ROMs that are based off of it are in the "S 4 Android Development" forum
The AOSP ROMs are what google intended for its users to see. ROMs based off of it are in the "Original Development" forum.

ahh! got it. Thank you!
In other device sections the non original section is also used for ROMs that are kangs or tweaked versions of released original roms. Basically not just touchwiz

Original dev is for any software which incorporates significant original work. Non original dev is for software in which the author incorporates only minor changes.
I understand it but it drives me insane. hated the day they started that

NO!
The answer is in the stickies on top of both sections
Original means it was written by the developers and offers something unique.
Any AOSP clone or CM clone goes in regular development.
Only the original CM, AOSP, AOKP, PA, MIUI releases go in Original development
And OP:
Please read forum rules before posting
Questions and help issues go in Q&A and Help sections
Thread moved

Its still dumb. Its annoying enough trying to find a rom that works with the cryptic thread titles without having to look in two seperate forums IMO.

Why it was done was to reward developers and teams who spent weeks writing 1000's of lines of code to build a unique ROM or bring one to that particular device. It separates those particular ROMs and should provide a higher end of user and more professional environment for the developers. This is XDA-DEVELOPERS.com so we pool the developers' needs and requests and do the best to provide the environment they are looking for. Many are under the false assumption this is a support site.
Thanks I sort of lf get it out now. One is just to modbthe touch wiz while the other one is for like aokp cm and other roms right?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
its not a support site, what kind of site is it? It has the makings of a support site, Downloads, FAQ, Q&A, Solutions to problems. Just a friendly inquiry.
