Indeed, you can have a USB stick attached, and charge inductively, at the same time.

I'd love to do this, but I'm terrible with this kind of work and I'm afraid I would break stuff -.-"
Wait, do you need two touchstones for this to work?

Very interesting, although this looks to be above my pay grade. My girl is otw home with a N7 right now for my Xmas gift, and if she sees me try this, I'm liable to brick it, and she's liable to sh!t one lol

Will this allow normal charging for those times when we don't have the Wireless charger?
Or... [EVIL GRIN] can we charge with both at the same time? Wireless+wired?

This is for the Palm touchstones, which are not Qi. Yes, you can charge by USB as normal.

Is that a N4 charging on the other? Ear speaker looks different than mine which has me puzzled, but am curious how you got them working. Something similar?

You can charge via both the USB plug and inductive at the same time, with no damage to the device.

I have a whole bunch of these palm chargers laying around brand new lol but I dont know how to modify this on my own, or even for my GSIII
You're in Adelaide? As in, Adelaide, SA?! If so, I'm amazed! Which model of N7 did you do this on? I'm looking at picking up a 32GB 3G model in the next couple of days; do you expect this mod is compatible across all 3 models?
I would truly love to have this installed on an N7 but, like many others here, it is way over my head. Kudos to you for giving it a go and getting it working - that's incredible!

Yes, Adelaide, South Australia. I did this on the WiFi version, but I expect it would be done the same way on any model.
Today I also modified the TouchPad charging dock to work with it:

I would love to do this, but I don't have the stuff lol. I'm not good with these stuff, so I don't know where to look. Where can I get an equivalent for the stuff you used?

quick question:
Will micro HDMI to HDMI cable work or is MHL adapter/micro usb to HDMI required?
It's my understanding that our old microhdmi to hdmi cables we used for our evo 4g will not work with the evo 3d. Instead, we will need an MHL adapter or microusb to HDMI cable.
Just want to verify my understanding. I am sure somebody else is wondering this too.
MHL is required. my question is where do we get it at? only one i see is the one that comes with the samsung phone. i called sprint and they said there is one in the box but i really doubt this person at sprint knew what i was talking about.

I created an account just to tell you: Thank you for posting this. I don't know how to thank you using the forum yet, so I'll just say it.
I went to a bunch of stores yesterday asking about the adapter, and none of them even knew what MHL was.
Many thanks!
Edit: I guess I needed to post once to activate the "thanks" button.

I don't think so.
I believe the reason for the MHL adapter is because the HDMI doesn't provide a charge for the phone.
I could've sworn there was an early hands on video on YouTube where the sprint/HTC Rep said it can charge via HDMI... let me do some digging.

I remember the same thing. The cable is supposed to have some sort of port for connecting a cable to charge the device from what I understand.

at ~0:31 she mentions the MHL connector has a port to, I assume, plug in a DC source in order to simultaneous output HDMI and charge.
i bought universal mhl adaptor from t mobile that they sold for the sensation .. but when i plug into my phone and then try and toggle my tv to the hdmi source that the phone is plugged into it doesnt pick up a signal from that port.... is there something that has to be enabled on the phone?
I fot mine from tmobile website. Cheapest I found and works like a charm. Plus every store I called asked "what's an mhl cable?"

Hi Guys,
Sony Mobile this morning has announced that a dedicated docking station for the Sony Xperia P is still alive. However, it won’t be called the SmartDock anymore, Sony is calling it the Xperia P TV Dock. So how does it differ from the SmartDock? Well it still has the HDMI output to connect to your TV, but it gets rid of the two USB 2.0 ports.
Do You Like It ?

Why would they take something amazing and kill it. Without being able to plug in a wireless keyboard or mouse, whats the point? Anyone want to bet that they will release a BlueTooth controller to go with this? Its the only way I can see it working now.
I wonder if they did it deliberately to stop people plugging in an external drive full of movies, pushing streaming services instead? It can't be a costs thing surely? A USB hub retails for £1.
And why is it a micro HDMI on the back? If it is to be the core of a home entertainment suite I would want full sized HDMI, for consistency if nothing else (and the fact the cables are 5x cheaper).
What does this possibly give you over a normal phone stand? Where is the USP?
Baffling.
Edit: should have read the post first. The dock itself has BT? WTF? Its like the team that designed it have never used a smartphone before, or are even aware of what device is actually going to be plugged into it.
Opinion revised from Baffling to Bewildered.

