Laggy audio app - AT&T LG Optimus G

So I finally picked up an AT&T Optimus G in Canada solely for the microSD slot.
I put my 32GB card in and everything seems to be going fine.
I'm trying to use the LG Music app to play my music and it lags horribly.
Skipping songs takes 3 seconds to register, scrolling the album view reminds me of the Nexus One.
Is anyone else seeing this on their phones as well?
Note: My 32GB card is full with like 90% music.

I use google play and it takes some time to figure out whats going on when i skip through a song.. sometimes i need to close the app, i think its.cause its reading off of the sd card

My computer at home has about 20gig of mp3 music and it lags sometimes.
Your phone has 30gig of music on a relatively slow media. Its going to lag. Additionally, LG is not known for quality software either.

My phone has less than one gig of music. Its just extremely laggy from the SD card.

I have 10 gigs on my SanDisk 16gb sd card and Poweramp plays it perfectly.

I got a 20GB mp3 folder on my 64GB Sandisk Class 10 card right now, it's working perfectly. That being said, it still worked fine for the 13GB folder on my old 32GB class 6 card...
However, the 64GB class 10 sandisk is $49.99 and even Prime Eligible on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007WTAJTO/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

[Q] Class 2 SD Card?

I have a Class 2 16GB SD card, I was thinking about putting in my Evo3D.. it'll obviously take longer to put files on it/copy off. but are there any performance issues i should be concerned with? - in the OG Evo4G. 720p video worked fine. .. But i have'nt worried about it, now my 8 GIG is filling up quite quickly. So I wanted to see what performance issues i would have, or what i should be cautious of. if i switch cards..
Memory cards
The class 2 appeared to work fine in the EVO4g, but I always felt like the video might be choppy and jumpy! I didn't really notice the difference until I got the EVO3d. The class 4 in the 3d is way faster with file transfers, and the video is A LOT smoother!! Also, any apps that you install to the video card will run much slower on the class 2. The price of cards has dropped so much that in my opinion I would not use the class 2 and go pick up a higher capacity class 4, preferably class 10. You will be very happy that you did.

I've actually been wanting to get a 32GB class 10. .. but i've read lots of reviews on them failing.. so I have'nt.. as they apparently are'nt all reliable.
I recently purchased a 32GB class 6 for $29.99 on Ebay. A guy is selling them with "Or Best Offer". Faster than class 2 & 4 and cheaper than class 10. The EVO will not read/write at class 10 speed so unless your planning to use it in a high end camera, you will not benefit from the extra speed...
The 3vo was meant to operate with no les than class 4

Review: Best Buy's PNY 32Gb class 10 MicroSD

I bought one for $69.99 and put it in my phone. Using SD Tool to check, the result is awesome: Reading speed=>9MB/s, Writting speed>20Mb/s. Transffering the Transformer movie from my old HD2 Sandisk 16Gb class 2 to the new PNY took less than 2 minutes for a 1.5Gb
But then all of my media player (stock HTC, Cloudskipper, Winamp Pro, Rock Player, QQ player ect... none can access those media files but Root explorer still can see them and able to played the file from within Root Explorer app
I put back my old HD2 Sandisk 16Gb class 2 back into the phone and everything fine and all the media player apps works flawlessly. This told me that the problem are not from my phone/apps but rather from NPY SDCard - somehow
BTW the card is pre-format with FAT32 - as same with my old one
Any one using PNY microSD card and facing the same problem? If so please replied so we can alert others

No I did not but every other function works well - I've been using the card for the whole 24hrs and media files played well until 24hrs later. Perhaps I should try to format it then. Will report back.
BTW: How do I format the card with the phone Binary? By using CWM?

I saw function like: Unmount SD Card, Erase SD Card, SD Card Encryption, Make more space and factory reset but none as format
I think by erase SD card it means the same thing all my other phones don't have erase it says format but there are also apps for SD cards on the market to help you get it done. I got a 32gb and I formatted with my comp it took a bit but everything works great.

My PNY 32GB works fine, never had an issue with it, also bought it on sale for $39.99
Sorry for your troubles
I had bought a SDU32G10-EFS2 PNY 32GB class 10 sdcard and about two months later I began to lose my data. First thing I noticed was my clockwork backups were either losing my md5 files all together or the md5 checks wouldn't match up for my restores. Afterwards it began corrupting my data. I called PNY and got an RMA. They sent me a SDH32G10-EFS2 back. There may be a problem with the SDU32G10 models.

That's one of a hecking sweet deal
I did return the PNY and go to Fry's to check out their stuff yesterday, they had a Samsung 32Gb class 10 for $35.99. Grab it and test with SD Tool, the result is not quite as expected as writting speed never exceed 9Mb/s though. I guess I'll live with it until it ran out of capacity and perhaps by that time the Sandisk 64Gb price will drop a little bit.
My two years old Sandisk 16Gb class 2 that came with the HD2 still works flawlessly and I'm convinced now that nothing can bypass Sandisk when it come to quality. If someone happened to purchased the Sandisk SDXC 64Gb and used with out Amaze, please kindly report back

These are full size cards and will not work with the Amaze I believe (we use micro-sd). Correct me if I`m wrong though.
Yeah I looked at pic and just saw slot in the bottom so I assumed it was a micro that came with an adapter... I was wrong yet again :banghead:

I saw your post on Android-Dev first. I responded over there with the same thing these guys said. Almost a great find though. I'd love to get a class 10 64 GB micro-SD for $50.
Other than read/write speeds when hooked up to a computer, is there any other benefit to getting a class 10 card? I have a 16GB class 4 card in my phone, and it works fine when it is in the phone, ie: I don't have any sort of lag when playing music stored on the sd card, etc.

