[Q] Disable screen on for text message? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Ok maybe I'm totally dense and I'm missing something totally obvious, but how, if possible, do you disable the screen coming on when receiving a text message?
Thanks in advance.

If you use something like GoSms, they have an option to turn it off in their settings.

I found in the other note 2 forums that people have modded the existing apk to include this option. Hopefully it gets ported.

Different text tones for contacts?

Are we able to do this in Sense? I know you can on iOS, but I have yet to find a setting for it in Sense.

im also looking for something like this, and also have the ability to repeat notifications at set times. I work in a pretty loud and fast environment and its pretty hard for me to even feel my phone vibrate much less hear it, which is why I need it to keep repeating. Something like lightflow would be nice and the actual light doesn't really matter to me, just the repeating and ability to set individual tones. I tried lightflow, but I couldn't get it to work.
The only thing I can find in sense is different ringtones per contact. As far as multiple notification reminders, I think GoSms Pro (free) supports that.

Yes. I'm using go sms right now, but hand cent also supports text reminders. I just need to find a way to get custom text tones. I like to use it that way so I know who to reply to first in order of importance.

Hmm. I'm trying out light flow today. It seems to be working okay for right now.

I gave lightflow a try, but for some reason I couldn't get my phone to wake up so I promptly uninstalled it once I got it to boot. I was messing around with different settings in there so maybe ill leave them on default and ill give it a try. I think I checked the special htc option in the settings, and that might have done something.
In Handcent if you go to an existing conversation there is an icon in the top right of a person with a gear. In this menu you can set custom notification ringtones for that person.
I use chompSMS and it allows me to assign custom ringtones for each contact. I had to download it through their site.

Oh really now? Maybe there's something like that in go SMS.

Predictive text after 4.1.2 upgrade.

As title suggests, I updated my phone yesterday. Now, when typing, if I spell something wrong, instead of changing automatically when I press space, it doesnt change the word, even though its highlighted blue. Is this a bug or feature and its very annoying ane may force me to flash back to older version. I cant see any options in the settings menu like before, just new options to sync spelling with facebook and Twitter etc... thanks for help.
Works fine for me
There are no more options anymore in settings for predictive text. You use to be able to edit your own words and specific predictive text data but your cant edit anything now so unsure what to do. Im sure I have read else where others having the same problems?
mine is also doin the same thing. Also noticed it no longer gives you the option to change the full stop to something else without holding
gotta be a bug. why highlight in blue if it no longer has a function anything? This is going to be very annoying.
It's what made me stop using the Samsung keyboard, prediction only seems to work when you use continuous input (swype) but even with that enabled, if you tap out each letter it will not work.
Glad its not just me anyway!
Meh, Android 4.2 keyboard rocks
I like the the way the keyboard behaves now. I can type my words without the auto correcting putting in the wrong words for me inadvertently and not having problems putting in words the the prediction doesn't know about.
I will also confirm that after updating to 4.1.2 stock - the auto-correct/predictive text system in the stock samsung keyboard seems to be no longer functioning correctly.
When typing the words are highlighted in blue however upon hitting space the word isn't corrected

+1. That's the main reason I now use Samsung keyboard. If I want it to auto correct I just select on the word.

never bothered with stock Android keyboards or Samsung's effort at "continuous text input" (well I gave it 5 minutes and kicked it into touch).
There is only one keyboard for continuous text input, and why would you want to tap letters individually any way? - its called Swype...its an absolute MUST.
google it, go to website and download swype beta installer
You guys are right, auto correct has been disabled in 4.1.2. I'm really hoping it's re enabled for the next release because I've never been a fan of aftermarket keyboards. I prefer the stock one. I would downgrade to 4.1.1 but I was getting some bugs on that which have been fixed on 4.1.2. Let's all hope it's re enabled for us!
Same problem here and I hate it. I've now switched to SwiftKey because of it.

Same here. VERY ANNOYING! Why change something fundamental on the keyboard in this way? It's awful.
Regardless of what your keyboard preference is, you become accustomed to using it and it's ways until you can almost type blindfolded. Making changes like this just bugs the hell out of me!
Response from Samsung support in 2 hours :good:
I think I'll be trying Swift Key...

Thank you for contacting Samsung.
I am sorry to hear that you do not like the features on the keypad since the latest update and i can understand it is frustrating.
Regarding your query this is a limitation of the new android version your running. However we always look forward to hearing customer feedback and comments.
I've passed your comments on to various departments who will use them to improve the products and services we offer. Thank you for your input.

I don't think it's anything to do with Android, Mr. Samsung!
Same problem here.

Has there been any update to this or is it still the same? It's so annoying.

did switching over fix your problem??
what other keyboards out there can help fix this bug until next patch?

Changing the answer screen?

I'm definitely not a fan of the way Samsung makes me answer phone calls on the Galaxy Note II. Rather than just tapping answer or reject, I'm forced to slide the appropriate icon somewhere. I'm increasingly frustrated by this and would like to change it. Is this possible in some setting or via an app?
You can set it so you can answer with the home button. Settings, accessibility, Answering/ending calls.

[Q] Replace call screen

Hi,
sorry if this is the wrong category, couldn't post in any other.
I am trying to replace the call app on my xperia z2 because I really don't like the look and functionality of the stock ui call app. However I wasn't able to find any option to do this (no matter for what device). Does anyone have an idea how to do it? Just to clarify: I am not talking about the dialer but about the screen that pops up if you are actually in a call (with the buttons to hang up, mute etc.).
Any way to theme the stock ui also would suffice. Thanks a lot.

Question Issues Sending Texts.

I constantly find that my text was never sent because I missed the very small send button on my keyboard... I sometimes have to tap the area 2 or 3 times to make sure it registers and sends. I haven't had this problem with any other phones in the past. I think it has something to do with the send button being located so close to the curved edge. Has anyone else had this issue? Have you found a solution? Thanks in advance.
Weird, I use the standard messenging app and it's a paper dart looking icon not on the keyboard to send. Maybe you can look into a different app or keyboard layout even.
