Rooted the phone then applied the OTA update and since then i keep getting a wifi error. Im currently out of the country so can't connect to sprint. Any ideas?
Anyone?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
Yup, had this problem after applying this OTA.
When I click the checkbox to enable wifi, it just shows "error" and does not enable wifi.
A factory reset fixed it for me.
My wifi turns on and connect but won't give me any data

The Atrix has a driver related issue that causes problems connecting to WiFi access points in certain countries. I'm pretty sure they have figured out a workaround over in the Atrix XDA section, sorry I don't have a link for you.
Hi,
My name is Fisher, I have the same problem, I have the phone in Australia and I updated over wifi then my wifi just says error underneath it, also 4G does not work. I can turn wifi on by first putting the phone into aeroplane mode then restarting and turning wifi on while still in aeroplane mode. I have managed to get all working occasionally by having aeroplane mode and wifi on, then going to system updates which are greyed out then turning off aeroplane mode by holding down the power button and when ive done that i have a second or so before the wifi dies to click motorola software update that is now not greyed and it sometimes kicks everything on;-)
I have tried factory resetting the phone 3 times and formatting internal sd on third time, did nothing.
Now i have some dmesg logs with the wifi under error, working in aeroplane mode and all working with my trick, so let me knowif u want them all.
I have a feeling the issue could be a sprint app or process that disables it, look at the access/security settings for sprint zone, it can control wifi, everything seems to be briefley activated when i start the phone in the notification bar then wifi and 4g die, so maybe a sprint process detects that the phone has not activated or something and kills wifi and 4g.
I have reported this on the motorola forum in the thread someone else started, look for " motorola photon wifi error" in google and it might be the first hit.

Mine is working fine, though today I turn WIFI off and my battery had a run away effect. The battery drained 30% in 10 min and the phone was at 116 degrees. It also rebooted itself twice but now it is fine and I turned wifi on and off a few times and no ill effect.
and yep I have the update.
Wifi ERROR after OTA update
hello everyone
i am not a US resident and i bought this amazing phone i am using Cellcom Israel Sim card
i just saw the firmware update, the update run smooth but after the reboot i try'd to turn Wifi on
and getting an ERROR.
try'd to reboot the phone - wifi not working
try'd to pull out the battery and restart - wifi not working
the only thing that works is when i restart the phone in AIRPLANE MODE the wifi works
but soon as i turn the AIRPLANE MODE off the wifi disconnected and cannot turn
it on again until turn back the AIRPLANE MODE again.
i do not using any data plan connection i dont have any...
what can i do??
Just do a factory reset. That will solve this problem.
Its a known problem. Lot of people are facing it after applying OTA. Just do factory reset and you should be fine.

Factory reset doesnt do a thing bro
Hi, I had the same issue actually watch the router and say the wifi connect and then drop, i installed wifi manager and then for some reason it started working and i haven't had a issue since.
no sure why it did this but i also restarted the phone multiple times trying to get it syncing and it wouldn't until that program was installed then after i got connected i uninstalled the app and it still connects without the app
got installed "wifi manager" and again error "error enabling wifi"
Factory resetting does nothing for me, I even formatted the internal memory as well on the third time, the only way so far I have managed to turn wifi and 4g back on and also data as data seems disabled is by:
Enable aeroplane mode, restart and then enable wifi, then go to system updates and you will see the 3 options greyed out, disable aeroplane mode by holding down the power button then click on update motorola software and most of the time that has worked for me.
kc_sheets mentioned installing wifi manager, I have installed it but not restarted my phone as I've managed to get it all temporarily working and Ill test the wifi manager when I have to restart.
Let me know if anyone else can get them all working using my method.
For troubleshooting, I know dmesg is good and probably lsmod, what other linux info can help me find out what the issue it, I would not be surprised if sprint has done something to disable wifi, 4g and data as the phone starts up, but it looks like it only disables at the last minute, does anyones wifi connect as you start the phone up, I think mine may have done.
I'm hoping we can just rename the process or app that is the issue and have a non crippled phone what we paid good money for.
Fisher
just flashed the phone and guess what??
wifi working again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! w000ttttttttttttttttt

after reboot the wifi error starts again.
that means no luck
I'm also out of the States and I just started having wifi issues today. It would see the SSID, try to obtain IP, then fail. I just set a static IP, default gateway, etc... and that did the trick.

