coming from a galaxy nexus, it's time for a change. and I'm between the nexus 4 and One X+. keeping in mind the dangerous back glass of the nexus 4, I'm turning to the one x+. but is the 1GB ram vs the 2GB a big difference ? does it have the same acceptance from the developers as the nexus does? (custom ROMs, kernels etc.) any opinions accepted

No, IMO the RAM difference doesn't really matter because Android or specifically Linux utilizes memory differently than Windows. It depends, if you are in the US there is no LTE on the Nexus 4 (you can enable it through a hack but if you do the antenna has no amplifier so you wont get a strong or fast signal). The Nexus 4 will have better software support as far as android updates but the One X+ has better sound and can hold more music on the SD. Oh, and HTCs are better for social networking because of Sense. Oh and the HTC Droid DNA and ONE X+ have the best screens out of any smartphone. Hope I helped!
yeah, forgot android's origin ^^ no I'm outside the us and no network concerns me. so quality matters most I think, any software thing can be solved. I don't wanna mess with a broken back of nexus 4, and OneX+ also gives me 64GB of storage instead of 16.I read many people complain about GPU/CPU issues. are they true ? thank you very much

I have to disagree here. I've got a Nexus 4 and an One X+ and there is a significant difference in the overall OS smoothness. The N4 is perfectly smooth at all times w/ and w/o using a different launcher like Nova. The X+ seems to have some occasional stuttering while using stock Sense UI and Nova.
So there are a few reasons that could be causing this...
1. Sense being bloated and causing the lag
2. The S4 @ 1.5 is much faster than the T3 @ 1.7
3. 2gb of ram is significantly better than 1gb of ram
So to me, it's a combination of 2 and 3. The reason I came to that conclusion is the Droid DNA...which has the S4 and 2gb of ram as well. It's perfectly smooth on that device, even with the higher resolution screen. So sure, it may not be specifically the 2gb vs. 1gb of ram, but there is a pretty big difference when it comes to overall smoothness between the N4 and the X+.
That said, I use my X+ more because the camera is quite a bit better and the bluetooth actually works in my car.

Coming from the S2 which had less available ram than the OX+, I can say that it is not the ram causing the lag. The s2 had no project butter on cm10 and lagged very little. I would say it is sense causing the lag.

So, what do you think ? Should I buy a Nexus 4, having a case all the time worrying of braking the glass, and being engaged to 16GB, or grabbing a One X+ without knowing the support of Tegra 3 in the apps ??

I agree...One X+. Once we get some stable CM10 roms, I'll be all over it because sense is terrible as mentioned above. I'll still keep my N4 though...always want to have a development phone around, even if it's just a backup. Both phones are ridiculously good, so you can't really go wrong.
I simply have to use the X+ because of the better camera and the actual compatibility with my Bluetooth in my car. The dumb S4 chipset doesn't work for some reason (GS3, DNA, N4...none of them with the S4 work), but the OMAP (Galaxy Nexus) and T3 (X+) work fine. Weird. It's just so hard to decide which phone to take each day...this addiction has got to stop. LOL...

