I am a uni student and I need a nice tablet to make notes, record lectures, and read documents with. I am into games too but barely have time to play. I want something that will be useful two years from now. I am big on performance and graphics.
With no potential to attach a keyboard, is it really worth the money for a student ? How long will it take before this becomes out dated ?

You can attach a keyboard. Buy a bluetooth keyboard. It'll hook right up in less than a minute.
I can't guarantee the quality of this thing, but bluetooth keyboard cases exist.

Let's say I have a document open is it easy to highlight with my fingers ? Nexus 7 is attractive but with 1gb of Ram I just can't ponder it. And battery life ? Decent ?

e Nexus 7 is a powerful enough device with 1gb RAM which only sounds insufficient due to the 2gb devices that have come out(nexus 10). You could also consider the Asus Transformer series as you can get a keyboard dock with a built in battery and a full sized USB port, also a micro SD card slot but you won't get the vanilla android experience and timely updates like you will on the Nexus. It depends on what you prefer. Hope that helped.

Most tablets don't have specific keyboard attachments made by the manufacturer; Asus is the exception, if you think you need a keyboard, check out the Transformer series of tablets. I owned an Asus Tf700 tablet w/ the keyboard dock and IMO found the keyboard too small for accurate/quick typing. Instead, I use a Wacom Bamboo stylus and digitally "handwrite" my notes using two apps; 7Notes & Evernote. 7Notes is a keyboard replacement for handwriting text and actively converts your writing to typed text; in combo w/ Evernote, I love it. At the end of the day I have clean, organized & typed notes saved in the cloud on my Evernote account.
Me? I have a laptop w/ normal sized keyboard for typing; I bought my tablet for just that..a tablet lol.
My reasons for getting the N10:
- Pure Google/Android experience & almost instant updates. (2 yrs use is absolutely achievable w/ a Nexus device)
- Great specs & design doesn't look anything like an iPad + the display is gorgeous.
- And of course school; this includes taking notes as I'm also a college student.
Also, Highlighting text is pretty straight forward & easy for copy/paste actions.
I said to 1gb referring to the nexus 7. And using Bluetooth as a keyboard would kill battery. I'm on my phone will get to my desktop soon and research. I love the bonus power from the Asus tho.

I have the exact same requirement too. I plan on reading docs, books, making notes and watch movies/tv shows occasionally. I plan on getting the nexus 10 seeing as it has the best screen res amongst all android tablets, thereby making reading books like harrisons medicine more convenient.
That being said, I will probably sell the N10 and order a Note 10.1 2 with a full HD display the moment it becomes available(at some point in the future). From what I've seen, the productivity on a note is unparallelled amongst android tabs.

Waiting game is hard, but be strong and wait till CES comes around. For a student, having a Wacom stylus is a must and N10 simply doesn't fit the bill. Like a previous poster said, lets hope they release higher-res followup to the Note.

Exactly..I plan on buying the N10 when I go to the US in Janary. I won't be taking it if there is an announcement of a new Note at CES(which is unlikely, considering its only been a couple of months since they brought out the Note).

Battery life is fantastic. And in regards to "not enough apps for tablets", there's really nothing Google can do about that. That's up to app developers, not Google.
Not to mention, that Android tablets never reeall had the issues other tablets had.. most scale perfectly, and you wouldn't know they aren't for tablets (this goes for things like many games, web browsers, office aps, etc) . Those that do have problems are normally quick to get updates... frankly, the the issue is really overrated ..
I'm a student and I have been using it to study, although not take notes. I would not recommend this for taking notes because of the lack of the palm guard. Makes it very difficult and awkward to take notes on. As other posters have said, get the Galaxy Note 10.1 if you would like to take notes seriously. However, the Note 10.1 I ultimately decided against because the screen resolution got terrible reviews and I am huge on that, also the vanilla Android experience was too much for me to say no to. I really enjoy my Nexus 10 so far, and can get over the fact that there is no palm guard. Its a great device for the price overall

If you don't think the N10 is worth $400, you have a rude awakening coming when you see how much comparable tablets are in the marketplace, especially ones with stylus support out of the box!

