I don't recommend that. You should S-OFF before upgrading (unless you're extremely satisfied with being S-ON). Just run the RUU with the deivce in HBOOT (to escape your current predicament).

I have hboot 1.19 is that avle to be s-off i havent looked in a bit. And im on radio 1.12 when i try to run ruu since in running 3.15 jb build it wont let me ruu

none
You use rusty racun to get s-off, google it and you'll find it, but first run the PJ75IMG to get back to stock, then unlock the bootloader again and run rusty racun

I know how to root. RUU wasnt working with phone booted on 3.15 had to with the but all is good now thanks

[Q] HTC Unlock and HBOOT 1.50.0000

So I have question regarding HBoot 1.50.0000:
The HTC unlock method allows for a partially unlocked bootloader, allowing us to load custom ROM's. Is it possible to use the HTC method, then flash a previous Hboot like 1.30 or 1.40? I haven't seen anywhere where this has been tried, so I figured I would ask it.
~Jasecloud4
As far as I understand as long as you still have S-on it will not allow you to downgrade the bootloader. I've also searched this theory.

I have 1.50 and S-off. I asked in another thread but never got a response. Can I downgrade since I am S-off? I used Revolutionary and then mistakenly flashed the wrong file to update radios etc. Put me on hboot 1.50 but I remained S-off.

Engine h-boot and revolutionary h-boot

I currently have the eng h-boot I ran revolutionary many months ago and then flash the eng h-boot. My question is this can I flash back to the revolutionary h-boot without running revolutionary and will I lose s-off? I tried searching but I'm on the xda app and could not find what I was looking for. Thank you in advance for any help

I don't know about getting back to the revolutionary hboot, but you can get back to the hboot that's almost the exact same as revolutionary, hboot1.4, by flashing a pg86img.zip through your bootloader. If you haven't had any issues with the ENG bootloader, there's no reason to need to change it though. It's up to you.
here's a link to both the hboot1.4 and eng hboot (just choose the one you want to download, both of them are in first post) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192306

Return to stock

I am selling my Rezound today and i need to return it to its stock form. I am S-Off with ICS firmware and a different hboot. Cant remember which one. What are the steps i need to take? Do i just run the 2.01.605.11 ruu. Then put back to s-on and then relock bootloader?

I believe that should cover it, but depending on who you sell it to they're probably not going to notice s off

You didn't unlock through htcdev after you did s-off did you? If you didn't then theres no need to relock it will show locked.

No I didn't unlock. That's right. So will the next owner be able to receive ota's if I keep it s-off?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yeah as long as it has the stock recovery there shouldn't be a problem receiving ota's while s-off.
Sent From My HTC Rezound
Now what ota can I flash? Should I do the last latest gb one or the latest official ics one?

I would say go a head and flash the official ICS since it already started rolling out anyway.

S-off for hboot 2.09

Hi. If I didn't search thoroughly for a question like this, I apologize ahead of time. But I was curious if there is a way to s-off hboot 2.09 that is currently s-on?
I have not tried dirty racun yet.

Right now there isn't. That's the newest version and I doubt anyone has even begun working on finding the exploit as yet.
I was afraid you would say that.

Onlybob, go to the bars. That's the only way you'll feel okay.
Nah I'm fine, this is not urgent at all, I'm running CM10 with no issues. This is a minor setback, that's all.

I went s-on since day one after I got bored of stock and have never had any problems Tbh, I almost pity all the poor s-off folks who were too terrified to take the ota All it takes is a couple extra steps to flash anything and its been worth it so far. I preordered so I had plenty of chances to S-Off early on but I don't regret it at all.

Now s-on is not bad at all right? The only con is having to flash boot.img through fast boot when flashing a rom?

Another con is you can't update your firmware unless you relock and take the OTA or hope a recovery flashable zip comes along
So if your hboot was s-off, how is it any different than s-on? You still have to run the RUU to go back to stock then get the OTA right? Or are you talking about some other OTA?

There are Firmware zips available right now for 3.15 that can be flashed in the bootloader but you must be S-OFF to flash them.Just flash and everything is updated except hboot, kernel, and stock recovery.
Flashing those firmwares is the same as taking the OTA except for what I mentioned above

Ugh - took the OTA on an HTCdev unlocked boot loader and now it seems hboot 2.09 locks down the systems (can't update supersu binary, they locked down /system?). Now on viperboy stock rooted rom...
Hopefully they come out with an s-off technique for 2.09, need to be able to "hide" supersu/root binaries on my device...
Any news on s-off for hboot 2.09?
Hi, I'm am a noob, I got the JB update, then decided to root my phone. I am unlocked and rooted. I would like to turn s-off but my hboot is 2.09.
I am trying to flash mean bean and every time it gets to around 25%, my phone reboots. I am using twrp to try flashing it.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Or what I need to do?
Thanks again.

HBOOT 1.40 downgrade bootloop

Hello,
So at one point my EVO 3D was S-OFF, HBOOT 1.40, and running a Jellybean ROM. At one point, the rom started acting funky so I ran the Sprint ICS RUU. I rooted it, restored the data partition, and I was HBOOT 1.58 unlocked S-OFF. Yesterday I downgraded to HBOOT 1.40 using a PG86IMG.zip and then the stock ROM would not boot. I briefly saw bit of the Sprint Boot logo, then it shut down, and repeated.
What can I do to get my stock ROM booting again?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I didn't think that 1.40 hboot was compatible with jellybean, I could be wrong. you can flash another hboot then wipe cache and dalvik then give it another go

I would imagine if the ruu gave you 1.58, that's what you need for stock
1.50 and under is usually for GB, JB and some custom ICS roms

The ROM I was planning on installing was MIUI v5. I believe it is JB.
I have a Nandroid of my stock ROM, so when I want to go back I can simply flash HBOOT 1.58 again?
Then once you've changed boot, it won't boot to the stock ROM....do a full wipe and flash the jb ROM
