Hey.
I stumbled upon this browser last week: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS51Yy5icm93c2VyLmhkIl0.
Its called UC Browser. Works great with flash (best of all browsers I tested, with this you can actually use flash in full screen... ) It also looks great. Haven't done any benchmarks but it feels fast and that is what is important. Just to give you guys a heads up.
Sorry, wrong category please close this one have opened another in the Apps section.

Edit:
It works BUT it is very limited. I hope the dev keeps working on it. It is a GREAT idea.
Anyone tried it?
Going to try it out. Will give some feedback later.
"Ingenious Android App Allows Web Browsing Over SMS"

Seems to open the 1st page only but if you go into facebook or something you can't sign in cause you can't go to the next page.
Good idea. Needs work for sure.
This app definitely needs some love
I remember when I used to be able to web over SMS with my sidekick lx.
What an awesome idea. I can imagine the speeds would be very slow, though.
Great Idea
Might not be practical for daily use.
Hi guys
Sorry to post another browser thread, but i searched and all i could find were threads full of people saying how bleedingly fast Opera Mobile is for them, so i had to post this.
I've been trying it out in comparison to the stock Android Browser (i'm using a Galaxy SII on 2.3.4). To test, i was loading up the full desktop version of the Engadget site, as it has lots of graphics and seems like a good test.
Well, the stock browser finished loading (i.e the little green bar) in about 20 or so seconds (didn't time it exactly as the difference between the two browsers is so massive). On Opera Mobile it loads for, and i'm not joking here, about 2 whole minutes! The site is readable long before then in fairness, but it should not be taking this long surely. I was using 3G for both tests so i cannot see why there is such a huge difference. I tried out a few other sites, and they too were much slower, so it wasn't a one-off.
The thing is i really like the Opera browser and would love to use it, but not with these kind of load times.
Can people share their experiences, and let me know if i'm not alone in this regard, or if i'm missing something?
Cheers guys.

Opera Turbo usually introduces such 'infinite' loadings for me. Have you tried turning it off?
Yes
I had a bunch of problems with Opera as well......Sticking with Dolphin for now as stock is not playing well with CM7
No.

Thanks for the replies guys. I turned off Turbo and it made a big difference I have to say. The jury's out though as to whether our not it's actually any faster.
Something else is bugging me now though
The font in Opera Mobile is just horrible. I've changed my system font in Display Settings to Helvetica S. With it webpages look so much nicer, but Opera mobile uses it's own horrible font. Is there any way I can make it use the same font as the rest of my device?
opera mini is the fast one... though fairly buggy

All you have to do is go to the Firefox mobile site and when you SEARCH for thebl keyword FLASH the first thing that comes up is a page stating that Firefox for tablets DOES NOT support Flash, although the beta version does but just for phones. Amazing the info I found with a 30 second search and read

i looked and only found different versions to download, handy if u know where to look. in my job i do things for people who dont know where to look; and its sometimes not as straightforward as the first thing you see in the first 30 sec of looking. so i take it theres no workarounds and no magic touchpad exceptions ... thanks for the info and help tho.

Try ICS Browser+. I'm sure the Mozilla bunch will come up with a fix eventually.
Don't mind the previous poster, he gets off on putting people down. Ask away here, that's what the general and q/a sections are for.
firefox nightly already has support for flash
also some of the aurora builds back in march had it too {if i remember correctly they introduced the flash fix)
It seems, at least on my end, that all the 4.2.2 ROMs that I've flashed recently have a bit of lag when it comes to web browsing. Pages don't load and render as quickly as 4.2.1. I've tried several browsers but each with the same outcome. Custom kernels seem to help speed things along a bit but I wanted to hear what other users have noticed in that department, since upgrading to 4.2.2.
Anyone else notice any change in web browsing (positive or negative) ?
Hmmm, what browser do you use?
Personally, I've not had any browser issues specifically since 4.2.2, in general I don't think browser performance has changed much. I use the beta version of Chrome.
Web browsing still choppy on any non aosp browser. Battery life about 1/3 lower.
I primarily use Boat so it was a noticeable difference when jumping to a 4.2.2 ROM. But I've tried AOSP, Dolphin, and Chrome as well.
AOSP browser performs way worse. Not crash/hang/lag, but pages don't load most of the time. Have to press stop button and re-visit the URL for it to load properly. Sometimes, if I wait long enough (in the minutes) it changes pages.
I'm really not so concerned about inadvertently starting another which browser is "best" thread. I was just curious if anyone noticed a bit of lag in web browsing under the same conditions as 4.2.1, regardless of browser, after upgrading to 4.2.2. It may just be something on my end and, if so, no worries.
Thanks for the input guys! :good:

Just for clarification, in case your first line was directed to me: I don't use any browser aside from AOSP browser, and it sucks so much on 4.2.2 compared to running it on 4.2.1.

I wasn't directing anything against you, I appreciate all the feedback and your response was perfectly in line with my query.
I switch ROMs and use custom kernels so often, my observation may simply be a coincidence. That's why I was looking for feedback on the subject. I'm not a nitpicky user when it comes to my tablet, but I do like it to have the best performance possible and 4.2.2 seems to have some benefits overall. I've actually managed to resolve my web browsing lag by flashing some performance tweak scripts (which can be found in the main Android Hacking and Software Development threads) along with a custom kernel. Its been so long since I've been on pure stock that I may have spoiled myself by always running the great ROMs and Kernels our devs have released.
As far as the original topic, I consider it resolved on my end. Thanks again for the feedback.

check this thread AOSP on nexus 10
I have done this, and have had amazing results with the AOSP browser. no crash/lag at all.

Depending on your device Chrome works flawless (On Nexus 4 is impressive, whereas on S3 was a bit slugglish, so pretty much device dependant). You can also try to search in here for AOSP Browser which is the default browser for AOSP ROM's and behaves pretty well too ^^

Dolphin works great, even though i don't like the fact it used to reset my openened tabs after reboot (I usually stack over 20 tab to read later or similar, and that nerfed a bit my experience even it works great, definitely worth a try!). Maxthon used to be a nice browser back in my Sensation times, it's been a while since I used it but some dev's even include them on their builds, so worth a try as well.
As nearly everything in android world you should just try it, usually worth the experience because it hardly depends on device and use (for example, my "special" use and Dolphin browser).
Best regards,
