trying to OC. E:signature verification failed - Motorola Droid RAZR

specs
droid razor maxx

rooted
3.0.8 kernal
ics 4.0.4
version phone if it matters
ok tryed following this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754888
but it didnt work.i moved ziped(and even tryed unziping files).didnt see unzip.ziped files failed with the E:signature thing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFV1P1t9FEI
also tried that.but same deal.cant get anywhere.still saying E:sig verification fail
sooo its certainly something im doing wrong.
both i boot into reboot mode.and try to update from sd
now i searched a few similar threads and i noticed alot of people fixing it by booting into reboot.than using the "update from zip" option
well i dont have that....i only have a few options
reboot
update from sd
flash clean
flash cashe
update from cashe
why do people have more options than me
if you watch that youtube video.when that guy goes into reboot he has like a million options too.
maybe its my rom?
im pretty sure im on a stock one.could this be my issue?

In order to make all those steps you must have a rooted device and a custom recovery i.e BMM; from what you wrote at least you don't have / know how to use a custom recovery
If you have a rooted device and just want to make it easier way to OC/UV just download the tweakerz apk at the end of the 1st post of the thread you took and read it ALL the complete thread to learn what to do the proper way in order to decrease possibilities of messing It bad your device, the hard way is not reading and maybe bricking your phone
Now seriously, I made a thread on another forum but in spanish about what I think is what you're looking for, a short easy tutorial on how to use tweakerz for OC/OV "noobs-proof edition", if you think It could help you let me know and I'll pm you a link to it :good:

[Q] 2.2.1 - complications on downgrade and root.

Phone: LG P500h - ANDROID v 2.2.1 buildnumber FRG83.
Country: Brazil
Anyway, what I know is that i have to downgrade it to 2.2 in order to be able to root. I've looked through a bunch of tutorials on a bunch of websites but there are a few questions i have about the process that isn't answered anywhere i've looked.
Apparently downgrading requires me to get a stock ROM from LG, there is a topic here for that but it does not have the right ROM for my country, i tried a couple codes but they all got me 404.
Can I just flash any standard ROM from, US maybe, will it work?
And if yes, how do I flash it? Apparently you can do that by booting into recovery mode, but to get there you need it to be rooted which I can't do.
I've read about KDZ and downloaded that but... it crashes a lot in my PC (whenever i try the Read Device) it gives me error and closes the program (windows program not responding dialog).
I'm afraid it might crash in the middle of it if i try flashing and that would brick my device.
Is there a simple way to flash a new ROM? Is that the first thing I have to do in order to get a custom ROM say Ubuntdroid? It says I need a new recovery... but for that I need to downgrade first? It's a lot to do... and I don't really get the order in which I should do it all in...
Can somebody post me a little "do this, then do that, then finally do that" so that I can understand it all finally?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for long post, was trying to be as informative as possible.
This shows what happens when I try reading the phone on KDZ... also a little part showing that I got my device to be recognized by windows...
also disabled the LGE modem on device manager, read that if I don't it'll get bricked.
Well it won't let me link the image so... just paste the name together.

1. Find a suitable v2.2 stock ROM for flashing (link)
2. Use KDZ to flash it (I am not aware of another tool capable of doing that). Try doing that on a PC running Windows XP (important - that's where you're stuck now and I guess you're using Windows 7).
3. Root your phone - search for "z4root" on Market, install it.
4. Install Custom recovery, which will replace your current (stock) recovery mode (link - you may need to create an account on another forum in order to download).
5. Using Custom recovery you can now install any custom ROM and create nandroid backups to restore your phone to a certain (working) state.
You will have to use KDZ again if you ever want to flash a stock ROM, also losing the custom recovery. But you will have no reason to do that, except if you need to take your phone to some warranty repairs.
Good luck!
NEW PROBLEM: About step 1... i finally found a way to get my country's rom, but... it's.. the same thats on my device right now, it says V10a_02 and thats the same on my phone (the kdz read phone tells me that) so... won't I just be flashing the same 2.2.1 again?
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500H/ABRABK/V10A_02/V10A_02.kdz <---- the rom the topic tells me to get.
How do I know what version of android is in that rom? and if i can't, can you link me to a rom that does?
I found one from another country that the guy said is 2.2... but... will it work if i flash that one? does it HAVE to be for my country? also my model is p500h (the h) is it different from the p500 (different as in flashing p500 without h roms on it will kill it?)
As for flashing it...
I think maybe a computer with win xp will do the trick for kdz.
i've found this post today:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944881
is it better to use that than kdz? theres no replies on topic saying "hey it worked" so i'm a little worried, but apart from a few errors it seems to work on my win 7....
i guess the reply would be "i only know kdz, do it with kdz" but i thought i might ask...
Indeed, I have not tried that method and therefore I can't recommend it. At least KDZ is successfully tested. If you are patient enough to wait for some replies either here or in that topic, you may find out if it works. I would recommend it only if you have no other choice, like if you're unable to try KDZ on an XP machine.
In the mean time, I remembered that a newer version of Custom recovery is available (v1.2) - here. But you still need to download a file and read the tutorial from that other forum I mentioned in the previous post.
what about the first part of the post? i think i might have added that after you replied i don't know... asking about the rom i found if it isn't the same i have on my phone. and asking if i can just add another country's one...