Hey guys, same problem - briefly:
Sprint customer - overseas for the next 6 months,
1. OTA update successful, achieved over wifi
2. phone restarted, wifi connectivity lost "error" as with fisher and the rest
3. airplane mode allows wifi connection until GSM is connected again, at which point it gets knocked off
4. I /also/ fat fingered my phone during one of the restarts and had both wifi and GSM working, but it's my nature to test things, so i restarted and of course now it's gone.
5. I am not able to attempt wally's re-register with Sprint approach as I will be away from the states untill January
6. I tried the update sprint zone fix - no luck
7. I tried the disable roaming guards - same as fisher, some of them are green and grayed out, no luck
Thank you !
For the past two days I am unable to do any internet activities with my SGS2...
I can connect to the two WIFI networks at my house but whenever I run web applications, try the browser or anything connected, nothing works (Get a page not found error on Google).
The mobile surfing does the exact same thing, with Wifi on or off along side it.
I called my phone's provider and they had me reboot it ficve times with no change...
They then told me to call the Samsung help center (which just opened last week, for some reason, and has three people dealing with all the calls. It MAY take them three days to get back to me.
What the hell is going on?I tried uninstalling alll added applications and trying again, hoping it had something to do with it, but no change.
Any ideas?
you are not alone in this boat
samsung screwed it this time, I bought 2 devices of which one has the same issue.
You will be trying lots of things including FW update or whatsoever, nothing will bring the 3g of this thing to life, I noticed that I can make it breath some net, after taking of the battery/sim for a while, but then after some time it's gone again.
See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17927441#post17927441
Saamsung should be able to replace these devices.

Damn, so my only option is exchanging the device?
Got an AT&T Titan today.
It seems to have wi-fi problems. I've connected it to my wi-fi network but frequently the phone refuses to *re-*connect to it. It can see the wi-fi access point and shows it with full signal strength but "forgets" to reconnect. When I tap on the connection in the list in wi-fi settings it will usually connect but sometimes will put up the popup saying that it could not connect.
I do not have this issue with any other device on the network (and I have many). I suspect that this related to the issue being reported on the other thread in this forum, that the phone starts to prefer 3G over wi-fi even when wi-fi is connected. There's a similar issue with the Radar.
Anyone find a way to work around this, maybe with some magic settings on the wi-fi access point?
Edit: maybe my AP? I'm trying a different one to compare.
Exactly the same problem here.. Wifi is unstable as hell, when it's been on for some house.. You never know if and when it's gonna connect again.. HTC drivers
No problems with WiFi here. My connection is always stable even when switching to other networks.
Sent from my HTC Titan using Board Express
Update: I've done a few things with my wi-fi AP and at least one of these measures seems to have helped, as I've not seen the problem since:
* Turned off 802.11b/g/n, turned on 802.11g only
* Turned off QoS
* Changed wi-fi channel to 5
* Added a second AP also set to 802.11g only (same SSID, channel 8)
According to the phone's wi-fi signal strength display I shouldn't have needed the second AP, but with it I definitely have a much stronger signal all over my house. BandWidth shows a speed bump from ~5M to around ~10M.
So maybe the Titan is very sensitive to signal strength? Or doesn't like 802.11n. Or maybe it just doesn't like the Belkin router I have.
I'll be trying this at work tomorrow to get even more data points. I use this thing on GoPhone and so non-reliable wi-fi --> the Titan is going back.
