So my HTC One X Plus is stuck in bootloop. Here is what happened. I just got the phone and the first thing I did was unlock it. Everything was fine. Next I went to root it using RootBootV5. Here is where the issue came up. At the end of the root process my phone should have loaded the lock screen. Instead it just sat on the White HTC quietly brilliant. Stayed that way for hours.
So i rebooted into bootloader and tried everything I can possibly think of to fix it, Factory Reset, Fastboot Erase Cache, even folloed this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1609190.
Nothing is working and I don't know what to do. I don't think the phone was successfully rooted so i cant simply flash a new rom. Also recovery is not working, just a black screen.
PLEASE HELP.
You can try to reflash a recovery using fastboot. If you can do that maybe you can flash another rom. Also, wern't you able to wipe cache at all because of the black screen?

I had clear the cache through command prompt on my PC.
If you can boot into the bootloader, use the appropriate RUU

Thanks! I was looking for a program like that.
Had it too this morning... I had the wrong kernel installed. I'm using this and additionally installed this
Turn your phone off and then on with the vol-down button pressed, enter fastboot, connect it to your pc (will switch to fastboot USB) and use (from sdk) fastboot-command 'fastboot boot boot boot-BLADE-CM10-201212092302.img" to update the kernel. Hope this helps.

Similar issue, details a bit different
Phone: HTC One X+
Carrier: ATT
Rooted: Never, stock phone
Previous Research: I searched the forums and found similar issues, but mostly only for rooted phones, to which this does not apply. I spent at least an hour pouring through various threads and using the fancy advance search. I swear I'm doing my very best to not be TFNG...but, I still haven't found the answer and I'm giving in.
The Problem: Random rebooting
In the last 24 hours this has happened at least 18 times that I've been able to count. It happens when I'm using the phone, and when I'm not using it. It's showing no signs of stopping, and has been seemingly getting worse. Now it's beginning to lag severely through out all apps, has trouble loading my home screen, and in addition, flashes back to home when in an app.
Troubleshooting:
Rebooting
Uninstalling all recently installed aps
Force Stop on all unnecessary apps through Task Manager
Factory Reset
Assumptions:
Likely hardware related and I have to send it back to ATT and get a replacement
Conclusion:
In your time spent in this forum and in all your readings, have you come across a resolution for the issue that isn't "send it back?"
Sincere Thanks for any and all feedback.

Hi XDA. I did post a topic to do with the same handset but I've requested for it to be deleted as I'm going to post all the current details on my handset and the status of it, just so it's easier to look at the problems.
Modes the phone can run in: Fastboot, System Recovery and USB-MS toggle.
Through backup and restore, nothing works, requests everything through ADB despite having tried that also. Flashing new ROMs after wiping the phone and SD entirely doesn't work, it still gets stuck in the loop no matter what ROM I use.
I have extracted the ROM and system/boot.img's from an Orange RUU via and tried installing the rom and the img files separately but the ROM came up as "bad" and I don't know how to use the .img as they don't come up. I think if I flashed the fresh boot and system images it might work, but that's just me. I have also tried installing the RUU from fastboot, but that doesn't work either, it just searches for images and reverts to the fastboot menu with no indication for the RUU install. I've tried wiping the SD and using a fresh SD and still nothing, still looping.
I'm at my wits end with this and I don't want to have to sell it faulty if it's fixable or "not" bricked..
Its not bricked, if it was then nothing would happen at all.
Although I have never heard of this problem before and the only possible solution i can think of is to connect try and update to the official ROM, which would remove your root access and most likely not let you root again, but this is still better than having a non-working hero.
Hope you find a solution

Good to know it's not bricked, it means that it CAN be fixed somehow.
I have said in the post that I can't get into Android at all expect the boot modes and USB-MS toggle. This means I can't get into sync to install an RUU, which I couldn't do before anyway. I have extracted the ROM from an official RUU but that and the sys.img and boot.img won't flash either. The .img files don't even show, since you can only flash .zip files.
Thanks anyway!
Sorry guys, i need to bump this... :-(
Any suggestions?