Droid DNA, One+, Nexus 4 are you made of money? Which is easier to carry around / hold Droid DNA or the One+?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I just switched from my GNex GSM to the One X+ (AT&T version) Have not used the Nexus 4 however, The biggest reason the Nexus 4 was ruled out for me was the piddly 16gb of storage which was already an issue with me on my GNex, But i will compare to the Galaxy S3 which is the other "big" phone out there
Now first off, I was severely unhappy with 4.2 on my Galaxy Nexus which is why I upgraded, it reduced my phone to a steaming pile of.. You know what.. my beautiful decently snappy and responsive GNex turned into a constantly crashing locking up stuttering and slow phone...and i wasnt fond of the changes made to the UI (Especially the useless lockscreen widgets and replacement of the "lock circle" that i felt was the most efficient thing EVER) But I'm going to compare the One X+ to my 4.1 experience on the Nexus since thats more fair
Its not much of a comparison even then, The One X+ kills it in every way shape and form, The phone is smooth to me, No stuttering or hiccups (Not that the 4.1 GNex was bad, but this is just even more buttery smooth) Everything just zips right along even with Sense on top of it, Personally I dont mind Sense, I actually kinda like the aesthetic over stock android in several places, my bigger complaints are ATT related (Namely being unable to tell my phone i dont want it connecting to crappy 2-bar LTE towers instead of 5-bar HSPA+ towers when im on Wi-Fi so it uses less battery..) Google Now was almost shocking at how fast it transcribes my voice and that
Even battery life, for all the moaning people give it, I find the One X+ about as capable, if not more so than the GNex in terms of battery life (At least with the stock battery) Especially since the One X+'s screen is more efficient, Even compared to the S3 I can at worst call the One X+ equal, and struggle to say its actually BETTER in my instance as the S3 was schizophrenically switching from LTE to HSPA+ every 2 seconds and couldnt make its darned mind up... The One X+ doesnt do this, be it better antenna or modem optimization
The One X+ is probubly one of the most... Jekyll and Hyde phones when it comes to battery life however... When doing very light tasks, listening to music, surfing the interwebs, that kind of thing, the battery is pretty darn good, and standby is VERY efficient....
But fire up a game or something that pushes that Tegra 3 and the battery life WILL hurt... My Galaxy Nexus never was that bad as the screen used up more battery than the processor 90% of the time, Even gaming...
Audio quality is a night and day difference, Beats doesnt work for everyone of course (its an Equalizer curve, Nothing more) but in my case it does work lovely with my Klipsch Image Ones, Even with it off the audio quality is fantastic and far more "meaty" than the GNex could ever deliver even using things like Volume+... The stock music player is pretty darned nice too in my opinion and i prefer it to Google Play Music or DoubleTwist, The external speaker is loud as well which is a welcome change, I can actually hear my phone sitting a few feet away, as opposed to having to basically be RIGHT next to me and then hearing the vibration over the speaker...
The camera im a bad person to comment on it, I do photography a lot (if you frequent Photography on the Net you might recognize me lol), I never thought my GNex was all that bad for what i used it for, but yes, the One X+ is far better, I was impressed by the quick reaction time and such, it feels more like shooting a DSLR than a crappy point and shoot from 3 years ago because of this, its definitely better than the S3 which i found couldnt nail exposure worth a darn which in my opinion, made it a far worse camera than the GNex
The screen is gorgeous by the way, I see why folks said its one of the best screens out there, Good black levels on it, good contrast, VERY readable in any condition and i love the coating on it which you can actually keep decently clean without much effort (Again, the S3 collected a layer of oil in the short time i had it which was a PITA to clean off...)
As for Sense, I see why its love it or hate it, I like it more than Touchwiz as i feel its not trying to ape the iOS design school (Not COPY just "imitating" to an extent) and it feels more original, the stock widgets are very cool looking and such, Eventually ill probably switch it to a more stock looking skin but for now to be honest i have only one complaint with it, the Stock keyboard is awful and i cant type on it worth a darn... I'm not experiencing any slowdowns on mine with it '
Look and feel, the One X+ is easily one of the more attractive devices to me because its understated... at least the US one is, its pretty much a rubberized black slab.. I love how it feels in my hand with the grippy rubber coating, i dont feel like im about to drop it or anything... and it just feels like it can take a little wear and tear (I take great care of my devices, when i sold my iphone 4 the person buying it complimented me on how it looked brand new despite being 2 years old.. but lets face it, things happen and i like feeling like my phone isnt a little sheet of very fragile glass when i hold it)
The Nexus 4 is nice and i admit i really do like it, I just dont like the look of 4.2 and if im going to flash a custom rom i figure why bother with the Nexus? The Nexus to me is the phone you buy because you want the Custom Rom experience without going through the hassle of custom romming the phone, the lack of more than 16gb of storage was the biggest reason however, Not all of us can live in the cloud due to data caps or limitations in the data network.. if the Nexus 4 had a 32gb option... I might have bought it.. but then throw LTE into the mix where I am and honestly, LTE is a very nice thing to have, it works great when i leave my house after all and thats where it matters the most
Sorry for the long post guys, but i wanted to give my opinion
I think your long post convinced me. its worth the money, you take a 64GB instead of 16, you can flash anything (eg. project butter) and you get apple-ish build quality. that's enough for not thinking it anymore, this phone may be the faster around. I will go with it, I'll buy a One X+ instead of N4. I cannot afford worrying if its glass breaks or anything. One thing is, I'm a Mac user and I wanna know if rooting is as easy as with the nexus. Is it ?