Is definitely hard to beat for many aspects but this tablet just isn't right for you, I can respect that although you may ultimately be displeased with other tablets for reasons that the nexus 10 excels in. I do think you ought to look into the note 10.1 if you are most concerned about note taking. Good luck finding the right gadget sir or madam

I've considering a Tablet for the past month. Debating between the Galaxy Tab 10.1, iPad 2 (if I sell my iPod Touch 4) & Eee Transformer.
The latter looks like it will be the best but I want to hear your experiences. Not getting any 3G/4G models as I'll be tethering it via my EVO 3D.
Too bad the HP Touchpad is too hot for the shelves.

I honestly love the transformer. Didn't think I would use it much but I bought it and then the dock a few days later and sold my netbook. The battery life is what drew me to it and the price. I returned the ipad 2 cause I wanted my paid apps plus it just didn't do it for me even though its a great piece of hardware. I use my TF all night at work tethered to my Co workers evo and couldn't be happier. Honeycomb has its flaws for sure but most can be overcome with apps for now and its getting better with every update.

The xda member with the Dexter avatar was telling me how he enjoyed his TF and he may have just said enough for me to have one on my dining room table by the end of the month. Our house hold has quite a few android phones and tablets but that transformer is really attractive.

Like MyTouch 3G cheap or sturdier? I have to ask because the 2 tablets you own have a very high build quality.
BTW, damn you are an OG member, never seen a '04 XDA member.
Transformer for sure if you're looking for productivity. That's assuming you buy the dock which has an extra battery, usb ports and a regular sized SD port in it. And its super easy to root and almost impossible to brick!

Yeah the Keyboard dock will be in tow, that's what appealed to me. The fact that it's a battery extender, keyboard with touchpad & that it operates via the connector, vs bluetooth really made me love this more.
The low cost is icing the cake for me.
The Galaxy tab and Transformer both have a lot going for them but I think I will wait until toshiba's AT200 drops and decide then.

I got an iPad and a MOTO tablet (xoom ) I like honeycomb is a nice OS , but I prefer my iPad , it has better apps and games, some apps are expensive like numbers bit Damn they couldn't make it any easier to do spreadsheets easier, email is so nice to see and YouTube as well, battery life is outstanding , and i like mgs as well so is great to have the game on my iPad , I wouldnt buy games like Angus birds hd I already have it on my iPhone so is not worth the extra bucks , I wish tapatalk would be like email app to see threads tho but overall great device they have some cheaps docks online , keyboard might cost you a bit if you want one , overall great device having an EVO , iPhone and iPad is the perfect combination for me

I'm using the TouchPad with my E3D and of course got it during the first day of the FireSale. However I think it does depend on your funds and what you'll be using it for. Money/Productivity wise I would go with the TF. Being able to remote into your PC plus the keyboard dock is awesome.

I've been considering the iPad 2, since I do like to have devices with different OS & I do have quite a few iOS apps but mostly because I was paid to use iOS in a software trial using the iPod Touch 4.
My only gripe is the Home UI, file management & iTunes.

Home UI doesn't bug since is a table is.not like my phone, I don't mind itunes , sometimes you think you'll could do more if you could handle any file but it doesn't bug me much, I got the original iPad I got the iPad 2 but I felt like it wasn't worth it at the time and still don't, the original iPad is really good device and the camera and the proccesor doesn't convince me, but that's your descion, I think having two diferent OS is good because you have nice features on both and battery life seems better on ipads then android tablets that I seem , the screen looks really good too

I had an Epic 4G and recently got a TouchPad. After a week or two with the TouchPad I finally got an Evo 3D. Ever since I've rarely used the TouchPad except for a certain game and to show off my TouchPad.
The newer transformers, model b70 which is selling now cannot be rooted. It has a new boot loader. I have a older one without dock and its okay. I bought to have flash...now I am waiting for the new kel- el versions instead of the tegra 2 chipset. Don't have any experience with the galaxy. I also have a iPad one I use. I switch between those two at home and for the road..I use my color nook because of the portability. I don't nave a favorite, they all suck somewhat in my view, iPad strength is software battery life. Transformer strength is cost( but newer ones remember are locked) . If I where you..hold off for a few months till the new chipset comes out..the kal-el as I mention.