I'm not sure I 100% understand the problem you are having here. I guess you are trying to root essentially, since you are trying RUUs and zips (whilst rooting might not be your end goal, it sounds like you're trying to just now).
Make a gold card, and use the HEROIMG.zip method to flash the ROM.zip out an RUU. At work so can't explain fully, but search on these terms for help.
It's already rooted, it's just stuck in a boot loop, and I can get into the states I mentioned above. And I've tried a few ROMs off here and that doesn't seem to work. Tried extracting the ROM from an official RRU as well, which is why I mentioned it.

When you hold Home and Press power do you get into the recovery screen?
Which recovery screen have you got installed?
Have you waited more than 5 minutes for a new ROM to load the first time?
Have you run logcat and watched the output whilst it is loading a fresh rom?
Have you wiped everything before flashing the rom's update.zip?
I get into recovery, I have RA Hero installed on it. And it's sat for over 5 minutes..

You have two options, leave it for an hour and see if it boots. Make sure you do a full wipe and then flash VillainROM or another established ROM. Don't use any beta's or alpha builds.
Alternatively you can get a logcat report going and post that up.
I'll try the first option when I finish work, I'll try Villain as it's what the Hero had on it before this happened.
Are there any guides to doing a logcat report? I tried doing, one once but I didn't seem to get much out of the instructions I was given. Thanks for your help so far .

there is info on setting up adb. Then do "adb logcat > logfile.txt" and send logfile.txt
Anon I'll try that at the weekend sometime when I get a chance.
Btdag I left the Hero on until it died, nothing but the Hero screen. Guess I need to bump here again once logcat is done..

This is very weird, I posted this on certain Roms threads thinking it is a rom issue.
When I flash certain roms I cannot get pass the htc white screen. I tried this with Synergy and Viper, CursedDragon. When I flash the rom only it will hang for a while in the white screen then goes black and reboot to the white screen ....over and over.
here is what works with some roms. I will have to take the battery out, hold the vol down then power to get back to recovery and flash different kernel (not the same kernel works for every rom).
I got this way to work with Viper and CursedDragon but not able to find a kernel to flash over the latest Synergy.
I have tried the file to do a complete wipe but it didn't work.
Is this normal? Any ideas. I was thinking to put back my 8G SD since I have replaced with a 16G SD or to revert my phone back and start root again from the beginning?
What do you think?

So I just got back from Jersey and I am in bumble f..k wv, and no one will help me here. Its rooted, and the bootloader is off, or the radio I should say, but I tried many chips and I wasnt able to get past the white screen, So if anyone can help please email me, [email protected] i would really appreciate it. Try to download few kernels to your pc (silverneedle, natarchy...). Mount your sd from your phone recovery and put those files there, and apply one the time then reboot (silverNeedle worked for me)

If you guys are trying to flash custom kernels over 2.3.4 roms, it will fail. If you are sticking on splash or lopping it could be a wipe issue, try one of the superwipe zips. Otherwise, more info about your device/system would be needed. Good luck.
Not just custom kernels, with some roms it will not take any, not even the included one.
I am trying to flash Synergy-3DVO_RLS1_08-21-11(NIGHTLY).zip but it doesn't work in my phone. it keepa rebooting on the first htc screen.
I used both recoveries, just to make sure if it might work with one of them.
I rooted my phone with the very first root guide that came out, first temp then revolutionary and now it is on S OFF RL.
I used the super wipe files but don't seem to work.
Can you help with any suggestions?

I'm having a similar issue with my phone. I did a Nandroid Backup (Amon RA Recovery) of my existing ROM and then I rebooted without flashing any new files. The phone boots where I can see the clock and then it reboots itself and continues to do the same thing. I flashed the Super Wipe file and then flashed the new ROM that I wanted to move to and everything is fine.
Does anybody know why this is happening? I should be able to perform a Nandroid Backup without any changes and be able to boot into my existing setup. I like flashing new ROMs every now and again and this obviously prevents me from wanting to do anything. Any help is appreciated!
try using twrp Recovery instead of Amon RA here is the link for the new version

Looks like your digitizer is dying. Clean your screen thoroughly and reboot.
Atrix Freeze and Lag
Its not your hardware I am having the same problem and this all occured after the gingerbread update. If you check the droid boards there also seeing the same issue after the update. When I was on Froyo it worked perfect but every since the update random screen lag keyboard starts typing the Q instead of the letter that I am pressing. I have read board after board and everybody is complaining about this I am still looking for that magic fix. Also once I reboot everything is fine then in day or two it starts happening again. Thanks
K we need to wrap this into one thread. I pointed one thread over to the motorola forums as I have had this issue pre gingerbread.
https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/48693
but the fact people are seeing this happening more and more when going to 2.3 I wonder if something else is going wrong.
Just a side theory. have you unlocked your bootloader etc if so which version of of the device do you have the d00 or 1100?