Since you have both the One X+ and the Nexus 4, could you comment on the in call audio quality of each? I'm especially interested in how well the active noise cancellation works on each phone. If you're in a noisy environment how does it sound for your caller? I've found phones can vary a lot in this respect. They tend to vary both in terms of how much of the background noise they really filter out and in terms of the quality of one's voice to one's caller with the active noise cancellation working (sometimes in can make one's voice sound very processed and robotic). Thanks for any comments on this.

Yes. I would highly recommend it. The only thing the GNex has that this doesn't is instant root, and NFC. We will get S-Off soon, and then can flash ICS roms, and to be honest, how much do you really see yourself using NFC? I got mine on launch and love it. My only gripe is VZW's 4G is down right now (Nationwide Outage). I constantly get 42Mb/s download speed on it. But in the end, it all comes down to what you like the most. AOSP, or Sense. Samsung, or HTC. I personally love Sense, and many of the devs from the original Incredible came here also, so it was a no brainer.
Rezound has a better screen. It's so clean and clear, it is amazing.
I love this phone, but then I have nothing to compare it to never having used a smartphone before. I researched for the last 8 months, constantly changing which phone I was going to buy (incredible, tbolt, evo 3d, sgs2..) and I'm glad I got this one.
I love sense so HTC is a plus for me.
Poke around the forum and check all the threads. Loads of comments all over the place.
verizon g nex won't have NFC actually(at least not stock).
both phones are comperable, just that the GN does not have microSD support but it does have a slightly bigger screen.
additionally, Rezound has a better camera & of course its biggest selling point.... "Beats By Dre". w0rd

really??? There have been many threads started already on this topic. Walk your lazy ass down to the verizon store when the nexus gets released (if ever) and play with both of them. We know nothing about you and your needs.
Rezound is the hands down winner. The Dev's who got their hands on it, coupled with reports of the bloat, lack of Google Wallet for Isis, etc have made me turn my head further from even considering the Nexus a viable option even as a warranty replacement device if the option ever arose. I would kick the CSR through the phone if that happened.

Thought this question seemed familiar . Honestly in the end it would be best for you to just try them out both and see what you like. I'm happy with the Rezound it's hands down the smoothest phone I've used. Even with all bloat and stock launcher, I've recenly debloated and de-sensed and have like 500 MB of RAM free upon reboot or when I end apps w/ go launcher. Couldn't be happier with this phones performance, build quality, and most importantly the call quality. I've never been impressed with any Sammy phones for call quality or build quality, cheap plastic and tinny sounds.
I have had my Rezound since launch and have to say its an extremely nice phone. I am in the lucky position to be able to have a Rezound and also be able to get the GNex when it comes out. But without it being in my hands I would say the Rezound is by far the king of the Android phones for now. On the plus side: First, 16GB built-in and a 16GB micro SD card which is expandable to 32 for a grand total of 48GB. Second, best screen out and is better than the GNex. Third, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor (also at the top of the market). I could go on but you get the point. The plus side of the GNex is that it is Google's "phone". Google likes to save all of their newest/best technology for the Nexus line. So that basically guarantees updates and most of all a development community. I am definitely excited for the GNex but the Rezound is definitely a solid phone that will not disappoint.

