I joined the Dark side.. - HTC Rezound

Well, Ive had my rezound for about 6months now, and well it was time for a upgrade, I wanted something smaller, I knew i was going to have to sacrifice the big screen I loved and amazing camera.. or was I? after some research I found a evil little underdog going by the name of "Motorola Droid Razr M" don't let the appearance of this dastardly little fellow fool you, Its screen, the same exact size as the rezzy, camera, the same!.. but thats where it ends, hardware... leaps ahead, scratch resistant gorilla glass covers the super amoled display, surrounded by a all aluminum frame, with REAL KEVLAR backing, you can use this phone to stop bullets and it has the speed to do it! with a Snapdragon S4 CPU featuring an Adreno 225 GPU and 1gig of ram i was able to get a quadrant score of 5600 OUT OF THE BOX! don't worry about the phone dying with heavy use I'm still left with 50% battery at the end of the day, and i mean heavy use, this phone is perfect, the size of a iphone, with more sex appeal and a bigger screen. I'm very happy with my purchase oh and guys CM10 IS AMAZING BTW! since the phone keeps much of the aosp stock its easy to port the single dev working on it has everything but android beam working!, oh and on screen system keys are no hassle playing games there's apps to hide them and use gestures instead, sleekness at its best! i really love this phone!

Okay, I cannot be the only person who sees this thread title and expected a post about how you got an iPhone.
But other than that, uh, congrats I guess.

Thank you! no the iphone is dead, it was dead when the first droid was released, all hail droid.

Test this and share your findings !:good:

Enjoy it. I owned it for a day. I found my rezound to be better in the areas that mean more. The camera is atrocious. But it was a fast device and very manageable. I even bought a tpu and screen protector and sold it before they got here so I need to post that stuff for sale.

Was thinking about picking one of these up from craigslist because Im a little bored with the rez....just wanted something different.

The one I had was updated to jellybean but it didn't get very good service in my wife's area and camera made me move on. The rest of the device was great

I thought you were going to say i bought an iphone...

I thought iPhone as well. I have the iPhone 5 and HTC Rezound. I constantly switch between the two and love them. :good:

My brother just picked up a rez with a tiny screen crack below the buttons for $40. Lucky SOB.

Nice phone, crap screen
Motorola always use some not perfect displays (pentile/low-ppi/amoled)
I love my Rezound for high quality screen

Holy thread revival batman.

Great choice here I think this phone just recently got it's official JB release too. The screen probably isn't as nice but coupled in with that battery and you're in for a long ride. Can't wait til we get our release or rather a more stable port.

[Q] Need some help deciding if I should buy the RAZR

My contract was up in July but until now there haven't been any phones worth buying. Now the RAZR is out and the Nexus is coming. My phone is literally falling apart and doesn't charge anymore, I have to the wife's phone to charge my battery.
I went and looked at the RAZR and I was really impressed. I liked it a lot but I'm still not sure I want it more than the Nexus.
Do any of you guys have buyers remorse? Do you wish you had held out for the nexus? Originally I thought the nexus would be out by now and I would simply be able to compare the two devices, but now its not clear if the Nexus will be out before december and I really don't think my phone will make it that long.

You can buy it now (Nov. 15th-Dec. 28th) and be able to return it until Jan. 9th. If the Galaxy Nexus comes out by then, I'm probably going to return the Razr because of the Super AMOLED HD screen and Ice Cream Sandwich. Gonna miss the build quality though, Samsung and their plastic, lol.
I would never go back to a Samsung again, ever, if at all possible. Had the fascinate & had so many missed call issues that vzw gave me the Droid x2 as a free upgrade only 9mos into my contract w/o interfering with my last yearly upgrade eligibility. The x2 has been flawless & the only reason I cashed in my upgrade was because my wife's Dinc crapped out & she loved my x2, so she has that now & I have the Razr & everyone's happy.
Seriously though, if you are in any type of marginal signal area & you need your phone to be a phone, I'd go Razr.

No regrets here. Really like the phone.