Just another thought did u consider having a look at the cpu usage of the device. I had a similar problem yesterday and the cpu usage by Android Media process was continuosly over 60%. Even reset couldnot fix it. Switched to CM7 hence. Maybe try a complete wipe through fastboot (in case u have unlocked the bootloader) and then installing some other rom.
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase preinstall
fastboot reboot
Or u can reflash the SBF (pudding one if u have unlocked).
Freeze and Lag Issues
Thanks again for the responses the folks at XDA are great with support. I did not unlock the bootloader I was fine with just rooting the phone and again it worked great until gingerbread came out. I also reviewed to see what was happening to the phone when it froze the CPU was running about 30 percent and maybe 20 percent of Ram was being used. So many people are having this issue that I find it hard to believe that it is a hardware issue when gingerbread seems to be causing all types of phones this issue. Again Thank You for Your Help
Thanks for the fastboot instructions but stupid question does that process only apply to a phone with a unlocked bootloader.

Yep do these instructions for unlocked bootloader only. Fastboot instructions touch a lot more than the usual data and cache partitions e.g. boot partition.
It would be safer to use Tenfar's cwm for the locked bootloader scenario to wipe data and cache partitions.

This is going to sound noobish but here goes...
I've been trying to hash this out for literally two days now, I've read dozens of threads and used the search tool as much as possible, but still haven't found an answer, if it is simple, please re-direct me because I must have missed it, but I just want to point out that I have made an effort to try myself first
I have a UK GSM HTC Evo3D unbranded - S-ON - H-BOOT-1.49.0007
It was last working seemingly properly on Thursday. I was running KingCobra3D-ICS 1.6 quite well for the past 3 weeks, then in the evening it froze whilst I was trying to take a picture and rebooted. It then proceeded to fail to load apps everytime Launcher pro tried to load (i.e. everytime it rebooted) and rebooted again, so I figured it was time to flash a new rom!
I went to revert back to LeeDrOiD 3D V5.4 which I has used before, and only stopped using to try the ICS in KingCobra3D. It seemed to install fine, but then on rebooting it gets stuck at the HTC splash screen.
I have seen various posts about how to get around this and I have tried to do the things they suggest but none so far have worked for me, they include:
Flashing another rom - Tried 3 different ones, they all hang on the same splash screen
Wiping Cache/Davlik/Factory reset - seems to have made no difference
Installing another recovery - adb returns "Failed (remote: signature verify fail)"
Relocking and unlocking again via HTC Dev method - I thought this would return my rom to stock, and it might have, but it still freezes at the splash screen
Other ones which I can't even remember!
If anyone has any more ideas to suggest, or posts to recommend and redirect me to, please do!
Thanks in advance!
Pav

Latest things I've tried:
Installing RUU_Shooter_U_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.2_Radio_10.53.9020.00_10.13.9020.08_2M_release_203403_signed.exe - Began installing, black htc screen on handset, then it gives and error.
Flashed recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.2-shooteru.img via adb - this didnt work before, but did this time, I used to have 4EXT, I'm not sure if factory resetting and installing from zip would be any different with it but I thought I'd give it a try! - it made no difference :crying:
I'm absolutely stumped as to what it could be. I've also seen posts that mention installing the original rom via RUU, but I don't know which one is mine, and the ones I've tried seem to all give errors.
Please someone help!