how are we supposed to compare??? We don't have the nexus either. How about asking people who have tested both devices? Like Android central, engadget, the verge.
Though all will say the galaxy nexus is superior based on it being vanilla android.
Nexus lacks expandable storage, has a lower camera and less ppi on the screen. I don't like samsung products, so it has to blow away a htc phone for me to get it. My rezound has 46gb of storage, and is here now.
Yeah, expandable storage. It's even more than advertised. I saw a post in accessories where someone put in a 64gb card and the Rezound formatted it and it's working. So 80gb total. Pretty sweet.
See the multi-quote button? It is usable you know?
I wouldn't recommended the Rezound until the bootloader has been unlocked. Clearly it will have to be unofficial since Verizon decided to cockblock the official unlocking.
I got the Rezound shortly after it came out and will be exchanging it for the Galaxy Nexus when it arrives. The Rezound is good (much better than my aging Nexus One) but I don't care for HTC Sense and want a Google Experience phone. Not a fan of the Rezound's locked bootloader either. As for Google Wallet on the Nexus, it will likely work after rooting. See: http://gigaom.com/mobile/galaxy-nexus-and-google-wallet-my-first-nfc-purchase/
I went from the Blackberry Bold 9700 -> OG Evo -> Evo 3D -> Rezound. To give you my history. My girlfriend has a Captivate (the retarded cousin of the SGS line). I've used all of these extensively.
Obviously the Rezound is the best one. I honestly wasn't expecting a huge difference in performance between the Rezound and E3D, I wasn't sure that the extra .3ghz/core would make up for the pixel count difference. I was, however, pleasantly surprised. Again, obviously, best performance I've seen out of a phone. If you don't like Sense then use a different launcher. Yeah it's heavier on resources but I have yet to use a single app, play a single game, etc. and notice any lag whatsoever. This is, serisously, not an exaggeration.
On the other hand, I currently have Team Hacksung's alpha ICS port on my girlfriend's captivate (build 7.1) and it is gorgeous and snappy. Surprisingly snappy. Not that I am at all jealous of her hardware, but I now seriously want ICS on my Rezound. And my Touchpad. However, I am willing to wait.
All it comes down to, in my opinion, are these three things: Do you like Samoled more than SuperLCD? Do you like Samsung phones in general? (If you've used one you know what I'm talking about - thin and light, yes, but to the point of feeling like a happy meal toy). Can you wait a few weeks/maybe months for s-off/a good ICS port for Rezound?
And, beyond that, which feels better to you in general? Wait until the Nex hits the store and go pick one up. The one that feels better in your hand and that you like looking at more is the one for you.
Also, check out the Rezound's camera software. The HDR backlight mode and low light mode are killer.
Them's my thoughts, anyway.

That's pretty much what they're saying for the Nexus that it's "superior" because of ICS. Imo the hardware on the Nexus isn't as high quality as it could be. Pentile matrix for the amoled screen, plastic casing, sub par camera, external speaker lacking in volume. In the end it's personal preference.

No problem. I hope it gives you the additional insight you seek to make your final decision.
I love my Rezound, I consider it the best phone/smartphone I have ever owned, and I am 45 and have owned a helluva lot of phones.
Am I a bit disappointed by no S-off yet? Not really, it will happen one day. I've been keeping busy rooting other phones lol. I rooted my wifes Thunderbolt and installed 5hift AOSP for her yesterday. Today I rooted my father in laws new HTC DInc2, and installed CM7 for him. His phone was a bit more work as I had to downgrade GB 2.3.4 to 2.3.3, and had to downgrade the hboot also.
Is the Galaxy Nexus a great phone? No, not in my opinion. I have never liked Samsung phones. They feel cheap, and their SAMOLED screens have always looked cartoonish to me.
I'll stand by my Rezound, root/s-off or not . The Rezound does so many things so well. I really can't find anything I don't like about my Rezound!