i had a wifi xoom but honestly, it's got some market downloading issues(honeycomb related) plus sd card is read only and there aren't as many apps available in tablet version... to me i felt it was unnecessary since i have a 15" macbook pro. I couldn't for the life of me find a word processing app to type papers... so i retured it within my 14 days...
I've been rocking the 32 GB Acer Iconia wifi version for about 3 months now! It's a pretty solid creature and it's all but replaced the need for a laptop. (though my PC is still up and running... Tablets really can only do so much)
There's really good development for it here at xda (Vache's Taboonay is my ROM of choice... He was developing for the Acer Liquid E when I first came onto the android scene, and knowing he was developing for the Iconia was one of my reasons for choosing it) His kitchen is full of goodies too (we all love goodies, don't we? )
I like the full sized usb port for using thumb drives, external hard drives and usb keyboard/mouse... Even my old Sony Cybershot was instantly detected, plus the HDMI out is a sweet feature. It's really fast and stable. I've been alternating between Polaris and Docs to Go for word processing and spreadsheets, and in my line of work (chef), I find it really useful for inventory, orders, recipe organization, scheduling, etc. It's better than hauling a laptop around.
Just yesterday, I found out how to wired-tether my evo to share data without having to enable the hotspot. All in all, I'm extremely happy with it!
I've seen a heck of a lot of bad press about it, but can't for the life of me understand why. Head over to the Iconia page, and read what other users have to say. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1133 It's quite popular among those of us who have given it a shot. I think it's something of a hidden gem among better known brands.

Good god, the iPad 3 is horrible, it's like the iPad 1st gen with just more clarity which doesn't make sense, the 5MP camera doesn't even make up for that HD processing that the pad can handle. It's hilarious because the iPad 1-2-3 are almost practially the same -.- and the iPad is a steamrolled version of the iPhone, poor app support for apple tablets. If not for the iPhone 4 HD the iPad market would have plummet.
I've mentioned this before and will do so again, the only time I will get an iPad is if it completely negates the use for a laptop. The iPad3 is only useful if you have a DSLR like a D700 or a D7000 that can render out 10~16MP HD pictures, then that totally makes sense. Or else the only HD you're going to end up getting is some Googled HD wallpapers. And to get those sexy pictures onto the tablet, guess what! You need a laptop -.-, Atleast the 10.1 accept's USB slot's that can detect the camera's MMC unlike the iPad. Sorry for the rant, but I'm not here for fanboyism of which is better These are just a few reason's why the iPad in general isn't worth it. In the end you're going to buy a crap ton of over priced devices just to transfer a picture without the need for a laptop. Useless devices that too. But if you have the money, feel free
Then again, your choice As per your question, Sammobile may guide you on that quest. Doesn't matter what region it is, EU firmware in general does the job for NZ,AU,UK,US regions. Unless it's a 3G tablet then the SIM does the job of the regional settings, so it's all good.

I was actually thinking of buying the ipad as i really want some decent tablet apps... And while the market has a few it just dosent have the same depth that the app store has.

Well as far as I know the iPad3 is currently known as the Photographer's tablet Since it basically does everything a photographer wants, contrast, gamma, etc. I do however apologise for the fuse blown on the previous Just thought it's best we equip the user's before they blow money on devices that they feel "Hey This isn't as good as I thought it was"
I do agree with you, the Android tablet market is kinda, weird and at an all time low atm, Samsung keeps making tablet's like hotcakes that they aren't even aware of the situation in the android market, What's worse is there are separate apps -.- I kinda liked iPad Appstore for one main reason, it only shows you what can be installed on the tablet and when it does, it makes sure that it works 100% on the tablet. The android market shows almost everything at some point that when consumers purchase an app, they are bummed to find out after downloading 700~1GB worth of files that "Unsupported Device" or some BSOD or worse, lag galore like no other, I've seen the refund's section being piled up lately because of new devices vs no app support.
You can however get the 11.6 if you want, should be coming right around the corner in Q2-Q3 as the 10.1 Note is nothing new, Giant graphics tablet. 10.2 is a waste too. Because of poor tegra2 chip that screws over the tablet. You'd think Nvidia the world's leading graphics team would have done something about this.
There has been some good reviews about the TF, but the TF Prime they say is mind boggling. Then again great tablet, but poor app support atm.

