I was debating on which rom to install, i'm currently on rc4a. And then i was wondering what are your favorite roms? Here are the choices
Latest Saurom Rom ( version 7 i think)
Saurom rc4a ( i know some people like this stable version)
Stock rom
The unofficial
The NEW ICS stock
DAGr8 ICS stock rom
Waiting for ics aosp
I hope this will also help some others decide what rom to try first
Im also on rc4a. Tried unofficial and collective but im a goLauncher fan so collective didnt work out with me. Rc4a definitely fullfills my needs and is quite feature-rich. Waiting on a tweaked bug-free ICS rom

For some reason Saurom never really played nice with my phone. Love the ROM, though.
I ended up going with The Unofficial. Works great on my phone with GO Launcher.

The unoffical is my favorite gb rom so far. It works great right out of the box and is very smooth.
Souroum looks nice and has some nice built in customization features but its a bit more work to get setup. I just don't like having to do extra work to setup apns.
Right now I'm running ICS and other than the persistent keyboard notification in the title bar when I type and the higher battery drain, I love it. The s pen is so much more responsive now.

Same here with The Unofficial and Go Launcher. If it wasn't so smooth, I'd have given in to messin with the ICS leak. Think I'll give it awhile and see what the fine devs here do with that before I switch.

yea, i just hate messing around with the alpha/beta releases. I used to do that all the time back in the day, but i'm kind of over it. i can wait. lol but not long!
I am a fan of go launcher as well, and I'm waiting a bit until the bugs are worked out of ICS.
I'm running Saurom the latest version with go launcher and setCPU on lagfree/or smartassv2.
I get a full days battery life and smooth performance

I guess I have flashed every Rom that's came out for the note since it was officially released. One Rom that was left out of the poll was TPC v2 GB Rom. That besides DaG/ICS is my favorite on the GB side. I am going to stay where I am at right now anyway. Just checked my Odin Counter and i'm sitting at 22, and that's not counting all the CWM flashes I have done. I really don't mind alpha / beta testing as long as it helps get a good product in the end.

Still on TPC v.2 with OC kernel.
I kept hoping he would return from the dead and release v.3. Now that ICS is out Ill wait for a little more stable release and go to that.
I've also flashed every Rom. Including the ICS ones we have now. Favorite is still the unofficial.

Each rom has it's own pluses and minuses to each but my favorite is the unofficial as well. I use ADW-ex with the ICS theme. No bugs I've found and battery life for me has been great. But everyone has their own preferences and the devs have been really great on all roms.

Nice to hear your guys opinion. I went ahead and made the jump to DAGr8s alpha 2 ics. And im really diggin it. Working great! (with a little lag here and there)
The latest Saurom here. I ran the Unofficial for about 30 minutes and I find it's UI modifications to be pretty ugly, which is pretty much a deal breaker for me.
Saurom ICS right now but really waiting for CM9
Just curious why you didnt include Solaris Prime?
I have been trying out several different ICS ROMs on my phone for the last few months. Never had a GB custom ROM. I was on stock UCKK6 which came with my phone and then went on to the ICS roms.
I have tried almost all of the SGH-i777 custom ROMS - and MIUI as well.
Out of curiosity I decided to go back to Gingerbread so flashed UnOriginal ROM.
First thing I noticed - Damn this is smooth. Everything - browser, launcher, touch response - everything is smooth like a baby's butt.
So whats going on with ICS? why dont we have the same smooth experience on any of the ICS roms. Is it because the official source code has not been released yet? or is it resource heavy compared to GB?
Do not want to start a ROM comparison but just curious. Having moved back to GB I am not sure I am missing anything critical from ICS. Others might not share this opinion but this is what it is for me and the things I use my phone for.
I am still bitten by the flash bug - so will continue to try out the ICS ROMs.
What do all of you think about moving back to GB and the pros/cons? What ICS feature will you miss the most? Please share your thoughts!
<puts flame suit on>
I'm about ready to go that route myself... Becoming frustrated when I find a "perfect" ROM, only to have the wlan_rx wakelock come back and drain my battery into nothingness. My favorite GB is Shishir's - Fairly stock, but with some nice tweakability, and have never run into the same battery probs.

