[Q] S2 with incorrect Rom - Fixable? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I hope that it is okay for me to post this here as I don't know where else to go. I have an S2 sgh-i777. All I wanted to do was root it so I followed the instructions on another site about using ODIN and Siyah kernal (yes, I know i should have just come here). After rooting, it rebooted and worked fine. I didn't even think about the fact that afterwards on the bootup screen it says GT-I9100. I DID use the files listed there, including the syah kernal that says I777.
Anyway, it worked after rooting, but I found out after that that the prior owner had not cleared everything, so I decided this morning to do a reset and wipe. After doing so, as far as I can get is to the initial splash screen. I am new to the S2, but so far I can't seem to get into download mode. I just feel sick about this, but was wondering if there is anything I can do.

Okay...where would I get one of those?

look online and buy one.
If you are handy with a solider pen, you can make one, there are instructions on this forum for making it.

Are those specific to model? I saw some that listed as I9100, but no I777. If I buy one I want to make sure I get the right thing. Thanks

OP, you realize, of course, that you are asking your SGH-I777 questions in the GT-I9100 forum.
The SGH-I777 has a totally different forum.

[Q] i9100 to i777

Okay so I am fairly new here, however I would not call myself a noob.
Anyways, I am facing a major and weird problem with my Samsung Galaxy S II i777. I couldn't wait for ICS to come to our phones so instead I installed a rom that was meant for the international GS2 (i9100) using "Install ICS on Galaxy S2(SII) I9100XXKPA firmware Android 4.0.3 (much stable)" on the dial android site
It worked pretty well, except the softkey key mapping but I reprogrammed that anyway. So the phone works, however I am not able to go back to CM7 Nightly. And I'm pretty sure it was because I didn't only flash the i9100 ICS PDA file, but also the PIT file, the CSC file, and the MODEM file in odin. So my phone essentially is programmed completely like a i9100. Whenever, I try to flash stock rom in the PDA section of odin I get the Galaxy S II i9100 boot screen and it just hangs there...and eventually it says Upload Kernel Panic Mode.
This process happens whenever I try to flash any type of i777 stock rom even with stock i777 PIT file and i777 Modem file.
The weird thing is that I can easily flash the i9100 ICS anytime...
So I am very confused haha
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance

Updated rooted Samsung Galaxy s2 by accident

Like the title says, I've updated my rooted phone by accident, now I'm not sure what I can do.
I was told I can install the custom ice cream sandwich rom, and that would let my phone be rooted again but I'm not sure.
I was wondering if anyone can help me go back to being rooted.

Well you lost root probably then, you could flash a CF-Root Kernel if you want to through odin. Just take a look at Chainfire's topic for CF-root and find the one matching your current kernel. Or you could flash like CM9 Ressurection Edition through odin, this replaces everything.

I did go through Odin, but problem is I don't see my kernel in Chainfires thread.
my kernel is 3.0.15-sph-d710, i tried searching for it but couldn't find it, can you help me look for it?
Hmm isnt the SPH-D710 a Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic Touch 4G? Perhaps you would find more answers at the epic Touch 4g Sub forums.

Trying to "Root" my Phone, but missing Kernel Version

I'm trying to "Root" my phone, but I seem the be missing something. I don't want to cause any unnecessary problems, but the Kernel versions I came across on the Forums are all i9000, or something along those lines... But that's not what my phone says. Mine has a baseband of I727RUXLF3. The Model is SGH-I727R. I'm not sure which Kernel version I need to download that is the right ROM file for my phone... Any help would be appreciated.
This is where I was looking:

That's not the i9100. Siyah wont work on it. I'm sure there's a thread for your phone mate..do search. I'm not familiar with it much myself, else I'd love to help. Just pretty certain siyah wont work on it.
EDIT. I believe your phone is the at&t version.. the skyrocket. There's an altogether separate forum for that device.

I'm not trying to find out which ROM has the best features on it. I'm trying to find which baseband is the right one so I don't mess up my phone.

Galaxy s 2 boost where can i find a stock rooted rom??

i rooted my friends galaxy s2 boost.. and wanted to kno if there was a stock rooted rom i can flash for him.. i flashed goodness rom.. and i made a back up.. see what happend is i rooted his phone all he wanted was stock root.. but when i backed up the stocked rooted rom.. then i rebooted system it was stuck in a bootloop.. so the i wiped everything and tried to restore samething so then i didnt kno what else to do so i flashed goodness rom.. and he wants just stock root.. so im stuck.. the backup i made aint workin? i cant seem to find just a stock rooted rom? thanks
So what model is the phone? I9100, i9100g, etc. You can either download a stock firmware from samfirmware, flash it then root, which will get you back to rooted stock, or, hunt around on xda for your model variant.

Yep, I've got i9100. I just didn't know what a 'boost mobile' was, ie if it's i9100 or something else. Usually if I need to flash stock, I'll just flash using mobile Odin and everroot. But many thanks for the info

I no what you have mate :thumbup:Im thinking s2 boost is the 4g model. Maybe wrong here but I would flash i9100 rom on that. Dont have one so not sure.
This is it here. Not an i9100. Has 8mp camera so I defo wouldnt flash i9100 rom on that.
Ahhh. Cool, gotcha. Also not sure whether it's flashable with an i9100 rom, it still depends on what model it is. If it's an i9100m, maybe.... If it's this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23042515 then probably not, and if it's as the screenshot attached, then definitely not. So still no real idea, they're all some sort of 4g galaxy s2... Able to shed any light on that?

What are you guys talking about?
All these devices use different CPU and GPU.
Don't encourage people to flash these ROMs on any I9100 or vice versa.
I9100 works on the P/M/T not G tho.
The closest US variant to the I9100 is the I777 and those ROMs aren't even compatible.

[Q] help... bricked it?

Hi all
I've had a custom root and rom on my s2
I've since reset and odined a new rom into it that didn't seem to work (boot looped) so I installed what I thought was a stock one vod uk)
Anyway, this hasn't worked as it now gets stuck booting on the s2 screen
Not sure what to do... my root (0yellow triangle) has disappeared so I can't install a custom rom and I don't know the csc (or whatever it It is) as I'm guessing the stock rom I put on was not exactly the same as the one that came on it originally?
Bit confused how I get it back now
Thanks

To help you out more information is needed - exact phone type, what was your previous ROM, what ROM you flashed, etc..
Can you go to Download Mode? (home + power + volume down)
If you can, download the right ROM and flash it with Odin.

Still unclear what is your phone model. Is it I9100, I9100G or even HD LTE?
According to this you must choose a proper ROM for your device. If it`s wrong you will get soft brick.

Its even written on a big sticker under the battery.

Hi
It's gt i9100
Can you point me in the direction of a rom that will work? Do I need to find a way of clearing the cache as well or should a simple reinstall fix it?
Thank you
Go to sammobile and get a stock rom from there......fill in the 4 boxes to pinpoint which ones you can try.Avoid the 4.0.4 one lol.
Then read tutorial about using odin properly on here.