I don't know if it will kill the ipad, I hope it will bring serious competition to it tho.
I've been using 8, and I absolutely dig it. I think software wise the pieces are falling into place for windows 8 to be more of a success than people expect. With the tie in with all the content options you will have that MS provides with XBOX. The thing that they are bringing to the table that android hasn't is content.
Let me clarify we do have play but compared to what itunes offers, android lacks. Android tab makers don't seem to see past initial purchase, they seem to just want to sell you another tablet. If there were more content available then android tabs would be continuous streams of revenue.
As far as killing the prime, and as much as I love my Prime I think it kinna "fell on the sword" right after release.
The Microsoft hardware looks brilliant. I have been thoroughly disappointed with Microsoft's mobile offerings to-date. They just never seemed to "get it". I would love it if they finally got it right, but I am skeptical.
The hardware looks amazing. I'm not sold on Windows yet, I just wish there was an Android tablet that had hardware with as much quality and thought put into it as the iPad and seemingly the Surface.
The only reason why i bought prime (first tablet) was to tide over 2012, and wait for win8 tablets to become more affordable.
now that Microsoft is in the game gives me goose bumps...
i will not repeat the mistake i made with prime... will wait for the dust to settle in.

That looks pretty cool.. As a few people have said, MS have never really got the mobile bit right.. But we will see!
Cool commercial... Dunno about ipad/prime killer. The magnetic cover looks cool, but I wonder how it will type/sit on your lap for example.
Also, we'll first have to wait for it to actually be available and who knows what kind of other tablets will be out by then.
It's not going to kill anything, maybe apart from MS. (allthough I highly doubt that too).
Unless MS changes their licensing deal, OEMs have to pay too much for win8 making this tablet way too expensive.
Regular customers will not buy it at 400 euro's or more. The even more expensive one, with the ivy bridge chip might hit it big in the corporate section, but I doubt the "big bucks" are made there, in terms of repeating customers and sales of for instance software due too an hugh marketshare.
Maybe in a year or two, when win8 has more marketshare and more people know about the product it might make an impact, but not this specific tablet. (allthough it does look nice). But then again, what do we really know of these tablets? What is the batterylife in real life, what wil be the prices?

When the Prime was announced, we all said it was a Killer!
The only ones who got killed were the customers and ASUS reputation as quality brand.
Chill out with expectations, when has MS released a product, that was a killer?
Well, They are talking price range on the good one of about $1,000. So it will be going head to head with ultrabooks. So for twice the price a year from now it had best be better!
The last time I saw a keyboard like this was on ZX81.

Let's hope not. I think it was a terrible mistake on Google's part to partner with Asus on the Nexus tablet.

I honestly think that the Surface (and other Windows 8 tablets) will be an Android Tablet killer. MS will probably never make the inroad they need in the phone market, but they have a golden opportunity in tablets. Just think of the myriad of MS fans that have picked up an Android product (like the TFP) just because it is not an iPad. It could, in turn lead to Windows 8 phone sales increases, though, if the Surface (and other Windows 8 tabs) are a success.
I speak from experience as I have purchased now 5 Android tablets searching for the "one". Let me tell you, I haven't found it (though, I have to say the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is as close as I have gotten thus far).
We also know that MS, like Google, has a road map that is paved with mis-steps (like the Zune - though my Zune 80GB is my favorite MP3) so yes, they still have time to screw this all up!
More and more manufacturers are going to make products like the TFP that actually work - I guess you can say that they will learn from Asus' mistakes.
Exciting tech times we live in! I am not a fanboi of any one OS or manufacturer, so really exciting for me!

