HBoot Versions? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

So my question is what's the difference between HBoot 1.12, 1.15, and 1.19. I see a bunch of people downgrading to 1.12 from 1.19.
I currently have 1.12 S-On and am looking to change it to S-Off cause it's a lot easier to change ROMs around, I was wondering if I should bother upgrading as well or...?
Thanks!

If you have 1.12 do not update your hboot. You can and should run lazy panda to obtain s-off.

According to their site, Lazy Panda is no longer supported. Now you have to RUU to upgrade your Hboot and use Dirty Racun to gain S-off. With Hboot 1.12 you can flash radio updates through recovery, whereas the newer Hboots you can't, at least without gaining S-off first. Also, with Hboot 1.12 you don't have to flash the kernel separately from the ROM. Those are the main differences as I understand it.

Engine h-boot and revolutionary h-boot

I currently have the eng h-boot I ran revolutionary many months ago and then flash the eng h-boot. My question is this can I flash back to the revolutionary h-boot without running revolutionary and will I lose s-off? I tried searching but I'm on the xda app and could not find what I was looking for. Thank you in advance for any help

I don't know about getting back to the revolutionary hboot, but you can get back to the hboot that's almost the exact same as revolutionary, hboot1.4, by flashing a pg86img.zip through your bootloader. If you haven't had any issues with the ENG bootloader, there's no reason to need to change it though. It's up to you.
here's a link to both the hboot1.4 and eng hboot (just choose the one you want to download, both of them are in first post) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192306

Will hboot 1.4 work for the Evo V 4G?

Will the hboot 1.4 from this post (note, it's attached to the OP, I'm talking about the hboot, nothing else from that thread) work on the HTC Evo V 4G? S-OFF with Jbear (the latest ICS version).
Depends on the kernel.

What hboot are you in now? I see the jbear, but 1.57? I would think it should work because there are people with sprint evos that flashed the vm bootloader. Only one.way to find out.

1.57 at the time of writing in the OP.
And I found my answer- I'm now S-OFF, running the ENG HBOOT 1.04, and my Evo V 4G thinks it's an Evo 3D! Pretty sweet, huh? For those people in the future-

Updated radios with s-on

Hey guys where can I find the updated radios with s-on?
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
If you're S-On you cannot flash new radios at the moment without taking the OTA or flashing the RUU.

ok thanks and is there a way to get S-Off with the latest OTA?
The only way to get s-off is to get a phone with hboot 1.12 and applying the lazy panda exploit

Yep just head on over to development and look through the guide. If you have any trouble with any of the terms or would just like to read up before jumping into the a-off guide, I wrote a pretty extensive post explaining just about everything I could think of.

If your s-on with hboot 1.12 you CAN flash New radios through the recovery. But only the radio. To do the rest you need to be s-off

[Q] Way to get Root/S-OFF on HBOOT 1.19?

I've previously rooted my EVO 4G and just recently, my Transformer TF101.
I'm finally bored enough with my EVO LTE. I booted to the Recovery/info screen and snagged a screenshot (attached).
I'd rather NOT wipe everything off my phone by using HTC's unlock.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
I thought 1.15 was latest.....o.o
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
1.19 is the latest hboot and as far as I know the only way to root is to unlock hboot. There is a universal root tool but it won't let you flash roms and if I'm not mistaken it still unlocks hboot on newer htc phones
I have the new HBOOT 1.19 and Im unlocked, rooted and have TWRP recovery. Being s-on or s-off isn't a big deal. I could pretty much do what anyone with s-off could do but only thing is I have to approach it differently.

I have hboot 1.19 and my software version is 2.13.651.1 710RD. I'm unlocked, rooted and also have TWRP recovery and am s-on. When I rooted my phone it also gave me SuperSU. I'm super lost now because I can't flash any ROMs to my phone. I've tried the charmeleon ROM and also the tranquility ROM but when TWRP is at the end of the Installing process it says that it failed and that there is no md5 or something like that.
what am I doing wrong?
You have to flash the kernel separately unless you're S-off (or Hboot 1.12, then it doesn't matter).

I believe you have to do it through fastboot. I'm not certain as I'm on Hboot 1.12 and don't have to worry about it. Sorry I'm not of more help

Does anyone know of any kernels that would work for the Evo LTE with what I described up top?
Get the ROM you wanna flash, then pull the boot.IMG out of it's zip , then either fastboot flash that or use flash image GUI to flash while booted, the go to recovery and flash new ROM.
Boot.IMG contains the kernel.

MeanROM and JellyBomb Domination as well as others have kernel installers written into the script for people that are S-ON so no need to flash the kernel separatly. Click the names in my SIG to go to those threads
Also make sure you are using the latest version of twrp 2.3.1.0

Any other way of getting S-OFF other than Racoon?

I am on Jelly bean , Running Meanbean Rom, But I am S-ON and the Racoon method does not support my WIN8 laptop, Then LiveCD Ubuntu is a bit complicated for me. So is there another way of achieving S-off ?
Currently, no.
Edit: What Hboot are you currently on?

Downgrade method then use no-longer-supported LazyPanda to obtain S-OFF hboot 1.12. You'll also retain S-OFF status indefinitely (confirmed as of Jelly Bean hboot 2.09). I don't know if Racoon is the same way.