Went from BB to Fascinate to ThunderBolt to Razr. I really like the weight and thin ness of the Razr. I prefer the size of the Fascinate as it is overall smaller but thicker.
No remorse, love the phone.
Totally loving this phone, had it yesterday. I have nothing really as a downside, had an Xperia X10 before so I feel like this phone is way more snappy and quick than the other! I chose it because I have no idea when the Galaxy Nexus will come to Canada and we get the candies always late lol. Now once it's in Canada, I have to wait for Rogers to get it.. so probably the Ice Cream Sandwich update will be out at this time for the RAZR. Totally not regretting my choice!
Came from Droid X to Razr, I would never look back. I just rooted it with zero issues! No citation roms yet but that's ok, this phone is crazy fast and so thin! Yes, battery life is not great but hey, its 4G LTE!

so far the only thing holding me back from buying the razr is the screen. I want to know how it compares to other screens, especially the new HTC <stupid name I can't remember but has something to do with audio>. I heard HTC has a very impressive screen.
compared to the other current phone , razr's screen can't really compete in terms of ppi.
What I want to know is if this is really something I would notice or should care about?

You mean HTC ReZound??
Yea, this is the highest DPI out in the market. BUT, HTC is infamous for giving a very high dpi with an equally bad battery life... the HTC Desire (or was it Desire HD?) needs to be charged at least twice a day...no matter what others say, thats bad...

The reviews of the Rezound for the "HD" screen states theres not much difference between its screen and the RAZRs screen. Also its like 13.7 mm thick, so it's your choice on what you want to do.
well, i regret buying the razr because for some reason my razr has the green tint problem on low brightness, and black spots inside the screen when viewing something black, maybe a defective screen or a pre-release model, but sent it in to motorola to check it out, but other than that, if it was a pre-release, its a perfect phone.
as far as the ppi goes, its more than anyone needs, honestly, the only ppl who care about ppi vs ppi are spec whores, this phone is great and gives ppl the ;'wow'factor, and makes the iphone4s boys go jealous =p
CanI ask why screen res and ppi is really that important? Movies and games look perfect to me on the gaint razr screen and crappy on the tiny retina iphone screen.

Coming from an Atrix 4G, no regrets. This is super fast, thin, stylish, strong and yet feels like a feather.
Looked at a Rezound next to my Razr at a vzw store yesterday & I feel totally vindicated for buying the Razr. The difference in ppi was not immediately noticeable under normal lighting & text looked fine on both. The color reproduction on the Razr's amoled screen was better & it was brighter overall @ low brightness. What got me was how much snappier the Razr seemed. Ran smartbench 2011 on each & the Razr scored better as well. The Rezound looks like a bigger Incredible2 & doesn't have the heft of the Tbolt or Evo.

Your screen shouldn't have a green tint, I'd look into getting a replacement. AS for the black "blotches" during load screens and some black screens that has been confirmed as "normal" per motorola. They stated it will not get in the way of your viewing pleasure. I've only had the black blotches on like scene changes in some netflix movies/load screens. So really it's not a big deal at all, as it doesn't interfere with anything. If you see it all the time, then it just reaffirms that you have a defective screen.

Rezound benches lower than RAZR on pretty much every test. Even in everyday performance RAZR > Rezound. Rezound gets choppy/laggy with live wallpaper, slapped some on my RAZR and no choppiness at all. I guess that's why they added the $100 headphones with it! To make up for the poor performance in todays smartphone market.
How is the thickness from left to right of the screen? Is it as hard to hold as some of the reviews are saying? Do any of you have a case on it, I would think that would make it even wider.
It is pretty wide. I just got mine today. Thought I'd try it out, see how development progresses for the first month or so, and see how the Nexus pans out in real life. The Verizon extended return period really helps.
But, like I was saying, it's pretty wide. I have a case on it - the kickstand case/holster combo from vzw - because I want it to be in good shape if I decide to return. It's slightly wider with the case, but even naked, I have a hard time reaching down to the menu button. That's the one that seems to be hardest to me. Other than that one button, it feels good in the hand and I can touch the rest of the screen.
Thanks, I always need a somewhat thick case on my phone so I don't think the Razr will work for me. Appreciate the feedback. I'll probably end up going with the nexus even though it is a fairly wide phone it self...
Just got mine, it is wide, if you have McD's hands then yea you will have a hard time, even though I got Burger King hands this phone took a lil to get used too. Once you hold this phone you don't want to put it down. My wifes ryme feels like a brick compared to this machine, in fact every phone feels heavy. Was waiting for the G-Nex but really happy with the Razr. One bug found so far, nothing major. This thing is FAST!!! Waiting to root, but even w/o root it's still fast. Motorola did a good job with this one.

