Slow camera - can it be improved?

Hi
Im really dissapointed of the HTC Hero camera - it seems to be very very slow and almost impossible to take photos of moving objects/people.
Anyone know if its possible to improve the camera speed?
I have tried many different Android 2.1 ROMS - but the camera seems to be slow in all of them - and also in the official 1.5 ROM.
Best regards,
Henrik

[Q] Vibrant Camera quality on MIUI

Hi!
Had CM7 on my vibrant for like a week, and then changed to miui, since i missed the whole eye-candy!
Thing is, i believe that the camera quality has substancially decreased in MIUI :s
Is there any way to increase it? With a custom kernel or something?
If not, i will be probably "forced" to change to another rom :\
Cheers!

Getting N2 camera quality in a different ROM

Hi all,
A couple night's ago I flashed the latest version of popdog's Oxygen ROM (2.7). This is the first version in a while that has been running stable for me with no issues with gapps. I really like the speed and battery life I'm getting with it. The only issue I have is with the quality of the camera. Previously I was using Adfad's N2 ROM and the camera quality was great on that, and judging by what others have written, N2 has the best camera quality. I left N2 mainly because I wanted to go with a more current ROM that is being updated.
I've seen a few people mention a flashable exposure fix for the camera in CM7 RC1. Unless I'm mistaken this is related to the default exposure levels and has no bearing on the overall quality of the camera shots?
Basically I'm just wanting to know if there is a a newer ROM than Adfad's N2 that has similar camera quality... Thanks
I've tried all ROMs but only N2 satisfies me as I need camera daily and N2 has amazing cam quality, in latest nightlies, you cannot get good exposure even after using the patch to fix exposures, you will need to set exposure again and again every time before clicking a photo, while in N2, default exposure is amazing, I'm trying to port the N2 camera to other ROM's
Thanks for the info umangleekha Getting the N2 camera in other ROMS would be fantastic. As much as I like the newest Oxygen ROM, I'm probably going to have to go back to N2 because of the camera. I use it regularly too.
Just out of curiosity, which kernel are you using with N2?
Dudeeee I sucessfully ported the N2 camera to RC1, check my thread in Android Development section.
Yes! Thanks for that . Just what I was looking for. Much appreciated

[Q] The fastest STABLE rom availibile for this phone?

Thinking about getting this phone as I'm on a low budget and I'm looking for atleast a midrange android phone to buy at the moment....
One thing I really need is developer support for a phone, and I was wondering if there's a ROM for this phone that can suit my needs if I purchase it...
I'm basically looking for a stable rom that's mostly bugfree and without annoyances such as FC's, reboots and so on...I'm also looking for a JB CM10 base...but I don't think I'll be able to find a stable Jelly Bean ROM at the moment so I guess any android version will do!
What I absolutley need:
-SPEED and RAM optimization for multitasking, gaming, and music
-Camera for photos
-3G, wifi and bluetooth
-Mostly bug-free
-HDMI mirroring
Things I can live without
-Excessive Customization
-Camcorder (though it would be nice to have)
-Webtop
Please help me find a ROM like this! Thanks!
Nutrino (CM7) or MROM (CM7)
Edit: Nutrino EE (CM7) is the most stable Nutrino rom, GT gives you more speed and don't worry about GT+

Thanks for all guys, i want to learn fast to help anothers :3
PD: Sorry for my bad english, i need more practice
Nice thread!!!
I went with MROM and am very well satisfied. Incredibly simple install.
Don't forget (as I did) to go to settings / mrom settings / applications and uncheck use internal sd card if you want to use your external card.
I know it's a bit dated, but for CM7, I love Dorian's RedPill ROM. It flies and has some great mods incorporated within. Good luck and happy flashing!

Yes, they have 100% camcorder with 1080p and flawless HDMI mirroring. If you want the best that's out there for the Atrix, CM7 based roms are your only choice. CM9/10 are too incomplete at the moment (no camcorder, flakey HWA and HDMI mirroring), and blur is kinda buggy and slow. I second MRom, it seems to be the best CM7 one out there.
You can get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836674

My experience is that (in cm10.1) the standard cm camera app isn't good at focusing, this can easily be overcome by installing a third party camera app. Also on stock the camera app uses very aggressive anti-noise filtering, it does indeed decrease the amount of noise but it also leaves its marks.
