Hey there guys!
i am proud owner of a sony tablet s since about a week.i already rootet it an deletet a lot of of trash which is on stock rom.
This made this already awesone tablet even more awesome and feelable faster!
I am known to flashing etc.my xperia x10 and galaxy s2 are far away from beeing original!
now i read that the motorola xoom is overclockable to 1.5ghz und over 400mhz gpu!this is a lot!as far as i know, the xoom has the same hardware as our beloved tablet s.i use it for gaming a lot,so it would be very interesting to overclock!
Is there any costum cernel right now?oh yeah,i am on ics!release1a.
Ps.sorry for my ****ti english!i promise to better!
We havent got that far yet the booyloader is still locked

Not yet.
Damn it!
That would be so awesome!I already see what the gpu overclocking on my s2 made of my phone!its the beast now in gaming!!!
We need an Ocable kernel first.
Sent from my Sony Tablet S using xda app-developers app
So basically your saying that you need a supported kernel for such operation?
My old android phone can be overclocked without a new kernel on stock.
Unless Sony has blocked overclocking with their "OTA-Not_Telling_You_What_We_Are_Doing_To_Your_Device" thing like what they did to the chmod binary, killed it from execution on system run times and also installing applications to your system over the network like the e-reader application.
We are not save.
The thing we have to concertrate on the most is how to disconnect Sony from our devices so we can do what ever we want and not let Sony mess around with System files has they will kill any support, anyday, anytime, anywhere (Has long you are connected to data).

Yeah, the bootloader is just to do with partitions, not overclocking since that is modifications to the system partition.

Overclocking is possible without unlocking bootloader too.
My x10 is oc to 1.28 ghz and is on locked bootloader too.isnt it possible to do same on tablet s.why do we have to unlock the bootloader?

U can its just most people flash kernels. Where the function is included
Sent from my LT28i using xda app-developers app
Ok, lets wrap this up.
Sony can block Overclocking with the bootloader maybe the bootloader is connected to the hardware.
Any carrier or manufacturers can block anything with the bootloader.
That means forcing hardware like processor and CPU to the limits is unavailable unless you get that key to unlock the bootloader.
Knowing Google, they wouldn't block Overclocking obviously.
Alot of manufacturers don't block overclocking unlike Sony I assume.
Well, if you are rooted you can test the overclocking to see if I am right or wrong.
I don't really know why Sony is trying so hard on stopping root exploits.
The other Sony Xperia devices can have a unlocked bootloader and be rooted easily.
But has for the Sony Tablets, most/some of us are stuck on getting rooted since we ended up updated to the latest version of Sony hell while a few days later Condi releases a exploited version which is Condi heaven.
Fom the looks of it, unless your rooted or/and your bootloader is unlocked, your stuck just like me.

Its not going to happen unless the bootloder gets cracked...
Works on a lot of android phones but guess what, they ALL have cracked bootloaders.
a fraud named netzke is trying to make a simple .apk but i think it will never work cuz of the approach he is using.
Your better of buying a ps3jig of any kind... Ive heard Teensy models are starting to show up again...
i heard that a work is being done on the x10 mini.... isn't the x10 basicly the same phone?
No, it's not possible without a custom kernal which we can't do until the bootloader is cracked.
Check out the desire android development section. It has ask the information in there that you need.

there wont be any custom ROMs for the phone until someone is able to get past it without bricking theirs.. if you are not the kind to flash custom ROMs onto your phones, this probably wont affect you much.

The bootloader is what loads up the operating sytem in very simple terms. By locking or signing it, it means that we need to present motorola's certificate every time we want to load a custom ROM/kernel.
Though what he says is true, you can still root the phone, install pseudo-custom ROMs (they are all right here in the forums) and do tons of other things.
This is still a great great phone though and probably the best in the market in my opinion.

i came across a very interesting article on Sony Ericsson Product Blog... SE seems to be working on ICS and outlines what all goes on to get stuff to work...
here is the link: http://developer.sonyericsson.com/w...from-source-code-release-to-software-upgrade/
i have posted it here (in development section) as i think it will be useful for users to make them aware on what all goes on in development for new OS version release...
also do keep in mind that even the device manufacturer (SE) has to do so much work; so u can only imagine the amount of work/efforts the devs (here at XDA and other android forums/portals), who are working on sources, are pouring into making this work for the community...
please do read it... its very interesting...

