Battery protection app for JB - TouchPad General

The developer threads seem to indicate that there is a danger running JB of 'bricking" the TP if the battery is allowed to discharge all the way. It is suggested that an app like "Battery Check" should be used to turn off the TP when the battery reaches a set percentage charge.
My problem is that I'm not sure "Battery Check" is working on my TP. The only "setting" I see when I run it is a slide bar for setting the percent of charge. But when I set the bar, and tap "Launch Service", the app exits. I'm assuming that it is now set to turn off when it reaches what I set. The problem is that my assumption could be wrong and being wrong could "brick" my TP. A chance I'm NOT willing to take.
Can anyone verify that "Battery Check" works and that I've set it up properly? Does it actually turn off the TP, or just "sound an alarm" that I'm likey to miss if I'm asleep?

Do you have a version # for your Automateit app. My screen looks like that but there is no "Shutdown" option. I solved the problem by installing "Power Off" and having Automateit call that app as the "Action". That worked.
Thanks

This is weird. There was no shutdown option when I created the first "rule". But, now, if I go back to add another rule, the Shutdown action IS available. And my version is the same as yours.

Go figure, I am glad you finally got it sorted and trust the screen shots helped. You now shouldn't have to worry about a bricked tablet but I would still shutdown if you are not going to use it or are going out etc .

i had that problem too. something to do with some actions requiring root like shutdown, but i don't remember but i enabled it somehow. check settings and look for enabling root options maybe.

When I installed AutomateIt on my TB, I was asked to confirm root access for the app.

[Q] JB standby home button closes app.

Hi,
I seem to have this annoying problem. Lets say I am reading an article in some app. Now my phone goes on standby after 1 minute of inactivity. In ICS, I could press the home button and get back to the app I was on. In JB pressing the home button closes the app and brings me back to home screen. Is there a way to disable that?
Yes there is. Go to settings, than developer settings, scroll down to bottom and uncheck "Destroy any activity soon as user leaves is"
Also, check background process limit. If it is set to 0 then select "Standard Limit"

My developer options were off. And none of that was checked anyways. The annoyance started when I updated to JB.

Have exactly the same problem. Before Jelly Bean this didn't happen.
I guess I'll just have to get used to waking it up with the power button instead until there's a fix.
Btw I'm running stock 4.1.1.

The problem is that the lock screen has not yet activated, therefore commands are passed to the current app running. You need to use the power button to turn on the screen. Else, search thru the settings for where to change the lock screen to lock immediately the screen the screen goes off. This might help.

This problem seems to be affecting those who turned off S-Voice
Just go into its setting and enable it to activate via double pressing home button. The problem then goes away in JB.
yes it works ! i have only installed s-voice apk and thats it !

Already off.
It is the "Smart Connect" application that launches an application called "view".
SC can trigger different events when the phone is placed in the magnetic dock. The default one being to start a slide-show of your stored photos.
With the phone in the dock you can slide from the top, select the view app (looks like a blue wavy thing) and hold down the slide-show and remove it.
Or launch SC and just turn off View completely with the blue switch at the top.

No, it's not. View is disabled in Smart Connect, so there is no Notification. As I said in the OP, even if I put an action in SmartConnect, this popup appears in addition...
Turning the view thing off completely using the switch at the top as described above worked for me.

Not for me, because as I said it's not SmartConnect doing it. View is already disabled.

Unable to auto-hibernate Facebook

Recently, I'm unable to auto-hibernate Facebook app. But if I manually long-press the Facebook row and then tap the Z button, the Facebook app can be hibernated. Anyone knows if it's Facebook problem or Greenify issue?

It is neither. Rather it is by design. Any app busy in the background (not merely running), will show up as "working". After it completes its work, the status will change to 'will be hibernated after screen off'. It will then be automatically hibernated once the screen is off.
This is to allow apps to complete their work before being hibernated.
If you don't want Facebook to even work, highlight it and then tap the three dot menu at the top and choose 'ignore the app's state'.
I am not responsible for any consequences.

I am on the same version. So it seems to have an issue with your setup.
After ignoring an app's state, when you highlight it again, you will get an option for reconsidering its state as in the screen shot below.

Try what Black_Focus_X said earlier. When Facebook shows up as 'working', highlight it and then tap the 'zzz' at the bottom. You should get a pop-up window telling you that it is unsafe to hibernate an app in such conditions and also giving the option to ignore its state. Tick the option box, then OK.