ATRIX user opinions

Hey guys ! I own a HTC EVO 3D right now, but I'm going to switch it for an ATRIX 4G tomorrow.
I want to ask you... How do you feel about the ATRIX's screen? I know it's a TFT LCD with the RGBW matrix, which is what makes my brain twist and say "OH SH*T NO". What's your say on that?
Also... voice quality... Is it loud & clear enough? I mean, compared to other phones you might have owned...
And the camera?
-----
And... most of all... the chipset?! How is it going for you?! I hear it is actually less performant & more power-hungry than Qualcomm's dual core, but I don't really know...
awh its a great phone......but stock gb rom sucks. u wud love it if you are a social networking fan!! for me im pretty happy with my cm flavored atrix. the chip is good, camera is okay.....and about sound i dont give huge scores! display hmmm u shud love it!!

This whole weekend I've been going back and forth, deciding to trade it for an ATRIX, then changing my mind and returning to HTC... Now I was sure I was gonna make the switch, but here I go again, returning to HTC.
The ATRIX's screen is TFT, as opposed to HTC's S-LCD, and that wouldn't be THAT MUCH of a problem if it didn't had the RGBW matrix... I read a lot on the phone, and that would just ruin my experience, probably making me feel the urge to blend the phone or something.
I think I'll stick to HTC... If only Motorola were to use standard RGB...
good luck

as you are concerned about the screen, maybe i can help a little. first off, i have really great eyesight, pentile matrix displays make me want to hurt people, but its not all bad. the qHD resolution makes the subpixles much harder to see, i personally can only see them when its about a foot or closer to my face, some colors i can see it farther away, such as green, i can see some distortion about a foot and a half away form my face. but its very hard to see, its a HUGE difference form say, a captivates pentile screen.
next thing to keep in mind is the colors. yellow is a big complaint, i dont notice it to much but the colors are far from perfect, i feel the screen is a hair cold by default, and there are ways to reduce the blue if you are rooted, i did a guide on it a while ago.
last thing is gradients, they look bad, that is the only thing i really am disappointed with, you can see artifacting as the colors shift, although i dont know if im crazy but it seems better then before.
keep in mind that all of these things you will get use to with a little time, i got use to them quickly and i am a stickler for screen quality. one of the goods of the screen though is the battery life, the type of display saves a ton of juice thus making one of the longest lasting phones of its time. now that, I love.
im not trying to bash my own phone here, i love it, and always will, its an amazing device and was everything i wanted when i got it. the screen is something i can live with, and the the battery life plus the higher resolution makes up for it in my book.
let me know if there is anything else you want to know, hope i was a little helpful.

I do a lot of reading on my phone, and having that screen would kill me... Plus the gradients thing... I noticed it in a 480p YouTube video, ffs, lol.
The battery is all nice, the chipset seems good enough, but even though the screen is all bright in the sun, its downs are making me wanna throw rocks at it, lol.

It's hard for me to answer this.
I loved the EVO 3D. The back design made it attractive, and the overall body... it was nice, alright. Also, the big screen was neat.
There were a few things that made me change the phone. The screen was somewhat yellowish (had to use Filter Your Screen to add a blue alpha so it would not be so yellowish on white menus and so brownish on gray menus - but that still didn't fix it 100%). The earpiece was creaky, and so was the loudspeaker on maximum volume...
I wanted the ATRIX for it has a bigger battery, a decent chipset, and a more robust design. I mean... the body is more compact - feels better in the hand, more secure, I'd say. Besides, on this phone I no longer feel the urge to smash it on the wall for yellow whites or creaky voices in-calls.
Also, the screen is just AMAZING. Even though it's a TFT, and it's got PenTile, I find it really nice. The whites are PURE WHITE. The blacks are BLACK!!! Also, if you know that ICS wallpaper... it really looks better on the ATRIX. The colors were somewhat washed on the EVO 3D - proof that S-LCD still needed work. To be honest, I think this TFT screen can be compared to the Samsung Galaxy S's SUPER AMOLED.
Even if I turn down the screen's brightness to the minimum, the whites still blind me during night time, especially if I hold the phone somewhat close to my face. On full brightness, in the sunlight, it ROCKS !!!
The only thing I wished for is some aluminium on the body. It's all plasticky... good thing I have an iCase Pro (MOMAX) case, otherwise... I wouldn't really like it .

