You are talking about samsung fw? If yes there is no 4.2 yet, just 4.1.2 and that one you can get on sammobile.com.
If you are talking about stock google 4.2, Google

Noob question probably with a simple answer but i am a little confused so i'll ask.
I recently rooted my S3 and flashed the latest omega rom and siyah kernel, all is good for now.
I am on Android version 4.0.4, my question is when Jelly Bean is released and i want to update to it how do i go about it? Do i need to flash stock rom/firmware and upgrade via kies/OTA?
If i flash a Jelly Bean rom just now will my android version change to 4.1 or will i just have the jelly bean rom running on ICS
If someone could please explain it would be much appreciated, thanks.
U need 2 flash stock/official rom to get OTA updates from Samsung.
And if u flash Jelly beans then it wont be running upon ICS.
Ur version will change to 4.1 if u flash JB
Custom rom will also be JB based .

When jb is released you just download the firmware from sammobile.com and flash with odin. No need to go back to stock.

As the title says pretty much. Can I flash the latest jelly beam firmware leaks from Sam mobile on my galaxy s3. I currently have flashed the 4.0.4 latest firmware using odin and want to know if it's just the same process for the latest jelly bean leaks or have I got to root and go down that path. And if I have why? I'm a bit confused I've tried to read different threads but can't find the exact answer. Any help would be appreciated thank you

Actually you can flash the jelly bean OTA unrooted. It requires you to have LH1 modem on LG8 ROM. If you have that then you can just flash the OTA package in Android recovery.

I'm in Ireland and am rooted using CF method on 4.0.4 with litning rom installed.
Can someone link the firmware update package for me for the 4.2 update please?
I want to retain my root obviously, but I'm told I will lose it after I update...is this the case?
Sorry mate but 4.1.1 is barely released for SGS3, so 4.2 is coming earliest sometime next year. So nobody can't provide you link for that

Stock Firmwares are based on ANdroid 4.1 if you want 4.1.2 use any AOSP based ROM
if i update to jellybean, will flash player be no longer available?
am guessing stock jellybean will not allow the use of flash player, but what is the possibility of flash player working with a custom rom like cyongen jellybean allow flashplayer.
also is there currently any hacked flash player apps fully working as normal with jellybean.
thanks
On stock browser on 4.1.2 flash player work, but you must find the correct JB apk

If tour in a stock lsj jelly bean leak ROM just install the flash apk
The normal apk works fine on any jelly bean rom afaik, it just won't appear in the play store anymore.

There's also:
www.samfirmware.com
I think there you'll gonna find what you want.
Or you can do a downgrade for some stock, and update using Kies.
