Might as well get the full thing and go to 4.2.1 and go to Hellybean http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1864779
differences between cm10 and 10.1:
-More features
-A bit faster in UI
-everything else is same

[Q] XXLPB ICS ROM (codeworks) presents touch lag?

Did anyone else know of this?
i am new to the i9100 (coming from G2x ICS build), i have noticed that the interface does not follow my fingers as closely as in the LG (or other phones).
Is this a known issue?
Thanks a million

Thanks. Since this is my first ICS rom, I have to check on that rom you mentioned. I am a noob. Bought this i9100 with this ROM already on it.
struggling with all the search results
Although I can't attest to it, I did see a few people complaining about touch lag in both XXLPB and XXLPH. They're both leaks after all, and not official yet. You'll want to wait for a while till kernel sources or an official ICS ROM comes out.
CheckROM will be flawless due to it being based on a Gingerbread ROM, and any other GB ROMs for that matter (I used CheckROM and its pretty responsive). If you want, you can switch to them temporarily until a better ICS alternative comes, or stay there and wait for a better one.

[Q] Which ICS ROM to get?

I am sure this has been asked before but I haven't been on here in a long time.
I am getting sick of waiting for Samsung to release ICS to this tablet.
I have searched to see which ROM is worth getting but have ended up beong more confused.
Anyway I was hoping someone could recommend to me which 4.0 [ICS] ROM I should get.
Which ROM is the most stable and has the least problems?
...What doesn't work on the ROM would be nice to know also.
Thanks in advance guys.
I have used both aokp and cm9. I prefer aokp because of tweaks like the battery bar at the bottom. For me they were both stable. I did find that Fifa 2012 ran better on aokp add well. but the cm9 had the dsp controls to change the sound better.
There is a sticky in the developers forum at the top where a guy has you tube videos comparing them. I would watch those and choose the one you like better.

If I were you, I'd stick with custom HC ROMs. Gonna wait a little bit for the official ICS ROM from Samsung and also the JB custom ROMs from our beloved and talented ROM creators. Hopefully there is the precious camera driver for JB included. LOL

I got fed up waiting for ICS on my P7510 (though it is out now) so I hunted around and tried several before settling on Toldo's ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1813651.
Everything is working, though I am experiencing an odd hyperlink problem on some web pages. I would definitely recommend this ROM.
I also would suggest Toldo's ICS ROM. Its working perfectly.

[ROM][4.0.4/4.1.2]|l|l|l|l|l|l| Aberration |l|l|l|l|l|l|l| {BETA 2 RELEASED}

Psssssst. There's a new public beta. Click here
Last time on ShishirROM.............After nearly nine months of ShishirROM, there has to be something else. Something better. For weeks I've listened to user input and did a lot of research and development myself. Aberration is the new project I'm working on, and even before it has been out, I can confidently say every user loved it and never wanted to change away. This ROM really does have something for every single person. Based on XWLPM -- One of the earlier Samsung 4.0.4 ROMS, this ROM is smooth out of the box. While Jellybean re-defined smooth, out of every ROM my users have tried, this one is the one that came the closest. It may have something to do with the odexed nature of the ROM, or it may have something to do with the intense resource editing and cleaning to make every app as light as possible. Either way, this ROM is blazing... but not at the expense of comfort. The theme this time was inspired not by some futuristic phone... But by the original Gingerbread Galaxy S2. It's sort of like a combination of the Galaxy S3, Galaxy S2, and the Galaxy Nexus. It's not anything I've personally seen before. The Aberration Settings app finally allows you to change Settings you could never touch on Stock Samsung firmware. Things like the Notification widgets, mDNIe modes, font sizes, etc. And the app is in full development and will be updated as time goes on. What is Aberration exactly? It's the next step of the best ROM for the i777... and soon the i9100.
Features:
ODEXED (for smoothness)
Based on XWLPM
Siyah
Aberration Settings app
Lidroid 14 Quick Toggles
AROMA Installer
Google Now
Lux Auto-brightness
Opensource Sensors library (more accurate and faster)
Holo/Jellybean inspired styling
Apex/GS3/GS2 Launcher
GS2/GS3 Music application
Easy-Update
Samsung Dive
Complete development cycle
Directions:
Install i777 zip in CWM
Wipe Data
Configure installation & install ROM
Reboot
Set-up ROM, download apps, etc.
Reboot again to settle everything
Pictures, Changelogs, Downloads all on the Aberration website.

I don't think Siyah supports cross-version dual booting yet. If it breaks then don't blame me lol. This release doesn't have flash built-in, but I can make it an option in the Settings app soon.

