My brother has an un-rooted device, and he is stuck in a boot loop. He was sending a text message to one of his friends, and right away his phone cut off, and it boots into the sprint boot screen and then cuts off and then keeps doing it. Any ideas what happened, and how I can fix this?

Turn it on and at the HTC screen or a little before it hold vol- to force safemode. It might get the phone going, otherwise you might need to boot to bootloader and factory reset
Are there any other options?

If the phone is stock then your only options are safemode, factory reset, or ruu. Even of you don't want a custom Rom or superuser privileges on the phone, its always good to atleast have custom recovery and a backup for situations like these

Backstory: In October, I ordered my LG Optimus T from T-Mobile refurbished. Shortly afterward, I rooted it, flashed CWM and then installed void. #forever. After Google announced ICS, I did some research but couldn't find any CM9/ICS ROMs for P50*. I kept searching and eventually found Lupohirp's, which I flashed and used for a while. This eventually morphed into Hephappy's CM9, which I have used until about 3 days ago. His ROM reached its final version recently. I tried flashing it, but ran into a bit of a problem.
My problem: From inside the CWM app, I initiated a backup, like I always do before flashing. The phone shut down and started booting but never made it past the LG logo. After about 10 minutes, I got impatient and pulled the battery. I was planning on trying the backup again. However, I have not been able to get it to boot past the LG logo. If I have it plugged in, it will just sit at the LG logo forever (I tried leaving it this way for over 36 hours, but nothing happened). If I don't plug it in, it will turn on to the LG logo but turn off a few seconds later. I can then start it again but it stays on for shorter. I can do it again for even shorter, and so forth until it won't turn on at all. I have tried booting, both plugged in and unplugged, with every imaginable combination of buttons, cards, and having the battery in or out that I can think of and it still won't work. I can get it to boot into emergency mode (under the same conditions as regular boots), but that's for the most part useless to me. I have a feeling I could restore it to stock using KDZ but it seems like it would be a lot of work rerooting, then reflashing, then trying to recreate all of my data. My hope is that someone out there in XDAland has an idea on how to fix this.
Thanks in advance!

explains that not quite understand. want to know how to enter into recovery?

I know how to put my phone into recovery but it won't get past the LG logo, no matter what I try. I've tried Vol Up or Down + any of the 4 buttons + Power and still nothing.
Thanks anyway
if the problem is on the phone boot you have to do the following en enters recovery after format boot and mount and format system. CM9 install the rom again. when you finish the installation of the rom does reboot and enjoy.

I don't mean to sound stupid (but I probably will anyway), but how would I format it? Also, will I lose everything?
Thanks

lol
lol the point is he cant enter recovery
i have a lg p509 but i have none of those problems...
try using kdz and reflashing original 2.2 then reflashing cwm on
remember to backup ur sd card
if you get to recovery
go to mounts then you will see format system 3rd to last
im using cwm touch recovery
do as I am saying that you will not miss anything. makes only format boot and system format. You can be assured that not lose anything you have on your phone.

I can't get into recovery to do that, pt
KDZ if you use you will erase all data you have on your phone

I guess that's all I can do then. Thanks for all your help, both of you
loads while in power key and volume down key home keeps the keys pressed until the menu.
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
What was that supposed to do?
recovery
once if you get into recovery then you can mount usb to a computer copy ur sd card contents make a backup etc
then you can format anything without any risk'
one warning. once you format boot do not reboot until you flash another boot img or ur phone might be bricked forever
if we do not have root on your phone uses the superoneclick. you enter emergency mode that recognizes the pc.

But how do I get into recovery mode?
Power / vol. down and home. is always the pressure until you see the recovery menu.
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
60 seconds with all 3 pressed, still just the LG logo
do so press power and vol down for 10 seconds

I know how to put the boot loader into fastboot mode, power on while holding up. Problem is, I can't get it to load. It started after installing the SlickV6 Rom. Anyway, when I attempted to load the bootloader, the phone shows a black screen inof the fastboot usb text. Worst of all, rebooting the phone will only boot back to this black screen. I have to LGPNST back to stock just to get the phone to load.
Edit: Ok, LGPNST Again, rooted, unloacked, then tried to use Quick Boot to boot directly to recovery, and I get the exact same issue. It's almost as if the recovery is corrupted and it's not allowing me to load the booloader. Problem is, if I can't get into fastboot usb mode, or recovery, I can't flash a new recovery. This is awesome.