This seems to be a common bug. Mine is doing the same. It can be helped by disabling the data connection in mobile settings while you want to use the WiFi. Not a solution, more of a workaround but it bodes well for a software fix I'd guess.
I think this phone's wi-fi is working but is extremely sensitive to fringe wi-fi signal and/or channel interference.
Since I added a second AP in my house and adjusted the channels to avoid conflicts with the neighbors (using a wi-fi analyzer on a tablet), I have not seen this at home.
At work I've only seen this happen once, and it was near a doorway (where the wi-fi signal presumably is at its weakest in the building).
Mine seems to have developed this problem after installing the latest update from HTC (still on 7720). This happens even with the 3G turned off..
Hopefully it will be fixed in the next update because it is quite annoying!
hard reset makes a difference
so i spent a bit of time with htc support. they recommended hard resetting as others had warned me. in the end i got so fed up with it i tried it and actually the phone is much better on wifi right now. i totally cleared out zune too and reset everything i could think of. one thing i had on before was wireless sync. decided not to bother this time. no idea if it's the culprit but are you guys having problems using wireless sync by any chance?
si
I have also been experiencing the same issue with the AT&T titan. My old Focus works great. I know that HTC had some problems with the using spoofed MAC addresses and maybe the fix has something to do with it. HTC is a great company, but it seems to take them a few versions to get their code clean.
I manually pushed 7440 to my phone and I am not sure if it is related, but I have not experienced the WIFI issue since. The patch does not mention anything about WIFI and since it is likely a driver issue, probably a wild goose chase, but...
This thread has the instruction in case you want to try:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415
I take it back. Just got home and the problem still exists.
Sent from my {TITAN} using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
The problem persisted for me too after 7740. Still behaving at the moment after the hard reset. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Guys the definite solution to all connectivity issues, marketplace and sharing issues can be rectified by hard reset. I know in absence of back up apps it might not be the best option for some. But guys that has solved my ever I going issue with marketplace downloads. Also I realised real performance update that came along with 7740 update only after the hard reset. It took me an hour to re add all my 8 accounts, sync back my photos and music and re add my 131 apps but in the end I am problem free and super smooth since last 29 hours. Oh and if you do a hard reset then don't add windows live ID during phone set up. Do it without id and when it loaded, restart phone. After one restart add live account manually. I think that saves some sort of log file corruption.
Sent from my WP 7.5 HTC TITAN using XDA Premium App for Windows Phone.
Hard reset does not solve the w-fi issue being discussed on this thread.
The Titan is very sensitive to signal strength and sometimes refuses to reconnect wi-fi because if that.
My WiFi password key index was set to 2. But I cannot figure out how to make this happen on my Titan (maybe all WP7 device is the same). Yes I can change the key index to 1 on AP but that means I have to reset all WiFi enabled devices.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
I've had my AT&T Titan for a couple of days and am definitely having this issue. My wi-fi connection does not hold, and when I look at my phone it is often searching to connect back to the wi-fi network. It always connects, but it doesn't seem to hold the connection. Which means it must also be draining battery? I switched from the Focus, and I never had this issue with the Focus on the same wi-fi networks. I am running OS version 7.10.7720.68. I'm not seeing any solutions here, am I missing one?

