[Q] Kernel flashing - HTC Amaze 4G

Can you flash a kernel over kernel? For an example, I flashed faux kernel v 23 b6 earlier on my current rom , and faux kernel v24 just came out so I was wondering if I could flash this newer kernel over this one?

yes you can.

Always wipe cache and dalvik cache before you flash a kernel.

Then don't use rom manager, flash straight from cwm recovery.

Well yes, but you asked why flash that kernel, and that's why.
Unless you have a version number fetish and want cwmv5!
When I said, works well with cm7, i ment works well with rom manager to install cm7

What I did was flash the codeworkx kernel with Odin (I was using cf root previously) and then flash CM/ from the new clockworkmod recovery I got. I didn0t have any problems, but you have to do a full wipe and I suggest you format \system also.

with cwm and bln and shutdown phone alarm clock

To fix usual lockups and FC's, you have to wipe your Cache partition and wipe your Dalvik cache from CWM Recovery.
For a good kernel, try Ninphetamine, it comes with CWM 4 and BLN support. Also try another great kernel called Void from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357020

I've tried ninphetamine, but bln never worked. I'm happy with this kernel, do if I clear those caches, them problem solved? Or I really need to change my kernel?

I never bother. Just makes the boot longer. I would only do it if you run into issues with an app, and even then I would just clear that app. But to each his own.
Ok. Thank you!
