I recently found out that gta vice city finally made its way to android and was wondering if anybody knows if its playable on our galaxy players?
I think that it will probably run but at very slow fps , and is there any way to fix this? Once again if anyone has this game on any galaxy player can you let me know on if its playable or not because it looks very fun. Thanks!

I finally bought gta vice city for galaxy player and although its playable its not very enjoyable. Im getting maybe 15-20 fps with oc to 1.3 ghz while fiddling with some build.prop tweaks and chainfire 3d. Maybe its possible to get better preformance but I would not buy this game again .
EDIT: I tried gta vice city with some ics roms and Remics-UX gave me the best overall performance and its very playable !!
I'm on Remics UX too and I had some fps issues in big games but when I switched to Apex Launcher all was well. Apex Launcher is smoother than the Touchwiz Launcher yet it uses less RAM so you get better performance. I also set number of background processes to 0 so more RAM there too.

Thanks for the tip, im going to try out apex launcher!!
There is also something called an Adrenaline Shot for any android device. This boosts the speed of the device. You should find it in the general section in the forum under speed tweaks, I used it, and it helps performance. Especially on big games, I tried NOVA 3 and it worked well, so GTA vice city should probably work just as good.

nova 3 worked great without any tweks.
those superhiper universal tweaks, I wouldn't trust them rather.

hey guys,
i just got gta 3 and noticed a severe lag. I deleted the audio files, and a lot of the lag disappeared, but the game is still laggy. This is not only for GTA 3 but almost all hd games. Can anyone tell me how to fix the lag. Is chainfire 3d useful in this case.
(sorry for being a noob)
Thanks.
Chainfire3D should help slightly
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
Nah not really. Tried loads of things. Our ace just isn't good enough to run these games

Try using ChainFire 3d,Switch to cm7.2 or AOSP rom,Flash Lag free and Turbo boost, overclock your phone..This is the best you can do.Might make some differences
Thanks for replying guys but what are the settings/plugins that i should use with chainfire 3d?
Thanks again

here is how to.fix the lag with gta 3 and a Nexus
Go to apps/running and STOP all services running exept ,,settings,, & ,,Androidkeyboard,, (so only 2 services left running ( also change.your.walpaper in a normal on so not a live paper) than go to {developer options}transition animation scale. And select animation scale 0.5x (the one avove 1x) download the.full grafics patch for even better grafics http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399258 .
.
And.voila its running from superlaggy to smooth with good.grafics.
Have fun
if gta 3 have hvga version ,
then you must try the hvga version
Is there any gamers rom in our ace???

Uhm try RAM Manager and set it to Hard Gaming (Less aggressive). Hope it helps!
Hello,
i see much videos that people play gta 3 really smooth on the x10 or play/neo (that phones are kinda the same) but on my device it laggs like hell :S i have doomlords kernel with 1,200 Mhz + and Feralab 4.0.
who knows what they did, but our gpu is waaaayy too weak to run a game like gta3, besides the neo and play have newer snapdragon chipsets and better gpu's....also there is a bug in the chipset driver which decreases gpu performance when cpu performance is increased...........anyway.... dont get too excited.... it will always lag...

Hai guys i'm a hardcore gamer, and i like playing games in my mobile too. So i would like to know which rom+kernal is suitable for hardcore gaming in xperia ray. I dont care for battery life, i'll overclock the processor if i have to, so someone pls tell the best combination
Rayonium v7(GB) and Aire's kernel is the best experience for gaming. No lag at all in fifa 2011.

I don't know how I do working Nova 3 on My Ray!! I've Stock GB 4.0.2.A.0.62 rooted...
Check out my tutorial in my signature if you want to optimize your Xperia Ray for gaming
you can use lightweight rom that do not have much preinstalled apps..setting your low memory killer to more aggresive..and overclock only a little if it still laggy cause prolonged oc can damage your hardware since ray is compact phone...
I would recommend using superleggera. It's very light. I do not encounter lags nor FCs while playing. Good luck choosing, mate!

