Hi all,
Im trying to root my sisters S2. Ive read alot of guides and ive rooted several S3's no problem. The guides are all saying to flash CF Kernel with file name same as kernel (I9100PBVLPC) which I cannot see unless ive gone blind through all the reading lol.
Could I just flash the latest PhilZ kernel using Odin? the phone is stock 4.0.3, sim-locked.
Thanks in advance
Nobody help me with this?

Hi all,
I have a Galaxy s2 on three uk network and it is locked with them, I was wondering if i root it by flashing "XWKDD_insecure.tar" in odin will it work or mess up my network settings.
Also I do not want the warning triangle on startup and so was wondering where I could find a Vanilla gingerbread official samsung ROM.
Thanks for your help

Hi,
I know the title sounds like stupid, but someone offered me an S2 a few monthes ago, and he bought it from canada, The problem is its an i9100M, and I want to put some custom roms and kernels on it.
S2 isn't very popular in canada so After hours of searching on the net, I only found out that The canadian I9100M is identical to the international S2, AND by rooting it and installing a custom rom, it will work as an i9100, SO i tried to find the requirements to root it and then I found out that the only one avialable is KG2 while i have LD3 (i9100MUGLD3) for somereason,
So the question is, Is it safe to put the international S2 kernel while rooting since it's the same phone?
and What are the risks if I put the wrong kernel ? will the backup still work ?
Thank you for reading, Thank you more if you're answering :victory:
PS: The phone is unlocked
PS2: I'm not canadian
PS3: I'm a noob at rooting and installing roms&kernels
I9100M can use any I9100 firmware or kernel, no problem. They are functionally the same device. Just stay away from I9100G firmwares or kernels.
hi to all from a very wet north wales.
we have a problem. just bought a galaxy s2 and wanted to root it so that we can unlock it and then change network provider.
we followed the instructions found elsewhere on this site but the phone does not reboot after using odin3.
could this be because we accidentally tried to load up the wrong kernel? we have tried to locate a copy of the correct one but cannot find one. Should/could a generic kernel work and if so could someone please indicate where to find it
details:
galaxy s 2 gt 19100
original kernal version 3.0.15-19100 XWLET
ANDROID VERSION 4.0.4
odin3 version 1.85
superoneclick vers 2.2
failed kernel was XWKDD
ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY GRATEFULLY RECEIVED

You flashed a gingerbread kernel over ICS! Don't just follow any tutorial you find on net. If you break your phone, they can't help you.
Download Siyah kernel :www.gokhanmoral.com/public/files/siyahkernel/v4/Siyah-s2-v4.1.5.tar
Flash the kernel via Odin.

Hello guys.
Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300
I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions for me. I rooted my new phone using the toolkit method from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488 and now i am confused about the firmware versions, and if the kernel was changed and such. I forgot to check all these versions before i rooted the phone,so have no idea if these are the original ones.
My phone is bought and used in Denmark, however the firmware suggests it is now a uk version looking at the country code could this be correct? If i look at this http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-I9300&pcode=HTD&os=1&type=1#firmware my AP/PDA number is the same, but the CSC number is different,is this normal?
this is apparently the stock samsung firmware for my phone PDA:I9300XXBLH3 CSC:I9300HTDBLH1 from the sammobil site, and after root mine says PDA/AP: I9300XXBLH3 CSC:I9300NEEBLH2
I would like to know if this is normal? Can i use the 4.1.1. jellybean (2012 October 4.1.1 PDA:I9300XXDLJ1 CSC:I9300HTDDLI1) on my phone using odin to flash it? Or do i have to find a firmware with exactly the same numbers as my current ones?
I am afraid i might have done something wrong, however everything works, and root checker says i have root access, and superuser is installed on the phone,if the toolkit has "updated" or changed my firmware/kernel to a uk one, does it matter?
Also, after root my phone now shows up as Galaxy Tab in utorrent, but it is still I9300 in my windows7, why is this?
Did toolkit 5.0 save my original rom/kernel/firmware before rooting? If so,where?
I would be extremely grateful for someone to easy my worrying
Thank You

Hi All,
I have a new phone bought in Singapore, but looks like it's actually made in France and I'm not I'm using it in India. I want to root and have CFW installed, but after a lot of reading, I came to know that the baseband matters if you want to root and have custom ROMs on the phone. The phone came with Jellybean 4.1.1 and updated it yesterday to 4.1.2. Below are other details, please let me know if I can tinker around with the phone by rooting and having CFW
AP: I9300XXEMA2
CP: I9300XXELKB
CSC: I9300XEFELL1
Thanks in advance!
Go to the general thread and read the stickies, all-in-one threads - they have everything you need to know.
Baseband has nothing to do with root its your modem and nowhere does it mention baseband and root .
Tinker with phone yes have CWM yes brick phone yes if you don't read and learn .
