I'm looking to disassemble an Xperia P to investigate a possible FM transmit hardware hack.
I see the Xperia S writeups and the Russian stuff here: http://goldphone.tv/articles/196450/ and here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Sv_m2E50RY
But now I'm trying to get the photos for FCC certification. Engadget linked them here but the URL is broken: https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas...e=N&application_id=281605&fcc_id='PY7A3880135
Does anyone have the documents and photos, or have any idea where I could find them ?
I tried several FCC site searches using application_id of "281605" and fcc_id of "PY7A3880135"
Thanks !
They are some other photos here : http://www.wirelessgoodness.com/201...its-the-fcc-with-teardown-photos-user-manual/

It appears that very few people have opened any of these ST-Ericsson based Xperia's. And that Torx screw in the sides is smaller than any tool I have yet. Not an easy task I guess.
If anyone finds them I'd still like to get the original FCC photos, which I think are higher resolution.
I couldn't find the cg2900 in those photos. Here are the notes I've made about the identifiable chips and the markings on them:

Just bought this tablet this morning. Found out that the programs have been signed with the wrong id. Can't update programs without deleting them, which means I need to root the device. I'd like to know if any of the rooting methods are better than any other if they work. I'd also like jellybean. Would I have to try and make a custom rom? Or could I try one from another tablet?
I'd be grateful for some help, but I know everyone is busy with more interesting stuff, so I'll wait patiently.
In the mean time I'll try some of the methods out there and hope I don't brick the device.

+1 on the questions.
I think for root, some tools using generic exploits for 4.0.3 might work. but for custom roms we might be out of luck.

Thanks. does that mean we can use the ICS 4.04 firmware from http://en.ployer.cn/support.php?id=3 along with the install guide from it? (and that the firmware between the bauhn and momo units is the same, or compatible, despite physical appearance differences (like physical keys, and pooosibly another CPU (the bauhn tablets are all Amlogic Cortex A9...if the A10 in the allwinner is the CPU type ref))?
also, any idea if the page you linked to has cooked roms with root included?
OK.
Rooted with this...

Seems to work. Have deleted youtube.apk from the system directory. Rebooted. Installed youtube 4.06? (I think) Now youtube just won't run. Did a full factory reset and cache wipe from recovery (wasn't even sure recovery existed on this thing, but there you go). Installed youtube again. Still doesn't work even after deleting program cache and deleting settings from app menu.
Will see how I go with the link from AJ88. See where it leads.
More later.
You may use 4.0.3 firmware in your tablet and may use clockwork recovery 5 in your tablet...
Many people use this firmware in micromax funbook..
Just give it a try many things in this player momo tab and your device is same..so do at your risk..
First try to run recovery if you can flash it successfully first backup your current firmware so that in future if things goes wrong you can get your original device back.
Best luck

If bauhn tablet is running on cortex A9 processor than this will not work for you...
Because this Chinese custom Roms and all stuff there on tablet republic is for A10 all winner tablets...
Inspite of that just read that forum throughout may be you can find any answer..
Or you can PM That forum admin for further help

So I have to find firmware compatible with my processor and other hardware inside this thing? Do I have that right?
Time to start looking for something with the same hardware.
Yes that's because if your device ram is 512 and you flash a firmware of device which has 1gb ram than how it operate?
Same for processor

these might be silly questions, but since we now have root access - is there a standard Cyanogen mod for ICS we can install/along with the required CWM or do those need to be custom made for the specific customization of ICS 4.0.3/rom/kernel/bootloader/etc?
Not silly at all as far as I'm concerned.
But; from what I've read, there is no ROM that can be installed on everything. They all have to be modified to suit the hardware.
I'm still looking into ROM kitchens at this point to figure out what needs to be done to create a ROM.
Needless to say, this'll take a while though.

