Hello,
So at one point my EVO 3D was S-OFF, HBOOT 1.40, and running a Jellybean ROM. At one point, the rom started acting funky so I ran the Sprint ICS RUU. I rooted it, restored the data partition, and I was HBOOT 1.58 unlocked S-OFF. Yesterday I downgraded to HBOOT 1.40 using a PG86IMG.zip and then the stock ROM would not boot. I briefly saw bit of the Sprint Boot logo, then it shut down, and repeated.
What can I do to get my stock ROM booting again?

I didn't think that 1.40 hboot was compatible with jellybean, I could be wrong. you can flash another hboot then wipe cache and dalvik then give it another go

I would imagine if the ruu gave you 1.58, that's what you need for stock
1.50 and under is usually for GB, JB and some custom ICS roms

The ROM I was planning on installing was MIUI v5. I believe it is JB.
I have a Nandroid of my stock ROM, so when I want to go back I can simply flash HBOOT 1.58 again?
Then once you've changed boot, it won't boot to the stock ROM....do a full wipe and flash the jb ROM

Hi. If I didn't search thoroughly for a question like this, I apologize ahead of time. But I was curious if there is a way to s-off hboot 2.09 that is currently s-on?
I have not tried dirty racun yet.

Right now there isn't. That's the newest version and I doubt anyone has even begun working on finding the exploit as yet.
I was afraid you would say that.

Onlybob, go to the bars. That's the only way you'll feel okay.
Nah I'm fine, this is not urgent at all, I'm running CM10 with no issues. This is a minor setback, that's all.

I went s-on since day one after I got bored of stock and have never had any problems Tbh, I almost pity all the poor s-off folks who were too terrified to take the ota All it takes is a couple extra steps to flash anything and its been worth it so far. I preordered so I had plenty of chances to S-Off early on but I don't regret it at all.

Now s-on is not bad at all right? The only con is having to flash boot.img through fast boot when flashing a rom?

Another con is you can't update your firmware unless you relock and take the OTA or hope a recovery flashable zip comes along
So if your hboot was s-off, how is it any different than s-on? You still have to run the RUU to go back to stock then get the OTA right? Or are you talking about some other OTA?

There are Firmware zips available right now for 3.15 that can be flashed in the bootloader but you must be S-OFF to flash them.Just flash and everything is updated except hboot, kernel, and stock recovery.
Flashing those firmwares is the same as taking the OTA except for what I mentioned above

Ugh - took the OTA on an HTCdev unlocked boot loader and now it seems hboot 2.09 locks down the systems (can't update supersu binary, they locked down /system?). Now on viperboy stock rooted rom...
Hopefully they come out with an s-off technique for 2.09, need to be able to "hide" supersu/root binaries on my device...
Any news on s-off for hboot 2.09?
Hi, I'm am a noob, I got the JB update, then decided to root my phone. I am unlocked and rooted. I would like to turn s-off but my hboot is 2.09.
I am trying to flash mean bean and every time it gets to around 25%, my phone reboots. I am using twrp to try flashing it.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Or what I need to do?
Thanks again.
I am on mean bean was rooted and unlocked bootloader. Locked boot loader to ruu so i could just ota and get new radios and update but now im stuck on mean bean and cant get to the custom or stock recovery(i flashes each and tried) Help!

I don't recommend that. You should S-OFF before upgrading (unless you're extremely satisfied with being S-ON). Just run the RUU with the deivce in HBOOT (to escape your current predicament).
I have hboot 1.19 is that avle to be s-off i havent looked in a bit. And im on radio 1.12 when i try to run ruu since in running 3.15 jb build it wont let me ruu

none
You use rusty racun to get s-off, google it and you'll find it, but first run the PJ75IMG to get back to stock, then unlock the bootloader again and run rusty racun

and follow each step. This DOES work with the new Hboot 2.09. I am 2.09 s-on and have done this successfully.
I know how to root. RUU wasnt working with phone booted on 3.15 had to with the but all is good now thanks

The directions on the unlimited.io website specifically state the RUU and HTC unlock as requirements and not a stock rooted ROM. I think that might have changed with a recent version of controlbear.
ramjet73
Could anyone just try a stock rooted rom to see if it works, or does anyone still have the joupunbear older version that worked with them?

Or an even easier method, if you already have recovery: install a custom rom. 99% of 'em have superusers already installed
I think its easiser to flash only subinary.zip (2 min) then rom.zip (20 min)

Hi yall,
My buddys EVO 3d is boot-unlocked with REVOLUTIONARY recovery, and I have installed superSU.
Device is still running (Stock I'm pretty sure) GB 2.3.4 with Sense 3.0
Can I just flash a Jelly Bean or ICS ROM from here? Ideally CM10.
Or do we have to do a stock upgrade to ICS.
And Can I just Flash the stock ICS from here?
Thanks

Yes u can install jb or ics custom rom.
For stock rom u must relock bootloader trough adb command "fastboot oem lock"(before relocking make sure you have status s-on) then flash ruu original file

If he upgrades to stock ics rom, he will end up with the ics hboot which will prevent him from installing any other-than-sense roms, including all jb roms.
With the hboot you have right now, you can go ahead and install any custom rom you want, including jb. Don't complicate yourself any more than needed.
Thanks, but YO>>
Actually I've tried flashing VIPER SENSE 4.1 twice tonight, and then Re-Wiped everything again and have just flashed Dirty Unicorns, but The phone wont boot all the way..
Keeps Bootlooping.
Sometimes I will get a quick glimpse of my home/lockscreen with wallpaper, then the phone INTSTANTLY goes black and bootloops again..
Can you tell me what that would mean, besides not wiping well enough ;p

Isnt Dirty Unicorns only for cdma? Be sure to get the rom you want for the phone you have. Cdma roms will not work on Gsm phones and vice versa. Try a different jb rom, I suggest pacman rom

Are you on 3.15 or 3.16??
To use this you need to be s-off: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2197909 (vipeRuu by Viperboy 3.16)
And here you can get the RUU for 3.15: http://androidfiles.org/ruu/?developer=Jewel (provided by JMZ)
That will get you back to stock unrooted... Good luck!
I'm on 3.16 and I have tried to run the 3.15 RUU and I relocked the bootloader but I just ran into errors
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
You need to s-off to run vipeRuu or follow the first steps from the s-off process before the step where you have to run baby racun and you should be stock uprooted but if you wanna get rid of the tampered/re-locked message, s-off then vipeRuu... Good Luck!
