[Q] Cannot send or receive MMS, Omega v. 16.2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I've got 3000 MMS per month from my service provider, and my SGSII GT-i9100 is randomly not sending/receiving the MMS. SMS works just fine as always, but MMS is troubled. Sometimes, it will send/receive MMS without a problem, but then again sometimes it won't. It just gets stuck on "sending"-animation, and after a reboot it says that it failed to send the MMS. Just now, I managed to send 1 MMS to my gf, and then the second MMS got stuck on the "sending"-animation.
The settings have been double checked at least 10 times, the ROM has been wiped and reflashed several times, and Wi-Fi has not been on (I first noticed this problem when I accidentally had Wi-Fi on and then tried to send MMS, after that I instantly turned Wi-Fi off and the problems have persisted ever since).
Browsing online works great, and uploading files too. Signal strength is almost at max all the time etc...
I've used several ROMs, now I'm on Omega v. 16.2, and I use Go SMS Pro to send my sms/mms... The stock sms-app is installed too, but I don't use it. Also I've made wipe settings and caches and fixed permissions a dozen times... Nothing has helped that I've tried. Sometimes the MMS works, but mostly it won't.
SIM card must not be the one to blame, as I can send MMS with my Gio, that has some custom ROM also, and this SIM attached to it...
Any fixes?

[Q] AT&T MMS issues

Hi all,
I want to preface this by saying I've searched the forums, and have not been able to find my specific circumstance addressed. I'm having a problem where I can receive MMS just fine, but I cannot send any MMS from my Galaxy S2 on KE7 with KE4 modem. I'm using AT&T in the USA, and came from an iPhone 3GS. I'm still on the iPhone unlimited data plan (haven't gotten around to switching to a 4G plan yet). MMS always worked just fine on my iPhone, both ways.
When I go to send an MMS, it just keeps trying to send the message forever. I initially see some data activity in the status bar, but it quits after about 5-6 seconds. The message just sits trying to send unless I delete it manually.
Anyone know why this would be occurring? Help is greatly appreciated!

I am having the exact same problem, but I can't even get receiving mms to work. The message comes through but fails to download. I have tried multiple apn settings but nothing works.
Just curious, but are you guys using wifi when trying to send or receive the mms? Data HAS to be on for mms to work, if I'm not mistaken..

I've tried using with WiFi and without...neither one works. Again, I can receive just fine, just not send.
Here I think is your answer.
If you say for example take a picture or video and then within the Camera app try and send either one as a Message, the MMS will fail IF you have the Camera app set to save to Memory Card.
If you change the Camera app to save to phone, then you can take a 8 MP picture and send it as a MMS from the camera app and it will resize and send.
I have mine set to save to memory card, so after you take a pic, you have to go into Gallery and find the picture, then send the exact same 8MP shot as a Message and this time the GS2 will correctly resize and send it.
I'd say its some bug having to do with saving pictures and video to the memory card, but the above way will get you a MMS to send.
Thanks for the info, but I'm pretty sure that's not my problem. I don't even have an external SD card on my phone, and when I go to the Camera options to change storage location, it's greyed out (can't change it), I assume because I have no other option since I don't have an external SD card installed.
Also, when I have tried sending pics via MMS, Handcent will resize the pic, but it still won't send it. BTW, I have tried sending MMS with the stock messaging app, and that doesn't work either...just in case anyone thought it might be Handcent with the problem.
Under Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Network Mode, do you have WCDMA Ony checked, or GSM/WCDMA (Auto Mode) checked?
I found that if I had WCDMA Only checked, I couldn't get MMS messages to work consistently at all.
I have Auto Mode checked.
bump....need MMS to work. help?
check your MMS message center settings. You can access it within the MMS app>menu>settings.
I had this exact same problem when I updated my modem and found out the reason I couldn't send messages because the Message Center phone number was removed.
The correct one for AT&T is +1312349810. Make sure to put the + there.
Edit: NM sounds like your prob is mms only. I have had this problem with my old vibrant galaxy S1 too. The problem was because of the way phone numbers were formatted. For what it's worth I fixed that problem by editing the contact so that their phone numbers are exactly 10 consecutive digits (3 digit area code + the number) without any hyphens or marks ie: 2382819391. No leading 1's, etc. Not sure why it happens but seems to fix it for me.
I haven't had this issue with my SGS2 though.

