Coming from an Atrix 4G with CM10, the one thing I'm really gonna miss is DSP manager. I know there is an independent apk you can flash. Has anyone tried it? Does it work? Does it really improve quality nicely? And lastly, how is the sound on this phone overall (only thing I've really heard negative comments on).
I downloaded one from somewhere, its an older version but does the trick. I could post a link to my box if that's allowed. I'm not quite familiar with the bureaucracy of it all.

Thanks! Was it CM's DSP manager or a "third party" app on the appstore or such?
I'm pretty sure it's CM's. https://www.box.com/shared/jef82ek3sb6tqzly5ecz

I love the Sense 3.0 roms for my phone but I also love the DSP Manager that comes on all the cm7 roms which makes my music sound awesome in my car. Is there a way to get DSP Manager on Sense roms?

Yes. I can make up a flashable zip in a little bit to add it to the Rom.

Sorry for the delay... been a bit sick and was sleeping... flash thins from recovery to add DSP Manager.
Nice, I want it for sure. I've noticed a pretty high noise floor and I'm hoping this will help.

Not sure what happened.... if it was me or what but I realized that the attachment isn't showing lol. I'll try again... flash from recovery

Can this be flash on Thunder Bolt as well or was this DSP Manager zip made specfically for the Droid??
I'm a bit of an audiophile and wondering about your music quality experiences with various ROMS.
I'm on pkmn right now and finding the audio output lacking compared to BAMF ICS. Might switch back..

Ineffabilis Deus is running the latest base and has DSP Manager included for tweaking audio.

Maybe ill give that a spin. I use poweramp and its usually great, but for some reason I can't match the sound quality with this ROM.

Well I tried deus, and I think there really is a difference. I wonder why

I hadn't heard that... sorry if thats a known issue I'm not aware of yet. I personally haven't used that kernel, but I know its the only one that processes audio through the Rezounds audio hardware rather than through software as it does by default.

Biggest load of crap I've ever heard. Obviously didn't read the original post where he said the intellianthraX governor was causing bootloops and to use ondemand instead.
Don't listen to him anthrax is amazing and really helps your battery too. I get close to four hours screen time

Agreed. I had to reboot a couple times a day running that kernel (no matter what governor setting I used), with inkredikernel it runs weeks at a time without a reboot.
Well it runs fine on my phone and the add beats drivers are nice.
Note:just thought about it and I've never had a reboot with any kernel including incredikernel.

I've used the Anthrax Kernel with a few different Roms and it would cause Random Freeze ups (battery pull needed) and boot loops. The Max cpu setting is not reliable and it will ramp way up and cause boot loops or freezing.
I dont wanna go back to GB guys. Im finding the sound quality much greater and consistant volumes with Ineffabillis deus ICS compared to all other ICS ROMS i tried. I dont know the technical part of why this would be, but i am very picky about my music and it is much better.

ineffalibis has great sound only wish dsp manager worked with htc music it only works with the google music app tried tweaking it but no go but still either way the sound is much better on ineffalibis deus wonder what chingy did to it!

So just a thought since I use poweramp as well. I noticed today while on pkmn 3.2.0 that audio sounded terrible. I was messing around with power amp and noticed that the beats option was gone. I wonder what Joel did different with the audio? I definitely find it to be a downgrade.

Was a religious poweramp user... Now, with this deus rom, google music with EQualizer app sounds just as great, and more convenient.
And on PKMN poweramp does sound like garbage for me as well.

PowerAmp + CleanROM = musical awesomeness.
Would be great if a developer can chime in and let us know why or what effects the audio output on these ROMS, so we know what to look for when new ROMS come out...

dk, but like Joel for example, knows audio is messed up on pkmn, and is going to be fixing that in the next release.

