Okay so I am fairly new here, however I would not call myself a noob.
Anyways, I am facing a major and weird problem with my Samsung Galaxy S II i777. I couldn't wait for ICS to come to our phones so instead I installed a rom that was meant for the international GS2 (i9100) using "Install ICS on Galaxy S2(SII) I9100XXKPA firmware Android 4.0.3 (much stable)" on the dial android site
It worked pretty well, except the softkey key mapping but I reprogrammed that anyway. So the phone works, however I am not able to go back to CM7 Nightly. And I'm pretty sure it was because I didn't only flash the i9100 ICS PDA file, but also the PIT file, the CSC file, and the MODEM file in odin. So my phone essentially is programmed completely like a i9100. Whenever, I try to flash stock rom in the PDA section of odin I get the Galaxy S II i9100 boot screen and it just hangs there...and eventually it says Upload Kernel Panic Mode.
This process happens whenever I try to flash any type of i777 stock rom even with stock i777 PIT file and i777 Modem file.
The weird thing is that I can easily flash the i9100 ICS anytime...
So I am very confused haha
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance

Hey guys, I've been looking around at stock roms for the international GS2, and all of them are Odin files, and I didn't think that Odin-ing [or heimdall] another devices firmware was very wise. If it's safe, just tell me please! If not, I was wondering if anyone could lead me to what is safe to flash to my i777, that is an "International Stock" version. Thanks XDA

There is no such thing as "the best hellaised rom" bro. You can find already hellraised roms in the development section of this forum or hellraise yourself with the flashable hellraiser zip that's also in he dev forum (its a sticky).

I guess my question should have been, where can I find international roms that I can flash directly to my device, and if it's safe to Odin their files as well. I know about hellraising, I just don't want to try something without asking around first.
edit: I updated the title, sorry.
I9100 development forums is where you find I9100 firmwares.
Hellraising Odin-flashable firmwares is iffy - especially since Odin-flashable firmwares are FAR more likely to contain bootloaders. That reason plus the additional challenges of Hellraising such firmware is why I don't support it - it is possible but difficult. (Extract the factoryfs, flash that, then flash Hellraiser.)
Pre-Hellraised firmwares will be in Development for the time being. At some point, Development may be split to move the "I hellraised someone else's work" threads to a separate forum - that's under discussion.

[ROM][2.3.6] NoName {Stock + Slim + JKAY} |XWLA4| 2/17/12
Or you can go digging the i9100 section and Hellraise a stock rom.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! x1000!!! this is exactly what I wanted.
If you wanted to try out just flashing a i9100 rom before hellraising it (the stock roms that have to be odin'd) you can use Mobile Odin since it wont flash the bootloaders. I had tried many that way before hellraising was possible. But you wont have all the soft buttons working or call sounds but you probably already knew that. I did it just to try out some of tbe leaks of ICS. Then I just flashed the kernel reverter that i use to get back to cm7 without the get.prop error then my nandroid back up to restore to cm7. But Entropy knows his ****e and souds like you have it figured out.

OK, been surfing the form for a few hours now and not seeing some usual answer and questions.
Phone : T Mobile SGS2 -- Right out of the box.
1) Is there an Odin package that will replace the stock recovery with CWM for a brand new phone still running GB ?
2) Where is the Stock ICS ROM Odin pack or the Latest Samsung/T Mobile Stock GB Odin ROM (with or with out root)
Im sorry if these are repeats, i'm coming from the SGS4G forums where these are common stickies.
The T mobile version is different to the I9100 and has a sepetate forum on XDA. You might want to look there because you'll probably brick your phone using roms found here.

Yes, just flash stock rom via Odin.
You can go back and forth to and from any rom you wish aslong as its for your device. Which means dont just flash any old **** to your device, read, learn enjoy.
Learn using some stickies
Wipe using cwm
Flash using Odin, but In my opinion flash lpd instead of old lpg

"go back and forth to and from any rom"? Is that means I have to flash it back to 2.3.5 first? Using recovery?

make sure to flash correct to match your device gt-19100 or gt-19100G dont mix them up.

