Hi everyone,
I've been searching the forums high and low for days to see if there is a 100% free method to enable the use of the Xperia x10a with any carrier, but I haven't found one. I was able to do this last night with my Samsung Galaxy GT-I9000M (Canadian version of Vibrant) using only freely available software and following a few steps... but I didn't pay a cent for it. I'm a strong believer in being able to do software modification free of charge as long as you're looking in the right places for your information. :cyclops:
That being said, is anyone here able to point me in the direction of a software-only process of "SIM unlocking" the Xperia x10a similar to that of Galaxy phones?
Regards
There is a guide abt all this on the flashtool thread.. look there. It points u to relevant sim unlocking methods etc..

Hi, ive rooted my xperia x10, however, I want to unlock my xperia x10 from orange, is there anyway to radio s-off my phone so I could unlock the sim?
You cannot unlock this phone, by the way you have mentioned before.
I think you are thinking about the HTC Desire method?
Orange will provide you with the unlock code for £15 provided the contract is over 6 months old. Not sure if they will do it for phones aquired from elsewhere (ebay ect) but give them a call anyway. They can only tell you to piss off.

your best bet is to get the unlock code from your network provider if you are out of contract!
I want to unlock my ATRIX so I can sell it to anyone in the gsm network.
How do I get the unlock code without paying some website?
Is there an app for this or pc program you can recommend?

I've heard u can call the provider but I paid $2 on eBay and got one.
I don't want to pay because I go through so many phones I would have to pay every 3-4 months for the unlock code.
I don't think the carrier would give me so many unlock codes a year.

If you bought your phone from a carrier, call the carrier, tell them you are going out of the country on vacation/business, and need the unlock code. They should give it to you with no problems.
If you bought from another source, do what the other poster said.
That's my problem...... I bought it off ebay with no contract.
I go through 4 phone s a year. Hoped someone could hook me up with a program that did it or I can buy and use over and over for each phone.

He was talking about SIM unlocking, not bootloader unlocking.
there's no free SIM unlocking program AFAIK, if the code is not from your carrier.
I don't need it be free. I just need a program to buy and use it for any gsm phone I get to unlock it.

I believe the SIM unlock code is per phone (the code for each phone is different). I saw someone posted some reputable web sites before, search for it.
He's each code is based on the manufacture and the IEMI number.
Just thought I could get an application for under $150 that has all the manufacturers and IEMIs on a database.
Just didn't want to pay and find a reputable website for each phone manufacturer.

Thanks. I will try my carrier - since its not bought from them I might not be granted this but I will stress I have been public valued customer for 7yrs with 3line. Might get me the code.
If not I will use your link. Thanks.
My main goal is to unlock this and throw it on eBay as an unlocked phone with no contract and mention root. This should allow the phone to sell for a higher price.
Thanks for all your help.

Hy!
I know there are hundreds of thousands of topics about this, but I can't find the real answer...
Is there a free way to unlock the SIM card lock on X10 Mini Pro, and use it with another carrier? (Mine is locked to vodafone, but I want to give it to my T-Mobile friend.)
Thanks for any help and solutions!
And please don't blame me for opening a new topic, I'm searching for the solution about 3 hours.

Omnius I think is the best way. You can't unlock your bootloader after using it though. Otherwise just ring up vodafone and ask them for the unlock code

But Omnius isn't free. Is there any free solution? Something like rooting...

If you had the phone on contract, vodafone should give you the unlock-code for free after the initial contract-period, at least, that's how it usually works. It's the best way to sim-unlock your phone.
Searching for Vodafone Smart mini unlock codes or a way to crack it on my own.
stedapa pears
Is it allowed to bump thread on xda? :cyclops:
bumping threads is usually seen as offensive around these corners.

My little brother bought a Vodafone Smart Mini while he was on vacation in Portugal. It's his first Smartphone. The catch is, the vodafone lady told him he needs to unlock it before being able to use it. The way the lady suggested it, it should be really easy to do. The problem is that I've been googling my ass off and just don't find anything worthwhile. There are "unlock codes" that I simply need to type in with the SIM card I want to use, but these codes are all behind some kind of weird paywall. So right now, he can't use his german SIM card in his new smartphone.
Does anybody have any experience with this? Me and my brother would be really grateful.

Make sure your phone is compatible with the carrier you want to be with, if not you'll be better keeping your money in your wallet

Maybe I was not that clear, doesn't matter the phone name IF the phone does work on the same frequency and does not use the same technology (gsm, cdma, lte, etc) as your carrier it simply won't work even if you buy and apply it a network unlock code.

For anybody stumbling across this thread in the future:
I bought for 1 Euro a Unlock Code on eBay. 10 Minutes later I got the code and everything works fine now. I'll suggest you do the same if you have a buck to spare.