First backup your data, then download a factory ROM, it doesn't matter which version u download, what matters is the version. Make sure that it's 2.2 and not 2.2.1 or 2.2.2. Follow all the below steps without skippin any, no matter how simple or stupid they are.
Link for shipped ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865479
Now download KDZ updater and uncompress it
http://www.4shared.com/file/UleS4dP3/KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.html
Install msxml.msi from the uncompressed directory
Charge your battery to almost full state (I'm not sure, but it can be reason if phone doesn't start)
Turn phone off somehow (remove battery etc.)
Install drivers properly
Get rid of all usb drivers like Nokia, microsoft visual ++ run time environments
Install the LG drivers by selecting the update manager from the lg site
Disable LGE Virtual Modem. In your Windows operating system, go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Modems > Right click on LGE Virtual Modem and click Disable.
Press and keep pressed "Volume up"+"Return" and connect USB cable to phone
Yellow screen with text emergency mode should appeared
Shake the handset (I know, it sounds ... strange, but it helps for ones, so... why don't try it?) UPDATE: Read some quotes on bottom.
Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe (Has administrator).
Select Type : 3GQCT (I have one report that CDMA mod works too)
Select PhoneMode : DIAG (in case of fail try EMERGENCY, and as last chance use CS_EMERGENCY)
I Recommend do not switch phone off. There was some people, which done it and after they was not be able to turn it on again. If flashing failed, just select some another mode and try it again, again, try shake/connect disconnect, again, again....
In KDZ file : Choose the ROM file you downloaded in the first step
Press Launch software update
Shake the handset (I know, it sounds ... strange, but it helps for ones, so... why don't try it?) UPDATE: Read some quotes on bottom.
Now Root it via Z4root - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
Then install custom recovery - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844483
Then download n flash any ROM of your choice, I wud sugget install Void or LOL.
Edit :- By the time I replied, many have already replied. Anyways you can check my reply too :-D
Mithun.
"it doesn't matter which version u download, what matters is the version."
does that mean it doesn't matter what country or operator the rom is for, as long as it is android version 2.2?
i have one from portugal (not my country) and that one is made for P500 mine is P500H... if that makes a difference i don't know, but i do know that rom is android 2.2. can i flash that one?
i also have one that i got from that topic following the instructions of putting my serial number, it linked me to a rom V10A_02... on KDZ when i try to read my device it says i have V10A_02 too. isn't that the same one i have now? with android 2.2.1? if it is it's very pointless to flash the same rom already in it.
any way to check?
because that is my last doubt ;p

Yes.... you can choose any country. I tried the Australian version. Use the below one http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500/AAUSBK/V10a_00/V10A_00.kdz

As far as my knowledge goes, the LG P500h you have is the same phone as the P500, only branded for Telus. The hardware should be identical, therefore you may use any ROM designed for the P500 family.
The only thing you may miss if you install a ROM not customized for a Brasil (or South America) network operator is the internet acces point name, thus rendering your phone unable to acces the internet trough its data service connection, but only trough WiFi. Nevertheless, the phone's APN can be configured manually, all you need are the correct settings from your mobile operator and you're good to go.
Ok since you guys told me i can go ahead and flash any country ROM i just did and now my device burst into flames and then the flames consumed my apartment.
ok, not. it worked too well actually, i did the kdz procedure on my win 7 anyway, despite the errors when reading device info, and it took like, 1 minute, rebooted, took like 2 minutes on the android screen then it came back, with all my data still there... i thought it didn't do anything but... its now version 2.2
i tried z4root, worked ... got the superuser app and.... i'm happy ^^ thaaaanks!
anyway about the custom recovery thing..
i'm going to install the one in that post you gave me...
but i read something about the best one being clockwork something...
shouldn't i go ahead and install that one?
or can i do everything i need with this one you guys linked?

