Slow camera - can it be improved? - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Im really dissapointed of the HTC Hero camera - it seems to be very very slow and almost impossible to take photos of moving objects/people.
Anyone know if its possible to improve the camera speed?
I have tried many different Android 2.1 ROMS - but the camera seems to be slow in all of them - and also in the official 1.5 ROM.
Best regards,
Henrik

- I find the camera is much faster in the Modaco 3.1 ROM, and I think it will be faster in Eclair
- I don't know about the Legend's framerate. The Hero's camera driver is not open source, so it's unlikely that *we* could tweak it to record at a higher fps, however, that's not to say that HTC won't increase the framerate in the Eclair release.

In Modaco Rom, speed (at 3.1 MP the camera is also much fast than the original 5MP, and the quality is enough @ 3.1MP,
if it reacts faster, you can also take better photos... so i'd suggest use 3.1MP!
have fun waiting for a stable 2.1 version with working GPS
just has to be ---- :=)
a rom without gps working (at least the switch^^at runtime)
hast to be DD

(searched for this question the whole web, didn't find anything now i wann share

(edit): if anyone know something more or better please give me advice
and in relation to something in may - be - 'fast-enough' okay, ===> for me it's much to slow, to really take photo-shots!
(how a camera should be, @2.1 Vanillain, camera is fu*king great )

FroYo vs Gingerbread

On a phone like this one, what's the main differences between a FroYo and Gingerbread ROM?
these are the main upgrades of gingerbread:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_version_history#2.3_.28Gingerbread.29
for X10 mini the main advantages are the better performance, battery life, the improved cut&paste and the thousands times I can say to a friend "my phone is better than your!!"

Only thing is as of yet, I have not found a custom 2.3 or apps camera that makes good use of the phone's camera - 5pmx. I'm at a time where I'm going to many cool places with cool people and I need the full camera...not a crap VGA...I keep restoring the software in emergencies...
i would advise you to get a real camera - this mobil cams are crap in 99% of cases - even with 8+ MPx
but i didnt recognized a real speed difference between CM6 and miniCM7. i think the main advantages are the ones coming with 2.3.4 as stated at wiki compared to 2.2.1.

[Q] CosmIcEXperia v3.2 camera issue

Hi, im using CosmicExperia rom for my LG Optimus ME. I dont know why, but the camera is now much slower (i mean the framerate). In my stock froyo it had much better quality. The problem is when i capture indoors videos it lags because of lack of light, but my old stock camera in froyo didnt have theese problems. Is this fixable?
Thanks.
Imho this can have thre reasons:
1. Somehow, your device got a lot slower with CosmicExperia rom.
(run a benchmark to compare)
2. The rom records with higher bitrate -> more cpu intensive -> lags
(compare the bitrate of similar videos between your old and the new rom)
3. The rom's camera driver is wrong/****ed up
.
Hmm, thanks. Well i think it is the 2nd. option . Nevermind, i flashed another rom more suitable for my device . Thank you

Any custom stable rom for LeMax2 with everything working and decent performance?

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to ask if anyone knows of a good quality custom rom for the LeMax 2 that has everything working for daily use?
I have tried Resurrection Remix, Lineage, & Small EUI all myself and each seemed to have a different bug without a known fix.
Here is what I found as far as bugs still existing with latest releases of these roms:
Resurrection Remix - Camera apps all crash constantly
Lineage - Camera takes pictures off centered when zoomed
Small EUI by aurel - GPS is bad - takes many minutes for a lock, often can not lock in clear conditions
All of the above are good quality custom roms generally, and I have no issue with them other then whats listed. My thanks to their developers.
Alas these issues are all mentioned on the forums without any known fixes so I am in search of a new rom, and I just wanted to reach out for any suggestions of any good custom roms with everything working to try next. I would love it to try Oreo, but from what I have read it didn't seem like any of the roms are fully working yet, but if you know if one please let me know! If not Nouget is fine.. any suggestions are appreciated.
The camera, sadly, has been a sticking point for almost every ROM published here that uses an Android 7 or 8 code base. I've personally not had a terrible experience with LOS 14; the camera seems to work, stability is pretty good, and the battery life, while not fantastic, is hardly the worst.
Try pixel experience by shivateja
I am using since first release
V. Very good rom
After trying a lot of ROMS i will definitly stay with slim7. There is everything working fine! Fingerprint, camera, battery - damn! Love it
Offcenter issue is fixed in newest android oreo 8.1 roms.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I am curious have you tried any of the other suggested roms before going with Slim7? I.e. Pixel Experiance? Linage 15 (8.1)?
All comments appreciated.

Custom, stable ROM with good working camera app.

Hello.
Since miui is pain and not smooth, im looking for custom rom that will deliver a good camera experience with mostly good stability and so-so battery life. By camera i mean fully working 60fps recording. With photos i can deal with opencamera.
I did try Xiaomi.EU - its ass too.
Thanks.