I am really stuck here. I love the One X's SLCD2 display and sense, but I think the SGS3 will have better battery life and a removable battery (correct me if I'm wrong), so I would really appreciate an un-biased answer, I have until the 4th of May to make my mind up completely. A poll has also been attached. Thanks!
We don't know anything about the s3 yet. You seem to not have fallen in love with that phone or you wouldn't be asking, so send it back.
But, the s3 isn't even being announced until the 3rd, and who knows how long we have to wait for a release? And depending on where you live it could be longer (might not be worldwide right away). So in that sense, keep your 1x.
You also need a 'don't give a ****' option in your poll
If you're asking this it would suggest you aren't overly fussed on the One X; I wasn't either for the short period I was using one.
If I was in your shoes I would send back and wait for the release of the S3; or at least wait till the 3rd and see what is unveiled. I think the S3 is going be better than the One X; and I am pretty positive it will be a removable battery since Samsung are known to hate internal batteries.
Touchwiz on the S2 did ruin stock ICS, but remember touchwiz 4.0 was designed for GB, the touchwiz on the S3 will be designed for ICS, so it will have more of an ICS feel which will be sweet.
I am going try get my hands on one, my work will be getting one hopefully; but I wouldn't get much use on it.
*snip* SIII is released, comments retracted.

And TouchWiz doesn't?
In all honesty OP, you're best just sitting on the One X until the S3 is officially announced and you can see how the specs really line up. Give it a week, there will be 10 reviews of the S3 vs. One X and you can make an educated decision for yourself.
Personally I don't think there will be much difference between the two, if at all. If the current trend to drop the removable battery and SD card is followed then the only thing that will separate the two will be design.

Have you used SGS2? At least on GB the Touchwiz was very light and smooth compared to laggy Sense on Sensation. + With Touchwiz there comes the only real smooth web browser in the Android world at the moment.
So I was typing a response and accidentally refreshed the page... From my perspective, I would go for the SGS III, though I do agree that it may be a good idea to wait until the third to see if it is what you want. It all comes down to preference, get what you want. I'm a bit fed up with HTC because of the poor build quality of their phones I have used and worked on, as well as the locked bootloaders. I don't think they have much in the way of quality control (I went through 3 Evo 3Ds before I found one that didn't have an extremely yellowed screen). As big of a deal that Samsung is making about their new flagship, it had better be good.
Wait and see if it is the device for you.
EDIT: Also, Sense is a b**ch.
what a great idea to post this in the GS3 forum xP
i'm in the same situation, just that my OneX has backlight flickering. so i could return it and instead get a GS3...
i wait till it's announced, if it has better build quality than the old galaxies, i switch, else i stay.
i still hate the paperfeeling of the galaxy devices

Hah. Chill. Yes I've used an S2, I've owned one since release day.
I have no problem with TouchWiz, it was a joke. I would hardly call it light, but it is smooth. And yes, the browser is awesome (although I prefer Chrome).
For me, right now - before 3rd of May, this question is irrelevant. After SGS III premiere, you'll know what's going on. Today all you know about this phone are rumors. So let's wait till Thursday.
for me ,waiting S3 ,but my girlfriend HTC ONE X also awesome. power phone
AT&T has a history of releasing the Galaxy phones about six months after Samsung announces them.
So don't expect to see an ATT LTE Galaxy S3 until October/November at the earliest.
If you don't care about LTE, then you could pick up a non-LTE European GSM version for $600-$900.
I'd stick with the HTC though. That LTE is totally worth it, IMO.
I'm almost certain that the GS3 will be slightly better than the ONE X, but when it comes to quality, feel in the hand and looks the ONE X is very hard to beat (and lets be honest, Samsung doesnt have a history of classy phones)! Anw i'm torn between the two and i hope Samsung makes my decision hard! Cheers!

Hi
yeah it does look likely that the s3 will only be slightly better
1. s3's screen will more or less be the same as the one x's
2. they both have quad core cortex a9 processors under the hood
3. the s3 may have a better gpu
4. one x already has 32gb memory so sd card slot or not it doesnt matter
5. s3 may have better battery life and maybe even a removeable battery
6. s3 will probably have 4g lte
so it is going to be the gpu performance, battery life and 4g that will give the s3 the win over one x's better looks and feel assuming the s3 is not gonna have the same
BUT is all that really worth the wait...................

