hello! you can try a very good kernel by a Chinese , it's so wonderful
with cwm and bln and shutdown phone alarm clock
download---http://115.com/file/aqoumjvi#

To fix usual lockups and FC's, you have to wipe your Cache partition and wipe your Dalvik cache from CWM Recovery.
For a good kernel, try Ninphetamine, it comes with CWM 4 and BLN support. Also try another great kernel called Void from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357020

I've tried ninphetamine, but bln never worked. I'm happy with this kernel, do if I clear those caches, them problem solved? Or I really need to change my kernel?

Hello good day.
I would like to clarify if its ok to flash example ninephetamine kernel to speedmod kernel.
Im using exynos 3.4 gold master rom with ninephetamine kernel. Is it ok to flash my phone with speedmod or shoud i need to perform wipe data/cache and wipe dalvik cache before i can flash the speedmod.
Thank you for your reply.
Just flash the kernel on top, no need to wipe anything

what i suppose is that there is a conflict between the rom and the kernel, what i would suggest you do is install a different kernel, like siyah or N.E.A.K
try this first tho
1) go into mount and storage then format system
2) get the latest siyah on ur SD card and flash it from recovery
3) try reinstalling hydra
coming to my house proves it. but yesterday I did that but left with a semibrinck ... I am not sure why that was. thank you very much for the answer

You're device is fine. I have the same thing and I've flashed hundreds of times. You just have to know what you're flashing and understand the basics

I am familiar with flashing. I had the LG Optimus LTE before this and flashed quite a few roms, This phone however has me awfully confused. I have been researching all day. And so far i am under the understanding that the touch cwm are not good and the use the 4.0.1.5 recovery. But what i don't understand is how do you install roms without wiping data/factory reset through cwm? don't most roms require this? and isn't that what causes the superbrick? Sorry for sounding like a noob. but can you tell me how you do your flashing?

Just use a different kernel, like siyah (www.gokhanmoral.com and make it's for the s2 not s3). Then you can wipe data. Just didn't not be on 4.0.4, and have a samsung based kernel (the kernel dev should have info in the op). Once you're on a safe kernel you can flash whatever you want and wipe data.

Yeah, you should be able to flash through Odin. And you can flash back to stock by getting a stock firmware from www.sammobile.com and flash through Odin

Yes I wiped data, cache and dalvik cache. Couldn't get into recovery so i just re-flashed my firmware via odin. All is good now and successfully flashed cm9 with no issues. Must have been a bug in the rom.
I have a rooted galaxy s2. I have Cm9 + gapps installed with stock Cm9 kernel!
I want to overclock, and I saw the siyah v4.1.2..
I read a lot of forums but I wanna to be a save as possible, and now I am here
My question is!
1. Is it possible to flash this kernel treu cwm?
2. Does the kernel support Cm9 and my galaxy s2 i9100?
3 how to flash is? ( clean dalvic and some other thing, then just install the zip file treu cwm? Is this right?)
4 are there any known problems with this kernel? (working on cm9)
5 what are the risk?
6 last but not least: can I now overclock with siyah v4.1.2. Yes? How much? .
Irrelevant..........
The first time I saw cm9 I thought omg I want to have it. Almost I year later, I found my balls again! I read every post every step and finally I got it rooted ( with Odin insecure kernel that matched mine!) I thought this is the beginning of cm9 "jeej". Then I saw my third ball rolling over the floor! So I downloaded cm9 + gapps put is on my internel sd. First I did wipe data dalvic and all that for 2 times! Then flashed cm9 then gapps! I rebooted and "jeej" I got cm9! I think I got it now for uhm 3 days or so. But there is one last thing I wanna do and then the Storry is compleet. I wanna overclock. I know how to flash but I need to be 99,9% sure (1% you can always **** up) how to do it!
Normally I am not someone who post but read.
Thx in advance

1. Yes, you can flash it via CWM recovery. You must however download the zip format of the kernel.
2. Siyah kernel supports CM9 and GT I9100
3. -boot to CWM recovery
-wipe cache partition
-wipe dalvik cache
-flash kernel
-reboot phone
4. You have to test this yourself, many people here on XDA, are using this kernel with CM9. If you eventually don't like the kernel, you can flash another one.
5. If you follow institutions, there are no risks at all.
6. Siyah kernel supports overclocking up to 1.6GHZ (please check Siyah thread to confirm this).
After flashing Siyah kernel,
- Download EXTWEAKS from playstore.
- this is the official tweak app for Siyah kernel and You can overclock with it.

Sorry, one more question....
I got the app extweak. And I overclock cpu and gpu but system freezes!
When I rebooted, the settings were still very high.
Question: is it possible that when system reboots, that the default settings return? (in extweak)

in case you face problems/bootloops, after using extweaks (wrongly), try this:
-boot to CWM recovery
-kernel specific options
-reset extweaks profile
-remove all files from init.d folder
-reboot phone
Done.

If you are taking about Siyah, then do this, when flashing new version:

There are two ways:
1. The method above (in my previous post)
2. Download kernel cleaning script here: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363738
Kernel cleaning script, cleans all the trace of your previous kernel before flashing the new one
-boot to CWM recovery
-flash kernel cleaning script
-flash new kernel
-reboot phone
Note: if your kernel doesn't support extweaks, then you have to uninstall extweaks just before/after flashing the new kernel.

In my experience you can flash a new version of the kernel without wiping anything unless the release notes say otherwise.
In fact the same is generally true of new versions of a ROM (including CM9). The same is not true of different ROMs however, where it's usually recommended to wipe the cache partition, Dalvik cache and all data to avoid boot loops and crashes.

Safest, clean method of flashing anything, ensures best stability & performance with new ROM/kernel
For example, From CM9 instruction page:
Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 9:
- Copy CM9 ZIP to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9 zip
- Wipe cache partition and dalvik-cache
- Reboot

I never bother. Just makes the boot longer. I would only do it if you run into issues with an app, and even then I would just clear that app. But to each his own.
Ok. Thank you!