Don't get me wrong... MY phone was a bad unit - about the yellowish screen. Another friend had the 3VO and it was white, but compared to my ATRIX now, the ATRIX is white and his 3VO yellow.
The creaking earpiece was also a problem that occured later - I believe some water got in, idk.
The EVO 3D is a great phone.

Nice Review. The atrix is a BEAST especially when throwing Neutrino behind it!
I came from a iPhone 4 to the Atrix a few months ago and it has it's ups and downs. My only real gripe of any consequence is the battery life. It isnt terrible, but you have to do a little tweaking (at least with CM7, I found so). I've been playing with ICS on it and so far have noticed a slight improvement in that arena. Plus ICS feels like a much nicer UI overall.
I love the size of the screen on, and I personally have found no problem with it. My main use for the phone (other than calls) is web browsing and reading using the Kindle and nook, and aldiko book readers.
And music playback of course. I have one playlist or another going most of the time if I am not talking to someone (desk job, might as well get my tune on).
My headphone jack failed a month or so after I bought the phone (used, off ebay), and while it was at Motorola getting fixed (warranty job, only paid shipping to them) I was back on my I4 for a couple weeks and I felt a lot better getting the Atrix back, and not just for Android. You just get addicted to the larger screen so easy.
My secondary gripe of any matter is the placement of the power button. Just feels very awkward to use 1 handed. But I added a wake on volume mod instead, and that problem was solved.

I hate the iPhone. Overpriced, tiny 3.5 incher... Besides, Android is much better. Otherwise I would have gotten an iPhone...
If the EVO 3D unit I had didn't had those few things that I didn't like about (malfunctions, that is), I would've sticked to it. Just letting ya know. I consider the EVO 3D above the ATRIX (in some aspects, at leasts).
But compared to the iPhone 4S... The ATRIX wins big time. Bigger battery, better CPU, bigger RAM, better/nicer OS, bigger screen... The only thing I'm concerned about is the GPU. I know it's an 8-core UltraLowPower processor, but... does it really perform as good as/better than the PowerVR's or Adreno's?! I, for one, would say no but that might be some driver-related issue, which should/might be fixed when the official ICS drops...
Im glad you liked the Atrix. Its a pretty dam nice phone, im im love with it. Very fast and smooth. qHD screens are awesome. Great battery life. Feels very nice on my hand. Nice design, IMO. Welcome to the atrix family.

Ouch, gonna have to disagree there. Nothing really beats iPhones os, its sooo simple and easy to use. Best thing about it is that they DONT need quad core, even my ipad2 runs perfect with gaming. The OS is so perfectly optimized that even with my wife's 3gs, there are only a few hiccups. The one thing that I will agree with is the 3.5 inch screen. That's too small. Imagine a 4.3 inch with that retina display....mmmm......
But these are all personal opinions, and no one will ever agree.

Got to play with a ONE XL last night

It was amazing. Screen size was just right. 45% battery was 1:45 screen time on LTE. Comparatively, the rezound sucks. It is so thin and light. I can't believe how good it is. Makes me hate the Rezound now.

really? i played with my friends htc one s on tmobile and it made me love the rezound even more. My sense 4.0 was just as smooth as his stock sense 4.0. Verizon 4G keeps 4G inside for me all the time and his dropped to 2G and was slow. Everything it can do rezound can do with exception of shoot video and take photo at same time but everything else is the same. Rezound was just as fast too. And the weight difference is a little bit but you cant remove your battery on the one s so that isnt a good thing for me. I was very impressed by rezound vs a brand new device
We have bright screens.

The One X is way better than the One S. It made me hate my Rezound lol. That great battery life on LTE with the screen on was amazing. Their screen was so much more vibrant to be honest.

