I bought a locked orange X10 and unlocked it with a code so I could use my tmobile simcard in it. However, I updated to 2.1 and now its relocked itself. I talked to a sony ericsson person and they said this was meant to happen because when it was updated it was restored to factory settings and they said I could use the same code to unlock it but I don't have this code anymore so they said I had no choice but to buy another code. Thats another £20 Is there a way I can unlock it again without buying a code again.
As of right now, no, there is no other way to SIM-unlock our x10's without handing over cash to someone.

I thought sim unlocking was supposed to be permanent. It's not fair that just because I updated I now have to potentially payanother £30 to get the phone unlocked AGAIN
i bought already unlocked x10, rogers branded (canada)
also had same fear to get a locked phone after update to 2.1
i even wrote to rogers support to investigate, they said they dont know it the phone will lock again.
se support didnt even answered....
BUT, i took the risk and updated to 2.1, the phone never locked.
hope it wont lock upgrading to 2.3
It will only be permanent (to the best of my knowledge) if we get an unlocked bootloader, because it gives us direct access to where SIM-lock is stored, and don't expect one from SE. So until Maxrfon and the_laser settle their argument and give us something to work with, or another genius unlocks it, im afraid you'll just have to pay for another code.

Yes, if the phone was originally unlocked, it _shouldn't_ lock it self.
EDIT: I may be wrong however, so don't quote me

Is the phone only sim locked on a software level? Would changing the firmware unlock it?
I've never had any complaints about relocking itself tho.

Hi, ive rooted my xperia x10, however, I want to unlock my xperia x10 from orange, is there anyway to radio s-off my phone so I could unlock the sim?
You cannot unlock this phone, by the way you have mentioned before.
I think you are thinking about the HTC Desire method?
Orange will provide you with the unlock code for £15 provided the contract is over 6 months old. Not sure if they will do it for phones aquired from elsewhere (ebay ect) but give them a call anyway. They can only tell you to piss off.

your best bet is to get the unlock code from your network provider if you are out of contract!

Hy!
I know there are hundreds of thousands of topics about this, but I can't find the real answer...
Is there a free way to unlock the SIM card lock on X10 Mini Pro, and use it with another carrier? (Mine is locked to vodafone, but I want to give it to my T-Mobile friend.)
Thanks for any help and solutions!
And please don't blame me for opening a new topic, I'm searching for the solution about 3 hours.

Omnius I think is the best way. You can't unlock your bootloader after using it though. Otherwise just ring up vodafone and ask them for the unlock code

But Omnius isn't free. Is there any free solution? Something like rooting...

If you had the phone on contract, vodafone should give you the unlock-code for free after the initial contract-period, at least, that's how it usually works. It's the best way to sim-unlock your phone.
I have been fighting over this for several days now but I can't seem to find the information I'm looking for: how to unlock the network lock of a Sony Xperia Z Ultra so it can be used with a SIM card of any network. :crying:
All I have found is how to unlock the boot loader or root the device. Does doing that also unlock the network? I'm not sure...
Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Best,

I am trying to discover the same answers for my locked Note 3 that is now for sale but network locked!
Ryland
Put another sim in the phone and itll ask for an unlock code. You can get it from your carrier or go to unlockanyphone.com I think it is and its £13 or $19 as I've already looked just to see how much it'd be but I already have a unlocked phone

I don't know if it will work for the Xperia z ultra but it worked on my girlfriends note 2. I just flashed a generic firmware from my location in which case a generic UK/EU firmware

If any of you are in the UK and your phone is locked to 3 network, they will unlock it for free now. This applies to any handset on 3, whatever make and model.