To respond to hannibal post :
1. The screen will be better then x's that's 100% sure
2. Sgs3 will have better performance on that quad core
3. Sgs will have better gpu , we agree on that mail 400 440 mhz (prolly)
4. Sgs with sd card slot
5. Bigger battery then HTC X, 2050 we are expecting, quad core using less battery , sgs3 will have green pixel which will reduce 20% amoled consumption
6. agree on that
7. led notification (possible)
8. Samsung will add something new, smth like eye recognition...
Anything else which goes in HTC + would be design
Its not worth to wait , its worth to BUY !!!
You're forgetting it has Touchwiz not Sense. Whatever the specs are, Sense ftw

Thats your opinion, I'm not a big fan of TW as a launcher myself but I'll take it over sense any day. Sense is bloated, laggy and slow.
Have both? Thats what I'm planning on

Hey guys i cant decide if i should get the sgs3 or stick with my rezound. with money aside, what would you guys do? why is the sgs3 so hyped and is it even going to be better?
the rezound has 1.5 ghz dual core while sgs3 had 1.4 dual core. both have 8mp cameras.
idk they just seem similar and idk why this phone has so much anticipation.
any feedback would help
It's all what you really enjoy personaly I loved My epic 4G touch (sprints galaxy s2) and had to swap because sprint dropped signal in my area I like the rezound but I belive Samsung is geared to what I like and they give you more freedom on your phone.

Save your money get the next nexus and profit.
i've been through like 6 rezound so usually i can convince VZW to replace me with a new device. I can't decide though if it would be smart if i should try to get the samsung or just keep the rezound

well the speed of the dual core might be similar but they're running different chips, whihc apparently makes quite a difference in speed and supposedly in battery life too. but one thing samsung has had issues with on cdma from a lot of people's experiences i've read about is poor signal. for whatevre reason they seem to have trouble making good cdma radios.
If you don't like sense, want a thinner phone go with the gs3. If you want a better screen and sense stay with the Rez. I am 90% sure I am sticking with the Rez for now at least but I'll see what else is lined up for the fall/holiday time frame.
I think the biggest thing to consider between the two devices is the size, weight, and the battery life. SG3 has an edge on all of these 3 areas.
the screen on the SG3 can be too big for some people but if you like large phone, then it's the obvious choice. While SG3 is 1.2, it should actually runs faster due to the newer cpu.
personally if I would buying a new phone, I would choose SG3 over Rezound simply because it has newer technology and hopefully will support future os upgrade. The advantage with rezound of course is the ROM development.

Isn't the SG3 1.5ghz similar to the Rezound? It just has a different chipset.
sg3
if i had the money to burn id buy the sg3. i've found sense much more bloated than it used to be on my dinc and i believe its actually gotten worse rather than better. I never thought i'd say it but id say bring on touchwiz(even though u might be better getting the nexus still)

okay then. ill try to convince VZW to get me a sgs3 lol. who knows if they will but since ive been through so many phones.... they gotta have sympathy
I upgrade in august and I will probably either go Incredible 4g or go for a nexus. The samsung interface doesn't appeal to me and I am not a hardware nazi. Give me a phone that doesn't have interface lag and I am happy. the most powerful apps i use is probably my browser.
The sgsiii just doesn't look good as a phone looks wise. also after watching some of the break tests and system teardown videos, I'm afraid its gonna be as fraile as the iphone 3g was.
I recommend waiting to see what Google does with ASUS this fall-ish. The padfone looks pretty awesome.
My vote is for rezound.

just curious. why?
For the record, the dual core in the SGS3 completely destroys the one in the Rezound, also 2GB of RAM is basically future proofing you for years.

