Are we limited to flashing things specifically for the I-605, or are there international variants that are compatible our devices, so we have more choices for roms/kernels?
It's slightly confusing because we can use SIM cards from different carriers, so do we have the same hardware? Thanks.

Just realized there's a whole separate forum for the ATT note. ROM's for unlocked version not compatible here?
No the International one has a different processor.
Alright, I've been reading like mad here. I'm getting basically two sets of stories to the same question.
Q: Is there ANY hardware difference in the US/CAN models?
I'm aware of the INT Version, and the KOR version. But, for CAN/US despite different modem software. I assume the hardware is in fact identical? I know for example that my t-999v has the same FCC number as the us TMO version. If this is in fact the case then any s3 should work on any US or Canadian Carrier with some sort of modem hack?
I'd love to get your takes on this guys. Thanks again.
Canadian version is same as ATT version. Sprint and other CDMA carriers have different radios.
The Snapdragon 800 includes a built-in cellular radio. Some phones that use this chip support all/nearly all common carrier frequencies. Other phones that use it support only certain frequency bands, usually those of the particular carrier that is selling the phone. I have seen some speculation that the chips in all of these phones may be capable of supporting the full list of frequencies, and that the carrier-locked phones simply disable some bands, possibly via firmware.
Does anyone know whether or not this is true? If so, has anyone looked into whether or not it might be possible to reconfigure which bands are available in any way? If it matters, I would be particularly interested in using the new (A86) Padfone Infinity in the U.S., but T-Mobile and AT&T 4g/LTE frequencies are not listed in the specs.
Thanks!
Moved to the right forum, thanks!
Hello All!
I am interested in knowing more about purchasing non-Verizon branded smart phones for use on a Verizon plan (with working talk, sms, and data). I am wondering if there are options available for buying phones that are CDMA capable (like from Sprint) or international models that can be used on Verizon's network. I understand the capabilities of CDMA and GSM, as well as their differences. However, I would like to know if anyone has had any experience with taking (for instance) an international S4 (i9505) and using it with Verizon.
My reasoning for this, as many may have contemplated, is finding a way to take certain Samsung models of phones (i.e. S4, N3, S5, N4) that are unlocked and using them on Verizon's network because of the limitations placed on Verizon's phones (e.g. locked bootloaders). My hope is that Verizon users will not be entirely subject to buying dev phones for unlocked Samsung devices.
I do understand why GSM-only phones will not work (with Verizon being CDMA only), but I have heard that some carriers (including Verizon) may be upgrading to different network standards in the future.
Thanks,
MetaMav

Hi. I've been looking at this and the SM-A32 5G models to replace a dead Moto X4. I see a few reasons to be interested in the international unlocked versions of either, particularly for future root and custom ROM options, plus things like FM Radio. But band-wise, it looks like I might be hobbling myself not getting US T-Mobile or unlocked versions (SM-A526U, eg). Does anyone have experience using an international unlocked version on T-Mobile? Thanks
I have the international one and I'm using it on t-mobile, its been working flawless
