[Q] Best settings for mini.. i/o, cpu, governor etc. - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

So whats the best settings for a lag free but still battery saving?

There are no best settings as such, you can attempt a scalable undervolted processor via governor. You alone can decide the balance of power saving vs processing muscle. It depends solely on your needs

use governor smartassV2 or interactive (smartassV2 is even more better than interactive) and
u can also keep cpu max freq at 800 Mhz it saves battery and at 800 mhz our devices also dnt lag..

[Q] Overclocking

Hello, I have an HTC thunderbolt, rooted with CM7, and installed setcpu and used autodetect and I put the CPU govern to "conservative" with minimum GHz 245 and maximum 1.8GHz and I am just wondering if this is safe? because I read some threads about Compatible kernels and I jave no idea what that means, they were also talkimg about undervolting, which agaim I do not know means, anyways thanks for reading

If your device will run reliably at 1.8GHz, then there's not much to worry about as long as the voltage isn't too high. High voltages and heat can shorten the SoC's life or kill it altogether. Generally, I don't recommend running that fast because the performance increase isn't as great from 1.6GHz to 1.8GHz as it is from 1.41GHz to 1.6GHz. These cores weren't meant to run any faster than 1.5GHz really, and anything past that doesn't increase the performance as much as the numbers might suggest.
Also, a conservative governor probably isn't ideal if you're willing to run a device that fast. That governor would seldom, if ever, use that kind of speed. I'd suggest smartass, smartassV2, ondemand, or interactive if you're looking to see a good boost in performance.
If you're looking for an app to view and adjust voltages, IncrediControl works well. For all the nitty-gritty of overclocking, I'd recommend reading my OC guide. It's in the "Second Post" of my Q&A thread. If you've got any questions, feel free to hit me up.
So does over clocking just speed things up? What are the real benefits

I look at it like this. My screen eats up most of my battery. The less time it's on, the better. Overclocking uses more power for the CPU, but the display spends less time telling you it's waiting. It doesn't really add functionality, just speed and efficiency.

Cpu freq.

Ok, I got one question... Is it ok to use max default cpu speed (if I'm not overclocked). 1024... Or should I put a lower amount...
Sorry for my bad English.

As for me, 800 MhZ is enough for comfortable work.
Overclocking is needed only in "Heavy" games.

1024Mhz is stock speed and yes its safe to use.
If you using your phone only for calling/sms...then 800Mhz is enough.
For calls you can eaven use 600 and if you have your rom rooted you can set the voltage a bit lower.
But from my experience you can easy use the 1 ghz freq and the battery lasts long if you don´t use much your phone.
Neo works fine at 1.4 ghz from performance and battery.
If you use sio i/o and lagfree.
Depending on your CPU you could undervolt it at 1ghz and achieve the same results as it is on 800mhz. But yeah 1ghz is efficient enough just stay away from Live Wallpapers.
i run on stock tweaked perfect battery live on 1024 Mhz
full perfermonce with no problems with antutu cpu master pro

Even devices with 600-700mhz is browsing web, watching YouTube, have live wallpapers, playing music, record videos......and etc
So why not use our phones too 700mhz
Please guys don't forget...minimum CPU with rooted phones have 122mhz
If they work even so low frequency...why not 600mhz....or up.
Edit. I'm using 122-1300mhz, screenoff 122-567mhz smartass/all frequency voltages lowered -50mV.

Depends on user requirements but for me it is smartass v2

SmartassV2 suits best for my regular usage.
I use SetCPU to set diff CPU frequencies. (zImage v1.5 kernel)
Normal: 160 Min 735 Max -- SmartassV2
Charging: 120 Min 600 Max -- SmartassV2
Screen Off: 240 Min 320 Max -- Ondemand
Temp > 40C: 120 Min 480 Max -- Ondemand
Battery <11%: 120 Min 320 Max -- Conservative

i use smartassV2

SmartAss V2 is more balanced yet more battery wise than Ondemand.
InteractiveX is I think the best battery saver

u shouldnt be doing that.
ever wonder why nofrills cpu control doesnt include cpu freq/governor changing based on profile? because the author stated that those changing should be done natively by the cpu governor, not by the phone itself.
and smartassv2 already include max cpu freq on screen off profile and for my kernel i already set it to 320. same as ondemandx, savagedzen, interactivex and smartass, i already set screen off max at 320.
SmartASS v2

Me too, conservatibe has the best powee savin.g. Of course, litte bit slower but not even noticeable, and good battery life.

Conservative + underclocked = Amazing battery life (nothing extraordinary but amazing from Ace's low standard)
And performance....wen gaming...wid just slight overclocking...with charger plugged in.....with back cover out...feels like its gonna burst into flames...

I'm getting what your point is. But, I have several questions:
1) Why that guy developed an application -No-Frills CPU Control when all the features he presented where available under Settings > CyanogenMod Settings > Performance?
(And then he said "you might need a custom ROM like CyanogenMod", if he didn't give profile feature)
2) When I go to /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/smartass I can't read any of its set frequencies.
3) And how come SetCPU is any different then switching the governor manually? Standard procedure also changes the governor as SetCPU does. So how come it is harmful? Just because SetCPU might switch profile too often?
I used SetCPU just to save more battery. I'll disable SetCPU and observe CPUSpy stats and let you know about freqs switching.
No Frills works on a stock ROM dude, he said you might need to use CM because maybe he's afraid stock kernel has a freqlock thingy.

Best governor, hmm which state ? Arnold, that artist ? Hhhhh
Linux kernel governor, hmmm I dont care on these. I use default ondemand, and burnout battery that I dont care, as long as i can see elctricity terminal or I have to use 60Ah car battery in my back hhhhhh.
I didnt use my ace on scientific processing, connecting thousand of android doing parallel processing looking for alien. So 8 hours battery is enough for me.
Peace

[Q] Best CPU Settings?

I am S-On running Shrike's PAC cm10 rom with his latest Erhmagad kernel set to lionheart governer and ROW i/o scheduler. My min CPU frequency is 192 MHz and my max is 1404 MHz but im still only getting decent battery life.
What are the optimal CPU settings for someone who uses their phone primarly for text messaging, youtube, emails, browsing the web, etc. I don't really do much power gaming. I heard on some thread that there is no power usage difference between 192 and 384 MHz is this true?
im using funky kernel 2.2 and im also interested in what are some good settings to start out with...

The difference is almost negligible, and at 384MHz, things can finish up their work faster and get back to deep sleep faster. In general though, like so many other things it depends a lot on your individual usage pattern.

They're very different in how they work so it's hard to even do a direct comparison. smartassV2 is based on the interactive governor and does a lot of "fast-peaking" where it jumps to high frequencies more quickly and more often. Lionheart is conservative based, so it moves through the individual frequencies more smoothly, but it doesn't increase as quickly. I've tested smartassV2 in my kernel, but haven't pushed it in an official update yet, because I haven't gotten it tuned to a point where I'm happy with it. For my use, I've found lionheart to be quite smooth and pretty easy on battery.
If you want some comparison, dancedance is probably the closest thing to lionheart in Funky Kernel, but dancedance scales a bit different and has some different sleep routines, so it acts a little different under light load.

maybe your phone was hot so it was throttling the cpu to make it cooler.the phone runs superb without doing anything so why u need to do that.i am a heavy gamer and i never needed to do any stuff like that.,if you want good performance and battery life use govtuner mod.google it and you will find it ok.its a superb mod.
