Can you give a few more details like which f/w ? Try Root by Bin4ry if its ICS. But if your f/w is 6.1.1.B.54 or 6.1.1.C.10, flash B.10 kernel, root it then flash the original kernel back [Use Flashtool and stock FTFs ]

Yes the firmware is 6.1.1.B.54.
I have flashed it last night due to the softdead of the cell.
& one more thing I screenshot in this version by pressing the power and volume down button
Sent from my ST25i using xda app-developers app

Ok what you gotta do now is flash the B.10 kernel.. Open flashtool and tick all the 'Exclude options' of B.1.10 except the "Exclude Kernel" and untick all the wipe options above it, then Flash it on your phone. Should take less than 1 minute.
Then, boot up the phone and root using Bin4ry Root method with Backup & Restore. After that, reboot the phone, then follow exact same propcedure I mentioned with B.1.54 ftf to flash the original kernel back
Now, you are succesfully rooted lemme know if you have mroe doubts

[TUT] Install Stock 4.0.2.A.0.62 rom [+Root and CWM]

Here is the tutorial for Installing stock 4.0.2.A.0.62 ROM plus root and CWM. I am not responsible or anyone mentioned below for bricking your phone in case, tested on my Xperia ray with unlocked bootloader using S1 tool.
Requirements
Unlocked Bootloader (preferred) although there is a work around for locked bootloader
4.0.2.A.0.62 FTF files
Flashtool
recoveryRay.img by and Rootxperia.zip b1n4ry (for rooting)
CWM
Installation:
How to Install stock 4.0.2.A.0.62 ROM:
Download this stock 4.0.2.A.0.62 ROM. Thank you Aire for providing the link.
After download you will have a zip file. Extract it.
Download flashtool here and extract it.
Create FTF file using flashtool from the 4.0.2.A.0.62 ROM zip you extracted earlier. Now if you don't know how to create FTF files, there's a good tutorial here.
If you successfully created FTF file, you should see a file with extension “.ftf” in the “firmwares” folder inside “FlashTool” folder
Run the executable “X10FlashTool.exe” located in the FlashTool folder
Now click “Flash” button and select flashboot. Now select the firmware from the popup menu. Make sure “Wipe user data” box is checked and then click “OK”.
The application will ask you to put your Ray in flashboot mode, to do this turn off the phone, hold the volume down button while while connecting the USB cable to your computer.
Follow the on screen instruction and your device will reboot. Notice that the reboot process will take longer at first.
How to install Root
Please note that this is only applied to devices with unlocked bootloader. Alternately, you can just install a custom kernel and root using zergrush method but if you want to try the .62 kernel from this stock rom then do this.
Download rootxperia.zip here and place it in your sd card
Enter device in fastboot mode. Turn off phone, hold volume up while you connect the USB cable to computer
Download the recoverRAY.img provided below, you will get a zip file, extract it.
Open folder inside Flashtool where fastboot.exe exists (/FlashTool/x10flasher_lib)
Place the recoveryRAy.img inside the folder
Open command line in this folder
Test if it recognize your device, to do this type fastboot devices, if there is a result here proceed.
Now here's the tricky part, to enter a temporary recovery type fastboot boot recoveryRAY.img
*Notice that we didn't use fastboot flash boot ****.img here because as bin4ry said this recovery is designed to work just as recovery, if you flash it to your device it will NOT boot system anymore! This is just a temporary recovery for you so be careful not to flash it.
Now wait and your phone will reboot, you will see the FREE XPERIA splash screen and your device will now enter temp CWM recovery
On your phone choose install custom zip, locate the rootxperia.zip you added earlier in your SD card and flash it.
Reboot, your device is now rooted.
*to root your device with locked bootloader, they say you can install previous stock kernel and root using zergrush method.
How to install CWM
Download this then extract
Make sure you enabled USB debugging, and also you need to set Screen timeout to 10 minutes so you don't miss the superuser promt
Run install-cwm1.cmd from the folder
Follow screen on screen instruction, reboot.

Aire said, his current kernel supports .62 but they are currently working for repack based on this new firmware.
I haven't tried installing any custom firmware at the moment, I want to test this stock firmware for changes and improvement especially the baseband and battery consumption.