Try redownloading Freegee and rerunning it. After the phone boots up download GooManager, hit menu, and then choose install openrecovery script. Once it downloads and installs, power down the device. Hold volume up + power until you see the LG logo and it goes black with text. Press volume down twice and then power. It should boot into TWRP recovery. Once you make sure it's working you can flash Sk8's CWM recovery, I you want too.
It's the black screen with text that won't load. If I don't unlock the bootloader the phone ignores the button commands. Once I unlock the bootloader, the phone will boot fine, until I attempt to load the bootloader. It just loads a black screen and sits there forever. The phone will never boot past this, even while forcing a reboot by holding power. I'll give your method a shot. Worst that can happen is another LGPNST.
EDIT: Nevermind the above. It's the act of unlocking the boot loader that's actually causing the phone to not boot. After typing the above response, I unlocked via freegee and rebooted, it shows the LG Logo, then just a black screen and it's stuck. Running LGPNST again. I have no idea what could have happened to the booatloader that would cause it to be unable to unlock without bricking my phone.
EDIT 2: Just tried the freegee.bat from the PC. Says the phone has been liberated, but does the exact same thing. I am stumped. I hope I don't have to wait for ATT to release an update so I can run something other than stock.

Looking through the freegee thread, this seems to be a common problem with the newest freegee. Gonna try an older version and see if that's the issue. If not, guess I'm stuck with simple root until I have time to get on irc and see if anyone knows how to fix the corrupted partition.
What firmware u flashing back to with lgnpst? 10o or 11c

You mean LGPNST with Korean firmware? Never saw Korean root.

I'm at work now but send me a pm or get on irc this evening and we can fix this for ya

Ok, will do. Thanks in advance.
BTW, iamtha1, I tried the Korean Root. It took, but I had the same issue. The only upside to this is that I'm still able to use the phone. It's the stock firmware, but it's not so bad once you freeze the excessive AT&T bloat.
I am having the same problem, my battery has been acting weird so i drained it completely, now it wont even boot past the black screen with blue text saying recovery. The power button wont do anything so i just have to hard reboot (power +volume up). It will just boot back into that same screen... I have the sprint version with zvb and not rooted or unlocked. please help

Hi,
I have a Galaxy Nexus with the volume buttons spoilt (not functioning). It is rooted and running on AOKP's 4.4 rom. I accidentally installed the wrong kernel and while panicking, I wiped the data and davlik cache. Now, I am stuck in boot loop. Also, when I plug it into the computer, the phone is UNAUTHORIZED according to adb server.
Is there any way to authorize my phone without booting into the OS itself?
or
Is there a way to boot into bootloader/recovery without authorizing the phone and without using the physical buttons of the phone?

Unfortunately given the circumstances you've presented, you'd appear to be stuck like that unless you can get those volume buttons working. Because you can't get to the boot loader and recovery or get the phone to boot and even worse, adb not functioning, you're stuck that way. Unless someone knows something i don't, it's just the way it is.

Has anyone solved it out? Got really similiar problem. Stuck in bootloop + hardpressed vol up. Vol Down should work properly tough, but have to admit that problems occured using VOL Down or even power beacause of hardpressed VOL UP. My device (Htc ONE S - s4) is fully rooted, unclocked, etc.)
Is it possible that Bootloader got broke somehow?
Stuck in samsung boot loop

I enclose my simple solution

Basically once you get to the bootloader everything should be easy
Hello! My brother gave me this phone to repair it kind of. It is fully stock, and when I try to turn it on it either restarts on white screen, or restarts after when the home screen shows up. I went to rooting guides for the phone, and I only unlocked the bootloader. Problem now is that because of the restarts I can't put superuser.zip and cwm img on sdcard since I can't turn on the phone and connect with sdcard. Oh and I did factory reset twice it didn't fix it. Is there any way to fix the phone?
Well now I succeded installing new rom and recovery from SDcard because I put SDcard in another phone. Thing is even now the device turns on gets to customization screen and then it restarts and it has infinite loop. What to do?
Make sure battery is fully charged/ good
Bootloops can sometimes be fixed by flashing boot.IMG through fastboot...but I don't think that's your issue

So I have been having lots of problem with my phone. I just flashed the RUU and was able to revive the phone after 2 months of trying. The phone boot up and I got everything setup like you would after a factory reset. Then suddenly it crashed and turned off. I booted into bootloader and tried to go into recovery. Since then the phone is stuck between going into recovery and the htc logo. I can't turn the phone off and I can't get into bootloader. I know after 2 months trying different things that there is a major hardware problem. I'm passed the warranty and out of $600 for this phone. So I'm just messing with it now. Any ideas on what I can do to get into bootloader? Even though I won't be able to do **** cuz it will crash again.

If it is a hardware issue then this is a lost cause. I guess you have tried the various holding of the pwr button + down vol buttons; using a bright light on the sensor; etc. If you can get it in recovery, connect to your PC and try the adb reboot bootloader command. ADB works in recovery.