Cause its a great phone with at least another 18 months of good life left. ICS hasn't even hit yet, and when it does there will be a huge resurgence of development. The screen is still the best one out there IMO, and I really love HTCs design style.
That, and the SGSIII is fugly. Extremely fugly.
Galaxy S3 has the Snapdragon S4 chipset, while the Rezound has the S3 chipset. With equal clock speeds, the S4 can be up to 50% faster than the S3. Overall the GS3 will blow the Rezound out of the water in terms of speed. It also has twice as much RAM and a larger battery. If you could get one for $200, I would do it. With its specs the GS3 seems like a phone that will still be decent 2 years down the line. I'm not so certain about my Rezound 2 years later. At full price I probably would just stick with the Rezound. The only two negatives for the GS3 would be the really large size, and the screen quality is likely a small step down from the Rezound (although 0.5" bigger). One other potential negative is TouchWiz, though I don't know how it compares to Sense 3.6 or 4.0.
S3 is bigger, faster, and has better battery life. I'm dropping the Rezound for it. UI lag drives me insane, and Sense seems like it will always have it, even though its only a split second lag from pressing phone and loading the dialer, I want instant loads like the iphone, and Sense doesn't do it.
I know the HOX+ has more standard memory than the Nexus 4 (64 vs. 16GB).
Since I don't know that much about processors, could someone compare the two?
Also, is the camera on the HOX+ better, worse, or about the same compared to the N4?
Thanks.

I do not have the N4. I actually got my HOX+ because the Nexus was outselling everywhere. From reading on the Internet the HTC is supposed to have a better camera. The Nexus has a better processor but it actually benchmarks worse than some phones. Google could've increased the performance since then but I have stopped following the Nexus 4 since I got my One X plus. I think it comes down to if you want stock Android or not. I prefer stock Android myself but couldn't get it due to availability issues so I got this phone. If you want stock Android and are going to get the one X I say get it because there is CM and AOKP.

Would you know if there's any difference physically as far as the HOX vs. HOX+ when it comes time to shop for cases?
I've got someone wanting to trade me their HOX+ for my N4.
I don't do alot of gaming, but I do take alot of pictures with my phone. I also like to tinker around with my phones with various ROMs.
I'm just wanting to make sure I make the right decision.
Thanks.
Same dimensions so cases are a perfect fit on either. Stick with international hox cases tho.

Does Otterbox make cases for the International version?
*Edit* Nevermind. They do.
I am curious, however, as to what the difference is.