If Unrooted
Its a new device the software is not yet fully optimised for the phone(Talking Stock rom here) And the company has other priorities so guess wait for next update or a custom rom(Cyanogenmod , Miui, etc).Till then limit your background processes dont install too many apps that run in the background or get cached(Facebook,Whatsapp,Maps, some free games etc) and disable the system apps you dont use.
Another alternative is waiting for the game to use lesser resources(Lower memory footprint try mailing the developer for it and explain about the lag).
If rooted
Congrats if you are already on a debloated rom the main thing left to do is to get V6 Supercharger its a sctipt for memory optimisation here is the link

Lags on many top-end phones too.
Plants vs Zombies works well, but lags a bit if the screen gets really busy; hell, it lags the same on my quad-core laptop.
MAME4droid seems to work smoothly for those I've tested, mainly pre-90s games
Angry Birds Star Wars so far works smoothly
JFrotz zips along nicely. But then again, JFrotz zips along nicely on everything....
Subway Surf, a pretty cool game, runs but its a bit laggy. If there were 5-6 frames more per second it would run smoothly :/
Game that work for me.
Dead Trigger works awesome! When there is a lot of zombies in the map at ones it can be a bit laggy, but its really good. Shadowgun, same there. Bad Piggies works good for me, but it does not work as good as i want it to, it can lag a bit sometimes for me. DragonVale, Jetpack Joyride, Where's My Water and Minecraft PE works awesome. Brainsss is somewhat laggy, but it's ok. Subway Surfers is laggy but playable. Lane Splitter runs very good.
That's about it
Some popular ones
I have some very nice games with no lag from EA:
-Need for speed Most Wanted
-FIFA 12
-Mass Effect Infiltrator
-Battlefield BC2
-NBA Jam
-Dead Space
Also some nice ones from GLU (but there is a bug at almost all games-some characters are transparent)
-Frontline Comando (bug)
-COD: BOZ
-Bombshells: Hells Belles
-Contract killer 1/2 (2 has the bug)
There are other very nice games like: Minecraft PE, Shadowgun, Dead trigger, Temple Run, etc.
leon
So we cant play something cool like modern combat ?
PS: I try Dead Space and its cool
I got the following games running
- Eufloria - lags a little bit, but playable
- Sword and sworcery - runs perfectly
- Crayon physics
- Cogs
Temple run 2 works awesome... No lags at all...

So guys, how good does your YP-G70s do while running "heavy" games such as Asphalt 7, Modern Combat 4 and Nova 3, for example?
Most of the times I get huge lag while playing those games...some long freezes and quite annoying lags, even if I'm using Chainfire. I'm guessing this happens thanks to the fact that this device has only 376MB RAM, but that is just a rough guess. The lags occur even if I run games when I had more than 200mb free RAM, so I don't see how I could help it.
Also, please don't forget to post your system specs!
I'm currently running the GingerBread stock rom, overclocked to 1.5ghz and with a 256mb SD Ram Swap.
So, can you guys get a good performance while running heavy games?

Since our player is only single cored and only has 1/2 a GB of ram, performance demanding games do not work as well. NOVA 3 runs somewhat well, but Asphalt 7 is unplayable. Using a custom ROM is the best way to go if you want a bit extra performance.
Sent from my YP-G70 using xda app-developers app
Running on CM10.1 with overclocked GPU seems to work, Dungeon Hunter 4 which was jerky on stock based rom and custom kernel hardly helped but on CM10.1 with Sultan Kernel, it runs it perfect!
Using chain fire maxes out the graphics on games which causes extra lag such as on Nova 3
Sent from my YP-G70 using xda premium
Try using CM10.1 and Sultan's kernel overclocked to 1.6GHz(1.7 is unstable)

Just remember this kernel is only for the CM10.1 ROM.
I got GTA vice city and it works better than my galaxy tab 2, currently using Mercurius reborn RC1 since it seems a bit more stable than sultan, any I/O Scheduler and CPU governor recommendations?
You have only SIO scheduler in my kernel
About governor, when you play then the performance should do the thing. It keeps your device at maximum frequency.

Yup I choosed too low voltages because my device undervolts very well. You can use voltagecontrol from play store or wait for new version which will be probably today

Just tried and the game was kind of laggy then it crashed after 30 sec, didnt reboot though
I am really surprised that there is such a difference between two devices. I can run gpu even at 260mhz.

What IO Scheduler you are using?? To use in games.
Personally I recommend SIO.

The ram is the biggest problem, when you fill the galaxy goes slow, if it had been larger, the performance they would have benefited greatly
over 440 dedicated to user is a probles? Wouldn't say so, really on gb you had abot 360mb!
BUS is the biggest problem, cpu a bit too