Looked through available ROMS, did a keyword search, read the "New to the thunderbolt? Look here before posting":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1168433
And read the dictionary (albeit got up to G'ish):

I had a rooted and ROM'd Galaxy Nexus (that was stolen without insurance) and finally got my perm replacement, the Thunderbolt. First things first I noticed tons of bloatware, most of which can't be removed. i.e. Blockbuster, Google Talk, etc. I essentially was hoping to just have a bare bones Android OS. If I can get it on the Market / App store, then I really don't want it on there. Google Talk is throwing sign in errors (even though I'm properly linked to my gmail account) Facebook won't even download without an "unsuccessfully" installed error every time, and I'd like to tether using PDANet. Really just want to use the basics of the phone - but was hoping to just find a debloated copy of Gingerbread. Maybe a few tweaks here and there to speed things up, and something to increase the battery life(from what I hear the batt life is already atrocious) Anyone by chance aware of a ROM that simple that I haven't been able to find? :good:
Jellyblur is very good. Killasense .9 not .19, has been great, skyraider is very good also. Because of the nature of our radio, aosp is tricky. A desensed rom may be ur best bet. Several out there, bully desensed probably my favorite. U can still use a sense kernel on it, imo 5.2 is the best.

Hope I'm not thread jacking but I have a similar question:
My brother picked up a second hand thunderbolt that was rooted and he is having stability issues with the current ROM. I don't have a thunderbolt so I don't know what ROMs to flash for him unfortunately.
He just needs a ROM where speed and stability are critical and everything will work out of the box, including GPS and LTE. Debloat and desense are not that important.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Sfks cm7 works perfectly for me out of the box and is freaking great.

Looks like there are GPS issues with this ROM.
I haven't had a problem and I haven't even had to use the patch.

You might've flashed from a sense ROM with a GPS fix already locked in.
This is my first Samsung phone but in my previous HTC phones our custom kernels allowed for recording both ends of a conversation. Is this possible with any roms/kernels currently available? I couldn't find anything about it

They have several apps in the market that can do that, I use Sanity but if u search the market there are plenty of other options

CallRecorder works good.
I'm still just using Saurom ROM that has it built in. It's gingerbread so you may not want to use it if you are already on ics... I've tried most, if not all ics Roms, and many jb roms for our phone, but the lack of this feature and the lack of any killer app to upgrade... I tested callrcorder on ics and it seemed to work ok.
I forgot to prepare you that callrecorder.is $9.95, as far as phone apps go kind of pricey.
Going to install another jb rom and try out sanity.

This feature, call recording, is the single feature that made me switch from iPhone to android. I honestly do not understand why the wonderful Rlrom developers do not include this and call blocking into their rom(s). I appreciate their efforts, but these kind of PHONE features, to me, would be my priorities, at least before the PDA type features. I've seen devs forget to test if their rom can place and receive phone calls.
Just my opinion, as a big ol' dummy.
I tried sanity, with no joy. Albeit on a cm10 rom, I won't say which. But cm10 is known to have audio problems.
In my case it was simply failing to record anything. Zero size files. Sanity is over a year old, at least the one on the play store.
Eventually, the rom just randomly rebooted. I wiped and restored Saurom, because it records conversations at the click of a button, and has never just rebooted on me for any reason, after several months of daily, almost constant use... I have a giant battery so I mean a LOT of use.
ICS roms appear to no longer be actively developed, and just about everything else is cm10 and have the random reboot and audio issues I've experienced being reported.
Someone tell me a good rom, besides saurom, out their that isn't rotting on the vine. I'd buy callrecorder as long as I know it's going to work on my rom.
Sanity's features looked promising. Just no cheroot.

Just wanted to confirm that CallRecorder works great on stock ICS rom + root. Although Im not sure if root is required. Tested with handset and BT headset and both work beautifully. Call records for incoming voice are internal and sound clean. Probably the 10th recording app I've tried and if I didnt see the recommendation in this thread I'd probably still be looking for something that worked. Not easy with this phone...
Thanks!
The new NOVENA ROM has it built in

So I have been running this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095366&highlight=slim and have had call clarity problems on the other end with more than one person and on different days. The person I'm talking too can not understand anything I say, yet I hear them perfectly. Is there something I can do to remedy this?
Run a different rom.
There has been a fix to the cm base that's used but it hasn't been implemented into that ROM yet that I'm aware. Or if it has you are on an older build. and need the newest one.
If there is ANY background noise you'll sound super far away.