As you specify 3 things:
Camera, memory, and fact that you don't know about processor.
So..
Camera .I prefer HTC one x+ as is doing better picture but i'm not profesional.
Memory.HTC gives you 55GB and it enough as long as you not use as pendrive to store porns movies in massive quatities or as ftp server .
CPU. Both are monsters,so It doesn't matter, which one you chose.
Value for money -> Nexus 4 (but waiting time is ... bit long).
If money is not a problem, then i will suggest .. HTC one X+.
but I assumed that you care about cpu, camera and memory only.
btw. I'm not expert. It based on my experience with these devices( as i used HTC and i have access to Nexus 4 )
I had a Nexus4 for three weeks, and now I have Hox+
Hox+ is better in:
-Camera
-Little better audio, and louder.
-Better display
-Radio FM
-Its more durable phone. Too much glass in nexus4
Nexus4:
-Smooth, because pure android.
-Smooth
-Did I tell smooth?
I dont know if is only my problem, but Im having problems in Hox+ with launchers smooth.
Games are now Ok with Elite Kernel, but launchers Apex, and Nova.. dont go perfect, as were with Nexus4.
Value for money-> Nexus 4 no dude
Absolute quality-> little better Hox+, but I wants my launchers go smooth now!
I happened to have both in hand now...
I had my Nexus 4 first, I love almost every aspect of the phone. i.e.:
- 4.2.1 stock android experience, and ofcoz the potential much quicker upgrades of future android builds.
- fast, slick, smooth and loads of RAM (2GB on Nexus vs 1GB on HOX+)
- responsive touch screen and best keyboard I have experienced so far.
- multi-colours LED notification light (HOX+ only have green and red colour)
- handsomer, better looking than HOX+ (quite subject opinion though)
- On screen button gives more room to hold landscape (bezel below the display), this may sound very minor, but it really helps when you use camera app in landscape mode
- Faster 3G connection when comparing to HOX+ (42Mbps vs 21Mbps)
BUT, there are some compensation when comparing to HOX+
- Nexus 4 has really bad battery performance, though I need more time to compare this with the HOX+, but the Nexus 4 really failed to impress me in this aspect. Especial I just jump ship from Crapple's iPhone. (I do quite a lot of browsing and a little bit of game (2D game only!!), cannot survive a full day if I use the phone freely without thinking about the battery) This is also the reason why I get HOX+ and give it a try, hope it would do better in battery against the Nexus 4.
- HOX+ has a better camera then the Nexus, both hardware and software wise. Less noisy, quicker response time. (Having said that, I quite like the stock android camera app, just HTC has done even been job in creating the camera app)
- HOX+ feel much more solid and firmer in hand. The finishing of the HOX+ is better. Nexus 4 has impressive design, and built quality already, but the HOX+ just did it even better!
- HOX+ has a brighter and richer screen than the Nexus 4
- HOX+ 's built-in battery saver seems to work quite well and not compromising any data connection (3rd party battery saver on the Play Store for Nexus 4 usually turning off the data and re-enable in regular basis, I dont like that, i prefer instant sync)
Caveat:
- I do not use my phone as portable music player, so cannot give fair opinion.
- for the same reason, 16GB vs 64GB did not bother me at all
- I am comparing them right out of box, no rooting, no custom ROM etc.
So.....
Are any of you HOX+ owners tempted by the new HTC One?
I'm thinking about it but the lack 64gb is not helping.
So what about you?
I'm getting it in August when my contract is up and currently selling my HOX+ on eBay for a N4. I would say I'm pretty tempted
Edit: well it will depend on the development for the One. If it is locked down and has AOSP issues like this phone then I'm just gonna get the GS4.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2
I'm pretty tempted to get it, but I'm also worried about the lack of dev support for the phone. With it being on multiple carriers, I don't see that being too huge of an issue, but my experience with a limited development phone (One X+) has shown me how much I truly need AOSP every now and then. If I see that it gets a lot of development within the first month release, I just may have to go with it. Plus, the dual front speakers are the perfect gimmick for a guy like me.

Totally agree. I just ordered my N4 and will sell my HOX+. I was thinking for a second to get the One but then I am again dependent on AT&T's updates and the dev community to get stock android. I gave the Hox+ a chance but I must admit I hate Sense. I don't use any of the features except the clock widget. It doesn't even sync the adressbook to my google account automatically. I like HTC's hardware but I don't like Sense and this won't change with Sense 5.
The ONE has better screen resolution, but only a 4 megapix camera, has 2 gigs ram, but only 26gig user memory, same size screen, it has 2300mah vs our 2100, 4.1.2, which we may get, both have a quad core 1.7. Honestly, I wouldn't buy it, based on lack of user storage and the camera. My one x+ is plenty fast enough with only 1gig ram, and the better screen resolution will be hardly noticeable on a 4.7" screen. I also have a sneaking suspicion HTC will be coming out with a ONE+ in the next few months or so. I was once a huge HTC fan, but as of late, it's seems like they're purposely making their phones worse so they can release "better" ones down the road. HTC knock it the FLIP off! If you wish to stand a chance against Samsung take everything that rocks with the one x+, camera, built in storage etc, and everything that rocks about the ONE, screen resolution, sense 5 (?) put it in one bad [email protected]# phone and call it a day for the next year or so. Stop this trying to make it better, by making the first release worse, crap.

Everything else aside, boiling down the One's camera to simple "4 megapixel" doesn't really do it justice. They did some neat stuff with the camera sensor instead playing the "more pixels = more better" game. Read up on the One's camera, it's actually pretty cool.