Hm ok, btw, can you post the original link for rootxperia.zip?
EDIT: sorry you already did that thanks!
UPDATE: I'm trying to do SEUS update now though. Hope this thing won't brick..
UPDATE 2: SEUS update won't brick our phone if it uses the Testpoint method O what a happy day it is.. Let's see if i can flash aire kernel back.
is that a global version or what ? some people said, that version has some bugs..
can we root this version with the new DoomLord v4 Root ?
from the Arc forum, i found that they can root their device with .62 firmware just by using flashtool.. can we do that so ?
thx

The firmware is provided by Aire, however if you encounter ftf generic firmware, it will be nice if you post it here.
As to bugs, I'm using this firmware for a day now and I noticed improvement in battery and speed, no bugs so far. I haven't tried the doomlord v4 root, but rooting via recovery is easy.

O that.. That means you need to unlock the bootloader (at least with Test Point method). Never thought that won't work before.

If your bootloader is still locked you can not root your device using that method. The only work around is to install previous kernel and root using zergrush method.

Thank you "idareyoutoclickthis" and "hansip87" for your replies.
In fact I had rooted my Ray earlier 4.0.2.A.0.42ver using the zergrush method using DooMLoRD_v4_Root Which I lost when I upgraded to 4.0.2.A.0.62ver. Now DooMLoRD_v4_Root won't work with 4.0.2.A.0.62ver update.
Now what about the bootloader thing? Sorry for being so dumb. Can you please elaborate a bit? I've got only got to the point wherein i checked the status using the service menu (*#*#.....#*#). It only says Rooting Status: Bootloader unlocking allowed: Yes.
What do I have to do now? Please help.

Indeed .62 is the latest built which include alot of improvements specially on batter issue.
If you don't want custom rom and kernel and is contented with the stock ROM and kernel then you don't need to unlock your bootloader.
to root your device, you need to flash stock 4.0.2.A.0.42 kernel only, you can do this with locked bootloader and root using zergrush method.

=stock kernel/rom +root.
Ok,you need:
a fastboot enabled device & unlocked bootloader. -> must read tutorial by lollyhost100
a working flashtool+drivers
a MODKERNEL : here: munjeni <confirmed/working
a stock GB rom:
XPERIA SOLA 6.0.B.3.184 Central Europe
or here: XPERIA SOLA 6.0.B.3.184 Asian
ok,
1.
copy MT27i_6.0.B.3.184_Central Europe.ftf (or Asian) to C:\Flashtool\firmwares
start flashtool in flashmode (hit the lightning)
select - MT27i_6.0.B.3.184_Central Europe.ftf - untick verification - press "ok" (see flashtool_step1.jpg below)
insert usb with volume DOWN
flash starts, takes 1-2 minutes
wait for "restarting device " -> if it just sits there and wait - just close flashtool and remove usb - dont worry its all done.
power off phone
2.rooting:
copy (and rename if you want syntax simple) kernel.elf to c:\fastboot (you did prepare a fastboot folder yes?)
insert usb with volumeUP
cmd to fastboot folder:
run cmd:
fastboot flash boot kernel.elf
(takes 3 sec)
- remove usbcable
- start phone as normal
- enable your google etc and internet settings.
- enable - Settings>>Applications>Development>tick all 3 options and "ok"
- and enable- Settings>>Applications>unknown sources <- tick this and "ok"
.-update superuser binary <- make sure you have working internet/wifi here-
(open app drawer -<super user >-
when all updating is done-power off
3.start flashtool in flashmode (again) (volumeDOWN)
select - MT27i_6.0.B.3.184_Central Europe.ftf (again)
wipe nothing - leave only kernel unticked -> see the pic!
flash only kernel+loader
see "flashtool_final step.jpg"

Doomlord rooted the kernel back in the days of the .564 firmware. Are you sure its a good idea to combine the new 184 firmware with the older pre-rooted kernel from .564?
And we don't need an unlocked Bootloader for that?

Thanks for your explanation, gazhead. So if I understand correctly, the second step of flashing the pre-rooted kernel is only there for installing/updating superuser and su binaries and stuff?
I am currently on doomlords pre-rooted .564-kernel with .571 ROM. Is there a way I can preserve all my user data prior to flashing according to your howto?

Lol im so used to make backups so i forgot to mention it.
Just use pccompanion an make full backup
This method will wipe data/cache.
We aways recommend wiping this prior to new rom - its "standard procedure" with roms all over XDA.
This wipe will ensure a fresh clean install.

Thanks again for your answer. However I've got a few more questions
Will PC Companion only backup user data or also system files ?
Will PC Companion work although I already unlocked the boot loader the sony official way?
Once I restore my backup after the procedure, won't PC Companion overwrite any system files with older ones?
Thanks

there's nothing really in there. So you can safely flash the 184 ftf without ticking "wipe user data". Of course you will still have to re-root the device afterwards using gazheads technique
it'll be the best if we have stock 184 + root + recovery ... how can we install recovery in a clean stock rom with only root?!?
I have a problem now. Superuser app says "Gaining root access" fails. the su binary is there and is updated to ver 3.1.1
I had root access once I did the procedure, it seems that I got this error since I have updated SU binary.
Already tried reflashing pre-rooted doomlord kernel, without any luck.
Any ideas?

