[Q] Is the note 2 ever going to have multiple rom slots? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I know coming from the bionic, they had multiple rom slots with TWRP. Will this ever be possible with this phone?
Thanks

never heard of it

It's basically partitions out the internal card into however many slots you want, max is 4 I think. It uses 2gb per slot. Then whenever you want, you can go into TWRP and switch between roms.

I've heard of it, as I had it on my razr hd. But I don't see why when you can just have backups its so easy and fast to just be swapping backups. That's normally what I would do when there is 2 roms that I like a lot.

I did, and it was great. Unfortunately it doesn't look like they support much in the way of Samsung devices at the moment. As of mid-November they were working on support for the GS3 but I don't know what's happened to that. Apparently Sammy's partition structures are annoying.

ICS port questions?

Not trying to bait here just curious about what it takes if the CM team makes CM9... What will it take to run on the Atrix given the CM7 development that has taken place. What effect does not having a moto ics kernel have on the process?

Call me stupid, but isn't this why the "extract-files.sh" file exists?
EDIT: I just downloaded and extracted the files from the "self extracting files" from http://code.google.com/android/nexus/drivers.html for the Nexus S and they're the same ones that are pulled from the phone in "extract-files.sh" for the Nexus S. This means that there are no proprietary binaries that we do not have access to already. Porting shouldn't be any harder than usual.

The extract will take binaries based on gingerbread and more importantly the 2.6 kernel series not the 3.0 series that ICS is based on. So in short the extract will not give ICS binaries.

IDK... Nexus phones don't use Micro SD, which for me is a HUGE TURNOFF.
I just don't understand why Nexus doesn't do Micro SD? I just don't see how its that much or a security issue...

Until carriers (besides Sprint) become friendlier with bandwidth caps, iCloud will NEVER be a solution for me. I'm not gonna plan my day around WiFi either, and I keep coming close enough to my monthly limit as it is. That's why Micro SD is critical for me.
If AT&T had a true unlimited data plan like Sprint, I'd drop the extra money on it without having to worry about penalty fees or throttling...

This is common for him, he's one the best devs his roms are stable advanced and usually ahead of the times for like a month of other roms but every phone I have ever owned that he made a Rom for usual gets a few builds and when its 100% stable he's gone foreve.

He's like kaiser soce - poof, he's gone... I used the Ariel ROM on my SGS3 and it was the best of the (tons of) stock-based ROMs. He put it up and after a few tweaks, that was about it. As was said earlier, he didn't seem to care much about making an update just to add a minor feature. Once it was solid, he let it be.
I just picked up an LGOG last night and am definitely flashing this ROM.
As long as he comes back and makes a JB version of The Base (once we get JB), I'll be happy.

Stock vs Rooted

Now I'm not your average user. I've only owned two android phones: the LG esteem and now the DNA. The Esteem was really a solid phone and the development team really allowed the phone to go above and beyond its limits. Though I loved my Esteem the DNA just blows it out the water in all aspects. I rooted my Esteem because it wasn't as good stock. A phone like this makes me wonder is it even necessary to root because it's already so fast and so smooth.
And that's pretty much my question. As I hold my DNA in my hand I'm wondering if I should go ahead and root or just keep it as stock. What do you guys think?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
I've been stuck on stock because I took the ota. But the stock Rom for me has been amazing I'm patiently waiting for the unlock. But it's great maybe one of the first phones I'm really content on stock. I've been keeping up with custom roms and some really still seem to have some issues and quirks like wireless charging issues and Bluetooth not working. Phones not going into deep sleep I don't have any of those issues.

Rooting the dna isn't really about getting a performance boost as it is about getting extra customization.

And because we should have root.
We should have root by default, the fact we have "hack" the software to get what should be allowed by default is bs

True enough. I actually had decided to just go ahead and root but I noticed it said if you downloaded the ota then you couldn't root. Well I downloaded it so is there no way to?

Giving root to everyone might not be optimal for average users that aren't tech savvy... however it really shouldn't be difficult to get root access...once a device is bought, the users should have the right to do what they want with it. Think about buying a laptop and not being able to put an OS you want on it...could we have a petition to force companies to let the device really be owned by the user after its been payed for?

That doesn't remove the ota, it removes the files on your phone that control the ota.
If you are not rooted and on the ota there is no way to root(for now) and no way to revert back to the older software version, period.

Ah I see, yeah I wasn't sure. Never took the OTA because it won't do it out of the states... or at least wouldn't on my phone. In that case, hope they brew something up for you guys soon

Don't think it would matter anyway since you can't flash without being rooted. Oh well, guess I'll just wait till there is a root for the new update. Hopefully some of these ROMs get ported over as well

Thinking of getting the thunderbolt and have questions

Hello!
I am wanting to know what u think of this phone, also my incredible is getting a little slow and this one is said to have more ram and better CPU. Does its GPS work good I am finding my inc is not working right there, also will this be getting cm10.1 like my inc has? Thank you so much for the help, the myn reason I like it is it only costs under 80 $ on eBay or glyde.com lol

the only difference is the CPU stepping, a smidge bigger battery (which will last the same time for the bigger screen), a bigger screen.
Although the CPU is a S2 there really is no difference in the two. GPS does go out on some Thunderbolt's. CM10.1 is JB; I and a couple
more devs are working on it right now, though CM9 isn't even fully working. which is ICS. If you have S-OFF AND full root then you will
have great fun with it. The Thunderbolt won't disappoint... I have played with both and they are just as fast... I say go for it!
oh with dual 3G radios you cannot go wrong :b
Also what do u think about the rezound I can get one of those for under 130$ is it better ?

I say dont get the tb. Its old outdated and runs hot enough to keep your pocket warm on a cold day. If u look around a bit more a 100 bucks will take you a bit farther then the tb. Being as it was the first real 4g phone it has quite a few issues. Data stalls being a major flaw in the device. I had 4 in my house hold. And htc chased me right over to samsung. Its was good in its day but so was commodore 64 but u wont see anyone using one

Thanks I will get ether the bolt or the rezound but most likely the rez. Just have to find one I can buy for under 140$ I would like under 100$ but that is not happening unless I get a cracked screen one lol I have been looking on eBay and that is where o have found them the cheapest, any one know of where to get a good deal or have one for sell?

even over-clocked and using it for constant radio (BT) streaming it never got warm on me.
I was running ICS Bliss on it... which isn't released yet but hey....
I had the bolt and it never ran hot unless I was charging it and running tethering at the same time. if the phone was running hot all the time you either had the governor set to performance or you had a bad battery. I have the rezound now and loads better over the bolt. so get that over the bolt you won't be sorry. the only thing the bolt had over the rezoind was it was so easy to unlock and get s off. even with the latest boot loader update the bolt got its still easier. with the resound to get s off you have to do the wire trick.
you can look on swappa for phones as many people buys them on there.

I had a thunderbolt before getting a S3 and there are times I miss the bolt. I had great luck with each ROM (SOAB, Thunder Shed, and Santod's ICS Eternity. Heck, I would have loved trying his new Bliss ROM. If you decide you want a bolt and I can figure out how to clear mine I can sell you it with an OEM and Rezound battery, a couple of cases (including a PowerSkin case) for $100. I have been hanging on to it in case a developer needed it, so no worries if you would prefer the Rezound.
