I have an unbranded S3,that I bought from Amazon and when I put in *#1234# it shows the CSC as unknown. Is this normal?
If not what can I do?

The easiest solution for a new device is a factory reset. It should resolve itself when it reboots and flashes the stock CSC it shipped with. If that does not resolve it, then reflashing the ROM (or any appropriate stock ROM) should do so. You can find info on it by searching. I've even discussed this recently in the Q&A section myself, as I encountered a similar problem recently by using Mobile Odin and not allowing the CSC to flash due to a custom recovery being installed.
It's not a brand new device, have had it around 2 months. I installed jb 4.1.1 that I got from Sammobile using odin.
I've never noticed any problems, will the phone be ok or is it something I need to sort?
Am planning on wiping all data and installing 4.1.2 btu from Sammobile tomorrow.

I have upgraded my phone to the unofficial jelly bean release which changed my startup screen to show GT-I9300 rather than GT-I9300T.
I have now downgraded back to the official Vodafone AU ICS 4.0.4 ICS firmware but the startup screen is still showing GT-I9300.
How do I flash the startup screen to show GT-I9300T on the very first screen that appears when you turn the device on?

Are you sure u have flashed the correct
Aus firmware? Do you still have root? Try a factory reset

Boot screen is part of the firmware. Params file if you want to search more.

I also have the i9300T and have flashed numerous custom and stock i9300 firmwares (cwm only). When the phone boots it still shows as i9300T before the boot animation kicks in, but in settings / about device it shows as an i9300.
Initially I found it odd because on my previous S2 model T it changed to i9100 when I flashed international firmware on it.
Maybe something has changed with JB firmware.

You have to factory reset from the phone but it will format the internal sdcard

I used ODIN 3.07 to Flash the firmware via the PDA field.
I always do a backup of my data to my External SD Card and then do a factory format via CWM and clear cache before installing firmware.
The firmware file i used is from samfirmware: I9300TDUALF2_VAUALF2_Australia_Vodafone_Android_4.0.4.zip.
Don't you get your root back when you flash original firmware to the phone?
I have a feeling because I used JB 4.1.1 International it changed the boot screen?
Is there a manual way to change it back using the params file?
No you dont get root you will have to root again. Go into settings backup and reset then do a factory reset. I think that will erase internal sdcard tho.

I've tried searching for the params file but dont seem to find much info on it. I've also watched if the file is flashed when using in odin but I cannot see it like I have in previously when flashing my SG1.
I have completed factory reset using the option under security and via CWM.
Can anyone please provide me with more information to point me in the right direction as I do want to restore it looking like factory?

Were you able to solve the problem? Was just wondering what you did for the boot-up to show I9300 instead of I9300T. I have flashed dozens of ROM, official and AOSP, but mine always showed I9300T. I have the I9300T and I want it to show I9300 instead. Your problem is what I want. LOL. How ironic.
Just as the title says. I have a contract sgs 3 but haven't got the update and I can only find people who have got the update. I'm wondering if anyone else hasn't got it yet, like me? Starting to think something's up with my phone.
Try it on Kies maybe? I just flashed the firmware through odin.

I can do it though odin if needed, I just wondered why I hadn't got the ota yet. Cheers for the reply though.
Can I ask what your CSC is set to. I am on Three and went back to stock to see if I could get the official update. I set my CSC to BTU and connected to Kies, when it finished with the update I was still on 4.0.4. I got the phone on contract with three but through Carphone Warehouse
Carphone warehouse phones are unbranded uk csc btu.

Have you flashed a wrong firmware or root package?
Sounds a bit odd that the IMEI would get wiped with just a factory reset.
Her kid had the phone when she got it back it was acting funny (her words not mine) so she brought it to me and I did a factory reset and sent her on her way to have her return with it not working it wasn't until later after I tried some hard parts that I noticed the Imei and bseband was changed to unknown
I did however.notice the build number was wrong it was jz054k.i9300xxema and should be is now jz054k.i9300xxella
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Well that all depends on the region of origin of the phone. Whether it was bought locally, or bought online from a reseller.
Can you post the details displayed when you type *#1234# into the dialler?
Sometimes the IMEI can be recovered by flashing a stock firmware, sometimes it can't.
Is it stock firmware or custom?

i bricked the phone with official CM11 OTA update. i did not notice that the update was CM13. all the gapps were 11 compatible, soooo, nothing worked on the phone. after a lot of trouble (twrp boot loop included, thank you very much...), i put again CM11. to my horror, no IMEI...
tried a lot and ... even though i never thought it would work... i connected the phone via kies 3 and clicked update and now the IMEI is back.
on the down side, i am now on stock, but there was too much excitement for me with customs...
Hi, I was on cyanogen 10.2 then decided to go back to stock 4.1.2 samsung rom. ( intl Uk version) everything went fine but with 4.3 for the s3 nearly here I decided to use kies to check if there was any updates for my device, now when I plug it in it says "GT-I9300 Does not currently support upgrading" can anyone help me in fixing this issue? Ive tried updating drivers and re installing the firmware via odin but it doesn't work

Totally stock 4.3 need for GT-i9300 iv searched sammobile but there are so many I'm unsure, I'm in the UK and my device is unlocked, my problem no matter what I flash I'm getting no signal, imei and serial number intact and so is baseband thanks in advance
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Free mobile app
Try the patched kernel and modem thread, if signal is restored with both flashed then you have issues in your efs folder.
Hey just looked but its pretty confusing to me, I have efs backup but no access to computer, was planning on flashing stock through mobile Odin
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Free mobile app
In that case just flash the latest firmware, best do a full wipe including internal storage and preload first. Use Odin on a pc, mobile Odin won't flash all the partitions so you'll end up with some leftovers which might be the source of your problem.
