Suppose that Google sells the phone for the end user, without undergoing any other company like Sansung for example. What is the ICS launcher original design straight from google?
Ex: A Samsung has as the original Twiz
The HTC is the sense?! (never had one)
And google? What is the original launcher, without anyone change? Either there is a project launcher official for google ? Or its not cause its open source and only 3rd dev create an custom launcher? I cant believe that Google doesn't have an oficial launcher write by Google itself.
I saw somewhere that talking is Holo, but then I saw the holo to download more like a custom.
I searched here but did not find ... someone can take my doubt?
Just flash a AOSP clean rom and you will have stock Android with stock launcher.
Nova Launcher or Apex Launcher are pretty much 'stock', although it isn't officialy from Google itself.
AOSP roms like CyanogenMod come with Trebuchet Launcher, it's not from Google.

"Holo" is just the name of the UI theme Google introduced with Android 4.0 ICS; it's not a launcher. I think the default Google launcher is called the same as the default CM launcher but I could be wrong. It could possibly be a nameless launcher simply referred to as "stock launcher". I mean, why not? Google doesn't need to name Android's default launcher.

There are a few AOSP stock Gingerbread launchers on the market. Which one is the best? I've used a few ROMs in the past that say they use one from the market, but I never saw which one.
I know the GB launcher that came in liberty rom was extremely fluid and you could add more icons to the dock as well. I think you could have up to 4-5 icons? You could try finding the rom extracting the apk and setting the proper permisisons. But It might look weird since I doubt it is coded properly for our resolution. Could ask kejar and see if he'll be interested in hooking you up perhaps? I'm not too sure about the market ones tbh, just found their performance lacking imo.
According to the CM team, Gingerbread's launcher was never open-sourced. So... who knows what that says about the supposedly AOSP launchers on the market.
CM went with ADW for their ROMs. Which pretty much mimic the look and feel of the stock GB Nexus launchers by default.
I want to modify the stock ICS launcher (like Trebuchet, Nova, etc. did). How can I do this? I understand that source code of Launcher from Google cannot be opened in Eclipse like an ordinary application (because it uses private APIs). So how does Cyanogenmod team do this?
i'm not the best to answer this but i assume it's quite hard to modify.
I would suggest you to try Apex Launcher
Hey,
I have a friend with a S2 from Orange Spain that has now received the official ICS update. Apparently, the only difference from stock is the splash screen.
I have a Galaxy Nexus and I wanted to help my friend get rid of all unwanted Touchwiz customizations without rooting his phone.
I couldn't find a thread explaining what to remove, what to replace and what to keep.
Is there a guide to un-touchwiz without flashing a new rom?
Cheers,
How are you going to remove stuff on an unrooted phone ???????
jje
^^ +1 to this.
Yup, if you just want to replace the homescreen and launcher, then you can just install a third party launcher, but to remove/replace system apps, you would need root.
Thanks!
Is there are stock ICS launcher or just 3rd party lookalike launchers?
Just search the "play store" for launchers.
Apex or Nova as an example of ICS launchers
Or maybe have a look at Go Launcher, probably has more features than most
Hello
I'm a big fan of Samsungs Hardware but never liked touchwiz. The hings that annoy me most are the launcher and the Email(Exchange) App.
Is there a way to use the Vanilla ICS pendants without switching completely to cyanogen (when it once will be available)? I would like too keep the few nice add ons by Samsung.
Thx for hints
You could try an alternative ICS launcher such as Nova https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher&hl=en. Hope that helps some.
An alternative launcher will definitely get you away from much of the touchwiz experience but you will still be stuck with Samsung's email, calendar, etc apps. Take a look in the SGS3 Themes and Apps section. I believe someone there has created a flashable zip to replace the Samsung stock apps with the ICS ones.
Thanks both of you. Nova does the trick for now.
I also flashed the ICS Email but it did not want to work. Guess I'll wait for CM then.
cheers
I am using Android 4.2.1 CM10.1 based rom with i9300.
And I love the DPI of 280 instead of stock 320.
Before 4.2(4.0, 4.1), The launcher showed more icons with more spaces and rooms.
But now with 4.2, CM's launcher and Android 4.2 Stock launcher all shows a bit weird.
Like the attachment, It's small.
Weirdly small.
I don't like this. (And I think you won't either.)
How do I fix this?
(PS I've tried porting Trebuchet from CM10.0, Launcher2.apk(stock launcher) from Galaxy Nexus 4.1.2 rom but it just keeps crashes.)
(And also, don't tell me to use other Market's Nova launcher or Apex. I prefer the Trebuchet or Stock launcher.)
