HI All,
I have the Galaxy s3 in white, 32gb bought in Hongkong, that where I am.
I cant connect the phone to my PC via USB. I took one phone back already confirmed as broken in the store and replaced, i tested the replacement in the store and it worked, i.e. connected to the PC, now back at home I cant connect this new model.
My wife has the same exact phone, and hers connects fine, as in PMP mode, no Kies involved.
We are both running andriod 4.1.1 everything is identical except for the build number, mine ends with ZSDLK2, her's is ZSDLK4.
Develop options and debuggin are off, everything is normal.
Does anyone have any suggestions as it pretty annoying right now.
I did get the phone connected wirelessly via Kies, however then that program decided to crash and has done each time since. We are on Win7 64bit by the way. All our PCs accept my wifes phone but not mine, at one point my phone was charging via the USB, it looks as though it has stopped doing that as well now, so I might have a dead phone on my hands soon.
Thanks,

Hello,
Its been barely a day that I have purchased X10, came with the stock 2.1 version. I have tried everything I could to try to get the darned WiFi work with my laptop and it just refuses to. I make a WiFi connection, it says "Not in range.." when the laptop which has WiFi is sitting 2 inches away from the phone.
Sometimes, it won't scan. Other times, it will scan and disconnect. And then, I saw it as "connecting.." "disconnected". On the other hand, it has managed to reboot 5 times on its will. I just took the thing out of its box, like seriously?
And I've searched everywhere, no particular help. I have even done a "repair" from PC Companion. No use.

Where are you located? I did have this problem while in Europe a while back. I was not able to connect no matter what i tried. It was something to do with the MAC filtering. So in a nutshell you were not able to connect toy our wireless network? hmm Have you tried the handset in say a coffee shop or at a friends place?
I am in Islamabad, Pakistan. I came over to a friends, and here my laptop picks up the WiFi signal in the house, but the phone fails to do anything. And back at my place, when I make a WiFi connection, other phones do find it, but X10 seems to have lost all self-esteem, and its driving me nuts.:/

seems to me you need return it for another unit. Very odd. being a day or 2 old no problem.
I wish I could have been more help but you have clearly tried all you can!
good luck
Hmm, thank you. I will do that tomorrow.
I figured it just doesn't connect to ad hoc. When I tried connecting at the center on the router, it worked.
I found on these forums a way to edit some file to make it find ad hoc networks, but I can not even find that directory, let alone the file. Can anyone tell me how to do that?
And finally, my phone has restarted 7 times just today. Should I get it changed with another piece?
you need to root the phone to acess the desired directory
Hey, thank you. I did read about rooting in the past days here but it is something that I don't want to do, I hear it voids the warranty?
And yes, I got the phone set changed with another piece. This one has not restarted once, even after the 2.1 update. Thats a relief.
After I upgraded mine to 2.1, I had the exact same issue. I thought I had screwed something up during the upgrade... so I flashed it again and STILL had the problem.
After a couple of hours screwing around with my phone, I rebooted my wireless router and it connected right away and I haven't had any issue with it since.
Did anyone try tethering with the new firmware to BlackBerry? Any changes. I want to try it out, but no BB here since it bricked. Waiting for a new one from my company.
tried through USB, system gets the DUN, but gets no internet connection.
T-Mobile the Netherlands with a Bold9700 on OS6.0.0.413
Same. I get the DUN, but same Unable to Connect error. Bold 9700 os5
I tried with my 8110 Pearl, and it worked fine. I got the unable to connect error, but I restarted both devices (battery pull on bb) and it started to work. However, I had to restart both devices again if I wanted to re-tether. Hope that works for you.
Although on a side note, tethering works much easier on my other phone, a Sony Ericsson TM717. It just connects by PAN, and away I go.

Right so I got the Galaxy S3 1st week of June. I received an OTA update last 26th of June and was able to successfully install latest version then (I9300XXALF6 Vietnam). No problems with it. On July 8, I was able to successfully update the S3 to another firmware via Kies (I9300XXBLFB Vietnam). No issues, loved the brightness feature and other extra goodies that came with it.
Here's the problem:
When I woke up this morning though (July 12), I noticed that I was still connected to the Router but could not actually use the internet (I checked my old Galaxy S I9000, the I9000 was still able to use the net). So I decided to fiddle with the S3's toggle switch off and then on. This time, I could no longer connect to the router and I was told that there was an Authentication Error. The router was in the next room so I tried to SIT IMMEDIATELY BESIDE IT, and to my surprise, I am now able to connect to the network. I return to my room and BAM, I get disconnected. I return to the other room where the router was, stand next to it, attempt to reconnect, and BAM, it's back! I tried to turn off the power saving option via the dialer but it didn't seem to change anything. I was hoping that this could be related to the firmware update and have decided to flash an older firmware. Anyone experience this, too? Could use some help. I don't plan to sit beside the router every time I want to use WiFi. Thanks.
Edit: So flashed back to I9300XXALF6 Vietnam firmware but to no avail. Tried rooting and putting in CM9, didn't help either. I read somewhere that this is actually a hardware problem for the S3 (which not all S3's apparently have and something that Samsung has not admitted to) so I'll try to have this replaced..no longer sure if I should replace this with another S3 or move on to the Nexus. =/

