In Modaco Rom, speed (at 3.1 MP the camera is also much fast than the original 5MP, and the quality is enough @ 3.1MP,
if it reacts faster, you can also take better photos... so i'd suggest use 3.1MP!

Hi
Im really dissapointed of the HTC Hero camera - it seems to be very very slow and almost impossible to take photos of moving objects/people.
Anyone know if its possible to improve the camera speed?
I have tried many different Android 2.1 ROMS - but the camera seems to be slow in all of them - and also in the official 1.5 ROM.
Best regards,
Henrik
I have the Optimus 2X, which seems to struggle playing flash videos that are higher than 480p, yet the Motorola Atrix which also uses the Tegra 2 SoC manages to play 720p flash videos smoothly.
Could this be caused by LG not optimizing the software properly? Would a custom ROM possibly fix this problem?

I don't think. Flash uses a lot of hardware resources, most probably its a hardware issue.
Still you can try a modified ROM and if not satisfied, revert back to your factory rom.

That's what I was thinking. But it's weird how the Atrix which has the same CPU and GPU can do it with no problems.

My LG G2x (almost the same device ) can play 720p videos smoothly. Are you sure it's not your internet connection at fault?
P.S. - Yes, custom roms are able to improve the performance of devices.
I would consider checking if the actual ROM you are using, isn't messed up (try a clean installation and see if it continues to stutter the videos).
Also managing your apps on your device would improve (in some situations, like too less system memory to finish the rendering <- NOT sure of that one) performance.
Check the background apps - maybe you are running too many background apps, which occupie memory, and in conclusion you have too less memory to work smoothly.
And as it is for your question for the custom ROM and improoved performance - definately YES. For example HTC HD2 with stock rom of WM is way slower than a custom Adroid 2.3 GB on the same device.

Yeah I think my internet connection should be good enough.
It's incredibly odd though - over at GSMArena.com they had a 3 phone review featuring the Galaxy S, Galaxy SII and the Optimus 2X, and they found that the Samsungs were both able to handle 720p with no problems (the SII could handle 1080p as well), but the Optimus 2X could only go up to 480p.
This is particularly interesting to me because the Galaxy S should be much weaker than the Optimus 2X in terms of hardware.

I just did an upgrade from 2.2.2 to 2.3.4 through LG, and did a factory reset shortly after.
Perhaps I'll try CM9 after its finalized.
FYI: There is a problem in the CM9 camera app which does not support video more than 480p for Galaxy SII. I have replaced the camera app with Gingerbread one and solved the problem.
Guys i am thinking of coming from Samsung Ace to SE Live with Walkman ...
From what i can see .... its development is going great ...
Can you guys please comment on screen size ... like is it comfortable to use ??
Ace has 3.5 inch n LWW has 3.2 inch..... Shouldnt be much diff. rite ??
Other than that .... its hardware config is WOWOWOWOW.......
So i will be really helpful if you guys can comment about screen size and also some other cons if present ...
Every person is different, so I can't say about screen size.
I am actually playing some games with great quality on my LWW.
The loudspeaker...kicks ass!
About screen quality...the screen resolution is the same, so DPI(pixels/dots per inch) is a bit smaller on LWW.
After some months, LWW will receive Ice Cream Sandwich update, something good.
Now, the bad sides...
Battery. Depends on your usage, but quite weak battery on it, never had more than 2 days on this phone. I usually reloaded battery every night, but I haven't tried to make 2 days without reloading on custom ROM. Why...I have no idea
Can't think more at the moment, will let you know more if I remember.
for me, stronger proc and double ram
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4111&idPhone2=3724
It is far better than ace but well yeah the battery life it's not great I will not change tough
this really depends on how you would use the phone.
but i can definitely say that LwW has a much better performance compared to Ace...
Advantages of LWW over Ace:
1. Extra Loud w/out distortion
2. 720p video recording
3. 4.0 promised ice cream sandwich upgrade
4. 1ghz cpu (200mhz higher than ace, plus Adreno 205 over Adreno 200)
5. 512mb ram (2x ram of ace)
6. Better launcher (in my opinion)
7. Dedicated Camera button
8. Dedicated Walkman Button (editable through root)
9. Higher Pixel Density
Advantages of Ace over LWW:
1. 3.5 inch screen
2. Tougher Screen (Gorilla glass over scratch resistant glass of LWW)
3. A bit higher capacity battery
4. Thinner than LWW
Thanks a lot guys .... and ya about battery ... Ace's battery aint that good either ..... 1 day max ..... or 1 and a half if less usage..... so battery aint a issue .... as long as it passes my college hours successfully............ ....
My last ques ( promise ) : Samsung Ace was able to be restored to original stock firmware ... u know so as to claim warranty again ....by flashing through odin.... everything became stock again ... recovery ..kernel ....etc..
Can same be done with this fone ... ofcourse with different software...
And does it have seperate site for Stock Firmwares like sammobile.com for Samsung ?