It may be helpful to someone else, if you were to explain how you fixed it.
Yes, it would indeed be quite helpful if you could elaborate... because this just happened to me and I'm stumped...
I followed the same exact procedure I've used other times without error...
Except that now, after LGNPST, then root, then freegee... go to restart the phone and it hangs... won't boot up. What gives?
I repeated the process and did a factory reset after LGNPST back to stock, since I noticed (oddly enough) that all my apps were still there after LGNPST (full, to 100%)...
Still no luck...
EDIT-- Can't for the life of me figure this effing thing out. LGNPSTed I don't know how many times... with factory reset, without... I've tried fully relocking and unrooting the device... both through the FreeGee app *and* manually through adb... no error mssgs, double-checked... everything followed to the letter. There's only one constant each time: Once I've re-unlocked the bootloader (either with the app or through adb)... the phone is basically softbricked... once I turn the power off, it is A) not possible to boot into the stock rom, B) not possible to access fastboot menu, and C) not possible to boot into recovery. The only thing it *is* possible to do is get into download mode... and from there I'd just have to LGNPST again, but what's the point, because once I've done that and tried to unlock again, I already know what's coming. Never been this frustrated with a phone before, any help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT 2-- No luck. LGNPSTed to stock once more, and factory reset, because yet again, all my apps were still intact... idk. Anyways, decided to do some hunting around with adb, and "adb reboot recovery" produced an error screen... the android lying on his back with case open... am I to assume this means there is a problem with my recovery partition that could be causing my difficulties... or would one expect to see this screen when trying to access recovery on the stock phone?

Honestly I don't know how it was resolved. I lgpnsted and rooted and unlocked the bootloader like 5 times.I got into recovery a few times but then got the same problem two more times. The last time I got into recovery I managed to flash a custom kernel and everything was fine from then on. I just don't understand how this problem is caused or even how it is truly fixed.

But actually, I'm just glad that I'm not the only one this has happened to...because if this error is reproducible, it can probably be fixed... so that's good. Thanks for your replies!

Yes, I know, I've had that same thought. I think I've done what you did... LGNPSTing and unlocking etc... but even as I try like hell, I haven't been able to get back into recovery even once.

There have been a small number of phones that will not unlock with standard freegee. They can be unlocked but it is riskier, you would need to talk to Shelnutt in irc.

Our phones successfully unlocked with freegee originally but some error caused us to lose access to the bootloader and corrupt whatever ROM we were on and then cause errors where we could use free gee but run into problems. In my situation the problem was resolved somehow and free gee worked fine afterwards

I'll try and post how I fixed it, but it is recovery related. I'm also working on another way to reset our phones without using LGNPST, but I've been really busy. I'm close though and I believe it will be easier and faster.

I'm still at work but I read most of the post and will try to see if there is a work around

Thank you guys! I'm willing to try anything at this point. I appreciate it. And droidiac... this phone could really use a quick, easy, and reliable way to completely reset back to 100% stock, so that sounds exciting!

I just picked up a new laptop today so it's going to be a while unless it goes well.

Just for the sake of documentation, I made a little log of my most recent attempt at getting back into the fastboot menu... obviously it's convoluted, but hey... sometimes experimentation gets results. This time, however, it did not... still no luck.
LGNPST back to stock
factory reset from settings->backups
run root exploit
restore original backups from first time freegeeing via adb using carrett's method
reboot
full unroot from SU app
factory reset
LGNPST to stock
re-run root exploit
reboot
re-unlock with freegee script (adb)
disconnect cable
reboot
(right here is the failure. after running "power off and reboot" from the power button menu, phone shuts off. it tries to start up, then i get a quick flash of the LG logo, straight to a backlit black screen that hangs indefinitely. only thing possible from here is to enter download mode.)
Back to the drawing board...
Same here

Just for documentation and in case I can help solving this, I am having the same problem, I explain my case with more detail on the FreeGree Thread, but pretty much I am on the same ship as you, I have tried after LGNPST, with and without factory reset, with the Google Play application and with the desktop application, but same result, black screen after restart.
I have a brand new phone, picked it less than a week ago, could LG have changed something? bootloader/recovery partition sizes? something?
I am still within the 14 days period and as much as I like the phone, if I can't bootloader unlock, means I will be stuck on stock ROM, and that is something I don't want... might as well go and change it for a different phone, or sell it and get a nexus 4...
I get same.thing. black screen after freegee. Its two days old. So now what!?

How does this happen from a random stock ROM. I think I was using nocturnals ROM and how was the problem resolved through multiple flashes?