It is a personal choice.
In here, in this world, whole universe, no one forces you to do what you don't want to.
Once in a while, I still heard some people saying "Windows 3.1 is so much better than Windows 7".
It is purely your choice so no need to put the flame on.
It's good that seeing you in fact trying out a few different ROMs and finally made the decision on your own.
That's a good sign for all of us.
I've had the same experience as well. I'm not so sure if it's issues with the roms but more with the Kernels. There is a lot involved to tune the kernels just right. I'm no developer but I believe ICS may just be a little more complex this GB.... or at lease ICS is not so forgiving.... I'm not developer so who knows.
On a side note, I just tried the PARANOIDANDROID v1.1 port so far this has been on the same level as smoothness as any GB rom I've ran. Link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660974
I even found a port for my SGS Captivate and wow.... its 10x better then the GB rom. So this rom has something going on that I'm going to keep testing out. You may want to give it a try as well.
Im still on unnamed and ics has a few system changes like scrolling and touch screen responsiveness that make it how it is

Of all the ICS ROMs I have tried - I thought Shishir ICS and Serendipity 9 were the smoothest - however that might be partly due to the SGS3 launcher.

Binnacle is also damn smooth. That was my personal favorite GB rom.
Every time I flash an ICS rom, I immediately go running back to GB. Maybe it's just me being impatient and not letting things "settle in", but most ICS roms I've tried aren't as quick and smooth, and that just gives me an anxiety attack

I did try Binnacle Beta 7 yesterday. I did not realize it had android 2.3.6. I somehow like the bounce effect in 2.3.4 that the UnOriginal ROM offers. Hate the glow effect in 2.3.6. Also, personally I felt UnOriginal was smoother than Binnacle (no offense) - just my opinion.
I did not leave it on long enough to comment about battery life. I flashed a different ROM. Seems like I am turning into a Flashaholic (need to restrain)
My progression:
Unnamed, then MIUI then CM7 then CM9. Doubt I'll ever leave CM9.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
I've been using CM9 for 4-5 weeks now, and I like it. It's nearly perfect, but the rotation and camera bugs aren't exactly deal breakers for me, though I would like to have full use of my phone. CM9 just got an update, but CM7.2 is updated almost daily, and I suppose everything works due to the Gingerbread drivers being available. Plus, Gingerbread uses fewer resources. It's not overclocked, but I imagine in running at 1GHz it gets better battery life.
So just wondering what the Photon/Electrify users think, and a poll for nice statistics.
I was using cm9 as my daily for many months. When the newness wore off I started experimenting with other roms including cm7. And I must stay, after using cm7, cm9 seems to feel very sloppy and forced. This is no fault of joker, just the current tools he is given. Cm7 is absolutely a dream and is leaps and bounds more customizable than cm9 in its current iteration. You'll find that everything works without flaw and that battery is much better. All in all, if you need to be on the bleeding edge, run cm9. If you want full functionality and everything to just work, run cm7.

Thanks for the input. That's all very helpful. I love the hell outta ICS/CM9 and I have it set up nice, but I'm going on vacation in a couple months, and, while I'd like to show off ICS, stability and fluidity will be more important, as well as battery life.
And no, I don't wanna knock Joker either, he does great work, I'm just not sure if I'm a bleeding edge kind of guy. Part of me is (the whole geek thing) but another part of me wants something that just works. I'll get something that's risky and cool (Paranoid Android in tablet mode, for example) and then I'll go back to something safe. Actually using Paranoid Android in phone mode right now. I like the centered (yes, iPhone-like) clock.
I like CM9 but the camera stuff is a deal breaker for me. I've used the CM7/2.3.5 hybrid from peetr. It's smooth, fast, battery-sipping, and wonderful. I love the 1080p video camera. I tried overclocking it (you can do that with CM7 roms, by the way), but I didn't really notice a difference in speed, and it seems just a bit unstable. I think the biggest difference people notice in speed with overclocking, other than benchmarks, is the fact that they don't have a bunch of apps and settings slowing their phone down when they first load a new ROM, so of course it seems faster than what they were just working with.