The problem is that the boundary between them will blur a lot. It's not clear that tablets by themselves will be a sustainable market. I rather suspect that what will eventually happen is that you'll carry around a core that acts as a phone, but plug it into 'docks' that add things like larger screens, input like keyboards, and so forth. (And, if wireless keeps moving along, maybe not even 'plug in'.)
I will say that I've been a Linux partisan for a while, but I do give MS credit for making solid hardware. There's a reason their mice and keyboards are still popular. From a hardware perspective, this new tablet does look solid and well-thought-out. (Including an actual kickstand? Why isn't that standard on tablets?) I don't have enough experience with Windows 8 to say if the software will really work. The problem is, Microsoft has a history of trouble sealing the deal. (Anyone remember the Zune?)
And I have to say that I'm not as down on the TF201 as some here. My wife surprised me with one (fifteenth anniversary and all), and I've been enjoying it. No, it is not a complete laptop replacement. But - aside from slow and quirky file management - it's been working well for me, and the battery life is delicious.
Maybe a few years down the road I'll buy whatever the 3rd-generation Microsoft tablet is. But for now the advantages aren't enough to make me switch from the TF201.
What I'm expecting:
- Terrible battery life on Pro
- Very high price

I keep hearing that this is not a bargain like the $199 Nexus 7 or $309 Nexus 4 but it really is.
First, you are getting the highest resolution mobile screen EVER. Second, the dual core A15 is the first of its kind if you don't include the chromebook and will not be used in most mobile devices until mid 2013 at least. Third, they managed to make it only 8.9mm thin, something that Apple couldn't do for the new ipad's. Four, it is one of the only 3 devices running Android 4.2. All that for $399.
It is a steal and in some ways even more of a bargain than the other two.
Ignore this post if you are aware, this is for the people that can't see why this is any different than all the other 10 inch Android tablets.
Sounds good but if no optimized apps for tablets I will wait on the fence still and see what happens if apps look the same on n10 as they do on my note 2 then what's the point.

I have both devices. They are a good combination. But every app on Nexus 10 looks better.
For some reason I find myself on my dad's iPad 4 rather than my Nexus 10. Apple is def doing something right.

I have the n7 and the n 10 ipad2 and just sold my galaxy tab 7.7.
Not all apps look better on the N 10. For example the Engadget app does not scale, yet.
Out of all the tablets i have owned the n7 is the best. However I am getting the note 2 on Monday and I suspect it will be my go to device, then the n 10, and finally my laptop.
Another couple of years and they will have finally have a tablet that can be used for work and play, not there yet.

The point is that the Nexus 10 does web browsing, the main use of a tablet for most, bigger and sharper and has the horse power to push it extremely smoothly.
No one says I have a cell phone, what is the point of a 55 inch TV, my apps look the same on it. Why would anyone say that here?
10 inch is the sweet spot like Steve Jobs said in my opinion. Laptop is too clunky and the Nexus 7 and Note are too small. That is my opinion.
To me, an android phone is the best (love my S3 to death). But for a tablet, iOS is the best. I decided to return my nexus 10 since Im not patient enough. I got frustrated with apps on the nexus 10. Apps do not look good and run well on the nexus for now (this will be fixed, of course). But apps for ipad are also much better. ALso never think more pixels are better. WHat matters is its contrast and color accuracy. More pixels only drain the battery.

actually apps will look different on the nexus. specificly, they look worse since they haven't been optimized for high resolution screen .. yet
These arguments are pretty pointless. The notion that there must be a one great almighty device that trumps all seems silly to me. They're both great, just buy which one fits your needs. Its a tablet you use to watch YouTube, its not a big deal.

