Didn't see this on here so figured I'd post it - there's going to be an official Nokia wireless charging car dock for the Lumia 920, 820 and 720. As well as doing the whole wireless charging thing, it'll also have NFC so you can set it up to automatically launch programs or change settings when the phone enters the dock.

I am going to build one
NFC cant change de config of the phone. Only can launch de menu of configuration. Example, you can configure a nfc tag to lauch the wifi menu but any change on its config.
I you config a NFC tag to launch a probram, a pop up apears and you must confirm the launch of the program.
the NFC in windows phone is a bit unusefull
Looks good, but the base restricts the location of the mount. I've always used air-vent clips for my phone mounts and that doesn't look like an option with this model.

anyone tried one of these?
judging from the other official nokia car mount I have (which doesn't take the 920, it just slips off all the time) i'm not convinced this will hold well...
Also, if anyone has it, does anyone here have navigon? Standard 1amp car charger seems to have difficulty keeping phone charged when using it, curious to how qi charger will cope with such a demand

I can confirm that standard 1 amp charges do have trouble keeping up.
I have had the best luck so far with a vibe charger. It does not seem to add much to the charge, but at least seems to keep up (most of the time). I find that turning off the screen for sections where you have many miles to your next turn makes a world of difference.
Here is the charger:

Better don't try. His mechanic fixation mechanism is quite poor. Returned after 3 month of use, because phone was dropped from it and it failed to tighten again, thus became useless (something broken inside).
On wpcentral there are lots of reports about same issues.

i not have any problem with it and i use it all the days 2 hours per Day.
i fix it in the Front glass
This is going to be an awkward question, probably, especially in this section, but… did anybody succeed in making the NFC tag in this dock work with Android? I'd love to see it activate car mode in my Galaxy Note 3.

looks nice, isn't it?
anyone seen these for supply in the UK?
Looks nice, and a good price. But all that wear and tear on the headphone jack would worry me - it gets enough when I'm using headphones every day.
I'm waiting for the A2DP update to come along so we can use bluetooth for audio. If it ever does...
 32 bux? Not bad. I wouldn't use it, but at least it isn't as expensive as iPod accessories. Now if my 9100 only cost as much as a shuffle...

just ordered mine...
I keep you posted.
whered u get it from ?
Got mine, it's great (but it thumps)
Got mine from Brando. The UK ones didn't come with a USB/3pin charger which I wanted. Works out at just over £20. Brando were great, really quick and included a little dangly thing which is either just a keyring or a screen cleaner - not sure.
The red light flashes in time with speech when I use it in handsfree 'mode' and in time with the music in mp3 'mode', but when there is no sound there is a background 'thump' about every 5 seconds.
Anyway, I have no connection with Brando other than as a happy customer.
Got mine from http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/9070.htm
If you sign up for their new letter they give you free delivery on your first order.
I'm very impressed with it, the quality for that price is great. I know there are a couple of pics on the brando site, but i thought i would post a couple real life ones.
By the way mine has a blue light, which is very bright!
Came with a Mains plug which converts to a usb connection, and a mini usb to standard usb lead. I have got it connected to the comp for sync and charge, but you could connect it to the mains plug for quicker charging....
Any Q's ask them here

No regrets though.

Don't you know if they send also non-british plug?
And th eother thing - how can you describe the sound quality and volume of this set?
what about for the US. is there one that use the US ac adapter
got mine today. It came with a US power adapter. so far it sounds great. its more than loud enough for me. i bought it for my desk at work so it doesnt have to be super loud. quality is pretty good to me.
What I'd like is any sort of docking adapter than can take both a USB data connection and a mains power connection at the same time. This would allow the Wizard to charge up quickly from the mains adpater when the computer is turned off, but when the PC is on it would sync without having to worry about swapping cables over.
Anyone know of such a device?
Andre
Anyone know any other cheaper sites for one of these? I really want one but Im not sure if Id use it much as the speakers are quite loud on the MDA anyway. How much louder do they play in the docking station?
I dont think you are goin to find it any cheaper than this. its pretty cheap as it is. it id way louder than the mda. but what makes it better is the quality of the sound. the sound is a lot clearer and has more bass
I bought mine from Expansys but I can not seem to find it for sale there anymore?
Unfortunately for me the charging function of the device no longer works! I can manage to hotsync and play music through the speakers, but the greatest use I got out the device was in charging it up - I have no idea how to go about fixing it. I have to use the charger that came with my phone (which works fine) or charge it by connecting to the USB port of my PC. What a blow!
Occasionally the USB just dies on mine and the blue light goes out. It's normally when I'm removing the device from the cradle but it's a pain to have to mess around with unplugging USB, replugging it in Pc yada yada
Anybody using this with an 8125? I'm assuming that since it fits the MDA, it will fit the 8125 ok, right?
Just searching around for a spare battery and found this

I think it is really useful since you can charge your phone(1,2 or 3 times) ,psp, gameboy or even ipad and laptop depending on the model you buy.
i tought to share it with the rest of you.
I agree these pocket chargers are really great, i use one myself, or rather i did use one for my HTC Diamond. The problem with SE X10 is that it accept very few chargers so i just want to raise everyones attention before going out and buying one, make sure it will work with the phone! Also, SE has got their own pocket chargers that most certain should work. Dont know anything about effectivity or pricing. But, read before you buy.