[SOLVED] Can't Send SMS ICS Passion v12

I'm having an odd issue that I cannot figure out.
I'm running ICS Passion v12 on my T-Mobile Vibrant. I was on stock 2.2, went back to 2.1 with Odin then flashed CWM. I then wiped (data, cache, dalvic) and installed CM7, wiped again and flashed ICS.
Everything on ICS is working except sending SMS. I can place & receive calls, receive texts, but every time I try to send one I get a "Message Not Sent" notification. I don't have a data plan with the phone but do have unlimited SMS. Does this ROM try to push SMS out through data?
Here is what I've tried. Rebooting, power off & battery pull, wipe and reflashing the ICS ROM multiple times, still no luck. I tried to flash CM7 again to see if I can send messages there but the ICS recovery wouldn't take the zip file. Tried to restore stock and it had an error with the boot image.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do?
Update: I entered *#*#4636#*#* in my dialer and went selected Phone Info. Under SMSC it was black. I selected Refresh and am getting a "refresh error" message. Do any of you have something listed there?
Solved Replaced T-Mobile SIM card and I can now send SMS.
Looks like sending picture messages is working, still just having the problems sending SMS.
Are you on simple setting? Go to wireless network and access point and see.

SOLVED
Issue Solved
All I needed was a new T-Mobile SIM card.
Android 2.3 and up uses PDU mode for sending SMS. My old SIM card couldn't handle the upgrade to 4.0.3. It was working on stock because it is only 2.2.
MMS not working
So you were able to send MMS? I upgraded to Passion v12 *BETA* and now I can't send or receive MMS. Everything else works including SMS

Yes MMS always worked, as long as data is turned on. It may be an issue similar to mine where the SIM card is bad. T-mobile just handed me one free and it was a 5 minute phone call to activate it.
Check your APN settings. I had same issue. Google T-Mobile apn settings and compare. This is what mine was missing: MMS Proxy: 261.155.165.050 MMS Port: 8080 Works great now.

Might be a sim card issue. I will try to replace with a new one and then let you know if that was the problem. Thanks!

Alright so it turned out that the MMS app wasn't resizing the photos, so they were being rejected because it was too large. I cropped a photo to test that out and it worked. APN settings are configured too. Anyway, I ended up getting Handcent. Wayyyyy better haha.

Cannot Send/Receive MMS Msg's

Ever since ICS update on my stock note i cannot send any mms messages, any clues?
Everything has worked until now today i just cant send anything, before it worked.
I'm on Bell network.
I know I can't send an MMS if I'm on WiFi for some reason. But as soon as I turn it off it will send.
I tried that as well but it doesn't work, i've also restarted the device few times and no luck, its really weird because it worked fine before and now all of a sudden wont send

Trouble Sending MMS while on Wi-Fi

I recently set my DNA back to stock because I was having this issue with every ROM I tried. I still have the issue on the stock unrooted ROM. When I'm on WiFi I have trouble sending MMS. It seems that most of the time the messages fail, or take extremely long to send. If I turn WiFi off, my MMS will send perfectly fine most of the time. It seems to struggle the most sending group MMS, especially with my Sunday Baseball league with 14 recipients.
The odd thing is it seems to receive MMS just fine. Does anybody else have this issue or know how I might be able to fix it?

[i9300][CM12.1] No MMS download on WiFi, MMS works otherwise

I recently ditched my original Samsung ROM (Android 4.3) and flashed Archidroid 3.1.5 (based on CM12.1) in its place. I'm loving Lollipop 5.1 and have gotten everything working - except for MMS. When I'm away from WiFi, I can send and receive MMS no problem. When on WiFi, I can send MMS but can't download them. I get the text saying there's an item to download, but when I hit the download button it spins for a while then gives up. Needless to say, this didn't happen before I upgraded.
I've checked my APN and have verified that I have the right settings for an unlocked smartphone, according to the AT&T site. Can anyone advise me on how to fix this? I'm already tired of having to turn off WiFi every time I get an MMS.
UPDATE 7/27/16: I've also verified that the AOSP SMS app has the option "Auto-enable data" turned on, which is supposed to momentarily turn on mobile data for MMS messages.
Thanks!