There is no denying that the iPad 4 is the best all-around tablet out there - build quality, performance, smoothness, tablications, battery life, everything is cool. I'm buying the Nexus 10 however because:
- better bang for the buck, the $100 it's cheaper can be use for the surely coming keyboard dock
- 16:10 - if you're not watching video content why even go for 10", the AR is a nice compromise between 16:9 and 4:3
- Adobe Flash - be honest, you'll miss live streaming and all the flash-based content, and it's not going away anytime soon, N10 runs it well
- extras: higher res screen, NFC, USB-OTG possibilities (media play without root), front-facing quality speakers, lighter weight

I don't agree with these two points. I bought a 10 inch tablet mainly for Web browsing. My note 2's size is just fine for videos but not for heavy web browsing.
And the Nexus 10 doesn't support Flash natively, you need to sideload the apk and download a third party browser. On the ipad there are pretty decent Flash-supporting browsers so it's a tie in this area.

Flash is a dying/dead platform on Android, so no big loss there IMHO. And the sooner it's gone completely, the better it is - Flash had its place but today it's just a bloated and very dangerous piece of crap software.
Of course you would make a thread like this lol. The moderators must be getting tired of closing these things...
Who gives a flying frack what the app "looks" like!! Does it do what it is supposed to do? Does it do it fast? Do movies look better than just about anything else out there? Is the sound great compared to most tablets? Is the resolution higher than ANY tablet out there?
Personally I am about getting **** done with a tablet, you can have your pretty apps, because I already got my **** done, and ran 17 more apps while you are "oooh'ing and ahh'ing" over how pretty your apps are...

you don't have to agree. personal opinions are just that. personal opinions. sideloading or not, i'm not quite sure of the difference. apps are apps. we all use them. so whether or not you have to install an app to get something to work the way we want it doesn't really take anything away from the devices we choose. some cars have ugly rims on them when we buy them from the dealer. we buy and put custom wheels on them. your "point" is moot at this point. but an ipad or buy a nexus 10. who cares.
Nexus 10 is so big it doesn't matter how thick it is within reason. Actually, I would've preferred they gave it a bigger battery for longer life unplugged.

Yes Nexus10 is awesome, but I'm a little bit desapointed by Android 4.2 regarding "no flash player" I know the reasons but currently I cannot benefit from web TVs I planned to watch with my new tablet (Orange TV, Canal+, Pluzz...).

i am really disappointed from google now! say what ever any body wants to say against me, i dont care cause reality aint gonna change!
i am a Samsung Boy... everything i own is from samsung (electronics ofcourse)
in my point of view, Google is a Huge company, Bigger than Apple. google can produce tablet oriented apps! YES IT CAN! i dont really dont find not more than like 10 apps that are ESPECIALLY made for my tablets! i owned Nexus 7, sold that cause of lag in browser, Now i own NOTE 10.1!

On the INTERNET, Flash is by far the most popular video format... and until HTML5 has agreed on a format that Chrome Firefox IE Safari Opera etc can agree on, flash video is still the choice for many web designers. If you are interested in seeing that content, you can either get flash a capable browser, or not see the video... crap or not.
I am the owner of a gnex, nex 7, and note 2. I am aware of the the huge difference in th screen resolution. But i can image the features with the s pen on a tablet must great. So i ask you... What would you do? Maybe i can get the apps working on the nexus after a little work. Thoughts?

I had s2, then gnex, then s3 & now a nexus 4. I had a note 10.1 WiFi +3g version (gt-n8000). My fiancé has a nexus 10. I thought I could get past the note's poor screen resolution, but in reality, I really couldn't. I looked at a nexus 4 screen & my fiancé's nexus 10 & then at my note & was pretty bothered by it all.
If you can get past the resolution, my next issue was software/updates. To be honest, having a nexus has spoiled me. I love vanilla android. I do not like manufacturer skins. I love knowing that even if my hardware is a bit out of date, I will still have the newest software... Not the case with the note. Again, these are minor issues that I hoped to not care about but learned that I did.
I have since sold my note in order to pay some deposits that are due for my upcoming wedding. I don't miss it. I have been tossing around picking up a used nexus 7 eventually, but over all the note 10.1 left me wanting more. I spent a nice chunk on it when it was first available & thought I would love it. Sold it for a nice bit of money, as well.