So, that means I could now flash my CM9 into Samsung 4.0 LPG Rom directly without turning back S II into 2.3.5 first right?
Can somebody answer me please ??????

Yes, as long as you read the instructions of installing CM9. People get problems after installation usually due to not properly installing.
Also it would be best to be patient for replies, instead of posting for an answer just 30 minutes later. Plenty of people wait for replies hours to days later.

Hello,
I just got my new Galaxy S2 and want to install the Resurrection Remix Rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854)
Since there are soo many topics and threads here, I can't even find the answer I'm looking for with the search bar, so I'm sorry to ask.
I want to know how to install CWM and this ROM, is there a guide somewhere? What's the best way to root it and install CWM?
It would be really nice if someone could post it.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Greezes,
Draygon
just get odin and then flash a rooted and cmw kernel.
Sent from my GT-I9100G using xda premium
Well, first thing to do is to get Odin like our friend already said, u can look here in forum for links, u will need the Odin 1.85
After that go to this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Its Chainfire kernel, it Root and install CWM and Superuser basically.. he keeps it the most original as possible...
Attention ! Download the version that is compatible to ur ROM Version !
now go to odin, in PDA u add the .tar file from chainfire and select start. (If u dont know how to use Odin completelly, i suggest u to read something about first!)
After its complete the SGSII will restart and it will be rooted, now u can download the rom u want and flash it through CWM...
Remember to read FAQ first...
Thank you button if u like it ! =D
Acutally, the first thing you should do is confirm what model of the Galaxy SII you have, since there are over a dozen variants, some of which are specific to the US. I say this because this is your first post in the Galaxy SII forum, and a brief perusal of your posting history doesn't really give any clues as to your geographical location.
Look on the label under the battery.
Does it say "GT-i9100"?
If so, you're in the right place.
If not, you're in the wrong place, and flashing ANYthing for an i9100 will potentially brick your device.
I got a Galaxy S2 i9100.
Thanks a lot for your great replys, you guys are awesome!!
I know what to do now.

Welcome pal ! This Forum helped me for one year till now, its great to share some experience ! =D
Just have another question because I don't want to brick my new S2:
In this guide which Danpamio posted: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
I have to look for the right ROM to flash via odin to my S2.
Mine got the "LP7" in the system settings info.
Now, which of there roms do I have to install? What's the difference?
CF-Root-SGS2_DX_XTC_LP7-v5.4-CWM5.zip
CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEN_LP7-v5.4-CWM5.zip
Thanks in advance!
This is the safe way, just notice recovery is only there until you reboot, but root stays, still there are instructions how to unroot

If you read the entire thread you are referencing it clearly states:
CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG1-v4.1-CWM4.zip
The XX and OXA identifiers are not that important. Usually a "KG1" kernel is a "KG1" kernel, and that is that. Sometimes (pretty rare) it happens there will be multiple different kernels with the same name in different firmwares, that are actually different. If this happens, they are usually only very minor changes and you should expect them to still be fully compatible. I include the "XX" and "OXA" identifiers so the very advanced users can deduce from which full firmware I have taken the kernel file.

That should answer your questions.
I hope that it is okay for me to post this here as I don't know where else to go. I have an S2 sgh-i777. All I wanted to do was root it so I followed the instructions on another site about using ODIN and Siyah kernal (yes, I know i should have just come here). After rooting, it rebooted and worked fine. I didn't even think about the fact that afterwards on the bootup screen it says GT-I9100. I DID use the files listed there, including the syah kernal that says I777.
Anyway, it worked after rooting, but I found out after that that the prior owner had not cleared everything, so I decided this morning to do a reset and wipe. After doing so, as far as I can get is to the initial splash screen. I am new to the S2, but so far I can't seem to get into download mode. I just feel sick about this, but was wondering if there is anything I can do.