[Q][U] How i can root firmware 6.1.1.B.1.54 on xperia u

how i can root the new firmware 6.1.1.B.1.54 for the xperia u ??
First, you need to flash the B.1.10 kernel available here and then, root it using Bin4ry's Tool After that, flash back B.1.54 kernel and you are done
and how i do it? can you write an instruction
i know, my english is bad ^^
Do you know how to use Flashtool ? What you need to do is either get the kernel file or the entire Stock FTF from here, then flash it with Flashtool
After selecting Flashtool, deselect all the options on top right relating to Wipe and select all options on bottom right pertaining to Exclude, except for Exclude Kernel (we dont tick Exclude Kernel). Then click Flash and connect your device and you succesfully flashed just the kernel of that FTF
Step-by-step please!
i dont get it
please can you make a step by step instruction for me please
i know my english is bad ^^
Take a look at this video It shows how to flash an ftf with Flashtool

Root access gone after flashing 6.1.1.B.1.54
1) I had xperia U firmware 6.1.1.B.1.10 .
2)
I rooted my my xperia U with flashtool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1933985
It was rooted perfectly.
3 ) Later on, I used flashtool to upgrade flash my phone to 6.1.1.B.1.54 firmware
using this --
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2075526
But, now when I am opening Titanium Backup or other application. I see the message no root access found!
I saw in some thread that adding some files helped restore root access...
Please advise...
Hey bro,
Sorry for late reply When you flash stock ftf, you'll lose root What you need to do is flash back just the Kernel of B.10 [In Flashtool deselect all the Wipe Commands and select all the Exclude Commands except the Kernel) and then you can root with Bin4ry tool or Flashtool. Then after that, flash back the kernel of B.54 or whichever firmware you wanted by the same way I just described
Hope it helps
Cheers

Can't root Sony Xperia Sola.

Hello.
I tried to root my Sony Xperia Sola with Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v9 however whenever i try to restore backup named RootMe phone says - Could not Restore- reconnect external memory and try again. Than phone restarts and says all done, however whn I try to install ClockworkMod Recovery it says that phone is not rooted correctly. How can I fix this?

Problem
I have problems too. Stock ICS Xperia Sola. Trying to root with Bin4ry's bat file. I have tried to make it work using any version but it denies. Ex. : v9 :
I can restore RootMe but after rebbot command line just says that it doesn't have permission to mount.
v31:
RootMe doesn't even exist. Used both special- xperia mode and normal new. Nothing, no popup no backup but phone reboots.
Any help ?
IMHO easiest method for rooting is flashing prerooted kernel.
1. download fastboot
2. find some prerooted kernel in sola development thread and put it into fastboot folder
3. flash kernel
phone should be rooted, many prerooted kernels come with cwm recovery so you don't need to install it separately
Hi guys,
As said by lwd8cmd, flash a kernel custom, they are pre rooted (need bootloader unlocked).
It takes 10 seconds to download and flash.
But if your bootloader is locked you need to :
-flash .10 stck kernel
-root
-reflash .54 stock kernel
When your bootloader is unlocked, the life is more simple

Please do like anybody, follow the tuto on xda.
You need to know that you can't APPLY the root script when you run .54 kernel, so:
-flash .10 stck kernel with flashtool
-reboot and root
-flash .54 stock kernel with flashtool and the root stay
Go to the following link to found all what you want

(Not a Noob)Xperia u not getting rooted .10 kernel

Hello, thank you taking your time.
I Have flashed rooted modified many sony and samsung devices including 2 XUs before but this one does not get rooted in ICS.
I got a XU of a colleague running GB and I updated it to ICS .B.100 firmware. and for root, as usual method flashed .10 kernel and flashtool also stated boot loader status as rooted. but I cant get SU binary or superuser or supersu into the system using flashtool root or Doom-Lords batch file. all stops with 6..1.B.100 not supported even I have already flashed .10 kernel. So I checked build number on settings and it also stating .100 even flash tool successively flashed .10 . Then I tried manually push SU binary via adb and it soft bricked the phone. I cant understand what else I can do here. all adb drivers, s1 fast boot drivers, adb commands, fastboot commands all working perfectly. can somebody help me with whats going on here?
thank you again.
Note: Boot loader unlocked.