What I think is that I have spent countless hours downloading, installing and setting up all the apps I had on my Focus, and I'm still not done, and I really don't want to do that all again less than a week later.
Tried the hard reset. No luck.

Tried a wireless G router. No better. I've noticed that when I get it working its just a matter of time before WiFi data stops.
Sent from my PI39100 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Extremely intermittent and hard to pin point problem I'm having with my I9100 and wifi...
I am using the Chameleon ROM 3.0.2 with Dorimanx 8.16, but this also occurred with Chameleon 3.0.1 and Jeboo 2.1.
This has only happened in the last few weeks, and there have been no changes to the phone or my home network to bring this on, and everything worked absolutely fine before. I decided to spend some time this afternoon trying to sort this out, and I've gotten no where.
On a fresh boot I can connect to wifi fine, and provided the phone stays awake, I can use the internet fine. But when I put my phone down and leave it to go into sleep, often when I wake the device back up, the wifi will be connected, but the signal icons will have turned grey, and nothing will work. Sometimes when this happens the phone will automatically drop and reconnect to the wifi, and others it will remain stuck and I have to reboot the phone. But sometimes this doesn't occur at all, and the phone wakes up and wifi works fine.
I have definitely checked the Advanced Wifi settings and the sleep policy is set to Never.
When this happens, the data connection doesn't take over, it's as if the wifi remains connected but somehow decides to refuse all connections. SMS and phone calls still work fine.
I have done several factory resets, and I am currently running the phone with nothing but the default apps in Chameleon 3.0.2.
I just signed into my Google account, opened Google Play to update things like Hangouts, Maps, Search etc, and I hit Update all, then locked my phone and put it down. When I picked it up again not 3 minutes later, all the updates had failed as the wifi had crashed(?).
I have tried another router, and it still happens. All other devices connected to either router have been fine the entire time (my laptop, desktop PC, Samsung Smart TV, Nook color with CM7 and an Amazon Kindle).
I have seen a couple of other threads about this, but none of them had any answers in, they were just left with people asking about it and not getting anything concrete. Is this going to be some kind of hardware problem and the only fix is a new device?
I'm at my wit's end here, it's driving me up the wall, I'd really appreciate any ideas.
EDIT: Being an eejit, I only just found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2161978 I can't seem to delete this post, so I'll just leave my apologies here, please can an admin/mod delete this thread? I'll post in the other thread I linked to above.
Hi,
This morning I randomly decided to update my firmware (as per Sony's incessant reminders). I updated to 17.1.1.A.0.402, as it was what Sony's updating app was telling me the latest firmware was. I updated as instructed on my tablet, wirelessly. The update was successful and totally uneventful -- no incidents whatsoever.
However, immediately after my update, my wifi dropped, and after that, I couldn't reconnect to *any* wifi network whatsoever. I toggled on/off, and the wifi would reconnect for a matter of seconds, maximum 2-3 minutes before dropping and never reconnecting again. To reconnect to wifi, I'd have to toggle off/on again and then would have seconds to try and load a page (but would never succeed)
So, I updated the firmware again, this time using the update application for the Mac since my tablet could no longer connect to wifi.
I successfully updated to 17.1.2.A.0.314.
Still the same wifi dropping and not coming back issues.
Then I tried "repairing" my software from the Mac, which I'm lead to believe erases everything and flashes with the most recent firmware.
Still had the same wifi issues.
Then I tried an erase/factory reset directly from the tablet.
I still have the same wifi issues, but they don't kick in within seconds anymore. Now after several minutes, the wifi will drop and not come back.
Any suggestions for a fix? I'm as of yet unrooted, and would like to remain that way if possible...
Thanks!
I would suggest a factory reset after flashing the update. Might solve your problem.
Before that you could try to delete your Wi-Fi and set it up again...

Thanks for your help
"Repairing" from this Mac app is flashing the update, correct? It erased and then flashed anyway. Had to set up the tablet like it was new. Is that not a factory reset?
In any case, I did a factory reset immediately afterwards, from the settings screen of the tablet, as mentioned above.
By "delete your wifi" do you mean "forget" the networks I'm trying to connect to? If so, I've done that many times, and have had to re set up my wifi networks anyway upon each factory reset/flash/erase.
So I think I tried what you suggested, and no dice, unless I've misunderstood?
Perhaps worth noting: I'm using the accompanying Sony Bluetooth keyboard.
Wifi seems to stick around a bit longer when Bluetooth is toggled off (no keyboard), though I could use the Sony keyboard before the update, no problem at all.
Yes that was what I ment.
Sorry it didn't help solving your problem.
Seems like you should call Sony.
It's the Bluetooth. Wifi and Bluetooth are on the same chip and won't work at the same time. It's a hardware fault with pretty much every Android system I've used. Turn off the Bluetooth and your wifi will be fine.
Thanks for your reply – though it was possible to use the bluetooth keyboard at the same time as wifi before the update.
Bluetooth keyboards would be pretty pointless if you couldn't use wifi at the same time as you use the keyboard, wouldn't they?
Between the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet, a Samsung Galaxy Tab S, and an iPad, I've used all with bluetooth keyboards + wifi without issues (until this firmware update on the Z2).
Use 5GHz Wifi, then the problem will be solved.
Sounds like you have been lucky so far and due to the small amount of data a bluetooth keyboard transmits. Bluetooth headphones are always transmitting as is wifi when watching hd youtube videos. They will always interfere with each other, but only every minute or so. Google the problem and you'll see its pretty universal.

Hi, here's my experience with my Z2 tablet, unrooted. I too have had wifi problems: after using the tablet fine for a while, with a strong signal, the tablet drops out, then wifi access stalls whilst "Obtaining IP address". I sometimes use a Bluetooth Microsoft keyboard, but have had the wifi drop out when I have Bluetooth off.
The only reliable (so far) solution I have found is to move to a static IP address. Not ideal, and perhaps not much help when travelling, but an OK workaround for a home or other wifi network where you have admin access to the router.
Hope that helps. Apologies if my newbie post is naive.
