[Q] JB Notification shade info - HTC Droid DNA

This is my first phone with full JB and the notification shade improvements. While I really like the added info it seems only the top most notification gets expanded. Is this a Sense thing?? I was under the impression you could expand any notification if it has embedded info. This hurts the worst when you have the persistent wifi notification hogging the top spot.

I think it is expanded if there is only one or 2 notifications, but you can expand them by either pinching on a notification or pulling down with 2 fingers.

Well SMH that's what I was missing. I was trying to pull down with one finger and it was doing nothing. 2 finger worked great. Thanks for that.

How to remove notification bar brightness switch?

Hi I have a Vibrant and every time I drag the notification bar down I slide it to the side a bit, there is a toggle that Sanding added from you touchwiz that every time you slide the notification bar it changes the brightness, any way to remove this? I don't like it....
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
I don't think there is. You would just have to leave the auto brightness on.

Yeah that's what I have been doing and it is alright bit really they have to add an option to take these toggles off, I sometimes turn WiFi off...

Strange up-arrow in notification bar

I have a strange arrow pointing up on the left of my notification bar. Does anybody have a guess what it might be?

Updates available maybe?
Believe I had this after I sent a file via bluetooth to my laptop.
I expect if you open the notification tray (swipe down on the screen) there will be a corresponding entry for that arrow. Also the clear button should remove it once you have seen it.
You're both right! It's an update to google reader. My connection is slow today, it's taking ages. Also, the notification is greyed out and hard to see.
Thanks, guys

Notifications not apearing on notification bar

Got my GS3 a few hours ago, but I have noticed something, on the notification bar all I get is a pentagon with a - inside it (don't worry I have a pic)
I was wondering how I can get rid of this, its stopping my notifications showing on the notification bar and is annoying me.
Up to now this is the only problem with the phone, any help will get a thanks.
Are you sure that notifications are turned on? If you scroll through the toggles in the slide-down part of the notification bar, you should see a toggle labeled "Notification". Make sure its icon is lit up green, like here:
Turn on your notifications, pull down top of the screen slide to the right and you will see it

[Q] Email preview in notification pull down?

Does anyone know if the One has the option to see a preview of an email message in the notification pull down menu? I just bought this phone today and have not been able to find this setting? I thought it was a standard Jelly Bean option, but I could be mistaken.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
mbanken

I think you could just the 4.2.2 gmail apk and should work
Do you mean like this? I just sent myself a message. and that's how it looks in my notification bar. I do know that if it's a single line like WiFi TetherMod is, you drag it down using 2 fingers. So You'd drag WiFi Tether Mod down using 2 fingers and it would expand. (If the notification is capable)
EDIT: BTW, I'm using the stock Gmail app that comes out the market.

Are you on the stock rom? I don't get this sort of notification, and I don't see an option for this in the Gmail app.

Does it look like this normally? If so, try dragging it with 2 fingers. I'm on Renovate. I don't think a ROM can add this feature. This feature is a JellyBean feature. I've had this feature on my Epic 4G Touch (GS2), as well.
The notification itself, if you drag it down with 2 fingers, it should expand. And you'd have more options and viewability. Like in my previous post.
I've also upload 2 more screenshots showing you a before and after of Google Music. It's a single bar, but if you drag it with 2 fingers it expands.
EDIT: Also it is not an option your turn on and off. By dragging, I mean the actual notification itself.

Ok, it appears that this was added by your rom and is not in the stock rom.

As you say, it might be in the next version. Getting this stuff early is a big reason folks root and use a custom Rom. I usually do, but just haven't felt the need with the One. It is meeting my needs right out of the box.

Im pretty sure that you can grab the 4.2 apk for gmail and add it and it will give you that option

Any link for that? I'm not sure it would work over a stock rom, non rooted, but it is worth a try...
I'm interested. Do you have expandable notifications? I mean can you expand other notifications? I've always thought this was just a JellyBean feature and not something that could be taken out and added, or something of the sort.
I discovered that I won't get notifications unless auto sync is turned on. However, even with that on, I can't preview the notification.
I turned it back off because it also lights off the LED, which uses battery, and there is no way to turn that off separately.
I'd really rather save the battery than have constant notification of gmail messages.
The reason its not working for most of you is the battery saver notification. It is listed as a high priority/ongoing notification and essentially kills the auto expand. Expandable notifications have been in Android since 4.1 not 4.2

No its the notification itself... you need to be rooted and use a mod to remove it and then they will work fine

I'm still bone stock, no root, no mods, and I can expand my notifications (if they're expandable.) I have the notification for Power Saver, and this works whether it's toggled on or off.
You have to press and drag with TWO FINGERS to expand them. Not just one.

I was just saying that the auto expand on the top notification is disabled when the power saver notification is ongoing

Sorry, you didn't say anything about "top notification" for "auto expand," what you said (or how it read) was that having the power saver notification in the notifications area was what was stopping folks from being able to expand notifications (with a two-finger swipe wasn't said, but seemed to be implied.) And I didn't think we were talking about "auto expand," but about being able to make them expand if they could...
I just did it on my stock ROM using the two finger method on the notification. I still have my Power saver notification showing also. I wish it would allow me to delete instead of archive.

Clear Viewed Notifications.

Hi.
The Clear Viewed Notifications (CVN) doesn't seem to work, or I am doing it wrong.
My understanding of this feature is that once you swipe down the Status Bar and close the it, all the notification will be cleared automatically.
What I am getting now is that only only the icons on the status bar will disappear. Is this correct or should the notifications itself disappear?
Thanks.

No, the feature removes icons from the status bar when minimised after opening and looking, the feature is simply to declutter your statusbar