I can see the screen difference. Its a better screen. But I love being able to swap batteries. Until htc makes a device like the razr maxx, just can't have nonremovable.
Though, come this winter if verizon gets a killer wp8 device with lte, might jump back over there.
It's not that much better than the rezound to make me want to switch. I'm fine with the rezound for now.

I've played with whichever One that AT&T has (my mother got it and has no idea how to use it) and I think it's way too thin and I didn't like how you can't change the battery and how the flash works. If the XL has a battery and a removable flash like the rezound, it might be better. It was too big and thin for me, I thought id break it easily.
Lighter does not equal better. I like weight because it means better build quality (in most cases.). Not having a changeable battery is another downside.

No offense, but in 6 months, there will just be another phone that blows the doors off the One X. 6 months ago, that best phone was arguably the Rezound. The point is, there will always be another better device right around the corner, waiting for your envy to get the better of you so it can steal your money. I am not saying I don't agree with your assessment of that device... it is an extremely nice phone. But, it did not in any way make me think my Rezound sucks.
For now, rezound is ok, not the best but still great.
After I flashed your ConRom V4, everything works well.
The only bad thing on rezound for me is the thickness and heavy.
Other than that, rezound is still best for me.
GS3 looks awesome, sometimes wanna switch to it, but screen on rezound is better than GS3's pentile.
I might switch my rezound to other phone when next generation of S4 comes out.
Oh, I might say Thank you Con for your flawless rom, since I cannot leave reply on dev section

I like the heft of the Rezound too, just some psychological trick though. The physicist in me just screamed out that more mass means more energy...the phone gets jolted all the harder during a drop because of it.
Extra weight is generally bad and is just stored potential to mess your tech up, I wish mainstream reviews would explain that scientific point when it comes to devices: weight is a detriment to overall build quality, not a benefit at all.
That said, the Rezound is a tank lol, I've dropped without cases and it survived many a time. Screen cracked only on a direct fall, pancake style.

so a million things wrong with that, but then i'm like, she really thinks that because it's THINNER means it'll break easier? are people dumb? lol
but yeah, the rezound always had a nice feel in the hand, hence why i bought it over the razr

EVO 4G LTE Impressions

Hey guys.
Some of you may know me from the Evo 3D section. Recently, my 3D's touchscreen started to fail on me (a known quality-control issue) and I evaluated my options on repairing it and came to the conclusion a new phone is a better investment.
I've been researching the living crap out of the Galaxy Nexus and the 4G LTE (The GS3 is waaaay outside my price point). It seems more and more likely that the 4G LTE is simply a better phone.
So now, this thread. Before I pull the trigger, I want the scoop on this phone from the only users I trust; XDA users. Tell me what you love about this phone, what you hate, what to watch out for, whether or not you regret it, anything. As much detail as possible, please
This phone will genuinely have to last me two years (buying it off contract). I need to know that I can count on this in the same way I was able to count on my HTC Hero (which I feel was more dependable than the Evo 3D).
Thanks guys. I look forward to possibly joining you in this forum in the future.
What's up man?! Go ahead and pull the trigger is what I say. I didn't consider it that huge of an upgrade personally but I figured id try it out for 14 days and return then try the GS3 then make my decision. I ended up keeping it and deciding to do so very quickly.Lol. Very 1st thing that got me was the thinness and how great it felt holding.....it felt really nice....and the screen is ike candy for your eyes. My experience with sense 4 and the speed made me question the need to root (blasphemy I know) but I did anyway. I love the camera software and the phone charges fast and really last....the sleeping is incredible. I live everything about it except the shiney black top....other than that in my opion its the best Evo ever and top phone now.