I am gonna buy the dock purely to use as a charging cradle for my P so I am HAPPY with the change as it means it will cost less
I'm gonna buy this with the Sony EP851 (since I don't believe it will come with an AC adaptor) which should be out by then and am gonna use this dock to enable the simplest (and prettiest) drop and charge solution I can think of. They could axe the HDMI output too for all I care

Hi Viiv, I think you may want to look at what else is available first. For one, the swap out from a USB hub to a bluetooth solution will add loads to the cost, I would guess this will be around £35. Second, the EP851 is not that special. Oh, and third, because of the BT, it will probably drain power (costing you money) when the phone is not docked.
If you dont care about the BT or the TV out, can I suggest something like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150799144967
I have two of these. Each came with a really nice dock and a 1500 ma charger (performs exactly the same as the EP851) a data cable and a charge cable. I estimate the Sony equivalent would be around 6x more expensive (£10 against 35 + 25). As a bonus, the stand I use has a removable spacer, allowing you to dock your phone when it is in a case. I cant see the equivalent on the SXP TV Dock.
True, this is for the SXS, but an SXP version must be on the way.
Oh, and one last thing, the "Sugar Cube" trick worked a treat at removing that nasty logo. Take a white sugar cube, dampen it and rub it over the logo. It is abrasive enough to take the lettering off but not abrasive enough to damage the plastic.
-- Phil
What Bluetooth. There is no Bluetooth in the dock lol. When they say Bluetooth they are referring to the built in Bluetooth of the phone lol.
Instead, the Xperia P TV Dock has Bluetooth which can be used to connect a keyboard and mouse (as long as they support it). The addition of Bluetooth is a sensible move given the plethora of accessories out there

Didn't see this on here so figured I'd post it - there's going to be an official Nokia wireless charging car dock for the Lumia 920, 820 and 720. As well as doing the whole wireless charging thing, it'll also have NFC so you can set it up to automatically launch programs or change settings when the phone enters the dock.

NFC cant change de config of the phone. Only can launch de menu of configuration. Example, you can configure a nfc tag to lauch the wifi menu but any change on its config.
I you config a NFC tag to launch a probram, a pop up apears and you must confirm the launch of the program.
the NFC in windows phone is a bit unusefull
Looks good, but the base restricts the location of the mount. I've always used air-vent clips for my phone mounts and that doesn't look like an option with this model.

anyone tried one of these?
judging from the other official nokia car mount I have (which doesn't take the 920, it just slips off all the time) i'm not convinced this will hold well...
Also, if anyone has it, does anyone here have navigon? Standard 1amp car charger seems to have difficulty keeping phone charged when using it, curious to how qi charger will cope with such a demand

I can confirm that standard 1 amp charges do have trouble keeping up.
I have had the best luck so far with a vibe charger. It does not seem to add much to the charge, but at least seems to keep up (most of the time). I find that turning off the screen for sections where you have many miles to your next turn makes a world of difference.
Here is the charger:

Better don't try. His mechanic fixation mechanism is quite poor. Returned after 3 month of use, because phone was dropped from it and it failed to tighten again, thus became useless (something broken inside).

With OTG cable and a tiny little reader you can use it
get otg cable from amazon, and this micro Sd card reader http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002HGFKR8/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

cost for both items under 15 bucks shipped.
Only thing I've noticed, the One couldn't read my 64 GB card formatted in xFat, I reformatted it FAT 32 and it works fine

Nice, I plan on picking up a straight one too. The only case I had issues with using the right angle one is my nexus 7. I like using the right angle better since it runs parallel with the bottom of the phone/tablet instead of sticking out of it hence making it a bit less noticeable. I mostly use it on my nexus tablets.
Do you happen to know if a split cable with usb charging on it was ever made to work, or can the port not be a host and charge at the same time?

I rooted mine and then put the stock kernel back. But I did freeze alot of services, so maybe one of those is needed for MHL support. I got what I thought was the right MHL adaptor, now i'm starting to thing maybe its on the phone's end.
