[Q] Kernel using 89% of battery? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have been running my own custom rom for weeks. Battery has not been an issue in the past. Today, bettery was draining a lot and I looked at gsam and it showed kernel using 89%. The only thing I have changed recently is I updated busybox - smart install in order to get a script working. I have two init.d scripts which may have something to do with it. Can anybody shed some light? I have attached the scripts, as well as Included processes for kernel.
Device Info:
Verizon SGS3
Rom: Mean Lean JellyBean Machine
Firmware base: I535VRBLK3 (4.1.1)
Kernel: Stock VRBLK3 (although rooted/unsecured)
Only mods to the rom are that I updated busybox to get script2 working.
Thanks!

Anyone flash this yet?
Nope. Anything that is "this works on everything and is the bestest" I am cautious of.
Why hasn't this post been deleted?
This just adds a bunch of crap to your build.prop and adds unnecessary init scripts. Unzip it and see for yourself. This kind of stuff doesn't belong in the original development section.
Not to mention raises swappiness and for some reason re-mounts swap?
Only good thing out of this package is Busybox and zipalign, but even that's stretching it
Don't flash this.
I have to say it really works! Flashed it on my phone and now my trash can is empty and my toilet is unstuffed, plus the filter in my washing machine is cleaned!

Processor Clock, Root and New Firmware.

I want to know one thing, with the root and unlocked bootloader i can up the processor frequency again in the newest's firmwares with Kernel Adiutor for example? As we know Sony lowered down the processor clock in the newest firmwares, but this have slowed down the phone.
Sorry for the bad english
something you can do..Xd

rise Gpu from 400 (2.99,.147 firms) to 550mhz, +25%,but will fall some times for temp regulation, but you can improve how much with temp drivers,at same time improve the overall temp.
You can activate ZRAM and Init.d.
You can touch governors and schedules, and other tweaks of kernel,fs,etc.
You can improve, easy the battery consumption without lose performance. In the test of the photo, cpu temp was 57Celsius from cold.

This is the last firmware? How do you do that?
.112 or. 128 (.100 not test but I think would be close to 37.000) 2.99 and. 147 is waste the time.I have better temp, battery life and a 30% more performance.
I prefer 112,more bloatware,but more estable

Ahh nice, what firmware do you recommend for the E2363 model?
Equivalent to. 112 in your model. The bloatware you can remove with root. But is the same bloatware that any other free sim firm.

What settings do you use in that test( like cpu governor, temp drivers, cpu and gpu clock)?

neither I nor the forum we do for the partial and total damage of equipment
Information:
files provided you has been tested for more than 14 days some moderate use in achieving the not so normal temperature but moderate
Requirements:
Unlocked Bootloader
Root (SuperSU)
Root Explorer
Compilation: 26.1.A.3.111
Instructions:
- move the files to the path: /system/etc
- 0644 root permissions apply to files
- reset terminal
- download application Kernel Toolkit
- apply the following values
- and ready to enjoy
- They should use it without 3G data for 24hrs and 24hrs moderately during use as enough recommendation xperia overheating M4 be reduced
Faq:
I can try some other compilation: yes
you need to open bootloader to test the mod: only been tested with open bootloader and probably to do with the root closed bootloader is lost so you have to test
Files in folder Profiles i should replace too?
Yes
Ok, thanks
Thanks
I think Change In temp a little
Here is a mod, just the post script for system / etc.
It applies all changes for our device, so you won't need an app to change cpu frequencies on boot.
The settings are a little bit different, this version works without a wakelock, better battery life and no random reboots (used it one day)
http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5762cb99e306f/update1.zip
Instructions : install version from first thread (you need the profiles files) but the attached script.
If the device overheats it goes down to 400 MHz, and after cooling to minimum of 960, my settings say minimum 533 so overheat protection wins... But only the minimum value of big core, so this solution is acceptable.

Does your V30 incl. the Root Checker Tool daemon (rctd) in LG boom image?

LG has put a process called rctd (Root Chechker Tool) in their phones for some time now (incl. V20 model):
https://www.xda-developers.com/lg-root-checker-tool-slow-performance/
You can check by running the following in the terminal:
Code:
ps | grep rctd
If you get something more than empty, could you please let us know your model (i.e. country/carrier/about this phone model info).
Thanks!

H930 just rooted ...
SOLUTION here in first OP post ... :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/development/h930-h930g-twrp-alpha-testing-t3711279
" you can disable LG's root checker daemon/service by flashing this cool zip https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/lg-rctd-disabler/ "
****, my k550 has it, too. (Tmobile LG stylo 2 plus)
Guess I finally sound the reason it runs like ass when rooted
My Stylo 3 plus had it. After I disabled it I noticed a bit better performance. My ram management was probAbky the biggest change
mine says:
10336 uo_a322 0:00 grep rctd
That's all
H930 rooted with the rctd disabler zip flashed
Code:
$ ps | grep rctd
28789 u0_a277 0:00 grep rctd
$ su
joan:/data/data/com.termux/files/home # ps | grep rctd
1|joan:/data/data/com.termux/files/home #

Is there a way to determine current zram?

Hi all,
Does anyone know of a way to view the current zram or compressed ram, or even check if it's turned on? I've got abd and shell access.
Non rooted.
It might not be possible I guess.
Cat /proc/meminfo and free commands haven't helped at all sadly.
Many thanks
use command free

see "Swap" line for zram info (please turn off memory-extension(内存扩展) in system settings for some xiaomi or other high-end devices)
On my N10+'s I use DevChek. Seems to show it.

Thanks guys, so yeah I did try the free command before, and that seems to output the same as that devinfo app. It says I have 2251MB despite having the "ram" boost option on or off... (I am rebooting between toggle).
It's strange, when it's off it doesn't show the "+2GB" in the app switch screen.
Performance wise there seems to be 0 difference so I'm going to guess there is either:
"Ram" boost is on all of the time at 2GB of swap?
There is 251MB of ZRAM?
There is 2251MB of ZRAM?
For info the phone has 4GB of physical RAM.
thanks
I think both zram and ramboost are in the swap

It could be, so that means the disk swap of 2gb is active all the time regardless of the ram boost option selected?
Only 251MB of zram in that case, no wonder it relaunches apps and webpages constantly.
I'm tempted to unlock bootloader, root and add a couple of GB of zram to see if it is a big difference or not.