After my first experience with the EVO 3D (3 lemons in under a month), I thought I'd never own an HTC phone again. I went as far as saying I'd never piss on an HTC phone if it was on fire. This phone is making me eat those words. I don't even know why I gave them another chance but I'm glad I did. I wanted a great screen, fast processor, and a relatively "future proofed" phone and this totally fit the bill. It was between this and the Gnex but with the connectivity problems, notoriously weak antennae and glacial charging I rolled the dice on the EVO.
I'm really digging the snappiness overall, running Nova launcher and MeanICS 0.5 ROM. The screen is gorgeous, especially coming from a Photon, and the camera is just about neck and neck with my 4S (work phone). I've been shooting with it for about a week and love love love the pictures it takes.
The only thing I don't like is the car dock has a really finicky usb connector and no sound comes through said connector making it a real bummer when I want to use the phone as an aux music source.
With ROM floodgates starting to open, I heartily endorse this phone to anyone who is in the market. Even stock with Nova launcher works really well, I'm not a fan of Sense but I will admit it was way better than what came stock in the Evo 3D.
Omg we need a Liquid Rom in here! I haven't ran something from you since the HREO CDMA days! Your Sense Rom was the best!

I sold my preordered Evo for a pretty penny and bought a Galaxy Nexus for dirt cheap. While the Nexus was good, the battery made it just OK. It just wouldn't last. The screen was nice but put it next to the Evo and nice becomes wtf. The Evo comes with a microSD slot for my 64GB card (huge plus). The battery in the Evo lasts a whole day a whole night and in to the next afternoon. With heavy use, I mean playing with it constantly from games to web to calls it easily can last 12-15 hours. That right there sold me. I had the option for the GS3 as well. I was really thinking I would switch, considering I had the Epic and the Epic Touch. I.couldn't bring.myself.to return it. Too GREAT of a phone. Plus the kickstand is great. I watch a lot of Netflix while waiting for freight. There isn't a single con and a long list of pros. BUY IT!

Ah, someone who understands the build quality woes of the Evo 3D. In the short year I've owned it, the screen plate near the cap buttons has "sunk" down into the shell, the battery cover has become lose, the outer 'lining' is coming off, and the power button and volume buttons are almost hilariously mushy (never know if they're working).
I'm sorely searching for the build quality of HTC that I used to know, from the days of the Hero all the way back to the original Titan and Apache (those things were amazing). It seems you feel that they've recaptured this "Evo" namesake.

How's the screen at repelling fingerprints? I know that it's supposed to come with an oleo-phobic coating, but do you think it would be worth getting a screen protector?
Great phone; buy it! :good:
What's up liquid I think you should go ahead and get it there's nothing better at this point and to build quality is nothing like the evo 3d. My only issue is the lack of multitasking it reloads tabs almost..but I've heard that has been fixed on the hox...great device..makes the 3d look like a fat pig

Also coming from the 3D, I decided to pull the trigger on this phone earlier this month.
Personal pros: Size, feel, battery life
Cons: Wifi/3G dropout, multitasking (primarily Sense reload)
I rooted immediately, switched to Apex Launcher, and tested a few custom ROMS.
Temp bricked it yesterday w/ the S-OFF method, and returned it to BB to swap out in hopes that it would fix the Wifi/3G dropouts. Wifi seems to be better, 3G dropouts still exist, so I'd imagine it'll be a radio/firmware fix in the future. I'd also imagine the aggressive and clumsy multitasking will also be resolved when source is released from HTC and we can get some custom kernels.
SG3 is released for the public on 7/1 @ BB, so I'll go back to play around w/ it a little bit before my 30 day window of opp. is closed. All in all, I'm leaning towards keeping the LTEvo due to the development community and overall feel of the phone.
Lastly, I was going to go right back and root after getting phone #2, but simply installing Apex over stock everything hasn't been bad. I think until source is released, I can deal with holding off on root. The apps I rely on work w/o root, FoxFi works w/o root (even though pointless w/ slow 3G data, but hey..), and honestly, until we can start overclocking, undervolting, etc., the only true benefit w/ root access is being able to F w/ the build.prop for GW purposes, density, and whatever. Not enough of a factor IMO to root just yet, though the ROMS available right now are promising!
Verdict: Go for the LTEvo. Enjoyed your work during the Hero days as well!
For the screen, the fingerprints have been less of an issue than my tbolt, but they are still there. I thought the screen really was "scratch proof" until I had it in a bag with my keys and I saw a little scratch right in the effing MIDDLE of the screen! Needless to say, I ordered a matte screen protector and will see if it kills the awesome-ness of how the screen looks and displays.
I honestly cannot agree more with what has already been said about this awesome phone. After coming from my tbolt with a rezound battery (i still use it to this day) and it's crappy battery life to this phone has totally restored my confidence in using smartphones. Instead of thinking "if i play this emulator or watch this video, I'll have to charge it again", I say "I will play this emulator or watch this video and not care because the battery WILL last". I know I sound crazy here, but the battery really is that good. In fact, it's that reason that I haven't rooted and put on a custom ROM because I'm afraid something will happen.
Performance wise, it is just plain sick. It runs the PSXEmulator tons smoother than my TBolt and sense is just awesome. I would consider rooting just for the dual-core mod where the second cpu is always running except for when the screen is off, but again, bye-bye insane battery life (please correct me if I'm wrong).
Physical feel of phone is sweet; the thinness is good and the material is nice; except for that bloody top back shiny cover that drives us OCD guys nuts with fingerprints :O But I did order a case because I'm afraid if I drop it, it will go bye-bye.
I researched heavily this phone and the galaxy nexus and from what I could tell, the nexus didn't have the same power as this phone and because of that, people complained that it ran slower than it should. Also the battery was only so-so.
I have yet to look back and do not regret the money I spent