Glad that it worked Install the Amon_RA's recovery!!! Many ROM's for OO won't support clock work I suppose. Amon RA's recovery is neat, I've been using that from the time I had an HTC tattoo.

You can do anything you need with ThunderG. Now that version 1.2 supports backup and restore of ext4 partitons (a feature you don't need if you don't plan on installing a custom ROM... but you will, eventually ), it is complete.
Moreover, in ClockworkMod's first topic says: "This recovery will not allow you to flash every ZIP file". ThunderG does, if you choose to allow flashing of unsigned zip files. Sometimes this is useful.
Peeeeeerfect
Recovery installed, LOL ROM installed, all fast smooth and error-free.
no more screen touch lag, it's soooooo much faster now, overclocked, i have yet to test my emulators but i can only guess they're gonna be at least 150% better lol.
thank you all very much for taking the time to help me ^^
ONE LAST QUESTION: I PLAN ON BUYING A NEW SD CARD, JUST PLUG IT IN AND IT'LL FORMAT THEN CREATE THE NEEDED FILES THEN I INSTALL STUFF BACK ON IT, SIMPLE AS THAT?
Simple as that =D
Although there are some criteria with the sd card or you'll get unmounting problems.
Use a class 4 or higher card
format with fat32
I've never officially tried this method but its apparently supposed to help
allocation unit size: 64kb when you're formatting

So, how does it goes?!
I´m brazilian too, got a brand new LG Optimus One from ViVo, and a want to know if you´re having any troubles with conections, calls, internet, 3G etc.
OK, id did the flash
I´m afraid that if flash any custom rom, it will break or cause any misfuncition of the 3g service.
Any idea?!
== Updated
Ok, I´ve flashd it with KDZ and the log show´s thats all ok
"14:34:45 : ===FINISHED=== "
BUt its taking like FOREVER to start... almost 30min on android screen. Is this normal?! Should i restart the phone?!
leave it some more time , try shaking it ...
shake trick sometimes helps
Help please..
I did as instructed in the step to step procedures. kdz posted finished but my phone is still at the yellow screen..i did shaking but nothing happens..Is this normal?..SHould i wait..

atrix4

i have a motorola atrix 4g from at&t and i want instal a rom for europe(with option for 2G,and option for data conection),
what rom can i use and instructions?
thanks
Did you search around the forum already?
i found something with csrom, but no instructions for instal
I think you need to do some more searching and reading. And by "some more" I mean "a LOT more".
"Something with csrom"? You could've at least read up about what it even is.
Word of advice: the phone is not your windows PC made for dummies, you don't install things here by simply starting an EXE file and clicking "Next" a few times. If you don't have an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery, it's way too early for you to be looking at ROMs.
However, I want to applaud you for at least opening the thread in the right section. Too many people can't even get that right.
if you want to help me with some real answers is ok,if not please don't post with some like "However, I want to applaud you for at least opening the thread in the right section. Too many people can't even get that right".
thanks
Rom 2g selectable
If you are rooted and have custom recovery flash Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 there is a stable version available for download on there site.

That was the help... Shame you don't realize it. Sorry if you got offended by that, but that was for your own good.
If you get stuck at some point while flashing, I'll be more than glad to offer advice. However, I won't ever serve things for you on a silver plate because you couldn't be bothered to search and read. "Give a man a fish, you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, you'll keep him fed the rest of his life." In other words, you'll get far more benefits from searching and reading and learning on your own than from me serving you numbed down steps and procedures. Especially with this huge amount of threads already explaining everything you could possibly need.
i try to unlock bootloader with puding and rsd lite and now my phone is bricked,
when start the phone on the screen apear:

avalable modes are:
there is 14 mode
and the last line say: curent chioce is mode:rds
starting fastboot protocol support
i don't know what can do to solve that error
the phone have 2.3.6 version
See, this is exactly what I was trying to prevent by telling you to go and read more. But you wouldn't listen. So now you have a brick. Congratulations.
Luckily this should be fixable, but YOU NEED TO READ MORE. After you're done reading, you can try this (use options 3).
thanks, now phone work with same vesion 2.3.6, and is unlocked, now can i instal any custom firmware?
No.
Did you read up like I told you? Doesn't seem like you did.
At the very least, go through the posts in this thread again. I already mentioned what you need to flash.

