Since our venue has no LED notification I though we can use the soft key's LED as notification light and did some search on google.
So here it is:

It would be more useful if we had a kernel mod to seperate out the leds.
At least on the S5, the leds can be individially turned on and off, but only by adding in that ability.
The V might be able to at the hardware level like the S5, but the stock kernel code for led controll needs to be modified to make it individially controllable.

Since we just got BLN back with the mesmerize source kernels, I was wondering how people's experiences were with the BLN app vs Blinky. I've seen a couple posts here and there about them but not really a lot of feedback.
I think you need blinky with free version of BLN to have the blinking function.
The paid version of BLN has that function so no need to install blinky with it.
I just use the free BLN control app. All I use it for is text messages, and I don't really need it to blink. If it is on, then I have a text.
BLN app worked fine. I didnt need blinky. I got the free version of BLN and it does what I need (It lights up when text comes in)
Any side effects using this app?

None. It has been proven that the battery drain is not noticeable. Like < 1%.
I use Blinky cause Pac-Man is pimp! Actually, it was the first one I tried and it works so I kept it!

Meh I was using it for a while but I noticed my backlight would stay on instead of blink like I wanted, so I disabled it.
thanks guys. i tried both separately and i couldn't get the blinking to work with blinky so i deleted both. BLN is still activated even when the apps are gone, just fyi or my phone is a little funky
I just recently flashed Cyanogenmod 7 and I noticed something. When I get a notification my key will light up until I unlock the screen. I was wondering if there was a settings option to reduce the time of the soft keys backlight or to disable them for good. This wasn't a problem on evil or miui.
Thanks. Running CM7 with glitch kernel ED01
Tk-Glitch is currently working on implementing BLN into his next kernel update, so as of right now no you can't adjust the time or disable it. You can read more here
Thanks for the help man. I guess ill just patiently wait: )

No problem.
Ta'Ta'Tapatalk'd
I like that they light up but it would be perfect if we could set an amount of time that they stay lit. Like 5 minutes.

hello i have a problem with my dell streak 5 ... that three buttons (out of the screen) doesnt work. i dont know what is the problem and i need our help, because is my daily use phone. thanks.
this phone is froyo version (2.2.2)
and i do hard reset
I think you should boot into recovery, and recalibrate screen, until it says "successfull" ....i know the buttons arent on the screen, but it got mine working one time......also theres a good app called "button savior" I think you have to be rooted thought.....but it puts the 3 hard buttons on your screen that you activate small button.....it does the same thing the hard buttons do
That way,you never need the 3 buttons on side of phone again

thanks but i do that and still bad
You installed the button savior app......it does what the outer 3buttons do.....just puts them on the touch screen

Can someone please help? I've read that it was possible to set the Capacitive buttons on the bottom of the phone to light up for notifications. If this is true can someone please point me in the right direction?
And just to clarify, I've searched and searched but I can't seem to find out how to do it.
Thanks in advance!

BLN: back light notifications
You need a custom kernel with the bln and module built in and on a tw rom you will need to get the bln app from the market.
Some aosp roms have that feature included in the system settings themselves, and if not I'm pretty sure all aosp kernels have that module in it for at least the app to work.
I use this kernel (r3) + BLN app from the Play market.

Judging by in your signature it shows you as having a Note 2 I would probably go ask in those forums about BLN as I am sure flashing one of our kernels that supports it will cause you to have a nice big paper weight

Good call. BTW, doesn't the Note 2 have a built-in LED notification light?
I do have a note 2, my girl had a note 1. I do appreciate the concern

Hi friends, I'm looking for app that would automatically send my phone to sleep when I close the lid of my pouch. Is there anything like this available on market?

Yes try air swiper.

Any app which uses the proximity sensor to turn the screen off would work, however this would also mean it would happen whenever the sensor is covered.
Also just found this in the same section...
Automaton Gestures
Have a look/search first, usually you'll find what you're looking for
