I've searched and can't really find a clear answer, but is there any progress on kernel development for these new cm10 and aosp ROMs were getting? I would love to help in any way I can but I rarely have free time and I have no clue where to begin developing myself.

Kernel source is on Sportsstar89's github.
A few of the bugs may have kernel-related solutions (USB does, for sure).... Other than that, not much...
I was hoping faux would make some kernels for non-sense Roms, but it looks like he is doing a lot of work on the nexus 4

I think it's quite fast to be honest. We had a ROM and root before the device was even released!
Saying that, I'm pleased with the speed and interface on the s3 as it is (for now), so finding little reason to install custom.
Once voodoo is enabled on a kernel I'll look at installing a custom one.

lols you call being rooted already even when the rooter didn't have the device slow?
you call having beta roms already floating around even when the device was just released slow?
the only time i'll say development is slow is if a certain gavin-phelan actually manages to develop something let's say the next decade for this sgs3.
come on you devs! where are your developments?!?!?! what's taking all of you so long?! it's so easy to develop something you know, even us random posters cand do it fast and easy!
you are all so ##$$&@*@ slow for gavin-phelan's sake!
very few devs would spend $700 for a device.

USA has different specs and this model is not going to get released here anyway. To the op, cm9 developers are working on this and aosp roms always take some time after release since they have to do some device specific tweaks. Right now most roms will be stock variants.

Rooting a Samsung's nothing though because Samsung wants it to be easy so doesn't include any encryption.

Now I know that the "best rom" threads are banned but this isn't that. I'm now trying to find out what's best. Just what Rom fits me. I'm looking for a Rom that's just bare. Essentially I hate touch wiz and miss ics and wanted to know a suggestion on a very simple very stable Rom. Thanks in advanced xda community.

looking at your signature you're in the wrong forum and flashing anything from here is going to result in a real messy, possibly terminal, situation
Anyone who enjoys CM should really give this a try. It is very simple, has plenty of options, is very stable.

If someone likes cm. It is a nice rom. So yes try it. But there are many who like sense very much. But this is so fast compared to sense. I use TL kernel with it under clocked to 918. Still very fast.I also use trickster mod for kernel settings. It was simply a suggestion.

Yes thank you for this post. I don't see why recommending a rom in something like "general" chat would be questioned. But anyways, because of this post I'm now on this ROM and it's incredibly fast and stable.
I tried it but didn't like the gapps that came with it.

Thanks dude, but I knoticed one issue in your picks, you must ask permission from torxx to use trickdroid.... Before you can publish the Rom.
Also I have the HTC Desire 600 /system dump. So if you need any of system apps resized ( it has same screen res ) you can always pull from that. http://www.4sync.com/rar/C9s7CAXZ/system.html

Yeah cause torxx has some amazing roms and he puts a lot of work into his roms. And I would love to see a trickdroid in our forum with either by him making it official or his permission.... Especially with sense 5 trickdroid.

I'll make a Sense 5 ROM, or port one, once we get a 3.4 kernel from @ravike14. :good:
Shouldn't be too long since SebastianFM is helping him.
The reason why we can't get one right now is because we need a kernel, or it won't boot.
I've got the port ready, just waiting for the kernel...
There is progress, but nothing ready for release yet.

It should be perfectly stable depending on the kernel. What we really need is the Bluetooth drivers from TI (Texas Instruments) but they're proprietary unfortunately, plus HTC and TI don't care about us so they won't release their CODE.

I care more about the progress of 3.4 kernel. What about that?
Well, the kernel is in work. Ravike14 has a lot of work to do.
Must of the things that need to be done have to be written from scratch.
