why two lcd density values in build prop? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Now that I got my phone all unlocked and running beans build two I always like changing the lcd density to the 300-290 range. My question is why does the note 2 have two settings in build props and all over phones ive had only have one? I changed both to 290 and everything seems good but im wondering if just changing one would do something different weather the first changes some thinf and the second changes others. If anyone knows id appreciate some info. Thanks in advance.

I only have one for lcd density and one for lcd brightness.
Not trying to tell you what to do, but I'd suggest changing to 280 because it has more compatibility.

Interesting. Is there anything in particular that doesn't work on that dpi? Have you ever had a SOD using it? I had several of them @ 240.

I wonder why I have two for density. Oh well. But I do wonder I have never had an issue with dpi and things not working. So whats more compatible about 280. I appreciate the info though.

Running 240 on alpha 2 here and when I updated it today it crashes every single time what gives?

It's running fine for me with DAGr8's alpha 2 but my DPI is 320.

Yea so I switched between 320 and 240...it seems google took out 240 support with this update. Oh well, the older version was working well enough for me anyways.
I know it sounds snobby or whatnot but it really is hard to go back to 320 after a week at 240...

Off topic, but what I did as a compromise was stay at 320 dpi, then used an app called Big Font to set the system font to 75%.

Good idea. I'll check that out in the morning.
I looked around a bit and it seems the Nexus folks are having the exact same DPI issues. Hopefully google will get on this before too long.

Ah...lol. Yes, I should have thought about that first.
Chrome Beta runs fine on the stock leak, but its slower than the stock browser.

Open Rom Toolbox
go over the the Performance Column
click build.prop Tweaks
or open build.props Editor and look at the ro.sf.lcd.density
So I tried 280 dpi and chrome works great. Actually liking this dpi for everything else as well... Think I'm gonna stay here.

240dpi was crashing for me as well. I changed to 241dpi and it works fine. Not sure how this will effect the market though.

LCD Resolution Alternative

Hey Guys,
I use LCD Resolution for my Galaxy SII and love it, but it doesn't work on my 300t for some reason. However, I found an app that does work:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.marutian.dpichanger
Try it out, I love it.

PS I use value 120

It just makes everything smaller as if we had a larger resolution (I just hate the huge icons and text, want it to look more like a computer, not a freaking kid's toy)

lol, the OP is in English too. It was the first one I tried after the OG "LCD Density" and it worked, so I didn't continue trying others.

Screenshots on its page were showing Korean (Hangul). I didn't realize that it had full English support.

Just in case anyone using this recently switched to CleanRom2.4 from tf700, looks like it doesn't work anymore. Workaround is to open the build.prop using es file explorer and editing the density value there.
Look for:
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
change to 240 to your preferred value.

hi, I'm using the new Cleanrom 2.5 inheritance for the TF700 and I looked for the line in build.prop but it does not exist. Can the line be created? If so, where do I put it?
Thanks.
BTW that freeking Rom is superfast, I'm using it with Clemsyn 1.7ghz kernel.
Yes, you can create it. Just put it at the bottom of the build.prop.

Display Density Help

Hello All,
I have rooted my GN2 and loaded the ROM Toolbox from the play store. I have set the ro.sf.lcd_density to 240 and everything works great except the dialer and mail program (not gmail) The screen does not look correct even though the dialer buttons function correctly.
I have used the Paranoid Android Rom on my old galaxy note and it had per app resolution. Is there a way to edit the dialer and mail to make it look correct.
Thanks,
J
Interested to know about this as well, as I'd like to adjust my density. Have you tried 241? Does it help any? I heard the camera is off too @ 240.

Yep just tested camera and its off. It works just off.
Any help out there.

[Q] GPE scaling?

Only had this for a few days so far since the sale on Google play, everything is great with it however the size of the keyboard, text in the notifications area and GUI elements (I.e. chrome address bar) are massively huge and are almost twice the size of what I see on my nexus 7 2013, is this just the way it is or is there some setting I have yet to find or is this just the way it is?
I have set fonts to small but that had no effect.
Edit /system/build.prop look for the lcd dpi string and change from 400 to 320. 320 is the native dpi of the display
You can only do this if rooted.