Ok you used that link, it provided you with an unlocked bootloader. Now with that and cwm installed. You can go to the development thread and download a rom. Persay, http://goo.im/devs/Th3Bill/MIUIus/Atrix/MIUI.us.Olympus_2.9.29_Aroma_Signed_Th3Bill.zip
now install that zip from cwm "recovery". And follow directions. That should give you an idea on how most these newer compiled Roms work. (Newer compiled roms all now have aroma or are like kitchen sink (project).
if you need more help just keep asking questions. Worst you can do is bootloop and flash something else.
Edit: fyi : root is nothing like the bootloader, or cwm. Root is inside the rom, you will find almost every rom HAS root in it.
Now if you flash a rom, before you do that... backup your things as you will loose text, call logs, application data, contacts, etc.
fthanks to all for help.

Uggh!
Does nobody here read what's been said before?!
CWM recovery that comes with the automatic unlocker is TOO OLD. You won't be able to flash any recent ROM using that.
You need to flash a newer recovery. I recommend RomRacer's CWM-based recovery.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Mega & Cyanogenmod Installation

To start off with, I'm just wondering, do you ALWAYS have to enter a CAPTCHA when posting to this forum. That will drive me nuts!
Anyhow, I am looking to install Cyanogenmod on my Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 (GT-I9205) and I haven't been in the business of modding an Android phone in a LONG long while. The videos on YouTube are extremely lackluster in walking you step-by-step if you haven't been in it for a while. I don't just want to install the ROM and call it a day, I want to understand what the process is first, create a full image of my phone first in case anything goes wrong and AFTER that point I want to install a Cyanogenmod.
So, from what little bits and pieces I have gleaned from the Internets, I have come across three main themes when modding.
1. Root
2. ClockworkMod
3. Cyanogenmod
I don't want to brick my phone so I'd like some help in getting started with this.
Please move this thread if it's not in the right spot.
Question 1: As far as rooting your phone, is the process similar on the Android platform as a whole or is there specific steps for each "line" of phones. It feels like rooting is pretty cut-and-dry. I have rooted before, I just don't remember exactly what the most efficient way of doing it was.
Question 2: It seems like installing ClockworkMod requires that you select an option that's specifically for your phone (i.e. picking an option that applies to a differing phone will brick your phone). Am I correct in this assumption.
Question 3: To my understanding from what I've seen, it is recommended that you white your phone and clear the cache (a very good suggestion) when installing a new ROM. Should this be done after you install ClockworkMod? At what point should this be done and what is the correct steps to do this?
I'm a developer & programmer by nature, but this Android stuff really has me feeling unfamiliar so I need everyones help to understand how this beast ticks.

Did you install the latest recovery ( twrp/cwm )? It will only work with the recoveries available in my signature. First flash the recovery using Odin, then flash the ROM zip using recovery.

Yes I used the files in your signature and installed TWRP as follows
- Opened ODIN
- Put Phone into Stock Recovery
- Plugged into comptuer
- Loaded TWRP tar file under PDA in ODIN
- Clicked Start
No errors popped up
To Flash Rom
- Restarted phone and held Volume Up button to load TWRP
- Full Backup before Flashing
- Touched Install
- Selected zip file downloaded from your status
It starts updating and has the following on the screen
"Updating partition details...
Running boot script...
Finished running boot scrip.
Installing '/external_sd/cm-11-20131216-UNOFFICI (text goes off screen at this point)
Checking for MD5 file
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
Verifying zip signature...
E:Zip signature verification failed: 1
Error flashing zip '/external_sd/cm-11-20131216- (Text goes off screen again)
Updating partition details...
Failed (in red letters)"
Then gives me option of Home, Wipe cache/dalvik(which I also tried) or reboot system
Do you have the rom file on your external sd card..if so I would put the rom zip file on the internal sd and see if it works then..unless you have the rom file on your internal sd already..then disregard this..but it should work.