This has been discussed before. The reason is that the X10 requires the USB data pins (D+/D-) shorted. This is either done at the adapter side or on the USB cable itself. You can find these "Charge-only" micro USB cables on ebay.
So i posted this yesterday but due to the database error they are gone.
So i got the usb battery pack and tried it:
the result is great.
Charges the phone in 2 hours, they provided a cable that charges the X10 .
Build quality is also great.
And it fits my pocket.
I'm using self made battery pack for charging everything powered by USB - cost is about 2$
all you need is:
1. buy $2 4xAA battery holder
2. get USB connector with female plug (buy or rip off from old pc USB .
3. solder the usb + and - to holder outputs
4. for X10 to work solder usb data - and data+ lines with each other (like other chargers do - see pinouts.ru link for reference)
5. profit!!!
4xAA rechargeable cells in series circuit (which is in battery holder) produce 4.8V output combined - so you dont have to convert the voltages, just solder the output
the capacity is the same as single battery - so if 4 x AA 2300mAh batteries are used you have about 2300mAh 4.8V output
pinouts.ru:
"Supplied voltage by a host or a powered hub ports is between 4.75 V and 5.25 V. "
this guy does that, with a littie bit more play on fitting it to can, painting it etc:
(i cannot post external links - search for "Build a 4 x AA USB Altoids Battery" on instructables.com)
one thing to be aware - this pack does not have any electronics to shut it off. so if you have empty battery pack and some of power in your phone, you'll see that this pack actually drains the power from phone . so, control the situation every 15 minutes, or write and send me a suitable Tasker script ("if the phone is charging and the battery level is falling, play a sound ")
anyway this pack helped me a lot on hiking trips, my X10 could record GPS track :]
Since I do not understand much of this I think I will stick with my usbbattery.

Nice! I've been thinking of DIYing a backup battery myself. 9V battery and some resistors should do the trick
Maybe even something like this..

Nice setup! I see you used an Arduino BT, is that the best way to interface an Arduino with Android? I'm using an Arduino Uno what options do I have to interface that to Android? Right not I'm using the charger state change to turn the screen on and tasker orientation change to turn it off.
When I first created that program yes. But if I tried it now I would look into a usb connection from the tablet to the Arduino. A bluetooth Arduino is really expensive ($150)! I think they have wifi ones also. The bluetooth is mostly reliable. I did have to make my program disconnect and reconnect every 5 minutes or so. That was an issue I had on a Galaxy Tab though. Not sure if it's necessary on the Springboard.

How do you power it? With navigation battery goes down just in 2-2,5 hours. I tried to use 2A USB charger, but it doesn't give much difference. It's still goes down very quickly...

That's interesting. I don't have that problem at all. I'm using a generic 2a usb charger from Wallmart. Maybe you're using the usb jack to charge it? I cut the end off and soldered it to the power jack.
My charger only runs at 1A and it charges very quick. In my setup the tablet is charging continuously even when car is off, its basically always at 100%.
I would attempt that level of awesome, if it didn't mean possibly killing lots of people in my negligence. I would have to drive a bright yellow nerf car lol.
Wow. That is really cool. And the video was even cooler. Nice usage of arduino and getting everything to show within the bezel. But do some of the programs on the tablet not play well with the shortened screen real estate?
Thanks! The ICS on screen buttons aren't accessible, but since that area is always reserved for them, everything I've tried so far works.

You're in Adelaide? As in, Adelaide, SA?! If so, I'm amazed! Which model of N7 did you do this on? I'm looking at picking up a 32GB 3G model in the next couple of days; do you expect this mod is compatible across all 3 models?

Hoping version 2 will come out with wireless charging built in!
So I got upgraded from my Note2 to Note 3 and discover that the charging/data connector is the type that looks like the end that goes into a USB 3 hard drive.
I previously purchased some right-angled Micro-USB adapters for my Note 2 - they look like this, but I'm not sure if this is the actual product I bought.

What I'm looking for is the equivalent type of right-angle adapter but for the USB-3 type of connector used for the Note 3.This way the connection is safer and easier to handle as the cable is not sticking straight out of the bottom, but running parallel to the device's bottom edge - even in landscape mode. If you're using it while you're lying in bed while it's charging you can rest the phone on your belly and not risk tweaking the connection.

Hey - that's it! I followed the link and found some black ones that i purchased. Only thing I'm worried about is the Samsung detecting the different cable and throwing up the nag message or not even charging at full speed. It did this with a different cable I took from one of my portable hard drives. I'll report back if there are problems.
Thanks for tracking that down!
Doh!
If anyone else missed it - if you just need charging, it's totally unecessary. My old micro-usb connectors work just fine plugged into the right-most side of the Note 3's USB3 connector - I discovered this by just plugging one of them in by force of habit and realizing it worked!

The only "nag" is a warning about USB3 file transfers affecting your signal, which happens with the stock cable too. In my Alienware m11x r3 it doesn't charge any faster in the USB3 ports according to the app that reads the charging rate (450mA). The USB2 port that remains powered with the system off actually charges at 1,200mA when not in host mode (off or asleep). It'll do that with a standard microUSB 2.0 B cable too.
Anyway, I prefer the full microUSB 3.0 B connector because it is stronger (distributes force), so I also bought some right-angle adapters from eBay. Mine are black and seem intended for mounting in a dock of some kind due to screw posts. I ordered a left and a right angle one, even though the pics are the same for both. They'll be here soon!