DooMLoRD
First we take the clean blazing fast Android OS. Then add a whole bunch of useless crap to bog it down because we feel it works too well on your handset as is.
So does this mean as soon as the source code is released from sony we could easily flash this to rooted R800x plays even with a locked bootloader

That's partly incorrect... U can flash custom roms on locked bootloader (flashing via recovery)... How do u think the users of Xperia 2009-2010 devices have survived locked bootloaders
But u can't use FLASHTOOL to flash them as FTF/.SIN...

I Remember with the droid X and 2 the locked bootloaders didn't stop development on it i believe koush made a boot strap program to get flashing to work :/, also that was a very interesting read.
It's not an obstacle either for the Xperia bootloaders, given that the same people here brought custom ROMs to the bootloader-locked older Xperia models. But again, they decided not to try to bypass the locked bootloader, seeing as there is an officially sponsored way to unlock it.
Damn :-( I just can't seem to get the fastboot commands working on windows XP damn it's age!

For us to do that, we would need to work out a solution to make /boot/ writeable on a locked BL though.

With locked bootloader using root you should be able to use a shell script to boot into a custom recovery. But as we have no other ways to flash kernels, roms are mosty limited to stock.
Correct me if I am wrong.

the whole meaning of this blogpost is "why we will deliver ICS in 4months from now" or "why it will take ages to release ICS on the Xperia 2011 line" they could also release ICS clean without any Sony Stuff and provide a "skinned" Version later,i would prefer ICS as it is on the Galaxy Nexus personally
don`t really know what they are trying with this post other than an early excuse why it will be long time till we see ICS on the xperia 2011 line..

So i have a LWW (WT19i), I recently rooted it and flashed it.
I installed this rom about two weeks ago with CWM
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1490166
i currently have my phone rooted and using MIUI, roottoolbox, titaniumbackup and stuff....
The weird thing is that, in the description of the ROM it says that unlocked bootloader is required,
but it was working perfectly with my locked bootloader, until yesterday.
The phone started crashing and freezing out of nowhere, apparently it had something to do with overclocking it
because I disabeled the overclocking and it worked a bit faster but just... not like it was working a week ago
it freezes sometimes, google chrome takes like two eternitys to load.
maybe it is because of the bootloader thingy??? i don't know...
and why did it work in the first place?!?!
does it mean CM works also?
so i guess the only thing i have to do is get a full wipe and install the ROM again? or maybe some other ROM
i really want to install CM9 it seems really interesting, but.... freaking bootloader....
So i'm kind of lost... i'm really lost.... apparently i can't use CM9.1 or MIUI because i dont have unlocked bootloader, but they work anyhow?
and i can't unlock it, i really have no idea how to do it. i've read like 158932 different tutorials and they are all different
some tell me i can't do it, it won't ever work and i should drown in my tears for all eternity, and others tell me i have to download freaking eclipse
and start programing in java...
i just get lost with that many incoherence....
I really want to install a nice and comfortable rom so i can rest and use the phone
im just tired of flashing and rooting and reflashing.
....CM9... 10?... looks nice.....
so, are there any sugestions ???? what should i do?
should i just reinstall MIUI what if it gets slow again ?
also... can someone please for the love of Godzilla explain me how can i unlock my bootloader ?? if it is possible
you guys probably get this a lot but sorry for my poor english...
thanks a lot
bye

You know what guys, I really miss honeycomb. Especially the way you add widgets and also the customization that Sony did with the app drawer- they shouldn't have gotten rid of it in my opinion.
I still have my old Tablet S (Although with a cracked screen sadly)
Is it possible (I have root) to downgrade to 3.2?
Why did Google get rid of the awesome screen which added widgets.
Or perhaps someone could send the launcher?
Ive done extensive research and tried many methods and asked people alot smarter than me it cant be done until the bootloader is u locked. Once it is than we can the reason is because the recovery has been updated in the current version of android and once it is you cant go back because it is part of the Rom and is hidden. Yes ive tried downgrading and before I got bootlooped it said cannot because of recovery version. I WASTED about 2 months on this idea as well as a few other people and also Condi the best dev we have over here for the tablet s has tried and theres still no way until the bootloader. Ive also looked at testpoint unlock but if you've ever looked at the motherboard theres gazillions of testpoints so who knows which is the right one plus taking it apart isnt exactly a walk in the park like it is with phones. Youll just have to wait like me. Btw head over and sign the bootloader unlock petition.