Jellybean will be less stable than cm9 and hellaless stable than cm7 for a while. Try to remember that it's taken joker months of hard work to make cm9 this stable on a gingerbread kernel and components from other devices. Jellybean is exciting, but it's a generally small update that is meant to fix bugs and introduce a couple new apps. The problems we have with cm9 (lack of libs, kernel) will still exist.

I'm pretty sure Butter will require working drivers to work properly, so as excited as I am to see a JB port to our Photons, I doubt it'll be nearly as smooth as it seems until we get proper drivers =/.
I'm currently on CM 7.2 and loving it, but will move over to CM9 once we get some leaked drivers/kernel from Motorola. Joker does some great work, and it's impressive to see how much is working on ICS without those bits from Moto.
I agree. I am using Cm7 because it is stable. I really like Cm7 but am ready to move back to a more stable CM9.

Was gonna wait for the official ICS update for the thunderbolt but after 4months and numerous rumors not panning out im going to root and flash a rom any suggestions for the best daily driver ????
But browsing and reading up a little but still confused on whats available??? Would love to try jelly bean but i can settle for ICS
Battery life, speed and stability are the important points for a daily driver
Whats you suggestions????
I know I'm gonna regret it as soon as i root and flash the official update will probably come out but i remember when i first rooted my OG droid I never went back so what you guys suggest??? also next upgrade will probably be taking the nexus 4 to straight talk but wanna get a few more months out of my Thunderbolt u would think HTC would want to keep the customers that run out and bought the first 4G device but i guess all they really care about is our money.

If you're looking for an ICS build there really is no amazing one yet, but Liquid's is the best you will find with Nusense a close second. My personal recommendation for a daily driver though is Thundershed, or any of the roms from reds. I am running ikream nosense and enjoy it a bit. There is also the sense based offering of it both are pretty nice. Depending on what rom you go with there are kernels and things like that to pick up from there.
If you want something bug free i recommend Skyraider zeus 1.3. Thats what im using with the lean kernel. Its very smooth. Plus there is a sweet ics theme for it. Throw in halo launcher aswell and you pretty much have the complete look and feel of ics and bug free. Everything works perfect on this rom

Proving again that all Thunderbolts are different, don't know why, but each responds differently to different ROMS.
To the OP, remember! Flashing is cheap, don't hesitate to try several ROMs before deciding on one you like.
I lean toward the NuSense but battery life isn't quite what I need... <sigh>
Another hearty recommendation for SkyRaider 1.3.
I've been evaluating lots of other ROMs and radio combos. Nothing has been as solid a daily driver as SkyRaider Zeus.
I'm really working at using Twisted's AOKP ICS, but my Bolt doesn't love it. I keep getting data hangs, and have to reset the radios via Airplane mode off/on.
And the leaked Sense ICS was way too battery hungry for me.

LiquidSmooth 3.2:good: with the .19 radio. It has been my daily driver for almost a year now. Way better than any current ICS rom for the mecha. No problems, everything works. And it all works plenty fast enough.
If you really want a solid ROM with everything working great, Sky Raider is excellent. Especially since I like having a good camera and video camera. Nice to have everything work perfectly. I love AOSP, it is very fast, but you don't get the same functionality (dont get me wrong it is very close, but small things like camera are just not quite as good) you do with Sense. I hate sense but skyraider really is a great ROM