If you find something that works let me know. I'm happy with ICS on mine, but I've found that the USB firmware is not exactly perfect and doesn't work properly through the Android API. You have to resort to the Kernel Native driver. I wouldn't mind finding a firmware that actually works properly.
If anyone is making a rom for this device, I'll be happy to assist, but i don't have any programing skills.
There are too many bugs on this system with Ice scream sandwich and hoping a rom would clean them out. Especially with updating the youtrube app on Google play.

Try the Ainol novo7 Elf2 Tablet at SlateDroid.com
After countless protests we've finally gotten the company AMLogic and Ainol to release sources. Though its dirty and incomplete, its something.
Some had a go at making CM9 too. The tablet uses the same SoC (AML-M6) so it has some compatible drivers, it would need to be cooked a certain different way to make it compatible though.
As for r00t, try:
SuperOneClick http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Download: http://shortfuse.org/?p=193
That should work, if it doesn't then try:
CF_ROOT http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1687590
Download: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.adbd
And if that shouldn't work, this one is guaranteed to work:
ADB Remount Timing Exploit *NEW*
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
And if that didn't work, then its not the tablet's fault, you're to blame ; )

Thanks heaps,
I have successfully rooted my AMID-972XS device using the 3rd option, "ADB Remount timing Exploit *NEW*"
Removed youtube.apk with ES File Explorer from Google play Store.
Downloaded youtube app from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1699849 and installed it using Astro, from Google play store.
All works fine, thanks heaps
Hi, I'm experiencing weak wireless signal on the AMID-972XS while other devices like phone and laptop seem to pick a better signal at the same location.
Has anyone had this problem? I'm wondering if it's normal due to the hardware spec of the wireless card or is my unit faulty.

I first thought it was a faulty tablet then I replaced it and I'm having the same problem with the new one.
When I try and load a youtube videos it takes a while and when it loads it keeps cutting out.
I check the wireless bar and find that there's only 2 of the 3 bars of signal.
But on my iPhone same located youtube videos load fast and no drop outs.
Anyone know which NFC chip the Xperia Tablet Z uses? I've found references to an NXP 44701, but can't find a data sheet or anything else on that part. I also find it curious that many of the NXP parts begin with letters, not numbers.
I'd like to know what the chip's part number is, and how it is interfaced to the main CPU. It does not appear to be USB. Anyone know?
Thanks!
I wonder that as well.. nobody knows?
Hi,
the number 44701 clearly indicates a PN544. Where 44 is the short code for PN544 and 701 is chip revision information.
Regarding its connection to the application processor: The chip should support HSU (High Speed UART), SPI and I2C. For NFC chips on Android this is typically I2C due to the existing kernel drivers (cf. https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/kernel/blob/yuga-aosp/drivers/nfc/ for Xperia kernel).

Michael
This is my first thread, but hopefully not the last
I hope to find someone who is able to tell me some more about a car DVD device that I found recently:
In this case is Special for Audi A3 (8P). T7112A
(can't post the link here - please look for it! I'm sorry)
MY Research in the net for the model no. brought no results, no vids, no Reviews about this unit.
Does anyone know to which platform this is based on?
anyone know some Links? User Manual?
Feature like 1G DDR3-ram and the A10 proc sounds really interesting
it also supports canbus...
does Cortex have a A10 processor?
I tried to contact the supplier, but no answer yet.
Thanks to you, guys.

Hi guys, i new here but i have a Smart Tech Tablet based on Rockchip 3066 or 3026 (and i´m not sure) firmware, 1.0 Ghz Dual Core Procesor, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB of internal store, Android 4.2, 7" Display, HDMI output, DC 5V input for charge, 0.3 MPX Front Camera and 2 MPX Primary Camera, this tablet is not passing the boot logo, the last time I worked showed that the model was M73 , I searched the page firmware Rockchip and firmware you need is not listed on any side have looked in many places and a friend I commented on the site and told me to publish my ue problem asiq the truth that someone would appreciate me collaborate with this problem..
By the way, in the back label appears a reference MGM0283 which have also sought appears and does not appear the same way on the same page look smart tech nor the tablet appears below the images to see if any of you is the grand gesture of spending the original firmware for this tablet ....