I read that this was due to aggressive minfree values to keep Sense running smooth. Custom ROMs have already tweaked it, but I actually see this as a plus. I've always used extremely (read: ludicrous) aggressive minfree and OOM values, because I damn near never multitask, I only ever do one thing at a time.

My 3D would always kill itself trying to find signal where I live. I'm hoping that won't be an issue with the LTE.
Amazon has some great prices on this phone in and out of contract.

I'm running the nocturnal Rom and it has the dual core going but honestly I haven't noticed a difference. ....you should check it out.....it's been the smoothest for me so far

I dont mind the killing of apps as much as I do the tabs in the web browser..sometimes esp. With online banking I run into issues..it happens pretty much instantly..I've adjusted my min free settings as well as flashed about every rom besides aosp and my phone still kills apps like that's its job..I would just like the option to adjust it or have it ignore my web browser as I'm pretty good about closing things out..buts that's my only issue and it will be fixed..the build is bar none and battery is sick..camera is on par with top cell phone cameras and the UI in the camera app is best in class..i never miss a shot ..it will be good to see u in here liquid..to defend against the trolls and fanboys LOL

Switching from the Rezound to Droid RAZR m. Pros and Cons

First off, I've enjoyed using the Rezound, it's a good phone. But after a year, I've gotten tired of it's inadequate battery life and bulkiness.
The Droid RAZR m seemed like a phone I would like.
Battery Life: I have the extended battery for the Rezound, which is rated at 2750mAh. The Droid RAZR m's battery is rated at 2050mAh. The Rezound had the bigger battery, but in real life use, the RAZR m lasted longer. I could easily get 3.5 hours of "Screen On" time on the RAZR m, while I'd be lucky to get 2.5 hours of screen on time with the Rezound. This is probably due to the less pixel dense screen of the RAZR m and it's more efficient S4 processor.
Physical Size: The RAZR m feels much smaller. Feels like it's 2/3 the size of the Rezound. It also feels much lighter. It feels like 4" screen phone. It's hard to imagine that the RAZR m and the Rezound have the same screen size. Even seeing both side by side, it's hard to believe. You'd have put them right next to each other and look closely. The RAZR m is much easier for my small hands to use.
Speed: The RAZR m with the S4 processor is noticeably faster than the Rezound with the S3 processor. Both are rated at 1.5GHz and have 1GB RAM, but with the RAZR m, there is no lag what so ever. Everything is buttery smooth. The Rezound is definitely fast once it gets going, but does feel laggy at certain points.
What I'll miss from the Rezound:
The beautiful HD screen: Watching videos and surfing the web on the Rezound was a much better visual experience. With the Rezound, I could shrink text size and still read it, on the RAZR m, forgetaboutit. Viewing the qHD resolution on the RAZR m is like viewing my old Incredible's 480x800 screen, which is decent, but not great.
Sound quality: Both phones are loud enough, but the Rezound easily sounds better.
Sense: I still think that Sense is the best looking android skin. I'd even say it looks better than iOS. The skin on the RAZR m is basically AOSP Android with some slight theming.
In the end, the RAZR m won me over with it's great battery life, speed, and size.
I'm still keeping my Rezound as a backup because it's still a good phone.
So good bye for now.
My wife has a Razr m. It's a really nice phone it's very fast very smooth and I hate to say it it's better than the Rezound except the screen. The UI is pretty close to vanilla the speakers really good on it I just don't like the nonremovable battery. The screen is very crisp but it's very pixelated and battery life is really good too