Well, you need a class 6 at least for 1080p recording... Class 4 can only do 720p. And do a backup once on your class 4... Then do a backup on a class 10... You would be shocked how slow the class 4 is. Same goes for copying files

Is it formatted to a FAT32? That will probably save you from most headaches. I've had my 16g for almost 2yrs with no probs. I save tons of crap on mine. Movies, music, roms, apps...etc I haven't had a problem as of yet.
Wait....I sent this with Tapatalk?
did any of them happen to be sandisks, directly from sandisk website? I have NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH sandisk, IT MUST BE authentic though. Used a micro sd card for the past 3 years, still works.
depending on what you use your micro sd for it depends on what class you should get, a higher class is not always better for your purpose. A higher class has better sequantial read write, while a lower class has a better read write. If you transfering files all the time, I'll stick to class 2 or max 4. If you're trying to shoot movies more of the time get a higher class. there's been a topic on classes of microSD, honestly you don't need anything more than a class 2, it has plenty more write speed than is used by our phone to shoot HD video.
ALSO lower classes are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less prone to get corrupt. keep that in mind next time.
SanDisk is ALL I will EVER buy.
I've git a 32GB class4 that I bought before realizing I need a class6 for 1080p video recording almface: but I've had no issues. I've also had an 8gb class 2 that's NEVER had issues (other than writing really slow) and I've had it for yrs now

Must be bad luck. I have a 16gb class 6 that I use in this phone and my last phone. So close to two years old now.
I have an Adata 16 gig class 10 SD card that eventually went bad on me. They are supposed to have a lifetime warranty so I'll see if I try that.
That microsd gave tons of headaches. My Droid 2 would start acting funny once it went bad. It would freeze, pics would show up sometimes and sometimes now. Lots of forcecloses and my computer would read and read it. I pretty much had to reformat it to get it working again but a few days later the problems would pop up.
I went ahead and bought a samsung 32 gig class 10 once I got my Amaze. So far so good this thing is even supposed to be water proof with a 5 year warranty. It was around $37 from Fry's.

32gb microSDHC

Anyone here use a 32gb microSDHC in their Rezound? If so, is the performance just as good as what came with the phone? Also, any experience with Class 10 vs something slower? I'm pretty sure that would only really affect video but I assume the one they packaged with the phone was worthwhile.
Anyway, I saw Amazon has a Class 4 (slow) 32gb for $19 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0056TYX8U) and figured I might grab it so I can store more music on my phone.

Feel free to move. (whomever)
i invested in a class 10 32gig'er and i would not have it anyother way...especially if you plan on using the HD Cam mod that doesnt compress pictures...absolutely beautiful pics and no lag between snapshots...as far as the video...ive recorded several 720p videos and they look pretty good as well, plus youll have hours and hours of video with even a few gigs...i have about 20gigs of music and some movies and tons of ruu and roms...with the 8gb that are left i can still record 4 hours of 720 p video...i prefer 720p to the 1080p option because 1080p records at 20 fps vs 30 fps for 720p, id much rather have smooth video...i also prefer the lower megapixel settings than the full 8 just because no ever needs to print a picture the size of a billboard...but none-the-less i couldnt imagine my rezound with out one, infact the only thing that kept me from buying a class 6 64 gig card was the difference in speed, it is so much more important than the size
I use a Class 4 32gb that came with my old Thunderbolt. Still using it with no issues whatsoever, and I play music and videos from it a lot.
I got a class 10 32GB on one of the amazon.com lightning deals one time for $31. It's blazing fast. Can't speak to slower ones. I used a class 6 16GB before that, which I loved.
To tell you the truth; I pretty much filled up my 32g. Got a 64g in it now.
I have a class 4 32gb also, haven't had any problems with it. I think the speed is about 8MB/sec IIRC.

The speed class you choose should depend on how you plan to use the storage. If you're going to be writing/reading data constantly, then you'll benefit from a proper class 10 mSDHC. If you plan on filling it up once and adding to it occasionally, then a class 4 or 6 would be fine, IMO.
I have two of these and enjoy the consistent 18MB/s read and 15MB/s write speed: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211558
Does it make the phone itself faster during normal use (compared to a slower card), probably not. However, it makes transferring roms, nandroids and music/video much more bearable. In the end, it's up to you and your usage style to decide if the higher speed cards will be of benefit.
More info on the definition of SD speed class specifications can be read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#Speed_Class_Rating
If your budget will allow, go for a class 10. Just in case you need to transfer some big file in the future.