Alright, here I go.
Yes, I searched the forum, and I can't wrap my head around this at all, so I'm just going to throw my specs out and hope for the best.
- T-mobile Samsung Vibrant Galaxy S T-959
- NOT unlocked...although I'm not sure, the phone seems to try and pick up AT&T but it's labeled as a Tmobile phone
- Using a Tmobile SIM (brand new replacement, works on other phones just fine)
- Rooted and Flashed to Hellybean Stable 15.11.12
- Generic IMEI (004999010640000)
Whenever I rebooted the phone after root/flash a week and a half ago, it would give me the IMEI mismatch warning but everything worked fine. It was only this afternoon that I jumped on the bus, took out my phone, and suddenly could not connect to any mobile network at all. I've restarted and cried and sat in a corner and now I don't know. It connects to Wifi just fine and that's how I've been getting by, but it'd be nice to text/sms again...
I kept running into this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30644270&postcount=116
But it makes no sense to me. Copy it to what folder? Where is /efs? I only have one /efs folder and it's in /sdcard/backup.
Before I return to stock and try to flash all over again, I want to try and fix this.
The same thing happened to me today!
I don't know what is going on. I flashed another modem but the problem is not solved.
I'll try Odin back to stock but it is not seeing my phone. That's another problem anyway.
I'll let you know if I get it to work.
Ok, it works now, but I still don't know if it was the generic IMEI or something else.
I went back to stock and it automatically connected so I could make calls and use internet. This also restored my IMEI
Then I rooted and installed CM7 and then Slim Bean and now everything works as usual with my restored IMEI.
Here you have all you need for Odin: http://www.team-passion.com/index.php/wiki/general/15-how-to-use-odin-for-vibrant

Ahh shucks. Don't want to hijack your thread, but now my Vibrant is having connection problems too :crying:
It all happened when I let a friend borrow my phone to use his SIM card. It was a simple mobile SIM card and a day later when I tried to make a call, I got a "not registered on network" when I tried to make a call.
I was running bionix-v fishman so I odined back to stock to make sure it wasnt a ROM issue, and still have the same problems.
I still have a IMEI working and I can still get bars, but cant make any calls whatsoever. Not even emergency calls.
So back to my very old Motorola Backflip. But I can't seem to wonder how this happened when my friend used his sim card. So I know the problem is not my SIM card because it works on my older phone.
I'm still using the very old full SIM-card that is at least 2-years old and not the newer ones. Because my friend's SIM was brand new, you think that may have to do its the problem?
Any help appreciated. Heres a similar thread to my problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890353
Okay, this went from bad to worse to a nightmare.
My friend tried the Odin then back to Hellybean for me, and nothing changed at all.
So I went into recovery mode and tried to restore from an old system restore point.
After loading that my phone was permanently stuck on the Vibrant SAMSUNG screen.
I hunted around and found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15330252
After a few tries I managed to get it into download mode and tried it, nothing changed.
Except now that I've moved on and tried to use Odin to just unroot it won't even go into recovery or download mode, it gets stuck on this screen:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BDDLnUcCMAEqvkQ.jpg
or just the Vibrant start screen.
helpppp

OK I'm going to use ur thread. I rooted my sgs1 seven hours after I got it. When it was a new phone. Have been running all kinds of roms. Somewhere along the line I lost my backup. But it was never really a problem. My imei is generic and couldn't make 911 calls but no worries there. I was running 4.2.2 something something using my phone. Then my battery was running low so I switched it with another and when it booted up no signal from that point on. I put my sim in my old g1 and it works. Put my wife's sim in my phone and a no go. Everything works wifi Bluetooth usb .....except won't connect to t mobile. I Odin back to stock and no luck. Imei still generic. Called tmobile no help at all. Funny thing is though it won't let me connect it shows I have a voicemail so its sending a signal and receiving one. I think if I had a way to put a new imei on it I would be OK. Another funny thing is my imei is the same number as the one posted above. So thinking it got picked up and blocked and that's why i m not getting service. I love this phone and would like to fix it if I can.does anyone have any ideas.

Hello XDA,
I had purchased and used this HTC M9 since its release many years ago, until I converted to a Pixel when the phone launched, and I have nothing but fond memories of it. My sister-in-law is special needs and needs a phone in case of emergencies, and I offered to give my old M9 to her. The recovery and rom are custom, and when my wife took the phone to the Sprint store, they did manage to find a sim card (it involved the rep going to his car to dig through a box of old sim cards) they were unable to completely activate the phone because of the custom stuff on it. It is my understanding, according to their support website, that it requires an update to the data profile. Does anybody know how to do this?
I've also struggled with it for about an hour just trying to get it to connect to my PC via USB debugging. It is enabled on the phone, MTP is enabled, its connected, and drivers are on my Windows 10 PC through HTC Sync.
Help on those instances is greatly appreciated,
Thanks