You should check out Twisted's new rom. I haven't had any problems with it and it's the smoothest rom I've had in awhile.
So can anyone give me a rundown on the differences on these ROM's? I've seen Liquid 3.2, Thundershed, and Skyraider mentioned here. Which are Sense based and which are AOSP. Are the Sense based Rom's laggy? I've tried NuSense, and it was a nice ROM, but just too laggy for my taste. I've tried Jesters and Twisted's 11-7 version of Liquids ICS ROM, and they've been great, but I'm having too many bluetooth issues which will interfere with work so it's a no go if I can't simply turn on the bluetooth and let it connect.
I understand flashing is supposed to be quick and easy so just try them all, but it seems to take me several hours to get everything backed up, flashed, and put back the way I like it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have only used LiquidSmooth 3.2. It is a Gingerbread AOSP. Any Sense ROM tends to be very laggy on either of my Thunderbolts. And all of the ICS ROM's seem to have at least one problem or another that keeps it from being my daily driver(bluetooth, wifi, camera or camcorder especially!)
It all depends on what you can and can't live without on a DD. Most of the Gingerbread ROMS's shouldn't have many, if any, issues. Some may be slightly slower than others and look different but all should make a good DD. The current ICS ROM's for the mecha are extremely fast, but usually lack in the camcorder or wifi department.
This thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1905083 has most of the ROM's linked(except LiquidSmooth3.2 Not sure why all the links to it were removed, Liquid is the Man tho and gotta respect his decision)

My fallback is in my signature, I like it cause it's tweakable and just works.
Infection has been great, especially now that video tearing is a thing of the past.

i can say that most of the rom out there with enuf good feedback are very good
also with a bit of modding it can be better
based stock roms are most stable around
the ported roms that i can say near perfect are joel and suli really good coding and work done there maybe there more i didnt tried
MIUI suli's rom is very stable and fast that i tried for now
cm9 is kinda stable but not perfect
AOSP CM10 didnt have yet enuf experience
[ROM][CDMA/GSM][JB-4.2.2] Official XenonHD - RC [05.23.13][LINARO 13.04]
Been running so smooth. Unbelievable battery life. Not one reboot or lockup.
Surprisingly enough my absolute favorite rom of all-time:
For the Rezound:
Xtreme Outcast's v3.0 - The ORIGINAL desensed rom. Runs so much like an AOSP rom but you can tell it's desensed. For those who wish to try it (Use Go SMS/Handcent for texts)

For a different device:
Tied between Steel Droid & Sourcery for the Moto Droid1 (sholes)

PS: Yes I do still use the OG from time to time
So a good buddy over on chargeforums is sending me his old rezound with the Infection Rom on it. What do you guys think of it? The Charge has two Roms currently, and one coming, but the devs were limited due to how Samsung locked the ril (Radio Interface Layer) which prevented the devs from getting any sort of netutils and limiting what could be done.
HTC on the other hand, didn't, so I'm pretty excited to see what all you guys have. I may start asking questions once I get the phone, but for now I just wanted to see what you all thought if the Rom.

For the Rez, I love PAC personally, I like having ALL of the custom options!
Infection seems pretty popular too.

Me too! It's funny loading up the JB rom on that old of a device, but I mostly ran with Steel Droid on it.
I keep my OG Droid in my car, which was awfully convenient when my Rez got stolen, I had a fully operational phone in an hour!
I was a fan of the liberty series for DX/d2.

My Rezound has been on CM9 most of its life, and I just can't find anything else that even compares.
Ineffabilis 1.4 I believe it was a sense 3.6 rom.
ROM was loaded and probably one of the few that never gave me any problems.
@zourn
Its the only non tablet device i found with a honeycomb port lol
@Sutanrei
Sense 3.5; even though i liked that ROM. Still didn't stand out for me.

if it was for any device. i would say Redemption Rom for the incredible. On the rezound i would have to say its CM10.1
Ineffabilis Deus v1.2
I always landed back on it after trying every other ROM until CM10.1 Its almost a year old and every bit as good as it was the day it dropped.
Neo's INFECTION is great. Previously I would say version 2.3, but my favorite has to be his 2.6 Inverted Dev Edition.
Well I finally have the phone, and it came loaded with Infection 2.3 which I immediately upgraded to 2.6. I'm loving this phone! I haven't tried any other Roms or kernels yet though. I know this is probably asked a lot but, if all the big ROMs are AOSP based, how are they different? I cave from a phone with two ROMs and both had pretty big differences. Is it just the tweaks, or are there major differences that I just didn't see while reading through them?