It says you haven't been active since 2014 but i figured I'd ask anyways: is there any way that i can get you to pull the images for that device and upload them for me? It would be greatly appreciated.
I have bought a dongle and discovered it does not have the usual RK SoC , instead it has an Allwinner A10. The pcb is red, it has the SoC, flash, sram, some voltage regulators and a push button and a led. Does anyone have any idea where to get firmware roms for this dongle? The stock firmware is very bad. Dlna barely works. Miracast disconnects immediately after connection.
@an31415 people would need the name and model number to stand a chance of helping you.
I think the best you could hope for is firmware from another identical device sold under a different brand name.
if you were able to try this you'd still need to have the original firmware on hand in case it didn't work.

Thanks @3mel for your reply. The product box says "HDMI Dongle Wifi Display Receiver" and on the dongle it is written "Anycast". This is one of the many clones you can by on Aliepxress. I was hoping it's one with an RK cpu, but after cracking it open I found out it has an Allwinner A10 cpu. I searched high and low on internet to find and alternative firmware for it because the current one is crap. I'll try to attach some pictures here of the PCB, maybe somebody can identify it and point me in the right direction.
But how do I attach picture? Can junior members do it ?
More info: the dongle PCB is red and has a label, SP-X11-V2.0, and the name of the Wifi access point it creates is SP-xxxxxx, where the Xs are random hex digits.
The Wifi addon pcb is green and has no markings. The wifi chip is a well known Realtek that is found in all other similar products.
if you inbox me the AliExpress link I will post it here for you, that's probably the best way for anyone to identify it.
https://m.aliexpress.com/item/4001025810891.html
I received the variant in the colorful box(not the blue ones) and it does not say M2 nor M4 on the box. The product description says it has an AM8252 cpu, but it's not true. I guess the only way to id it is to post pictures of the pcb.
https://youtu.be/uXgBrT6J_Ew
the chips aren't the same as yours but does the board look similar ?
being honest I wouldn't get your hopes up, it's a cheap clone / copy of a chromecast. it's not going to be supported that well, they've already sold you something that doesn't match their product description. take it for what it is and learn that you get what you pay for... sorry.
The board is not similar, it has different ICs, different layout, different color. But the plastic enclosure is identical, except for the venting holes on the back, which are bigger on mine. This case copies the Chromecast (first generation), so people expect it to be a Chromecast clone. It isn't, but it does serve a similar purpose
The date on the PCB is 2019.10.10, fairly recent. I expect a new wave of clones have hit the market, disguised as already established products, but based on a different SoC. The only problem is their firmware is even less stable than the old ones, so I guess other people, not just me, are looking for solutions.
some of those people looking need to be devs.
Yup. Or anybody with a similar but not identical A10 based board. Maybe we can spot different fw versions in the wild
A small update if anybody is interested. I've connected the board via usb to my laptop (running linux mint). Doing this while keeping the button pressed will put the board's bootloader in some sort of firmware update mode. Running lsusb will show it as an usb device : "Bus 001 Device 066: ID 1f3a:efe8 Onda (unverified) V972 tablet in flashing mode". Of course this is not an Onda tablet, but it certainly has an identical SoC, thus the misidentification of the usb device.
Googling for this string I randomly found out there are some people called the sunxi community that strive to create a linux kernel and toolchain for these Allwinner devices, and they have done it quite successfully.
There are many custom firmwares for tablets, tv boxes and mini PCs that are based on the allwinner SoC. It seems this miracast hdmi device is just a trimmed down mini PC. It certainly runs pure linux, no Android, because its ram and flash are much smaller than what I found in the specs of any android devices.
So the question is: does any body have any knowledge of the existence of such a linux based firmware for this miracast board ? I'll go ask the sunxi people also.