I thought the non-removable battery would bother me too, but TBH, I hardly ever switched batteries on the fly with my previous phones. It was a hassle to me, to have to carry the extra battery and doing the switch. I'm a moderate to heavy user, and the RAZR m can make through my usual day. I'll probably use it even more on the weekends, and this coming weekend is the first weekend I'll have it, so I'll see if it passes the test.
I have an s off rezound. I bought my wife a razr m and she had a Nexus previously. She hated the razr m. It got worse signal than her nexus, the camera was terrible. I liked the size. It is fast. I compared it to my rezound and while the m may have an s4... It was utterly inferior imo to my rezound. The camera was terrible. I take many pics. My old razr maxx had a much better camera. Inside pics were terrible. I hope your experience is different. I sold it after 1 day of ownership and it was upgraded to jellybean. She now has a gs3. I couldn't part with my rezound for that phone. Battery life was decent tho. If you have no concern for pictures at all then you may like it.
True. The camera on the Razr m is pretty bad. I don't take many pictures, so it hasn't bothered me too much. For me, the better battery life makes up for it.
And the snappy S4 processor makes it such a joy to use.
And the size of the phone just feels right in my hand.
TBH, I wish there was an Android phone at this size and specs with a better camera and 300ppi, but manufacturers don't seem to want to make phones like that. So the Razr m is the closest thing.
Yes, the Razr m has its shortcomings, but it comes up short on things I'm not to picky about, so I'm really enjoying this phone.

I loved the overall size of mine. My needs are just different than yours. The m is blazing fast. Its way more powerful than I expected it to be. Glad to hear it worked out
It's actually the same exact hardware as the razr maxx hd. Screen and battery size are the only difference. Moto never has great cameras. It's not horrible, but its not HTC. It's a helluva lot better than the d2g my wife had before lol.

Surprised you didn't go for the RAZR HD or HD maxx.

I have used both the maxx Hd and the m and the maxx Hd camera blows the m away. Hell my old maxx blew the m away
Razr HD and MAXX are too big for my small hands
I was very tempted to get the Razr HD MAXX for it's battery life and screen, but I just really didn't want another big phone.
Razr HD MAXX is probably a really good phone. Fast S4 processor, nice HD screen, big battery (yet still thinner than the Rezound), good camera, Micro hdmi video out.
But when I held the MAXX in my hand, I didn't like how it felt. It was way too wide for me. And I would have put a case on it, so it would be even worse. The Razr m with a case still feel nice and small in my hand.
I went from rezzy to m a few weeks ago, very happy with my choice.

That's because the M is pretty much a 4" screen phone. It's not androids to androids in this comparison because HTC still isn't using on screen buttons. So the usable screen size on the M is not 4.3".

Let's say you are watching a YouTube video. The buttons disappear. There are many root apps that allow you to hide them too. In aokp there is a setting to hide them. Need anymore?

Root? I thought you said easy? Rooting in itself can be difficult for most people. And sure some apps take advantage of the extra space and hide the buttons, but most don't. My point is that I don't really consider it a 4.3" screen. So yes, I need more.

well thats a matter of opinion. no matter what you say, it is a 4.3" screen and you cannot change that. when im watching something, it goes full screen. most of the time i dont need the full screen to begin with. plus the screen looks super sexy without the buttons.

You know what isn't sexy though? That big a** Verizon logo, lol.
The phone has a great feel and is undeniably faster than the Rezound. Screen is not as high-res, but I truthfully don't care all that much and the battery life is amazing.
Camera blows.. I'll probably end up loading sense ROM on my Rezound for pics and CM10 on the M

I think you missed my original point and now you just want to argue. My point was that they use on screen buttons. So the phone can be smaller with a bigger screen. But I still don't think it's a fair comparison. And yes, that is my opinion.