Pick the i777. The downloads are for the model of the phone you have. Just match the pictures lol
More Information: The ROMs are the same. Flashing the i9100 version will mess some things up -- more than hellraising it can fix because we don't have a proper 4.0.4 kernel yet. But the two versions are the same beneath the skin, I promise
Added a blog part of the website. And right next to the first post in the blog is a little treat Jellybean wallpapers.

After some time with this ROM I am loving it. Smoothest thing I have ever tried! Great job shishir!

I noticed google now listed in features. I'm curious how it's working on this rom/how you implemented it? I tried it via the apk in the android apps and games section when I was on AOKP. While it did work well, not all cards worked and the voice search was not as refined as it is on JB.

Is jelly bean on s2 really worthy to have?

My sister has a s2. I was telling her about the soon to be out jelly bean update and about the system memory shrinkage of 1 GB. So its basically her question that is it really to flash or let the ics do its work? Well me for my note is dying for the official JB. For now 4.0.4 is rocking my phone.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Well, if you're rooted and can do a Nandroid, do it.
Do a Nandroid backup of your current state and flash JB for a test run.
Let the user judge the worthiness.
If the user thinks its not worthy, restore the Nandroid backup.
arilyag 500
i'd say it really depends on the phone...
best to make a nandroid backup before upgrading.
i've gone to JB twice (ParanoidAndroid and Neatrom) but went back to ICS
PURELY for the reason that i wasnt able to get good deep sleep on JB but there are many people who have no issues with this.
There were a few system related apps where I just prefered the ICS versions as well so i wouldnt say its specifically JB related.
I never had any issues running Neatrom 4.0 and PA on JB on my S2, i usually remove all bloatware and replace launcher with apex so everything seems quick to me
As all custom rom have bugs because of sources not available but stock jb will be bug free and should have deep sleep/good battery backup. So i think its fully worthy...
-more battery drain
-more features
-not much modded kernels ready yet
-it's jb, and really much smoother
-some bugs, but in everyday use really hard to spot them
Galaxy note
I would galaxy note n note2 are best to enjoy JB. N features like ripple lock with ink effect n specially videos n multi window on an huge screen.
If u feel note2 is expensive note1 is another real good option n buyable tooo..
Try the leaked xxlsj, it's very fast and the only issues I've been having are battery drain when browsing web and lock screen lag. It brings lots of enhancements to ics!
Well thanks for the help. A backup would be a good solution before taking the risk.
Lets see JB responds on it. But what about the 1 gb sacrifice for the system apps can we repatition it???
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
do the nandroid but honestly i suggest waiting for the official
its supposed to have a lot of things worked out as compared to the leaked xxlsj.
i liked xxlsj but i would def try JB again official leak on my s2

Yes i am waiting for the official. I dont use custom roms. Rooting is all what i want . Actually my devices are for professional use . So troubleshooting official is easy.

Thanks for the reply! I've been going through it. I am new to rooting and would want a nice ROM to go hand in hand with my Note. There are so many different ROMS making it very confusing! Is there a consensus on what the 'best' ROM is? Or could you explain to me the benefits of the one you are using and where I can get it? Thanks alot again.
You can get carbon under the Original Development Thread. It has had the least amount of reboots for me but there are many fine 4.2.2 ROMs offered here.
Asking for the "best" can start a flaming thread, since its very much a personal choice.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Ure most likely to get reboots in all 4.2.2 roms n most likely camera issues...until they release an official stable 4.2.2 rom then that'll be the rom u are looking for..to get less reboots I turn profiles off in settings n disable hw hardware layout...try that with any rom see what happens...

Best advice........read read read
As suggested by others look at development. It depends what YOU want or are looking for. Many 4.2 have issues. Mainly reboots. Some flicker in screen.
What i do is find rom that looks interesting in features to me. Then i go to end of thread and read backwards. Lets me know the more recent issues and if there are fixes or tweaks to compensate.
Lots of bells and whistles in 4.2 but sometimes we sacrifice stability.
Your choice........good luck and go slow.

In my own experience the most stable i717 4.2.2 rom is sons of android build 4, all other 4.2.2 roms I've tried where Awful for hot reboots and screen flickering. As always, make sure you do a full wipe before installing anything, happy flashing!

CyanogenMod 10.1.2 has been the smoothest ROM for me, with the best battery life. I use SD-Booster, Autokiller, and Greenify (apps) as well, which give me super speed, super smoothness, and eternal battery life.
Since this change, not a single reboot, screen flicker, or other Android 4.2 issue.