you can flash back to generic stock using wotan server and if you install cwm before changing the kernel you can back up the stock that came with your phone.
mmmm one thing is certain that we forgot to mention the ace is easier to flash and do stuff. my wife has one and well i know it is easier than my lww or at least it is completely different to mod.
yeah.. its easier to flash...just put one file in odin n flash away..... also its roms already include custom kernel.... is that so here also ??
Nope it's not the same, with Sony phones you will need to unlock the bootloader first if you have a branded sim locked phone most certainly you will have to pay to unlock it to be able to flash custom kernels.
Once you have the boot loader unlocked and access to fastboot you need to flash the custom kernel and then from the cwm that comes with the kernel you flash the rom.
After a while you get used to it
On the other hand going back to stock is more like using Odin.
I have been reading user reviews .... many of them says they have restart problem .... Can i know if that issue is fixed with custom kernel and rom ??

Some corrections.
ICS is not out yet.
Live with Walkman doesn't have secondary Mic for noise cancellation.
According to me, there are no smartphones that take 2 hours for full charge.
Video calling on GSM network was never possible and on 3g android doesn't have it built in.

Can someone tell if we can play HD Games like gta 3 on Live with walkman without lag ?
and other HD games too ... ????

@Someguyfromhell,
-->ICS is not available yet but we can able to upgrade to Android 4 according to SE blog
-->The built-in secondary microphone is used for active noise-cancellation (you can verify this in gsmarena check in telephony section)

-->But it took me complete 2hrs to charge the phone fully i.e 100% (i will let the phone discharge completely until it turns off automatically and after that i will charge the phone is that the problem for me to to charge complete 2hrs)
-->Video calling that's the reason i mentioned in con's sections
if i am wrong please correct me because no one is genius in world there is something that you can learn from others

I have GTA III on my LWW, even though my LWW is overclocked to 1.3 Ghz, I do experience only small lag and that is only sometimes.
Game itself runs good, mostly without lag, sometimes only a bit of lag.
Other HD games...like what? I might have played a lot of games, some of these might be HD, but I can't remember names.
Some people reported that upgrading to .62 messed up their camera... that is they are not able to focus and not able to take clearer pics .... did that happen to any of you guys ???

I cannot find this secondary microphone on this phone, neither can I see any information from official white paper.
And yes, ICS will come some time also.
I'm new to rooting and changing phone's ROM and kernel (rooted my X10 just 2 months ago), so I wanted to ask about main advantages of using different ROM and kernel... right now, I'm using stock 2.3.3 ROM with FPS Uncap and a few more tweaks. I also tried another ROM (from ThJap) with his kernel provided along with his ROM, but I didn't see much difference in phone's performance between stock and modded (it's ironical, that I feel, stock was faster (even when modded ROM have OCed CPU), when I had around 25 apps installed. Modded ROM had imho more stuttering when flipping screens and app drawer).
So the question is:
1. What can be achieved by modding just ROM itself and what by modding kernel?
2. Also there were some things I liked about that ROM, but those I didn't like too, so who can I ask about modding some parts of stock ROM for me?
3. Maybe off-topic, but why after flashing FPS Uncap, FPS was better just in launcher and games, but in menus (e.g. settings screen), gallery, SMS, etc. the phone was so laggy and unresponsive? It's like this even after reinstalling phone completely, when no apps are installed. I was expecting better FPS and responsiveness in all of this (especially gallery, which is unusable right now). Can I do anything about it? Even my friend's Xperia Active, which has the same CPU, is much faster and smoother. I know, it has smaller screen resolution, but the situation is the same with all phones using Snapdragon CPU I've seen so far. Only my X10 is laggy and slow (with stock or modded ROM; it doesn't matter) compared to them.

There are lot of stock based roms better than stock whch already have FPS uncap and all tweaks done.
As you said for me also stock based custom roms became slower and slower as days passed and apps installed.
But I stumbled upon old rom but really solid one.
cm7zmod by zdzihu runs on doomkernel.
Its really fast and hasnt really lagged/sowed down in one and half months of my usage.
No big bugs except tethering not working.
give it a try, you wont regret it.

also modding rom by yourself will be hard at first if you dont have much knowledge about it.
Kernel modding requires more knowledge( I can give u link to guides for doing that if you want). Its not my expertise.