I've now installed what I think is 2.8 beta 3 bit still can't get this to apppear, perhaps because I can't get Facebook to appear in the working state. It does however keep getting started by other apps. I shouldn't have to stop the services manually in developer settings. So how is this accomplished? The whole reason I have Greenify is to stop Facebook and other data stealing from running rampant when I'm not using them.

When it's awoken by another app, it will say "woken by ....." underneath the app name. If you tap on facebook in greenify main screen, then tap the scissors icon in top right of the page, a pop-up will explain then allow you to cut off the wake-up path. Play around with it and you'll find that cutting some wake-up paths is good and cutting others will stop notifications.
I currently have these paths cut-off for facebook:
...notify.MessengerForegroundProvider
...provider.PlatformProviderBase
What wake-up paths have other people cut?

How to force "State always ignored"

Hi,
I would like to know how to force "State always ignored for hibernation". There are a couple of apps that are still popping up and refuse to hibernate and I still haven't been able to figure out how to force showing the message about ignoring one app state. I haven't been able to do it since earlier versions. Guess it is something very simple but I have tried many things and still have no clue

Use AlwaysOnDisplay (AOD) as substitue for missing notification LED using Tasker

You are missing a notification LED on LG G6?
You don't use the AlwaysOnDisplay (AOD)?
You are using Tasker?
I have a solution for you.
The AOD screens goes on if you have a new message and goes off after reading that massage.
Beside the newest version of Tasker you need additional the app Tasker Settings
I have attached two files "AOD_ON.tsk.xml" and "AOD_OFF.tsk.xml"
These are the Tasker task which turns the AlwaysOnDisplay on and off.
How to import these XML as Tasker task: read this XDA thread
Now you have to add 2 new profiles in Tasker
Profile 1 - Notification
Go to the Profile tab in Tasker, and press the "Plus" (+) button
Choose: EVENT - UI - NOTIFICATION ... you can choose now an app (owner application) let's say WhatsApp (you can choose more than one app)
Related task : AOD_ON
Important : leave all the fields TITEL, TEXT, SUBTEXT etc empty.
Profile 2 - Notification removed
Go to the Profile tab in Tasker, and press the "Plus" (+) button
Choose: EVENT- UI - NOTIFICATION REMOVED ... you can choose now an app (owner application) let's say WhatsApp (you can choose more than one app)
Related task : AOD_OFF
If you don't want to be notified in the middle of the night by AOD, you may have that Profile only active during daytime. Short tap the Prolie name, long tap the profile description. A new window pops up, choose ADD. A new window pops up, choose TIME. You can now define in which period of the day the profile is active.
LG G6 settings: Notifications/ LOCK Screen / do NOT choose Hide all notifications !
It works for me on LG G6 (H870)
Have fun
EDIT: for SMS & MMS add Contacts, Phone App and (if possible) SMS App to owner application in Tasker Profile
For missed calls you need to add 'Calling Accounts' apart from Phone app.
Here are the steps how to add this: (thanks to user Vitoski, who found out)
1. Click on the 'Owner Application'
2. click 'ALL' button at the right bottom corner
3. Select 'Calling Accounts'.
4. click back twice and tick to save changes.
EDIT : If you like to have a brighter AOD , please read this useful post added by user vitoski
Many thanks for that!
Thanks a lot to users Dracushor87 and Vitoski for testing and giving hints and ideas!
Edit : new versions of AOD_ON and AOD_OFF tasks
martmarq great post - thanks a lot!
I've been using AOD with Tasker since two days now and in most cases it works fine. It kicks in when the notification shows up and turns off when I remove the notification.
However sometimes the AOD turns on itself, even if there was no notification registered in the system. These are the two situations in which I have spotted this:
# when you go to Display Settings and click on three dots next to AOD - you don't need to change anything in there, just go there and back to homescreen.
# when you connect phone to the charger. Even when you disconnect it, the AOD stays on.
# under some other circumstances which I was not able to pinpoint right now
So, have you observed the same?

When you connect the phone to the charger, there is a notification.... therefor AOD should go on.
You can manage that by choosing apps (owner application) in Tasker. That solved the problem for me.
That might also solve the other circumstances.
I don't have that problem with the display settings... I have just tested that.

A tasker profile is only activated when it is triggered.
If you produce a profile like "active between 8 o'clock and midnight" does that work for you?
