Missing notifications with screen off. - HTC One X+

Is anyone else's wifi turning off with the screen off even though that setting has not been enabled?
I am missing notifications because of it.
I have had this issue on both stock and custom Roms.
Would love suggestions on a solution. The my s2 never has this issue.
Thanks

Yup...happens quite often and it's infuriating. From what I read, it happend on the original One X as well and it was fixed, but it appears the same issue exists on the X+. HTC FTW. Ugh.

We need this. Apparently it's a power saving function. f'ing HTC.

Never had this issue when i have the power saver option set to have data connection on while screen is off ... make sure you have UNTICKED the radio button in the power saver options or it will keep turning it off

I'm concerned about no more deep sleep. On my s2, wifi notifications would still be received even in deep sleep. This app may burn the battery fast.

Edit:
FIrst off, I will say that I have ALWAYS had the box unticked which said "Data Connection: put to sleep when screen is off"
I have now for the past few hours experimented with ticking it. Wifi does not appear to be going to sleep with this option ticked
I am a native English speaker, and I must say that the way this is not written clearly. What it must mean is it puts the phone modem to sleep with the screen off but not the wifi. So therefore, when the box is unticked the phone modem must have priority (a guess)
HTC have really made this option unclear. I will continue to tick the box and report back if there are any more issues but this counter-intuitive box appears to be working.

Never mind, I still have the problem.
Wifi still turns off with screen constantly whether the box is ticked or not.
Anyone else?

Wifi turns off while sleep

Hey folks,
seems like my wifi is turning off or disconnecting from my AP while the screen is off
on Wifi Advanced Settings -> "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" is set to "Always"
yet.. there are times that i get my notification only when i wake it up.. and suddenly the wifi icon is grey and then white and connected again
does any of you experience the same thing?
thanks

Only happens at night and on weekends. It's HTC junk. Custom roms address. Specifically the "disable smart sync" option in Viper.

I'm on Virtuous Rom and this happens from time to time. I wonder which system app controls smart sync. This way others could freeze it in TB.
I've had this app for a while now but still never tried it lol, but you could try and see if it works.

Wasn't there a setting that you could turn sleep on or off for Wifi? I've been away from HTC for a while and can't remember exactly where it's at..

Yes there is, but even with wifi on during sleep it will turn off from time to time.

I just set up this up using the instructions in the OP of the thread above. Will monitor over the next couple of days and see how it goes.

Doesn't work on the DNA, it just hangs when trying to execute. You have to manually enter the commands via terminal emulator or ADB.

Aosp 4.1x - 4.2.2 torch time out

Hey all, I have a question for all you out there in XDA land, rezound county. Is there a way to prevent the torch app from timing out when the screen shuts off? It is really annoying, as the toggle and app day it is solo on. I have only encountered this issue on this device. My old T-bolt and Eris before that never had the issue. Is it an ICS/JB thing or device specific?

I tried to play with the code in the android.XML once. I was obviously unsuccessful. One thing i noticed is that it uses the keep screen on command rather than android.permission.wakelock when i changed it the app would force close so i missed something somewhere relating to permissions. I haven't messed with it in awhile but i may try again when i get my new computer

Widgetlocker Delay

Howdy!
I am suddenly experiencing a delay with WidgetLocker. When I hit the power button to wake my phone there is a 1-2 second delay with the clock. It doesn't sound like a lot but it takes a millisecond to check the time. I have never seen this before and its a really jarring experience to read 9:20 and then have it flash to 9:45 right as I click to relocl the screen.
I've done multiple searches and can't find anything other than one post that said this is normal since the phone is waking from "deep sleep" and there will always be a delay. I don't think this is right since I have used WidgeLocker on multiple phones over the last year or so and never noticed this. Its pretty hard to miss.
Any ideas or suggestions? I've tried rebooting, checked for updates, etc.
Thanks.

I would point to this as the problem. Even without widgetlocker this occurs. Not sure what rom you are on, if any, but have you tried the zero wake lag options? It stopped the problem for me.
I am on Beans 9. I recently had to do a restore from nandroid. I wonder if a setting didn't restore fully. I will check it out.
Is there any downside to zero lag options? Just wondering why it wouldn't be default.
Thanks!

My M8 Wont turn on

Plugged in my phone to charge last night and woke up this morning and unplugged it. I noticed green LED was not turning off even after unplugging but figured it'd just go away. Drove to work and it was still on so I decided to restart to see if that fixed it. Well, now it WONT TURN ON! Ive held the power button down for about 60 seconds, tried power+up/down volume rocker and am getting no results. If I plug the phone in to my usb on my computer, the LED does not turn on either. Any suggestions? I think i may have to make a trip down to the ATT store today
Vol up and power 15 seconds. Cannot be plugged in.

Wanted to update, had to go to ATT and they declared the phone DOA. They seemed to think there was a surge when I was charging it. I was using the OEM charger and everything. Was two days out of the return period but they were awesome and gave me a brand new device anyway. This is the first time this has happened with any phone ive owned (that I havent dropped/soaked). Really hope this one lasts because it's beautiful!

Were you rooted? S-off? It's most likely hardware related but trying to eliminate any other possibilities. Thank goodness for AT&T s return policy.

i know your location says Arizona, but i had to ask;
it was there any thunderstorm or lightning in your area? is your charger was connect to wall outlet, or extended cord? does your charger still working?
There have been no thunderstorms for a while, and it was plugged into the wall with the oem charger. The charger still works but I'm not using it at the moment since I'm being parinoid.

That might be the reason.... Same thing happened with me while back with my HTC sensation. after installing a custom kernel, I woke up in the morning and my phone was completely dead, no charge led , no vol+ -. Nothing. I took the battery out for 10 minutes and then the phones worked again. After one hour it dead again. So I had to install stock ruu again.

Is your phone was rooted too?
Yes, but that has nothing to do with this. Bad hardware, period. It happens. It was acting a little funny prior to it dying. When I would leave my microcell, it would not connect back to ATT towers without hitting airplane mode or a reboot. WiFi signal seemed a little weak also. New one is fine.

Definitely think it was hardware related.

Is it generally true that the kernel is essential for energy management in the device including charging?

If that was the issue it would be related to recovery or hboot. And as the previous poster stated, this has only happened to a few people. Defective HW. It happens.

Thx so much for the "vol up + power" tip. Turned my M8 on with blazing smiles from its owner.
