I just got my Note II and I am not happy with what I see when I long press the home button. I wish that recent apps would only show up as icons, with both icons and screens showing, it takes a hell of a lot of scrolling to get to the app I want. Is there any solution to this that involves long press on home button but just looks...well smaller?
I like this
TaskSwitcher

You can also have widgets on it

I was wondering if there was a way to use the home button as an app drawer? For example pressing the home button on the home screen would function as a app drawer instead of having to press an on-screen button to do so.

Possible with other launchers available from the play store.
Oh thanks, is there possibly a way to make that work using touch wiz launcher? I prefer the whole touchwiz look and feel, but for now I'll try some other launchers :cyclops:
I'm not particularly fond of Samsung's default button layout and I wish it was this way (maybe some developer can hack it to make it so?)
Home Button:
Single Press - Home
Double Press - SVoice (Which can be disabled)
Long Press - Search
Menu Button:
Single Press - Multitasking (this is the most used button after home so it must be quick to access in my opinion)
Long Press - Settings
What do you guys think?
Menu button :
single press for multitasking - I don't use that. Scrolling the task menu is slow and annoying. I prefer going back to any apps by clicking on the apps icon on my home screen.

Task menu is slow cause of the long press, and that's exactly why it would be great to have that on single press

I think its slow because you can see what, 4 apps on the screen? PITA imo, I usually have so much stuff open that a reboot is faster than swiping it all away

Proberly a dumb question but is there a setting that will make my gs3s home button always send me to my FIRST home screen? Pressing home button from some apps or tasks sends me to the home screen I was previously on being sometimes my 2nd or 3rd home screen...... But I want the first one to show up!!!
press it again.
Yeah I know but I mean directly first time.... Any ideas?

If you're using touchwiz it sends you to your default home screen. If you're using a replacement launcher, just change your default home screen
U can install other Launchers like Apex Launcher.
Find it on Google Play.
Nope doesn't always send me to my default depending on what home screen i was on. I tried go launcher but does the same problem! I guess I'll just have to press home twice if there's no specific setting

I found a really annoying issue with nova launcher. I've tested it on 2 S4's and even my note 2. Mostly affects the S4's though. Sometimes I notice something causes my home button to respond slower than it should(s voice disabled). It annoys me. I found out that it only slows down after I go into the app drawer. I can open 15 apps, play music etc and the home button response doesn't slow at all but once I open the app drawer and exit out of it the home button starts to lag.
Not only that but get this. If you have a transparent notification bar, if you go into your app drawer and hit the home button the transparency goes away. You have to open an app and hit the home button for it to return. Also sometimes I'll be in an app and I'll hit the home button to my home screen and there will randomly be like this blue square around one of my app icons or around an entire folder. Weird?

Heres what I'm talking about. That blue square thing. I couldn't take a screen shot of it bcuz the second you touch your screen it disappears.

^ you might get more support/help if you post it in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389071
OK I posted it in there too. Thanks dude! Didn't know that thread existed. Took me forever to find out what was causing the home button lag.

Weird. I've been running Nova on my phone out of the box, and no issues here.

I ran nova with no issues, but enjoy the speed of apex more.

I'm having no Nova issues. But I didn't take the OTA!
When it comes to launchers I favor adw launcher ex, during my droid x days all I used was go launcher tho. Adw is Really quick and I dont think ive ever ran into any major bugs.

On tje bottom of my home screen, it will only allow me to put 3 widgets. I want to add a 4th widget on the bottom next to the "apps" button, but I can't remember how. Any help? Thanks in advance.

Never mind, I was trying to add a widget instead of an icon.

If using Nova Launcher, go into home, advanced settings, overlap all widgets. Then go into dock, advanced settings, dock-as-overlay.
If using TouchWiz launcher, I am unclear on any solution.