I tried moving to internal SD and then attempted flashing using TWRP v 2.6.3.0 from this thread and got the following

CHecking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found

So I have finally managed to get this installed by basically going back to square one, fresh downloads and fresh factory restore for the 5th time lol and it finally worked. Got a couple questions tho. Is there a way to have the notification LED pulse rotate if theres more than one? like say i get a text and a email waiting for me at same time is there a way to have it switch colours between text and email every 5 seconds or whatever? Also is there a way to make the icons in app drawer smaller?
Not trying to be pushy about getting these added just wanna make sure that its not just a case of ia am missing something
Thanks

Anyway you can help me out I'm stuck like you were. I can't get it to install it says install aborted.

[Q] Samsung Nexus S - problem with flashing

Hello all,
I'm new to rooting and flashing (well, phones at least ) so yes, I am a n00b when it comes to this. I've tried searching the forum but I can't get any further with my problem. If there is a post on this, I hope someone can point me to it and I appologise for unnecessarily starting a new thread.
I have an old Samsung Nexus S which I want to root and flash cyanogenmod on. Since this is the first time I do this I decided to use a step by step guide on nexusshacks.com (there is probably one on this site too, but hey, that's the one I accidentally stumbled upon). The thing is that my device stated, when I started the bootloader (volume up and power): "state unlocked" which is supposed to mean that my device was already rooted. I was surprised; the device is my ex-girlfriend's which got it from one of her friends. Someone might have tampered with it but for the love of the Lord I couldn't figure out whom this could have been. Now, I started the rootchecker app and this said the device was not properly rooted, so I decided to follow the steps on the website mentioned anyways.
At some point during the procedure the programme stated: "device already rooted", which would have been ok since that was my goal anyways, but then the trouble started. I installed rom manager, but when I want to flash clockwordmod recovery it says: "an error occured while flashing your recovery". I tried to "reboot into Recovery" in the app but it just doesn't do anything, it doesn't respond when I tap it.
I also tried to start recovery from the bootloader menu but then I get an android lying dead on it's back with a red triangle hovering over his belly (sad picture, brought me to tears). Now I found out this means that I am in stock recovery (whereas I am supposed to be in clockworkmod recovery, I think) but I don't know what that means or what I am supposed to do next.
Now, what I want to be able to is as simple as it is difficult (for me, that is): flash roms. But I can't back-up my current system and settings so I am a little confused as to what is the best next step: just try to flash a rom anyways (dunno if it will work) or fix the problem with clockworkmod. If it is the latter, I would really like to know how.
Sorry for the long story. I didn't want it to be incomplete (which it still might be, come to think of it...).
Sincerely,
Nie

[Q] Two ROMs trying to load at once?

Hi!
This is my first time ever posting here and although I've found some topics relating to my issue, none have helped me out.
My problem:
I downloaded an app called Flashify.
From the app, I downloaded android 4.4 KitKat because I wanted to update my ROM.
When I booted my phone into recovery (stock <3e>), I clicked on install from SD card, installed the .zip file but I got an error...
It read:
"E:failed to verify whole-signature"
"E:signature verification failed"
"E:update fail and delete temp files"
"formatting /cache..."
Instalation aborted.
Now, if I try to set up my phone again, I'll get as far as the welcome screen and it will always say:
"Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped."
Please help.
I've tryed everything and I can't get rid of that error!
Thank you
Oh by the way, I forgot to give some details
The phone is a Huawei Ascend g330 U8825-1
Android 4.0.4 ICS
Rooted
Running stock everything (or at least it was...)
The file I tryed to install is called: "gapps-kk-20140105-signed-4.4.zip"
Did you even look at a guide on how to update your phone? Actually, I am quite sure you didn't or else you completely misunderstood everything you read. Neither is a good thing when trying to do something complicated like updating your phone unofficially.
1) You can't install a custom rom with stock recovery.
2) You didn't even download a rom - those are the Google Apps that are to be installed along with a custom rom like CyanogenMod.
3) You have to unlock the bootloader to install the custom recovery that will allow you to install updates not signed directly by Huawei.
I suggest you read through this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198908
There are links in the later pages to a version of 4.4.2 from the Modaco forums, as well as links to the original firmware, which you will probably need to re-install if a factory reset doesn't help.

I'm new to all of this and I thought that the app that I downloaded could do it all in one operation.
I wanted to take a chance and see would happen, thinking that any consequences that may occur, could be fixed with a factory reset.
Thanks for the link and the advice.
I'll have a read, now
Is it a serious problem or is there any way to fix it?
I tryed unlocking the Bootloader in DC-Unlocker but to no avail.
