LOST.DIR is a necessary system folder which the Android OS will recreate if you delete it. If you are running low on memory space, then you should remove rarely used files and apps to gain memory space.

LOST.DIR does recreate itself in external storage like a SD Card and a USB Disk which gets really irritating.

please delete all hidden folders on the sd card (they start with ".foldername")
of course make backup before.
you might need to redownload some apps then.
This is caused if you had apps in a previous version moved to sd.
how do i delete them if they are hidden???
thank you
The file explorer on the rom shows them or use root explorer. Or in windows set show all files (google how to show hidden folder on windows)

I am still gettin the same message that i dont have enough space on sd.
Should i format my sdcard?
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
First i would suggest to deinstall the apps which are already on sd. Then format sd card (make sure to only have 1 partition).
Then download from market and reinstall the apps. Then move to sd.
This is how i managed it.
(you can goto settings, applications, application administration and click on the sd tab and deinstall apps)

ive tried moving the files with a root explorer but when i load the game it just asks to download the files again because it cant find them on my sd card
You can't just move files/dirs like that. You have to set up symlinks too.
If you don't know how to do that, it might be best if you don't mess around anymore.

isnt there a way i can get the data to automatically save on to my internal storage space?
which rom you use?
In CM (and CM based) roms you can change the storages so that you will be able to use the internal storage as the app storage. notice that it will change the storage settings for all the other apps (For example, the camera storage location will be in the internal instead of the SD card)

[Q] Problem with Link2SD

I need a little help i have a problem with Link2SD. I assign 500 mb to ext2 partition, and i have all my apps in the sd card, playstore, facebook and 2 others are linked. Well my problem is that, i have a notification for less space in internal storage :/ when i trying to install some new games ( well i have like 5 games installed already on the sd)... So why i have just 19% free space in internal storage if i have all my apps in sd? PD : see the image and sorry my bad english

Link all apps. Don't move them to SD Card.

Im gonna try that . But i have another issue, why when i install apps automatically install on sd card, i remember in old version of link2sd, new apps are linking to sd and no install on sd. How i can activate that if is possible?

Yeah that is activated at the first but for some reason didn't works, idk but now is working, thanks.
I've been having a similar problem to the OP. Am I right in thinking you move ALL applications to internal storage, even the ones that install to SD card by default and then link them?
I guess there's a problem with your rom or kernel. Who knows

But is this the way to do it? Make sure user apps are are on PHONE before linking?
I'm using LinkSD and it saves me a lot of space in /data.
The way it works :
When installed, an app has three or four parts : the .apk file, the .dex file (in a deodexed ROM), the data folder and, eventually, one or more .so in /data/data/app_folder/lib
- If the app is in internal storage, every parts of it are in /data : .apk in /data/app, .dex in /data/dalvik-cache, data folder and libs in /data/data/name_of_the_app folder
- When the application is moved to sd Card, the .apk file is moved in /mnt/asec/, but the .dex and the data folder remains in internal storage (some applications may also have data in SD Card)
- When the application is linked, the .app, the .dex and the .so files are moved to /data/sdext2 (which is the place where the 2nd partition of the SD Card is mounted), only the data folder (without libs) remains in /data/data (internal storage).
So, the best way to save place in internal storage is to link user applications (no need to move it to internal storage first, it also works when the application is in SD Card).
All my 50 user apps are linked, and I still have 85 Mb free in /data.

[Q] p769 strange storage issues

My l9 running cm10.1 has some sort of weird storage issue.
First of all, it has three storage folders: "emulated" "sdcard0" and "sdcard1". I understand that sdcard0 is the internal memory, and sdcard1 is the sd card (shouldnt it be sdcard and external_sd?). however, what is "emulated"? it has a "0" folder and "legacy" folder inside that have the EXACT contents of the actual internal phone memory card.
Second of all, when i reboot my phone, under the storage settings of the actual phone settings, it says that my sdcard has 1.8 gb (however, like this, when i plug the phone into my computer it shows up as it should, with SD card with 1.8 gb and internal storage at 14.8 gb). then when i mount and unmount the sd card, it comes up normally on my phone but on my computer it shows both internal storage and SD card at 14.8 gb (which clearly isnt right). Also, both have the exact same files and folders inside when i open them on my computer *or on my phone*
if anyone can help thanks so much
can anyone help? id appreciate it lots

You use a ported version, right? If yes, which one is it? Sounds like a mounting issue.

You have a swap script in use. The script is inside /system/etc/init.d You can remove it, unless you have a game that you backed up from stock. From reading your post, i can tell you probably don't need it.

So I found the folder that you're talking about. Do i delete every file i see? And will that solve my issues with the emulated storage and whatnot? Thanks!

Thanks for the help, but I did that and the "emulated" folder still is there. I don't know what to do anymore. Also, my computer still shows both storages as having 14.8 gb
Did you reboot? That emulated stuff is going to stay. Its apart of the 4.2.2 android changes to the system.

[Q] Where are LIB files in internal memory?

Greetings to everybody,
I would like to know where my LIB files (from lib folder from some app) are going when I move that app from sd card to internal memory.
Lets say I have XXXX app and i move that app on sd card, then im my root "/mnt/asec/XXXX/LIB/" I got those LIB files. But when I move that app from sd card to internal memory from settings I really can't find those LIB files.
*Tried to search those files with "Search" from Root Browser, was waiting 1 hour and still didn t find anything but the searching was keep going on..
Can someone tell me what is happening with lib files when i move an app from sd to internal?
Best Regards