I bought the Note originally. I was moving from an iPad with the retina display. So the difference in resolution was just too much. So, I took it back and got the nexus 10. As much as I enjoyed the pen and related apps, the higher resolution was worth the trade off. I guess it really depends if you want the stylus. In my humble opinion, aside from the stylus, the Nexus is superior in every way.

LOL, The resolution on the 10.1 is not bad...at all. Compared to a retina display or the Nexus 10 display, it's no contest. However, it's not bad on the Note 10.1.
note 10.1 hands down. i choose that one over the nexus 10 just got it last week and i LOVE it! i can do soo many more things on the note than i ever could on the nexus. sometimes..screen's just not everything and mind you the screen display colours and contrast levels on the note 10.1 is very much satisfying!
What killed it for me was getting the Note 10.1 1st then the others. I buy them all and see what I like. Not all at once. I just tried the new Toshiba SE with the Tegra 1.6. Was not faster then my note but almost dead even on allot. I understand its a cheap model. It had awful blacklight bleed, the note had very rich colors. Getting my Win 8 to see it.. never happen.
Asus/Nexus 10 awesome high rez.. For me you take the high rez away whats left. If I wanted high rez I would buy the new Ipad that have more apps/games that support it. And then trying to get a Asus/Nexus 10 with NO blacklightbleed.. should not be that hard. 1st Samsung perfect screen.
Just try them dont just take a reviews word. So Note hands down. Nexus is awesome but just vanilla. Its the silly things I like.. split keyboard, change font look, the white menus etc. Things I am sure you can ADD to the others and some you have to root 1st.

When i made the switch from my gnex to note i went from 4.2 to 4.1 but surprisingly i didnt miss it at all. The note 2 is an absolutely amazing phone. Never happier with an android purchase since I started all the way back to the t-mob G1. I always unlock and root so i can edit the ui as please if i go for the note 10.
So far i think thats where I am leaning but my decision is not final yet. Thanks for all your advice again and lets not forget... Both are great devices. I am sure i will be happy with my purchase as I always am.

Samsung wins all around wether you have a Note 2 and Note 10.1 or the N10. Samsung made them all lol. I agree the Note 2 is an amazing phone and was one of the reason I chose the N10 over the Note 10.1. I use the N10 for mostly play and Note 2 for productive things. If I need to view a documnet or pdf tho the N10 handles that with no problem. Anything that requires serious work I use my 3 screens connected to my desktop pc as it's best for serious productivity. In the end each person will choose what works best for them in a given situation. Even though the N10 has a very nice screen the 10.1 has a pretty nice one also, even if it's a lower resolution.
My favorite thing to do so far with the N10 is to play emulated games with the controller it's a pretty nice experience. The android games run very well also, so basically I have a pretty big portable gaming device. The PS vita is like $300 plus with no killer games and a lower game resolution. You can basically by a tablet of any size of choosing and turned into a gaming device and still have the abilites to surf the net, stream movies, play music and other apps. My son has a few handheld portables and I after I gave his mother my samsung epic and he saw the games he didn't even wanna play with the portables much.
I do miss not having the extra space a full blown laptop would have but with OTG cable I'm able to hook up my usb thumbdrives or my 1tb external hard drive. So it all works out in the end. Plus I have 50gb dropbox storage and I haven't even used the google drive yet. Plus with my note 2 if I ever need to grab something real quick I can hotspot if no Wifi and download the items. Most likely I will already have the big stuff on a flash drive with me.

Sorry, but hardcore gaming on Android sucks. There are no killer games. And PS Vita running at lower res doesn't matter, its actually good because it can concentrate more on textures, reflections, water effects and so on.

I hardcore game on my pc I built. I never said the word hardcore when describing gaming on the nexus 10. And the Vita still doesn't have a game that's worth the money they are asking for and that's the point I was making in comparison to buying a tablet for all the features they provide.
